Hello my name is Wippit and I'm a non-alpha spouse. It has been 44 days since pre-alpha took my wife. Other than melting in yet another heat warning where I live, today has been a day of confusion. Well not so much confusion as... well, you've all played other games, right?

So, I'm having issues associating people in Palia with other games / media. It all started with Einar. Because when I say his name, I'm picturing Einhar from Path of Exile. He's not a golem, he's a mighty (and slightly insane) hunter. But you get what I mean? He always refers to himself by his name instead of "I", so I hear his voice saying Einar's name.

Or Kenyatta. She just got an art release. But anyone who's played Overwatch can sympathize with me picturing Zenyatta.

And not just names. Eshe, although her name is close to Ashe from Overwatch, is the picture of Cruella de Vil. Which, I admit is probably intentional. Jel is the image of Milo from Disney's "Atlantis". Hassian is Galford - with his trusty dog Fabian - from the old arcade game Samurai Showdown. We even have grumpy cat fish!

I still swear "santa hat" is just an Elf on a Shelf.

Especially if they were for the NPCs you don't usually interact with .. in other games .. you just watch them walk around. Whereas in Palia maybe they have some basic interactive abilities .. maybe not as active as the villager NPCs. Unless.. all the NPCs in Palia are fully interactable :insert excited auni emote here:

What if the friendship level with npcs gives you access to new quests or something? Kinda like the events from Stardew or harvest moon but more interactive than just pick a choice options.

Like. For example, Auni gets sick at one event and you have to deliver all the mail in his place? And you get some gossip from the villagers you deliver the mail to?

I believe each NPC has a unique set of quests/tasks to grow the friendship level .. but I would think ( or hope ) each relationship level would unlock new quests/interactions etc

As it so happens, Ashura’s story is currently the highest rated among pre-alpha testers! But, yes there will be many more tests. We haven’t yet determined when and what the nature of those tests will be, including decisions like how large they’ll be. As soon as we can let you know, we will. But now that we know players are interested we have a duty to build and scale Palia as fast as we can!

so, I watched Castle in the Sky yesterday (a studio Ghibli film). There were golems in that movie...especially the one who still lived in the castle in the sky, that reminded me so much of Einar. I wonder if they took some of Einar's inspiration from that film?

It was good! I've seen some other Ghibli films, but haven't given that one a chance yet, and having watched it, I highly recommend it. I can see how it would have been used as inspiration for the iron golems in Minecraft as well

I wonder if Palia will have any steampunk vibes in it or not? Because those ships in that movie were so awesome
