Gonna say it again, they're only 3 years into development (normal time frame being 5-6), currently in pre-alpha, alpha and beta to far away to announce yet. Pre-alpha has currently ran for 2 months alone, it's likely gonna be months for every phase and months between every phase.

I lose motivation/energy too easily... so I've never pursued anything beyond the basics... I'm slowly trying to motivate myself to at least be artistic and draw with a digital drawing tablet - dabble in 3D modeling and sculpting. The chapaas are a wonderful inspiration. Maybe one day get back to the Comp.Sci./Eng. stuff as a hobby, with FPGA's and the like.

If you're taking gender out of character creation but can still identify the models as "male or female presenting" in it, then gender hasn't been taken out of character creation. The gender label stickers have just been scratched off.

My concern is largely that we will end up with something too analogous to PSO2's system. Where you have so much apparent freedom, but what it ultimately boils down to is the following:

1. Are you male or female?
2. Regardless, do you have facial hair?
3. Okay now that you've done that here's a billion sliders, but haha no you can't actually be anything resembling chubby because our models would break.

Not just gender diversity, but body diversity in general is a big hope of mine. When PSO2 boasted about its character creator, and again with New Genesis, I was very hopeful. Both times I was let down. When BDO came around and boasted, again I was hopeful, but ultimately I felt nothing but overwhelmed in one way and underwhelmed in another.
