The Community is super split on that. The original debate stems from Games where you could buy End-Game-Looking Gear / Skin in the Cash Shop. Then you had Dozens of Players in the Game posing with their Glowing Gear. And what happens when you see someone in that kind of Gear? You automatically think: "WOAH! That Player must've beaten some really strong End-Game Boss to get this Set! I want to be like this Person one day too!" And then you check them and realise... They're Level 30 and they started Playing a week ago and the Set is from the Cash Shop. After such an experience, you'll probably not pay much attention to Gear anymore, as you feel that anything you see could simply be bought stuff and doesn't represent the Skill of a Player and the Hardships they went through to get that Gear.

Over time this debate has spread to any kind of Cosmetics. Even Cozy and Casual Gear can look good, awesome and desirable. But if it's locked behind a Cash Shop, many people won't be able to get it or simply don't want to spent even more money on the Game just for some Outfit. And thus the stand: No Cosmetics at all in Cash Shops either.

I know from different Youtube Videos that Asian Players (Japan, Korea, China) are so used to Cash Shops and Lootboxes that they don't care at all about that kind of stuff. They actually even want it (but recently that seems to shift a bit too). But when you look at Videos from Western Influencers you notice that quite a few have very strong opinion on the topic. 😅

Another thing I'd like, but could be argued against by some, is in-game statues in cities of the characters of people that have left a mark on the game's community or have achieved something incredible in-game. I don't disagree with the concept of showing respect to some remarkable players. I think people would have to be okay with the "qualifications" being more free-flowing & vague, which might be hard for people. Not saying they can't pull it off, I just see people getting petty/upset or being disingenuous with their actions to get recognition. That's what makes me nervous. But developers should be recognized, absolutely!!

Popularity is almost just another form of monetization in a way though. Streamers with a big platform will always have people to vote and support them, and that could end up with more unknown people constantly trying and trying to become more popular, making the game less fun.

Yeah rating systems are pretty easy to abuse since it's all about opinion. Also people tend to leave ratings more often about a negative encounter so it's a little skewed, and personally it would make me more anxious to interact with people if I knew I was going to be rated on any thing I might say.

Theorising: If we base it on .. pre-alpa + alpha + closed beta + open beta ( just to give them 4 periods of testing ) .. if we assign them 3-6 months or thereabouts for each test phase and add 3-6 months updating before the next phase .. It could work out to 2.5 to 3 years give or take some months

thats the big range I gave .. depending on how far into development they are .. we may just have 3 months between each phase of testing and the updates carried out .. rather than 6 months at the extreme to make the 3 year mark they said they are definitely under. They could also skip closed beta and just go from alpha to open beta .. its a semi flexible test/update cycle.

Well, they said they want the “sideshows” to be the focus, fishing,crafting,gathering,exploring ect. So I have a good idea of what I want and I think they also want. But without seeing how you obtain and grow in said areas of the game the pure speculation only goes so far, I’m very hyped for the testers and to try the game myself someday, and nothing but faith in S6 to deliver so I can be patient

Very true! I was lucky to get a house when not everyone was able to already afford one and a lot of Plots where still available. But in Palia we won't even have that problem to begin with since everyone will have a House by default. ❤️
