I don't think you can eliminate grinding entirely, some things will just cost a lot of resources for instance. But you shouldn't feel like you've seen that same tree 1000 times today and you just wish it would chop its own damn self

I don't think the hunting will be too action-y. It'll most likely be getting your bow shot right and the prey running away if you fail instead of it trying to run at you and you have to fight it.

Combat? We're not ready to get into detail on this yet, but we'll have both combat like systems, such as Hunting, and eventually more traditional combat. Like most of our skills, you'll be able to choose your level of participation in it.

Hunting is the most action-oriented skill in the pre-alpha. But you are right - it's NOT combat. We have some really exciting plans in the "action" space for this game, but I can't tell you anything about them right now. Your patience is appreciated here.

Instanced Houses? It'll feel a lot like that. Not committing to instanced housing plots atm
Currently our housing is instanced off in private spaces - there will be ways for players to show off their plots but it will not be so free [edit - as running by someone's home]. As such, there is no shortage of real estate for players to have access to housing.

While we do share some feature overlap with traditional MMORPG’s, Palia’s genre is Community Simulation MMO. Which means our core loop and primary gameplay systems have a very different focus. One way we like to put it is that all of the sideshows in an MMORPG (crafting, gathering, housing, etc.) are our main events, where we pour all our energy and resources.

Sorry I'm three thousand years late to answer this (fussy dog wants all the attention today). Pre-alpha testing was initially slated for 1,400 testers and that amount of invitations was met this week. We don't yet know if they'll need more during this phase (I'd guess not), but we do know that after Pre-alpha should come further phases of testing.

It's still worth it to have signed up and it's a fine idea to encourage friends to do the same even if they're just hearing about Palia today. Definitely keep your eye on #📢│palia-news for big S6 official news, #🌠│official-art for pretty and inspiring pictures, and #🎨│old-palia-fan-art for fan challenges and inspiration.

Each wave of testing should improve Palia, and it'll be rad no matter which part of development you join in on up to and including the full release of the game (which is slated for 'much sooner' than three years per devs.)

If you have any questions about the testing, selection, or think there was an error, contact a mod or dev and they'll get you sorted.

Ah so I looked it up, they are slimey because they excrete slime on purpose as a defense, I assume the touch aquarium chemically stops that somehow just like they put caps on the stingray's stingers - so you dont get slime on your hands

I played the same MMO for 15 years and spent every moment of it a noob, me being bad at games is why I love games, the adventure never ends that way lol

I have a tendency to make a million characters in games because I want to try everything! I don't think I'll need to do that as much in Palia if there aren't set-in-stone classes. But making all those toons in other games makes me really great at all the early level content in games, so I end up helping people start out a lot!

World of Warcraft does it during their maintenance windows. They say that it'll take up to an hour or so, but it usually only takes fifteen minutes for them to fix the problem and boot up the realms again. ☺️

in BDO they work at fixing the provlem while doing the maintance so we have to wait sometimes few more hours 🙂
