I'm excited that it's different than the "normal" MMO. I showed my wife the announcement and she fell in love immediately. We want a game where we can live in an alternate world together and experience a story. Which in many other games just isn't possible with having jobs, kids etc.

It's not a secret so much as it's still being defined; I can tell you that I'm aiming to have everyone here on Discord see the peeks first, then share them on social media a few days later. I'd like for them to highlight the different categories that were voted on in #📮│public-polls , so a bit more diversity in what kind of content you see.

@reef bay , as for dev diaries, we are looking to have something like this created soon on a semi-regular cadence (not weekly, but regular). The reason we're not putting out many is because we have a lot of features we want to put in the game, but we are still determining which features will make it in at launch. If we share in a dev diary the features we're working on, and then they aren't scoped for release day, it may create some confusion with our players 🙂 That being said, I do agree that something to show the kind of work we're doing would be great for the community!

As the game grows there may be more races we come across .. but .. what if it is a planet full of Elves ( or Elf like people) with a few scattered from other planets that have settled on Palia . Until we know the story ( a part of the gameplay) we may not know everything until we start playing the game itself. And, also, we are being introduced to people at the first village/town being introduced to us .. Palia is likely to have more, if not available at release then maybe over time as the story ( narrative) evolves . Maybe there will even be a continent containing Zeki's people with a general store there being run by an Elf for cross trading purposes between the two races .. who knows .. except for the developers... and maybe even not them .. yet. 🙂

the framework that makes that interesting and makes me want to return is a strong story that evolves over time, with compelling characters that you can either root for or avoid based on what you know about them, and later with reveals find out something that completely changes your mind

also the world is important, if it feels like you've seen the same tree 7 times walking through the woods, that's not good, that's basically the Flinstones running through their house

i mean to be fair modeling a whole lot of trees is a lot of work, it's easier to reuse models so they can focus resources on more important things

also if you want a story where you can root for or avoid characters, an mmo might not be for you? the stories in these kinds of games tend to be more like a ride in an amusement park, rather than an interactive story

it's understandable that a lot of people are interesting in mechanics, given that, you know, gameplay is an important aspect of a game

Fishing is a game of connect four that you play against the fish. Tougher fisher have smart ai. The mechanics could be ANYTHING
