Duolingo's actually a pretty solid platform for the beginning stages of learning languages, though I find it falls apart pretty quickly at the later stages compared to dedicated textbooks and stuff

It'd either have to be fairly limited, heavily moderated with an approval process, or you'd have to earn the ability to post on it in game to help prevent trolling, but a community board would be so cute.

Nope, first wave hasn't made it in yet. First wave of pre-alpha has gone out, and another wave is expected int he "coming weeks"

So far 200/1400 invites have gone out.

depends on how well they are done. I personally like puzzles , verbal or visual .. so .. maybe reserve verbal ones for lore and treasure hunts if they exist and visual ones for other elements of gameplay

TBH I'm not a fun of such minigames. I would like ti have minigames in social areas but doing them in main gameplay loop would make it repetetive for me

I do! I prefer minigames because they entertain me, and things can be more skill based, on the other hand it makes accessibility more difficult for those areas so they have to be careful with how those are implemented.

Like doing match 3 with every mining would be just tedious. Something like that happened in one version of Thaumcraft mod for MC where core mechanic required you to do a minigame to progress. Fortunatelly author deleted it in future versions.

I'm hesitant to think how a crafting minigame would work for trees and stuff if you need 100s of the materials. Might feel like it's taking long instead of chopping down quick like ACNH or Stardew Valley.

Yeah I was thinkiing something simple and quick, similar to the stardew fishing system. Fairly quick, small overlay, simple to repeat over and over with some small variation to keep it interesting.

The best pirate vibes are currently in Sea of Thieves but it's a toxic hellhole with very little to do beyond sailing from A to B, so a bigger world like Palia's + pirate seafaring mechanics would be amazing

yes, but you cannot opt out of PvP, and the way it's executed is extremely unpleasant (the enemy teams can just repeatedly spawnkill you and spam obscenities you over the mic and your only option at that point is to scuttle your ship, spawn elsewhere, and hope you can avoid them in the future). A large part of the playerbase has begged for a more chill PvE possibility for ages, but then the hostile half of the community will say "if you don't like it leave", and there really are no options for cute cartoony looking pirate games where you can play sea shanties with friends
