Except the problem is and is well known in testing the general player is highly unlikely to give good feedback much less know how to identify issues. A seasoned tester knows how to look for issues, document them for the reports, and actually submit those documents. "Free game" types hardly ever give feedback and when they do it's usually hard to recreate based on weak information. I am not saying they shouldn't have a mix but I'd hope to help make the game better they would prioritize seasoned testers.

i think one thing they were looking for was people who can use correct spelling and grammar. it's hard to spot every typo when you're working on a large project (the number if times i've had to edit the novel i'm working on is proof enough of that) and having people that can go "that's not how its spelled" is a big help.

Hello my name is Wippit and I'm a non-alpha spouse. It has been 46 days since pre-alpha took my wife. In trying to come to terms with the crushing agony that is my pre-alpha separation, I've been trying to equate my current circumstances with popular movies. As a visualization exercise... or at least that's what my therapist calls it.

The obvious first choice was Forrest Gump, with myself as Forrest and Passion as Jenn-ay. And Jenn-ay is doing all these interesting and wonderful things while I'm left to wander the world without her. Always imaging that she will appear one day, and we'd be like peas and carrots. After all, Palia is like a box of chocolates. I want it, but my mom won't buy it for me!

I next thought of The Princess Bride. I believe it makes a lot of sense. "Hello, my name is Wippit Guud. You took my wife. Prepare to die." Which turns pre-alpha into the six-fingered man. Sadly, this one doesn't work either, because I don't know if Einar has a great gift for rhyme.

I even briefly dipped into Event Horizon; Palia being likened to a gravity drive and we all get pulled into pre-alpha. But I wanted to keep my eyes in my head - if you've seen the movie, you understand.

Finally, thought, I settled on a rather unorthodox choice. There's an obscure little cartoon series called Bravest Warriors. In it there is a character called Catbug. Catbug has a small scene where.... well here, you can watch it. Just imaging "Rebecca" is "Pre-Alpha". And I'm Sir Jeffers. Which makes all those Dev people Chad.

Just joined the Discord after learning about the game. What was it that brought everyone here? Someone described Palia to me as "Runescape without the violence" in a way to say that you can level up plenty of trades. ( Woodcutting,Fishing,Mining,ect)

Hmm not sure if I'd say it stacks up against Ghost of Tsuhima from what I've seen soely on the fact that Ghosts looks hyper realistic while Palia looks more cartoon-ish but yeah I'm hyped for it already

Unfortunately, we would all love to play this right now but only the pre alpha selected people ( selected a while back ) have been able to access the game. The website has been updated to show that they may do some small test runs over the next few months but the next big test run isn't on a time line yet. When are future tests happening? We don’t have a specific timeline for large scale tests, but may be running small scale tests and feedback sessions over the coming months. If you’re signed up, we’ll reach out through email to let you know if you’re selected for a test.

I've only been in a couple of CAT-1 hurricanes in my life, I can't imagine what a CAT-4 is like. And that's just the landfall; the path of this will take it into areas already having issues with flooding, and this will dump literally billions of gallons of water.

That's not a bad idea! Especially if the pop up message is for your "home town", wherever you've decided to build your house. In my head, the idea would be any wandering person would notice a town with a particular weather effect over it to indicated what kind of event is happening. Even if you're house isn't there, you could go to the town message board or "guy who yells random info about town" and participate in smaller ways. While actually having your house there will allow a deeper way to help in the event.

I can imagine everyone getting a yellow raincoat at the early part of the event to help with the immersion that there's a storm

This way, anyone in the server could see what's going on and be able to participate in some manner. Not every town would have the same event going on, to create a more dynamic world. One town has a flood, one has nothing at the moment, and another one a drought or wind storm. Etc etc

Definitely. If I had other reasons for being in town, if would be mildly infuriating if I was unable to do my current tasks due to an event. This could certainly be avoided by having the ability to opt in or out of a town wide event. Join and receive some experience, cool items, or a bonus for your house. Or don't, and just enjoy a cool weather effect around the town haha

As far as mobile is concerned, what I would love to see is some sort of app that would allow us to do something productive when we're out and about and not in game.
