Yes, this kind of thing is in line with how players will interact competitively in Palia, unlike traditional PvP as seen in other MMO's. You're not gonna be killing other people.

Thanks for this question. It’s been a notable point of confusion in the community and so it’s a key point I’d like to address today.

Your initial impression is correct, but there is some nuance to that answer I can hopefully clarify a bit now. First off, the core vision and target experience for Palia centers around creating a collaborative, cozy, and safe multiplayer experience. An inherent part of providing that safety is that players know that they exist in a world largely devoid of physical, social, and emotional threats. As such, we feel that player versus player (pvp) combat is antithetical to our core experiential goals.

Additionally, this is an area that many great games we love have invested in deeply, and since it’s not our core, we’re unlikely to produce an experience that measures up to player expectations were we to divert our focus into this area as well.

Having said that, we do believe that there are some competitive play opportunities that can make sense in our world, in large part because they’re the kind of light hearted competitive experiences we expect to find amongst family or close friends. A Sunday afternoon card game can be cozy. Racing on the beach can still feel like vacation.```

Say you want a fish that's only caught in the morning. If you start fishing when "morning" hits you will have 15 minutes (give or take!) of straight fishing you can do and have a chance to catch what you want.

I'm aware of Stardew's infamous fishing difficulty. We are aiming for a similar level of depth but with a gentler difficulty curve. You should be able to succeed at low-level fishing even if you are not good at the mechanic.

For example: I aim to be a farmer / gardener to grow food - when / if they add animal husbandry I will expand onto that - and .. if I have time I will be Lore hunting ... at least thats the list until I know what other skills are available ..

1. For any profession/skill ex farming or food related ones what is the benefit for making and eating food? In a normal combat orientated MMO, food would restore health or buffs, but If that isn't really the focus how does that work what is the point in growing food if it doesn't do anything?
2. I certainly hope that skilling is more than just something like the stardew valley fishing minigames, otherwise I couldn't imagine doing that for multiple hours staright

I like the one-click resource meters via long animations like New World. I don't just want a crafting or skill up system like that game, though. I really liked the way FF11 and early WoW handled it. WoW was a bit more broad and forgiving, while FF11 required you to level up even your Healing Magic skill to be an effective White Mage and at higher lebels was a brutal grind to level considering you couldn't solo anything.

I know they said they would reply by email if chosen. Do they send a confirmation email or do they only email you if you are chosen for it?

Hello, my name is Wippit and I'm a non-alpha spouse. It has been 17 days since pre-alpha took my wife. Unfortunately, she had to take a short break from the game as I needed to go to the emergency room. I won't bore you with the symptoms, but after several tests I was diagnosed with Defectum Lusoribus.

It's a very rare disorder, caused by a lack of multiplayer gaming when confronted with a pre-alpha gametest. It apparently causes the victim's skin to become something like velcro (the hook part, not the fuzzy part), and can only consume food shaped like a trapezoid. The only known treatment is to play a pre-alpha gametest. I only know of one of those at the moment so... here's hoping S6 can do me a favor.

"FFXIV Online" has a bunch of different instruments you can play (maybe it's only for Bards, but not sure), but there is one important thing you must agree to before the in-game feature is activated for you. You have to agree not to reproduce/play copyrighted music. Otherwise, you'll probably get a ban, if streaming and that music plays you can get a strike or ban on your streaming platform, and you might also get the game creators in some trouble. Not sure about all the legal ramifications.

All I'm saying is that if the devs want to put instruments in-game, they'll have to think about having us, the players, agree not to play/reproduce copyrighted music.

It really depends on the company behind the artist. Some treat covers exactly the same as stealing and noone really has the money to argue with them about it in court, so they get away with it.
