Not having catchup mechanics really discourages new players and leads to players being toxic gatekeepers. See WoW's community... People STILL hate that only "current" gear takes effort, and a new player can get to current content quickly.

I'd rather they do not add anything to the game that forces you to jump progress. it is okay for us to begin building a wooden hut while the player who's been playing for years has a huge mansion and there should not be something in the game that can make you jumpstart to obtain the mansion so that you can then play with your friends. You should just be able to be the guy who owns a hut, and still play with your friends just the same.

Putting in these boosts and jumps etc.. its a way to skip content, if the content is to be skipped this means the content is not fun at all or is not supposed to be fun.. because why otherwise would you want to skip this content, does this mean the last 1-2 years you spend building up your mansion is just the tutorial? There shouldn't be an 'endgame' as such in this MMO, it being a life sim.. when we are born we are babies, we poop in diapers, we go to school, we go to university, we learn, we evolve, we start working, we make families. there's no skip button to jumpstart yourself into family life living in a 1 million dollar house either.

People should not be making games with monetization schemes that help you skip content so that you don't have to play the game. We are gamers, we want to play good quality games, not having to drop 200$ or 50 hours for that matter to get to the good part of the game. For games like World of Warcraft, it started out with cosmetic helmets, now you can buy actual gold in the game thus leaving out all incentives to actually make that gold yourself.

Personally feel subscription-based only is still the best, you pay for the constant updates you get, as long as the playerbase is big enough, its sustainable. This is the immediate incentive to make a good game, to ensure the playerbase is large. Sadly stake/shareholders don't want to take the risk the game doesnt have enough subs and goes south, there's been too many examples of failures in the industry. So they resort to the "okay we're going to make a cash shop but we're going to put stuff in there that does not impact your gaming experience in any way" 🙂 But it always does, one way or another. Anyway, I feel we can only hope and wait and see till it comes out. gonna be some long years ahead.

From an economy (making money) viewpoint .. a wide variety so that even if I only make a few of each I can still make a reasonable amount of money ( or Palia equivalent ) selling them. From a food viewport .. pretty much the same as I like food .. and the game has food that I could eat there but I wouldn't eat for real because I don't like it 🙂
