That's why I hope they have a subscription fee on the game, to incentivise regular updates for the sake of player loyalty.

That's been true for so many releases. 2077 wasn't the first, and it won't be the last, because the industry standards are rubbish. The shareholders want their money and the deadlines are based on that, so skeleton development crews are forced to work with outsourced spaghetti code from multiple parties, and expected to make it work in a tragically small amount of time.
My impression, and perhaps it's wishful thinking, is that S6 isn't being shoved around like this. So the result is (as far as I can tell so far) a team that is actively listening to what we want, and trying very hard to incorporate that into their vision for the game.

Lets go!" So unless it's REALLY solid, there's a good preview or you trust the company: NO PRE-ORDERS! (I'd pre-order Palia if it was a thing when that time comes. :x)

A lot of the content in MMORPGs are hinged on the endgame gameplay loops and the reward incentives attached to engaging with them, so I hope they've outlined a good plan in tackling that and giving people an experience they can play for a long time over a long timespan and feel rewarded for doing so.

Most MMOs don't have much of a longview. They want their launch numbers. They want their quarterly quotas. But there's very little thinking about what happens years down the line. This is why S6 is kind of giving me hope for the future. Feels like the light at the end of a very dark tunnel of toxic everything.

I'm holding out for my tavern/inn so if this is real then yayy, but I've heard buildings are instanced, so I'm not expecting a whole lot out of player ran businesses lol

Unless you can apply for a permit, pay taxes, and hire an NPC who could help run everything autonomously while you're away, keep business coming in so you don't go bankrupt, etc.

Though problem with that is that a lot of people will ahve the same idea, let's say a 1000 players have the same idea in the same place in the same business and the same time, so it'll be hard to do that without making it instanced

and if it is instanced, the problem with that, is that you'll either run into a randomly generated shop, or have to choose from an instanced list of what you wanna visit and who. And the thing with that is, why would I visit "Joe's Crab Shack" when I could visit "Mister Magoo Wonder Emporium"?

So that would take away a lot of attention from a lot of other businesses, run them out, and create a monopoly for certain players/neighborhood owned shops

Just before the intro video was released there was apparently a preview event where the developers revealed the game to a bunch of news sites.. I've been hunting down these sites comments for additional info they gleaned at that time. These were dated 3rd and 4th June.

Weird question for Vegetarian people out there. When playing games that involve eating cooked recipes do you ever even think about what you're eating in the game, or if given the option to be Vegetarian do you ever do that? I know Genshin Impact has meatless dishes that give you the same buffs as meat containing dishes. weird thought I know mostly probably don't care since it's a game, but are there some of you that do care?

I think Palia's a self-advertising concept because so many gamers want an MMO that's focused on chilling out. There really aren't any. Most MMOs have some chillout experiences, but none that I can think of revolve around it. That's more a singleplayer game kind of thing.

(WOW) From an artists standpoint it's no more tough to design a bunch of houses or plants than it is clouds that look like things in the game

They'd be like a form of mission, maybe you'd call them 'Outings' and you could do them whenever was convenient for you and select which NPCs/Players you partake with. So you could have your cloud-watching outing, a fishing outing, a picnic, etc. Minigames with a social focus, like the chill version of a dungeon.

Fishing outing, you'd pick your NPC or partner and the minigame would consist of a randomly-selected scene (dock, lake, stream, etc) and for 10 minutes or so, you and your partner would fish and compete to see who can catch more or simply enjoy the experience.

Each activity would have its own form of loot, I guess. So fishing would give you fish, cloud -watching would give you, I dunno, cloudbits for decorating or chances at new recipes inspired by the sky. Picnic would give you cooking recipes or something. So you'd have open world exploration and fishing and such, but these would offer a more instanced experience, possibly with NPC involvement to foster that connection.

ive asked a few people on their general opinions on prealpha (since general opinions arent against nda)
they all seem to enjoy the game and think its worth the hype, so yes i would assume testing is going well

It depends - I started playing things a "pacifist" way, and then I ended up going basically all plant-based a year ago -- like as in "real" life, what I eat. The funny thing is that I think if a certain video game hadn't made it so impossible to do anything without killing stuff, that I wouldn't have really started analyzing how much the expectation of violence and genocide as a necessity in video games would have really stood out to me -- if even the race most widely regarded as the best, morally speaking, was performing genocide against another sentient but not human-looking humanoid race just simply as a matter of encroachment. They give reasons as to why, but it just adds up to them = good, others = bad. It made me start thinking in generally how much video games have a default presupposition of violent supremacy.

We don't know if there's professions or jobs as such, but Kenyatta's character card mentions something called a Path, which might imply something of the sort.
I do believe the devs also mentioned you could choose to specialise in certain skills, or be a jack of all trades, but I'm not 100% sure I didn't dream that up

the thing I started doing in WoW to create a back story for my gameplay was to have goblin and gnome warlocks who wanted to be druids but of course aren't allowed because nelves are stuck-up, so they got together with a tauren druid and started a sect on their own where maybe they don't get the special powers, but they can scare animals off and worship Alexstrasza, including setting themselves on fire to run faster to glorify her fiery breath of life

it was very playful but also lore-heavy haha

and anyone objecting to it in a pearl-clutching way just wouldn't understand what is involved with being a goblin or gnome RPer in the first place, really, we're automatically outsiders hahaha

I just thought it was hilarious that warlocks were the class that made it easiest to play as a pacifist -- and then the thought of "well she's a warlock because this cute little helpless demon followed her home one day" just sounded exactly like a druid sort of thing to say

that's literally how I ended up with one of my dogs, someone had dumped him in our neighborhood, and he was hanging around our neighbor's house because she is a huge sweetheart and couldn't resist being kind to him, and nobody wanted to call the pound because he was so sweet, so after the neighborhood picnic, I hung back from my mom instead of riding alongside her (we were on horses) and I whispered sweetly to him from up on horseback to get him to follow me to our house haha

I had an experience very similar to this, once, actually. I was riding on a horse with my friend, and we came across a couple of pigs in a big field. I actually got off my horse and led them slowly across several grassy fields back to where our house was. I built them a little pen, and they’re still there today!

I would love it if there are pets that you can have without having to make them fight to the death with other animals - that's the part I didn't like about pets in WoW, and why I stopped doing that, too (because you could also level from pet battles)

yeah they don't like to be dirty, they do make mud wallows for sun screen and cooling off, but the only reason they end up being nasty is because they don't have enough room

My dog would sometimes chase after birds and not pay attention to where he was. Multiple times he just ran straight on into a fence. Also we had a stationary bike, and he’d just repeatedly bonk his head on the pedals if you were riding it.
