Like if they were in another world?
Also, you all are absolutely allowed to say 'Sarah, hush' if I get annoying, babbling is a side effect of my painkillers
So, if we had a life elsewhere and are suddenly poofed into this world, I have a character concept.
how's everyone c:
If we are the exact same humans that vanished, I have ideas
its only the amnesia 'POOF you exist' that I am having trouble with
uh sometimes it's good to babble and get it off your chest and out of your brain - it's more annoying to stay discombobulated!
I wanna explain my thoughts bout it but i cant cause it doesnt make sense
I'm not even starting to think about elf backstories until they confirm it will be available, lol
The lore looks very promising
Awww Dragon, I'm not coherent at all, just type it out, read it, fix it, then hit 'send'
if you wanted to go the safe route with a backstory, I guess you could just say that certain things feel familiar - since basic objects most likely look similar or the same as in the "original" world the humans came from
so it's not fully alien, but feeling disoriented at first would absolutely make sense
Ight prepare for what 1 hour of sleep and alotta manga gets me
lol
and who knows, maybe the devs will open up about the world the humans left behind at some point
heyo
Yeah, I'm hoping they answer the 'what do our characters know' question in the next Q&A, but it will probably be a while before they go into any of the lore
yeah true, I'm happy to wait till they flesh out more of it :3
i hope our character is a blank slate like in destiny
Maybe the humans were experimenting with dangerous things and opened a portal to another world? Idk
as long as it isn't fully along the lines of getting sucked into a digital world kind of a plot
Maybe the humans are invaders from another planet, who were driven back and now have come back for revenge!!!
So, the type of things I enjoy doing will be farming, fishing, cooking, possibly brewing. Normally that would make me be a quiet homebody supplying and helping the people going out to kill the dragons (no offense DrAGON)
i just like killing things
Quiet life enjoyers rise up
Yeah, I'm not trying to guess where they are going in the lore, just what aspects and personality I can bring to my character
Everything's quiet after the nukes go off.
nuketown
So my idea is that here world is a alternative to ours and us playing is us visiting them. humans existed once in the past cause we had another way to visit back then but we lost it then vanishes and we can now visit again using the game idk its meta its wierd and prob stupid
TLDR: We as in us as people are using the game as a medium to visit there world long time in the past there was another way but we lost it.
Its meta
doctor who
Also i just wanna fish
Like breaking the 4th wall?
its valid, Dragon, most people wouldn't realize (ingame) what was happening
humans messed around with some black hole tech and got socked into a pocket dimension where they lived and evolved for eons (explains the purple skin), then one day that pocket dimension collapsed and humans came pouring back into the real world
Hello
Yea
Thats a nice idea tho
Non server emotes got the disable?
You would be considered 'that crazy guy' if you tried to convince other people about it, that would be fun and funny
From what others have said, yeah, nitro emotes are not working here
The conspiracy theorist class unlocked

go with what feels right to you, it's not that difficult with certain traits to have a very classical "x was influenced by y to change how they saw the world" - or maybe if they start off a little more self centered, not necessarily evil but maybe mean in some way, or pessimistic even, purrhaps they ended up drinking a random concoction that you know... nudged them in the happy helper direction
Now, again, in other games, being shy, ugly, untalented would be valid RP choices, and I have used all of them, but here... we want to be inclusive and there will be too many that are shy, feel ugly or untalented in real life so I don't want to be reminding others of that
the problem is that a unique game like this has unique problems, lol
the holy words.
I suppose that's a fair point 🤔
Twins are also fun to do, either by yourself or with a good, trusted RP partner
still don't find anything wrong with characters like Snufkin from Moomin, but not sure if the whole nomadic/traveller lifestyle is something they'll end up accepting as a form of existing in the game/story
oh yes - twins are way too fun
Interesting to see all this theories, but its pretty late in my country lol, gotta go to sleep. Bye bye~
I think that would definitely be a valid choice, travelling and gathering and selling your things in various areas of the game world
Oki!! Goodnight everyone!!!
sleep well you guys!
though from a perspective of not having a twin sibling, I fear I'd be stuck with very stereotypical things for them to do/act
its like having a regular sibling, only more so, from what I saw of my mom and my uncle, lol
never fully fleshed out these twin characters I had written down at one point, mostly just based them on a set of twins from my school back in the day - with a couple added quirks
I have a story (mostly still in my brain) of a set of twins, one becomes a soldier, the other a medic. The opposition of violence to defend and healing anyone is interesting to explore
it was sort of fun though for the brief moment they existed, considering the more quiet and 'lazy' one also had to deal with narcolepsy
lol
indeed - in fact there's this one Youtube channel that featured twins, one is a priest and the other a soldier, quite fun to see the differences but likeness they still shared
Hmmmm, if I had more than just 'common sense' for training I would set up as an ingame therapist
I mean why not?
it's not like you have to make any sense and be a proper therapist
again, a lot of players here will have their own issues and I really don't want to get into IC/OOC issues
cross something like Luna Lovegood with the Mad Hatter for instance
and yeah... been there, done that, seen the worst case scenarios of IC/OOC can get way too jumbled up
Yeah, no matter what game I play, no matter what character I play, I ALWAYS end up as the shoulder to cry on and giving relationship advice to players, not their characters, the players

I end up being Sneak Archer.
I also end up associating with thieves, pirates, and mafia, lol
oh noey, that really sucks out the fun sometimes uwu
lulwhat
those are such extremes
I know!
Sneak Archer sounds like fun though if it includes snatching someone's secret cookie stash
I had a nice, young medical student who agreed to tend bar for a friend when he threw a party. 6 months later she's 'the captain's woman' for a bunch of pirates cough Agressive Salvagers cough out on Lok
Fishing is somehow easier when its from someone elses basket/bucket
too true
I mean either works for a hangry Chuu
still, that's usually the fun part of living stories - you never really know for sure where it'll take you (discounting any set in stone GM moments) - so for Palia specifically, I feel like all roads are open, regardless where you start off at
I suppose I could be a barfly, but I'd end up trying to recreate my favorite character which does NOT fit this game, lol
at the very least you all are helping me rule out a bunch of things, and I appreciate it
and if they main consensus is that being inclusive, friendly and nice is the way you'll end up - if the characters indeed arrive a little discombobulated then who's to say they couldn't originally be evil but because they're confused, they get another chance at being a bit more nice
plus it can give a decent excuse to add in some flair with random acts of derp in the sense of getting angry out of the blue or acting a bit more selfish at times.. could even apply thievery to that aspect
oh god, I don't do evil. I mean, I have and as a DM having totally evil NPCs is fantastic, but I end up going wayyyyy too far with evil so I try to avoid it
but hey, there's always community service options for those who get a little too rowdy
thinks back to when she tortured a guy for being mean to a friend

tiny note to self - nyu anger Sarah butt
I think little bit of bad on good might be decent mix, same goes the otherway
wut
lol
what did i walk into
we're discussing RP, not real life!
Honestly I'm just as confused
bunny shaped doughnuts!
ah ok good i got a little nervous there
puts away her virtual skinning knives
But if we're talking about RP I had a D&D character once, she was. An alchemist who had a penchant for poisons... And torture.
its ok you dont need to explain your "hobbies"
I joke with my friends that I am definitely on the FBI and Homeland watch lists, between our conversations about what we did to our sim husbands, and my research google searches for writing, lol
shudders
actually I know someone who loves crafting tiny knoifes 👀 they'd probably love being a blacksmith in Palia if they end up playing the game
Was actually a super fun game since it was a WoW campaign
The entire party was aligned with the horde
We have basically decided that Palia is a very unique game and has unique issues when it comes to RP character ideas
Oof Sarah I'm pretty sure I have my own personal FBI agent just because of my amazon books list
lol my laptop barely handles elder scrolls online so i have to login and select character multiple times before it lets me in
hides allegiances in a corner because she plays both sides in WoW
All of the knives being named after various torture... mechanics? (i dont know the word)
The correct way to play
Dwarven Hunters, and Tauren Hunters (back before I boycotted)
They say Palia will not need a high end gaming rig
at least we get more space cows but more fluff and cute in Palia
I just need to find 15 people who want to play my character's older brothers, lol
uh good luck?
lol
I based that character off of a good friend of mine who actually did have 15 older brothers
or just wave the damsel in distress flag and I'm sure people will turn up sooner or later
no twins, either
My old chiropractor has 11 kids
Everybody keeps telling him he should go for an even dozen :p
Oh no. It's not an even number.
oooh I could totally see someone going for that Mother Goose in her shoe house thing 🤔
Lol
lol, they lived on a farm, lots of kids were pretty much necessary
(twas a rather snazzy game way back when I mean uwu not just the nursery story)
Back onto a previous topic though. Crazy RP stuff Is always fun.
the good kind of crazy is definitely fun!
Can't wait to see a couple get a divorce and listen to the arguing across the street. Really immerses you in the roleplay
Lol "the good kind of crazy"
to be fair though, personally I'll still stick to the sidelines and read what other people are roleplaying rather than taking part in it
That's totalyl valid, too, Niphredil
oye vey
hopefully it doesn't trigger anyone in the wrong way if/when it does happen
No, Wolf, I'm having trouble coming up with a concept for my character and my brain won't let me wait until I know more lore, lol
If people get triggered by somebody getting divorced and arguing in a game, I think they have bigger issues
sings sarah sarah no time is a good time for goodbyes
Chapaa supremacy
Chuu!
False
Now that song is stuck in my head O____I
You can use it as a battle cry too
nah not nervous - I had some really bad experiences once upon a time and I'm not that quick at responses as far as any type of roleplay goes so... it's not my comfort zone
CHUuuuuuuuuUUUUU!
I did it enough when I was a kid. I grew out of roleplay
also Chuu will rule forevermore
Ah fair fair, yeah some people aren't quite as suited for RP I guess
Given that animal crossing was thrown around i wonder if we could prob get sponsored items like a 7-11 set O____O
Chapaa
@cyan basin making new characters is fun, for the purposes of Palia I might just use one of my OCs from my pet project "convergence" but then the question becomes, which of several hundred do I use?
The only thing you have to do with RP is respect it and not try to grief it, other than that, join in or not as you like, we're all here to have fun
it was fun in part, still love the character creation process - and absolutely adore the characters I have from that period of time - it's just the IC versus OOC and debacles over proper decorum that went a step too far
Sadly common courtesy isn't found much in games anymore.
Been there, lol, but so many of my previous character concepts don't fit well in a laid back, cooperative, easygoing game.
and honestly, any time I so much as think about anything roleplay related, it still sets me off on the course of wondering how messy it'd get
Eek, see that's why I like tabletop games for roleplaying. It's a lot more relaxed about IC/OOC stuff than video game roleplaying and I kinda got fed up with Vidya RP too honestly
@cyan basin i think rp servers should be a thing not everyone is going to respect rpers and the other way around Rp community can get a bit ridiculous with their rules so a separate server should be considered
There is less "proper decorum" and more everybody is here having fun kind of vibe to it
not to mention at this point I'm still not sure how active I'll be in Palia so I'm also being a bit more attentive on the guild part and who I'll end up mostly playing with
That's a good way to invite trolls. An area specifically for RP is a huge ay yo we in here come troll us
@celest maple wait… by that logic wouldn’t you be attacked either way?
Exactly. It's gonna happen.
Ah see the way convergence is designed I have hundreds of NPCs and character templates filling a bunch of different roles from shopkeep, to farmer, to adventurer, etc. The world of being a DM is rough lol
Best you can do is prepare for it and don't give them the time of day.
Yeah, 4 decades of DMing, I feel ya
For me its hit or miss when it comes to Rp. Last real fun i had was an old Harry potter interactive form where you can take your o.w.l.s and send howlers to ppl
oh speaking of characters and such, has there been any mention of whether or not we are supposed to only have one per account and is there a technical limit on accounts per player? 🤔
all they have said is that 'for the alpha' one character
actually sounds like fun
would totally end up trolling my closest friends with those howlers though
Aw you mean I can't max out one character of each class to test each class out? :P
alrighty - keeping an eye on that then :3 but I honestly should try to limit myself to one character... this time
not sure there will be 'classes' so probably not an issue, Wolf
RP is weird because like most communities you have different "levels" the super serious RPers are generally the ones that get weird about rules and stuff. I remember back in RuneScape this one guy got pissed because my character walked through his. And I wasn't even a part of his group... I find video game RPers are generally among the most serious when it comes to it. Then everything is just more chill from that point. But like it was mentioned, on the complete opposite end of the spectrum you have the people who actively look to harass people who are roleplaying
It's a weird kind of balance that you have to find I guess
I'ma just back off into my foreverDM corner now with my notebook titled "characters I'll never get to play
"
Yeah, best bet is to just figure out who you are in the game and just play and react as they would. low stress, low key
aye that's a good point, Wolf
I've seen how light RP and heavy RP has managed to coexist but then, at that point I feel like the people involved were good friends who just wanted to have fun
A lot of people can't seem to figure out who they are irl, let alone in game 😂 sorry, off topic I just found it amusing.
In the end it will all balance out 😄 or hell people will do what they have been doing for awhile bring the rp convo off game into a discord 😄
RP is like anything, different people like it in different ways.
truly I'm always the awkward lurker when it comes to random roleplay server moments (for GW2 for instance) where I end up sitting smack bang in the middle of the street so I can read random character interactions
lol same tho
Lol that's always fun
Lol i use to creep on ppl in gw2 lol
Yeah, Wolf, that's also a problem because a lot of people who will play here have their own real life issues, so I don't want to make it harder for them to deal with it, in a place that should be an escape
Hell the npcs would have some amazing dialog if you sat around long enough
Some people are super lore strict and some aren't, some love that special snowflake RP where they make themselves a god, other people just like to play regular people with regular talents, it's all up to the person.
Let's be honest. Anybody who HASN'T people watched irl is probably the weird one here
what are people
true
Facts
loaded into a very awkward moment in the strawberry patch outside the Black Citadel once, and I swear the two players who were roleplaying 100% went quiet for the moment I was there because whatever they were doing was more than a little bit sus
Im extra creepy i take close up shots of ppl here in nyc lol
that just seems like normal nyc to me
and as much as I hate to do it, my painkillers are kicking in and I need to try to sleep while it doesn't hurt
<hug> to everybody
Night uppercase Sarah!
Night Sarah!
i never really paid attention to people
night uppercase
oh good lord don't remind me of the absolutely ridonkilous concoctions people would come up with when it came to alignment and race mixing
O/
What even is alignment?
sleep well Sarah!
Im going to fade into the darkness as well just dropped by to check out the community its litterally the most vibrant one so far out of all these up and coming games 😄
I literally abolished the entire D&D alignment system in favor of a more realistic and slightly more complex/grey system that was based upon noteriety and the personal opinions of the NPCs.
Good signs for launch imo 😄

I sat in on discussions relating to that system and other similar things, combat included, truly it reminded me more of a, as we call it, a sandbox argument
you know, the type where kids start tossing toys and sand at each other and everyone ends up crying
Lol
granted, I shouldn't have been surprised when the age group was so vast but still... a literal head applied to desk moment for me, more than once
So I've got this pet project that I've been working on for years, I call it "convergence" but basically it started out just as a setting for a novel I was writing... Never finished it. Then it got repurposed into a D&D setting.
😅
so in that regard - I definitely am happy with the randomness I've seen here so far, hoping I get to just live a casual adventuring farmer life, with a bit of baking, fishing, and herb/flower picking for all the dyes.. all of them
Then I got so annoyed by the fact that D&D limits what you can do soooo much and didn't mesh very well with the world I had imagined, that I spent several more years revamping entire systems including magic, combat, economy, yes, alignment, and character feats/abilities lol
ah yeah that would absolutely make sense^
I'm just looking forward to a rather chill sim/mmo
indeedy
Evening all~
Now the setting is so complex and takes soooo much effort to run properly that I actively dread running it when I don't have infinite amounts of free time
ah yes, keeping track of all the tiny details someone is bound to bring up just to win their turn
Not even that
good almost-high-noon!
The systems I revamped are crazy detailed. Economy now uses a silver standard rather than a gold standard and dice rolls+modifiers to simulate a semi-dynamic economy. Along with that I probably quadrupled the number of items available for sale in every category to promote trading and economic activity between my players and the setting.
Revamped magic to use something similar to a mana-based system but less math heavy by essentially making everything multiples of 10 or 100, added a few spells and took a few out, spellcasting now takes time and spellcaster classes more or less blend together, instead of classes you can now practice different "schools" of magic.
Alignment system now based on NPC opinions, impressions, and biases. As well as fame and notoriety.
seems a lot more accessible for beginners that way
Nevermind I re-introduced the concept of boss fights and boss abilities lol
but that's fine - who doesn't want to get stomped by a sky high golem once in a while?
Kinda stole a lot from D&D 4e to do that lol
And that doesn't even include the level of detail I go into with most of the NPCs I make, or the setting itself, to which I've added some unique flora and fauna, and more than a few oddities to the setting itself, like a desert made entirely out of living flesh, or caves where the walls are entirely made of water that doesn't collapse inward
Most npc's are named, but I also have a small "filler" category that I use for generic encounters when the players ask to talk with random folks on the street
day 6 of hpo[ing to be picked for pre alpha
if you've gone to that extent with other GM things, I bet you'll come up with some super fun iterations for Palia too
Lol perhaps. I'm a world builder at heart. I love making new characters and designing new things. The problem comes in when I try to write a story I end up getting halfway through and deciding that the characters did something I didn't want to happen
mooooood
My writing style is a bit odd because I just write the characters and their personalities, write the setting I stick them in, and then let the characters do the acting and writing for me, just writing what they would do in this situation or how they would react
i wanna be a lore god, and give in my own lore.
MOOOOOOOD
It's a blessing and a curse 😂
God, I use to try writing.... but I wasn't good at plot.... only talking and reactions.
it's one of the reasons I barely ever get anywhere with roleplay anyway, love the character creation process to a point where I get lost in translation when it comes to actually having to change their stories because of environmental or character interaction changes (mayhaps I'm simply too controlling
)
See plot is perfectly fine with me, my problem is when my characters react in a way I didn't foresee ahead of time
the thing is , you create a opening that is open to more directions. and different patchs.. so you can maximise the story . just never create them to faar apart. in that way they are close to the original story and can relate back and forth. thats whats my teacher once said tho
That... Actually makes a lot of sense
that is why u do ^^
My husband is very similar in that regard when he DMs vs me who improvs the conversations as my players interact with. It's not controlling at all it's just you have an idea in mind you wanna play through :D
pretty good advice
now be in mind , i dont mean do like wow. thats afull its to spread out .
and just makes bad sense. now if they all are short its very good
But my writing ends up being like my personal world. When I do DM convergence in it's full capacity, I drop the players into the world and say "have fun" and then they do whatever they want, the whole world is open to them lol
yeah, you have a fair point in that - I like to think a bit ahead of where I want to go with a story (because I suck at storytelling, or at least I feel that way) so when a curve ball comes my way I feel very uncomfortable too
Throw in the players ontop of that and letting them write parts of the story too :3
but if you do role playing. it is kinda you vs the world you are in. therefore from the story point of your character it is your world. but taking into consideration what is your part in the world. and the different approached he can and potentially could result in getting., will open many different paths to where a new and close story to him can succeed forward. while maintaning the core of his lore
Oh my gosh. That's the utter truth. It's really hard to not want to have all that in there. So if you can't use it the first time around, try again with another character. :D
getting ideas from a community is good, if u actally listen for once to the ones that make sense. they are usually not as good as the fun ones, but they maintan atleast the core of the story
I'm actually confused now and I think it's because we were swapping back and forth between RP and writing
no not really, i understand you get confused tho,
but they can relate to the same. the story and the RP. as they can be one and whole.
Hm
Good day everyone!
Absolutely agree :D sometimes it helps to see it from another angle and that angle really helps.
Good day!
hi
snoozes do be good at times
Especially at 2 in the morning lol, I'll catch ya'll later.
Go get some yeah, i left at 3:30 and regret it lmao
lets say u enter palia world. its filled with cute creatures and trees and no bonfire.
but you are RP a new adventurered / a hobbit lore guy ) he who wanders and tells the story while being the core to the lore n creation. he will by then always have a good story. and it will progress as the game itself progress..
So you entered and you would like your world to have more trees in one place and some bonfire as there is no. but you dont have any knowledge , but since its game there is help. but in the story you can tell ur side that you found a old script left of the anicent humans . told to do that and that and that would happen ( boom a bonfire is made ) . a story has began
Gnight!
but if the mind is adrift and a good conversation keeps it aloft then sleep can wait - that way you can go to bed with an ease of mind and happy dreams await!
if not i am just wierd at understanding things, i got a wierd perspective. but its one i understand atleast ha
Very hyped for this game. Sounds exciting.
indeed it does.
It's really cool standpoint. It allows you to see the story from outside the box that RP and writing go hand in hand 😄
yes. i think that is a great view. if you just want normal char rp u got that easy done. if you would want Game RP this is the perspective you could use. so in conclusion they relate very good depending what you want.
I always try to look on all sides of a box... you know, just in case there's that random sticker someone left behind... I mean, to keep my mind open for more than one side to a story, regardless of context
yea and the game itself does not need to have it, but i am over 100 % Confident if someone tells a story like this and RP it in the game. they will prob create a cave and it will show a transcript hidden in the cave.
which you must find.
though to be fair there have been some moments where trying to think of all options in a scenario only made it worse
but that is overthinking again,
purrhaps... I don't know if those evil, flying toasts would agree however 👀
This is another hard pitfall to practice overcoming in writing
look at wow shadowlands.. 4 covenant all 4 different sharrds.. thats overthinking again .
they are all from same world. in general . so should use same stuff. but different story is cool.
I mean, if there’s any group system at all, it feels like there will be a role play focused community
It'll be really cool to start seeing more lore for Palia :3
indeed it is
lest we forget the garrisons... which is something I hope these wonderful neighbourhoods don't turn into (unless someone wants their own personal space)
well it is a neigbour hood. so if all wants to contribute to less farming wood. and stones. i see it a great fit.
Lore books when :p
with all the art and maybe they'd even consider a community art page in a book like that
maybe i should create some lore. a lore where no matter the character and fantasy game. all fantasy game can intepret by changing the names of the character and places in my story hmm
but this game is not focused on any quests right ?
More so when we can be in game 😄
Like. Learning where the humans went or the history of all these other races and species
that would be cool and why they decided this time to actually come down, when they could have picked a different year. what is so important of this timeframe.
Oh most definitely! We had a talk about in-game lore documentation through books, it was really nice
Yeah. The lore is interesting already. Why did the humans disappear? Why did they suddenly reappear? I want to know now. 😂
I definitely want Einar to teach about the old times, wonder if he can comunicate in some way
Ooooh!!! Sweeet. That's a great idea. Like building up our own local libraries
pebbles
like Groot, but pebbles
should also teach blacksmithing !
this is one thing i would love the game to have Blacksmithing / Forging.
I wonder if Einar might communicate through expression vs. actual words. They seem to LOVE fishing. I wonder if it's actually fishing they like or fishing for pebbles xD
i wanna see my character in close view , smashing the anvil and creating a lovely sign to the neighbourhood
Einar doesn't do blacksmithing tho, he runs the fishing shack from what we know
Hello
To be fair I don't think we've seen a blacksmith yet
someone needs to know the way of smithing!
oh what if we could paint bigger pebbles to get some extra happy thoughts/random facts from Einar?
Fish salesman by day. Blacksmith by night.
Does this game make riot games?
What do you mean by that?
surerly Einar have seens a smith in his life time. and can say it was smashing hot rocks. so a time frame of 2 weeks to learn to smith would be nice for the basic
Is this game maker riot games ?
no
yes riot maker game
Ah yeah gender neutral makes for sense for a golem! Fishing rocks, acnh moment lol
Some of the devs used to work at riot and blizzard. They're now an independent company
there's also the question of whether or not Einar uses fish oil to keep his joints lubricated 🤔
In the news, it is said that the producer of this game is riot games.
What's the deal with Chu and Chappa
yo guys my name is adaminato in real life
yea its devs from those games, but they dont work for those anymore. they work here now
i think chu all the way ! loollll
nah chappa
I've not seen anything about that
will there be different dogs in the game ? like a cute CHOW CHOW or the cutest wolf ever seen ?
woof woof
Trying to be considerate. I wanna be Einar's friend
Lol. Especially during the egg event. It just dawned on me that Einar might just like fishing for pebbles. I wonder if they can go in the water? Golems were normally clay creatures, but their composition looks of a mix. So maybe to get pebbles Einar fishies because they can't enter the water???
Chappa is the offical name of the little boar/squirrel creature (look in #🐦│social-feed I think theres artwork there) and Chu is what some members of the community have started calling it
okey
Yes I chose chuu 🙂
i think they also have some of the riot devs
will there be ARAM?
Tbh I prefer Chapaa
pls no aram.
but the whole vs thing gets old
and if soo. pls be with fishing .
http://twitter.com/playPalia/status/1403096769093767170 it's this wonderful creature, I do believe someone named Chu had asked about what the creature was called before it had been mentioned so some started calling the furball a Chuu
Oh, so it's just to decide how they'll name it?
Ooooh, so what does Chuu have to do with anything
it was just a joking moment by the community.. I think... that's what I read the other day in here at least
Ooooh okok interesting
Just a nickname from the community, doesn't mean anything
Ah, so name war is finally over?
tis forever Chuu
in our hearts, my friend...
Well no, people will still "war" over it... But I don't think the name war had any inherent meaning to begin with

For all we know, Chuu is the name of a different creature
And the community is just so big brain they guessed it
Hm, on the trailer we do see them fishing and tinkering with a fishing rod, so I guess they do like fishing too! As for the composition, someone (forgot the name :( ) mentioned it could be ceramic, or maybe stone with brass joints?
for me Chuu just feels more accurate, maybe in part because of Pokémon
I mean you can't really be accurate on a name
Tiny Trash Sabertooth Squirrel is how I see it lmao
ah yes uwu wording, my bad
Oooh. A neat mix of material. So far we've only seen Einar. Wonder if there will be more?
I think so! I'm super happy about that
Jina has a golem companion, not sure if is einar too
not opposed to nicknaming it Scrat for fun but then we get to deal with copyright issues (in a less serious manner)
there was also the keeper of keys 👀
Don't think its Einar, they'd mention it
YES today we get more info in the Grimalkin i believe!
oh hecc can't wait
Also yeah, you'd think they'd say "Einar is her Golem companion"
LOL! Read my mind. Just went back to look. I'm HEAVILY interested though. Because the devs at the first post called Einar a robot and on their intro form it says 'culture: Golem' So I'm extremely interested if they're all robots, but all have different cultures? I dunno. That's interesting. BUT. Now it makes sense that they're robots and not what I'm used to as a classic 'Golem' i.e. clay, earthly material.
also Einar doesn't look like they'd be in a scholarly setting
Ye, we got the name of the race yesterday on #🌠│official-art and a bit of info in this channel
Convo starts here :p #💬│palia-discussions message
did they already reply about the possibility of emotes btw? owo
Ah yes, it does look like the definition of golem differs a bit from the classic giant rock beings. It's quite exciting that, at least from how Einar looks, they are tech based. An old remnant of the human era
I liked the idea of collectible emotes that Animal Crossing had. I hope they try something like it.
I loved that aspect in BOTW so much. It makes me really happy to see that here!!
I really hope Einar was old enough to see the olden humans roam the land
He probably was, if those ruins we saw in the trailer are from that time. Those ruins have the same trim as him.
im hoping on a in-game cinematic which is very slow progressing, but done in 10 min
Was Einar one of the first?! 👀
not that I'd suggest copying an idea from another game, but Might & Delight in their Meadow game did their emote collecting by the way of finding puzzle like pieces around the map as you wandered around and I found that rather fun to be quite honest
no copying!! getting inspired is the word your looking for
One of the first golems? That'd be lovely
It'd also open up the possibility of more like them having survived the passing of time
he was the first one for me to love and hold
oh the stories they could tell
aye :3 could be something similar, even if it was something like a reward from helping a specific NPC or finding a random rare creature, could be good fun as a treasure hunt
yes!
If humans were advanced enough to create golem robots, what else could they have done?
That is a really creative idea!
Destroy themselves
Dats right, golem uprising.
I just love treasure hunts
made a pirate map treasure hunt once for a cub scout camp and they all seemed to love it
The way Sky: Children of the Light does it, with the constellations, is also very neat!
weekly annual treasure hunts hosted by Niphredil??
My D&D heart wants something dramatic and chaotic to have happened to cause the humans to disappear, but my want for a game that is chill with wholesome lore and not tragic is so strong. lol
Imagine if we go through a long story that we get over time and it's like "Yeah, they moved to the house nextdoor."
aaaaah the pressure
but if I had time and energy, it could be sort of fun - granted the whole pirate map idea was because I used Harald (from a Viking comic) as the theme for the over all course they were doing, with small tasks before the last one rewarded them a map to a plastic barrel full of candy
no pressure! people can take turns hosting :D
aye and if I could teach myself to delegate tasks more often than not in mmo games...
but that said, even if it wouldn't be a player hosted thing (in case hiding and trading items or placing things like the chocolate eggs in WoW would be a feature) I'd absolutely love it if it was even only tied to seasonal events
if they're adding seasonal events
an easter egg hunt would be so fun
especially if there were small clues, guess the wee pirate in me just wants to find that random message in a bottle while fishing even though it's a very over used thing
Might be interesting to see how the in game time works. Like if an hour is a day, but they use Earth's season rotation, that would be 8,760 days in a year in Palia.
I need some extra energy to make coffee, some coffee would help
oh yeah true that, especially considering how pesky time zones can be, I'm very curious how they'll handle the day/night cycle
I can only offer warm cocoa, as I drink neither tea nor coffee
Then leave a can of coke or something in like a mini fridge next to your bed
ok lol
B12 time!
Better yet by a Xbox mini fridge
like some people commented - it'll be easier to find in stores than the actual console
5 Hour Energy contains 8333% of your daily recommended vitamin B12 intake. Each bottle is about 2 servings.
it did look purteh cute to be fair, for a sleek, black box
Say what you want about the Xbox fridge, but it’s got nothing on the KFC PC with built-in chicken warmer.
your right, But with my PC already overheating my power supply I need a fridge
Use the fridge as internal cooling and still keep the chicken hot in the drawer. Sorted.
get Einar to hook you up with some snazzy water cooling
Or that
haha, I luckily fixed the heating problem already, but before my new power supply came in I had to hotwire the power supply and cool it with ice packs
ah yes like me with ice packs on a tray to make sure my laptop didn't melt
Hotwired a power supply?
Can't tell if we are talking about cooking or computers https://tenor.com/view/futurama-fry-unsure-squint-hmm-gif-5346260
Good morning Paliens!
electricity and ice, good combination
we do not talk about the possible condensation
uh you could add brewing to it too
Ah! The smell of fried computers.
I had to use a paperclip to run power between power and ground on it and leave it in in order for the power supply to run
it was like 12years old
500w running a 1060
6gb
tis a very sweet scent at least, when you happen to accidentally drench it with cocoa
@quick dove I remember that also
also a verreh gourd afternoon to you!
was a fun time having to hotswap Icepacks to keep the power supply from trottling
These days power supplies have fans that turn off automatically, because they don't need to cool down all of the time.
what's Einar's power supply?
Chapaa in a wheel.
Chuu though 👀
Yes, always before you swallow to reduce the risk of choking.

Little bit offtopic, but fresh coffee smells really good
imagine what gaming would be like if you'd actually get to smell all the different scents and odours of the world you were playing in
Smell immersion
That would be the world I would stay till I die @cobalt cradle
nervegear when
The smell of fish, the fresh plowed cow dung fields, and the garbage loving chapaas.
never, its going to be elon musk's brain implant where you plug yourself into skynet
some part of me does want to experience it but then again I could just set foot outside in the real world too
Yay my Cynus can just get even worse while i play the game 😛
insert 'but my immersion' meme of course - maybe one day, it'd be fun in a sense to get to know how developers would design their games with it all in mind though
just remember to do some stretchies once in a while
Nose issue fyi 😛
eventually there will be a "Sensory" Department in gaming
Well, my real world immersion is not too good
stretchies from head to toe gets the blood flowing and more often than not, that includes the snoot too and whatever it's hiding
Seasonal allergies in video games is what I crave.
they did show off that glove thing during E3 but no clue how well it actually works - can imagine it'd be a good help for anyone with wrist/ligament issues
Don't start at that @brisk ivy , soon we need lactose intolerance etc. lol
I am totally starting to lose one too many words while writing, should absolutely get some sleepy time in
if you see any other fun chatter aboot them shiny hunts, let me know btw
I'll try to keep an eye on it when I peruse past this yonder corner of the interwebs
hope you all stay safe in your own cosy corners in the meantime!
Let the Dream world take you into sweet Dreams
Enjoy your Dream-Immersion @cobalt cradle
I shall surely try my best to
You think there be giant sea turtles that are like moving islands for mobile fishing trips?
Why stop at sea turtles? Enormous clams with air pockets. Anemones the size of windmills , or the other way diminutive dolphins shoaling in pods.
Well I was asking because they can follow predefined "currents"
Yes but tiny dolphins
Did they confirm swimming?
I wonder if Einar would help with underwater exploration
Swimming an underwater exploration would be cool if they went with the usual MMO route of full underwater exploration.
Ooh instead of turtles, what about nautiloids or crabs.
Some MMOs don't allow for swimming at all, but those are more rare these days.
Leviathans
Potuguese manowar type jellyfish
Krakens that tickle you instead of trying to eat you
Bubble helms for underwater breathing
This kind of hug?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TI4_LwgJ7Wc
It is amazing that Lurker Shark has been recorded multiple times on YouTube, yet nobody had done even a single video out of this tentacle, never less talk much about it as well. So I saw it as my duty to record this clip, if anything to test more of my capture card.
or consider the nightmare of repurposed golem helmets - like Einar look-a-like head pieces or his kin/predecessors and also totally on my way to bed

morning everone
Hey Borb
hoy
Morning Void!
Einar looks like a little bit like the scarecrow from Witches of Oz
The offspring of Scarecrow and Tinman 😉
Einar kind of reminds me of Bastion for some reason.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=to8yh83jlXg
He has those plants growing on him, implying he has been inactive.
Maybe less killer robot, though.
hell now i feel welcome, and that sucks Gampooh

gday!

Hiya Pals! Everyone ready for the Grimalkin today?
||Grimalkin||

Morning! Yes, my body is prepared
eyyy another Aussie??
Wait.. there's more than one of you?!
We’re all paid actors
Use medical pear with soap and water my uncle old method.
The thing I learned was olive oil, but I basically don't have time now, in 10 minutes I'm leaving for a driving lesson :(
good luck then
You got this!

ohh
I'll be fine but this is such an awful inconvenince that I would rather happen any other day >.>
Hello everyone, I was the only one who thought that the Palia looks like a genshin impact?
Could be.
Hey guys when do YOU think pre-alpha keys will be sended to us? I know the
meme but maybe we could bet on specific dates to see in the future who was right? What do you think?
Atleast 4 mondays
I enjoyed picking fruit in Genshin. not so much the combat. so i guess here I am
Yeah, very similar aesthetics-wise
At least for landscape :p Less so the characters
It's not a meme, its a reality. Thats the answer.
Based on player size. There are some massive superstructures in the trailer
For certain definitions of soon
Ok but I think we will get it 7.7.2021 what about that?
Put some dates in a bowl, fish around and pick one out.
inb4 pre-alpha is time limited to 2 days
All anyone can tell you with any certainty is that it will be soon.

That's a game of guess so yes
I said 4 mondays need to happen because the 4 characters in the vote
They are the base npcs
Good point
also 4 mondays because monthl qna format
Someone can remind me when we will get next Q&A?
Be kind of fun to have a alpha checklist to do like a scavenger hunt
@bright forge see #851872171403640873
New villager giving some treasure planet vibes
What new villager
July 8th
new for me since i just saw it
Well as in, all the villagers are already visible on the site and such
At least all in the vote (I think)
Aha i see
I changed my mind I think we will get keys July 12.
i wanna know more of the hunter with the dog-like creature 😭
i may or may not have a crush on him
The 'Hunter' might be a Mountain region contact
However I think he will teach hunting to players
i'd willingly listen to whatever he'd like to teach me
In some games, you need to learn how to tame pets and mounts, so you go to some tamer guy.
Or you need to buy pets or mounts from somebody.
^ this kind of vibe
Guy on the stump is totes bug guy.
Girl with pie is cook girl? That or chapaa dinner. That chapaa looks like it is about to attack.
look at that, bambi's to kill in the background
ashura best man
I wonder if the letters and runes we see actually have a meaning
These ones for instance
There's an Aqueduct in that picture!
Oh true!
so those rune if you decode them obviously have a key, and instructions to a secret website to use the key in. Only the best sleuths will find it.
Ah of course
You can also see the Arch from here
Ah fair, cross the pond
this sphere marvels me
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/816275304992997427/853960352308264970/unknown.png
that isn't a sphere, it's clearly a giant soup pot
Community Stews!
Soup soup soup
We can draw a fairly detailed map of what we've seen so far, there's many points that connect one scene to the other. Could be a cool activity :o
MMO
Ok. Ty !
Is there a time to the opening date?
Looks like the waterfall and the little lake formed the river we see on the scene overlooking the city
Not yet, under 3 years
thankss
nothing's certain, pre-alpha is gonna get 1400 lucky players in soon, as for the release, it could take more than a year but devs said definitely less than 3!
i have high hopes the beta will release sometime in 2022, maybe summer?
Neleimour and Steve show up to Player's house in trailer
Thank youu
Will the pre-alpha come by the end of the year?

We might also get a Hi emote today
pretty much yes, if you're referring to the first batch of testers being let in
nothing's really set in stone though
Hi everyone, is Palia playable now?
Pre-alpha hasnt even came out yet but its
Not releasing for up to 2-3 years.
Which if you are a Dresden Files fan should make you nervous.
??
Kvothe time
Right.... i don't want my spine sliced into costers
how many are already in the pre alpha
none
Grand total of 0
This one knows.
Keys haven't been sent out yet, 1400 will come out with the first batch of keys
Soon™️
Thoon

Thank you so much! It seems a pretty nice mmorpg, I'm crazy to play it!
Yup, I think all of us here are!
it certainly looks like the next big thing!
Anyone notice Einar is Culture: Golem?
It certainly does, but I haven't paid attention to the upcoming MMO releases, so I really don't know what else is out there.
me neither to be honest, i've heard of a few but i think they're cancelled rip
like, amazon games was supposed to release one?
yes! looking forward to see the other golem we know about
Jina is studying Human reemergence
I'm assuming the one released today will tell us its culture too, since it isn't human.
Ah, I'm behind the curve.
We also discovered Steve and Neleimour in the Trailer
Ye but she has a golem companion apparently
We also guessed that the plot size is 5 width : 3 length aspect ratio
By using crop squares in front of the home
I bet housing will be like the T.A.R.D.I.S. Bigger on the inside than the outside.
Yes
ok, haha. You were here to wish me good night and good morning 😛
Yeah I was night cycle exploring
oh they releasing character images 😮 ?
Go to #🌠│official-art
i hope there is small cute animal character

For now they are releasing NPC characters. The plan at launch is that everyone will be playing human characters as we try to find out why humans disappeared from the world over 100 years ago
And as we meet you you can become our Pals

so i cant be a cute animal boy
Daily reminder that I'm going to be the best farmer in the game
🥲
you can be a cute...human boy.....sorry, no animals planned at launch (at the moment)
Yeah hopefully animal onesies!
I better have pets
but equally
NPCs are all night elves from World of Warcraft. I don't want to romance a night elf.
be super good friends with all the npcs 💕
We have roughly 3-5 hours before more info on the Grimalkin
Using Pacific time for "Morning"
"If" they do it in the morning and not sometime in the afternoon
They said monday morning
ok
On the vote channel
I literally just came to check when it would be XD
they said winner will be determined monday morning. not announced. (the winner has been actually determined for days.) lol
Opened chat and the answer was right there amazing
Shrew is dependable like that ❤️
Hmm. It is Monday morning, I think. Probably
I get most of my answers from Anastasia
Who analyzed the trailer as its using the Engine Footage
Hellohello
So what do you guys think the keys that guy has in his hands are for? Buildings he sells?
Alpha keys
Animal cages, but for people like us?
Probably. Maybe a treasurer?
jailer?
Yeah properties is what I thought too
Roan had a good theory. Since he's on the page that talks about "Explore the world", he said maybe the "fast travel" is something he controls in town, and he has keys to send you to all the different portals in the land
yeah, that would be cool
Yeah I've been thinking the ruins around Palia look like portals
I called them skeleton keys
He is the Gatekeeper.
It would make more sense, too. We sort've see that girl in the trailer build a home, so why would he have keys to players' home?
yeah...creepy
He's the one that locked humans away?
Imagine if he had master keys to the universe and you woke up with him in your face.
nope Just ZUUL
ZUUL?
Uses portals to steal sweet rolls
"Driving too fast? Jail. Driving too slow? Jail. Charging too much for eh..sweaters? Jail." Thats all I could think of when you said that Inari 🤣
Better call ghost busters
OMG i just saw the video asmongold did on palia...... I hadn't heard of it before. This is the game ive been waiting for!
like just everything about it is amazing and hearing it has x blizz devs it gets my heart
Blizz devs? I hope they won't give us more azerite power to farm again :kekw:
I don't know if Asmongold should have been the way you found out. I mean, hasn't he shifted to a "reacts" to others type of content creator?
As side from that, this is exactly the type of game I've been waiting for as well.
I need to watch Asmongold's video...his personality doesn't seem like one who would like this game, so everytime I hear he gave good remarks about the game it surprises me
Like im fine with how i found out. i like his stuff but thats me.
He needs to make a male viera named Asbungold
Who actually gatekeeps how people find out about new games? How doesn't matter, as long as you end up in the right place
yea but if you watch the video from lazypeon the state of MMO's is hard to make content for as its kinda dead
What is dead? 🤔
Tbh the right person to make the review is Shroud no cap
If he plays this game
For a few hours, ez 400k views on stream
This is why I recommended the seasons stuff and linking various things to them.
Spring = Planting season = new crops new mechanics around crops
Summer = Growing season = new housing stuff and associated mechanics
Fall = Harvest season = crops produce more when harvested + storyline stuff
Winter = Crafting season = Staying in your house and out of the cold crafting stuff + new crafted items
That'd be great. The original SNES HM gave each season it's own identity. Later farming games did away with that
This is my biggest hope.
It also makes it so that S6 really only has 4 big 'deadlines' a year
And, those deadlines are the two solstices and the two equinoxes
Which gives lead to easily prepare for the future
https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/palia/images/5/5d/Media-Carousel01.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/1000?cb=20210604173659
You know, that guy kind of reminds me of a pirate.
And set up better events
Yeah the magical(?) eyepatch
4 ears = better senses
Maybe he's a treasure NPC, where you get him to tell you were to find chests or something?
We get new mechanics in the fall, new furniture to craft in the winter, new crops to plant in the spring, and new housing stuff to build in the summer.
Or maybe you collect chests and bring them to him?
We know generally where things will be, and can plan our time accordingly
His little brooch reminds me of a globe too
I'm just ready for a new Sim style game based on community efforts. I think it's going to be a game if they do what they say they are.
un really hoping people are able to make towns together
Neighborhoods = Guilds
As am I, there have been many games to say this, but backed out.
Did they ever show a shovel in this game?
Shovels in Animal Crossing were used to dig up buried stuff, which would be really cool if he was a buried treasure NPC.
I play on a RP valheim server so i do it there so im kinda hoping i can do that here
E ai clã
Not played Val in awhile lol
Tava dando os like nas bandeira br aqui, espero que com isso eles percebam o povo indo atrás e coloquem pelo menos a tradução pt
I couldn't get my pc to run Val, I gave up and went back to minecraft
But Val doesn't take much to run 😩
Do remember this is an English chat
Other chats be implemented later
what variety of latin is this
I do wonder how the building mechanic will be for having a variety
Right?? Super weird, my pc can run pretty much anything else too, it's not low spec
valheim is more demanding than it looks, that's for sure.
textures aren't there, but its got a lot of effects
very poor optimization I think
most likely.
Yeah I remember it ran slightly better without effects
Is it CPU heavy or GPU heavy?
I hope that the Shops are albion stlye and community driven in Palia
I hope it doesn't use a centralized auction house, but who knows.
Some games don't even allow direct player to player trading.
could be cpu, a 4core cpu ran it slightly worse than a 6core cpu. as a test from my side.
by slightly wrose im talking only 10fps difference
I think you have to appreciate that players will make global trading happen anyway - at which point not having an AH is a hindrance
Trade pebbles
pebble currency
A central auction house usually bumps into an issue where if materials are really common, everyone is selling them and undercutting by a penny.
i love it when something is 0.01% cheaper than the thing i listed.
Then eventually the materials are like "Why farm when I have plenty of pennies?"
Yes that's right - But my point is you can either have that happen ingame in an AH or off on a website, much like Warframe
I'd hope this game had direct player to player trade
When players want to trade and reach the largest audience, they will
I mean, I hope they have a player stall system, but probably not.
not a centralised one. maybe one per town or you go to the black smith to buy iron from and players have to sell iron to the black smith for him to be able to sell iron to other players so simialer but more actual shops for certain catagories
And I'd like to see separate AHs, like one town has their own. And so on. Because if the towns are far enough apart then there should be different items for sale. Or if one community decides that they are "clothing" focused and another farming, then they should be different markets.
agree 100%
Albion uses this system and prices are still rock bottom on various things
I personally don't think there will be a player-driven economy. There appears to be a shipping bin in the trailer at the entrance of the plot. Just a hunch, but I think it will be more like a MMO version of Stardew Valley. But I will be following the development to find out!
I love that idea especially if different towns could focus on one thing and then trade between towns
you don't want everything being the same having towns be unique makes adventure more enjoyable
Agree
it gives you a reason to travel and like visit other towns and such and so forth
I think this is probably where we are more likely at in the game as far as we know. There doesn't seem to be much incentive to make money from the small snippets we've received.
I'd love to see fishing towns, mining towns ad so on.
Such a good idea
One thing about auction houses is that they remove a lot of player interaction
If this is a social game, that might be bad.
So your belief is the mechanic should be a player has to stand at a stall and sell to those walking by?
that is true that is why im hoping theres player made shop fronts where they can sell stuff at
if they have a npc that sells stuff there it could work
Yeah, that could, but then that defeats the player interaction bit... hmmmm
if there is a player made town there could be someone that does mining and sells specific stuff
I don't think a lot of players want to stand by their stall though. So you either have an open stand without needing to be by it (so no interaction); or force players to stand idly by and try persuade those who do come to buy
This is true, but for your casual or busy players, this is often their only option.
What some games do is they have NPC run stalls, but make sure that you know who is running it.
If they don't go with AH or trade stalls, maybe a barter system.
Since we haven't really seen money involved, a Barter house for the exchanging of goods
Correct - and i think this had typically led to either ingame mechanics (AH) or websites that basically act as your advertisement
they could have a option to man the stand and dismiss the npc if you have a NPC there you only make say 75% of the money per item sold. which then insentives you to be there if you choose to which would then create player interaction
Auction house systems do the taxing thing as well in a lot of games. That sometimes gets people to interact through direct trading.
Most of the time it just makes a gold sink that everyone bites the bullet for, though.
Tough design choice!
I'm thinking a billboard type system. Example, you have 100 logs, but no ore, and you have no time to get it for yourself. You post on a town billboard that you are willing to part with x wood for z ore.
it could be a afk stall. Back when I tried the mmo wakfu there was a type of housing called a house bag. You could do some small stuff through tile and stuff but there was a market item you could place. and when you where in the bag players can see what was for sale.
Oh, an order system?
Like you place an order and then somebody delivers it to your home?
Don't think I've seen anything like that before.
shrew this is the second song you got stuck in my head, but i'm not complaining. keep it up.
im really hoping to be accepted in the pre alpha.
FLYFF had this mechanic for afk trading
not sure about their gender and they have a big mechanic/inventor vibe
https://palia.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Media-Carousel05-1024x576.jpg
Yeah not one i've had too much interaction with but i think it sounds like a solid design choice. I'm struggling to think of a game i've played that's used it - did Mortal Online ever use it (Not in my time playing it) & that is a very poor comparison game for game anyway.
I'm a fan of bartering in the real world. So it should be in agame
Having to trade manually sucks, that’s going back to the Stone Age
Yup, prosthetic limb and goggles is a sure mechanic vibe
I think that guy with the cap is that guy, but not sure.
That's why I'm suggesting a barter system
I wonder if there will be a animal farming option
I got a song stuck in your head?
pure imagination and i'll make a man out of you because of your gifs
Oh lol
also hello beautiful people good to see you again
I hope so, I asked about it in the first Q&A but it wasn't touched on yet. In the unofficial FAQ, they mentioned that they have discussed it, I think. Been a while since I looked at it.
have a nice [insert time of day]
Hello
Hello there
that thing is rare!
Hello!! 💕
Hey guys I was searching thru questions and may people ask if there will be daily rewards for longing in. What do you think about that mechanic? I personally think this mechanic is a bad sign. If game need to offer daily rewards for just logging it means that gameplay is not good enough to keep you interested in coming back day by day.
Prieston followed the Bro Code
Or it's just a bit extra for people who log in and enjoy playing daily
I think daily login rewards aren't needed if you have a farm on your plot of land or something.
Oh-no! Non Palia gifs! Somebody call the fun police!
Sorry, police line broke,
Totally had missed the mechanic leg!
The big glasses give me aviator vibes
Let's have an adventure to the library today! To find out more about Grimalkin Culture
It's a bit hidden yeah ^^
Some games use login rewards as a way to get players to login and see their guild messages. Player home stuff though would achieve the same thing.
I don't mean daily quests or something to do every day I mean a reward for just log in.
Hello everyone, hope you're all having a great day
So whats the topic of today's heresy?
-I mean discussion
Log in rewards
Ah
Interesting lecture today!
grabs his cloak
Anyone else coming?
Yeah bad sign, floods inventory with stuff I don't want usually
hiya!
I see, heresy of the highest magnitude
Too lazy to go, can I just copy your notes?
The only things I don't really like about login rewards is when they give you stuff that encourages you to make multiple accounts to harvest stuff to sell to other players or funnel into one account. When you need to farm multiple accounts daily, that gets old fast.
Good ol' FOMO mechanics. Are people actively encouraging them to add them?
I'll provide a copy of what we learn today!
Sure thing!
Yaaay
At least it isn't Boundless forcing you to play half an hour per day to claim your daily reward
I mean daily quests are fine and something to do changing every day is fun but typically game don't need build in daily rewards for just being in game if it's good.
On the topic of taking notes, it'd be neat to get the wiki going for real
It depends on what target goals are set by investors, usually you have to balance your game mechanics and user satisfaction with the demands from the investors, that's where systems like login bonus come in play since it increases the game activity with increase the company/game value
A wiki would be nice when the game is 100% publicly availbable
Id much rather see cumulative catch-up mechanics than daily login rewards
More carrot, less stick
I think we will need to wait until no NDA than we will have enough info for wiki
Personally i think it's a great way to keep track of lore
Dirty to you, but the cat is feeling like the star of the avenue with all that animal poop smell
You're lucky they didn't eat garbage, too
Ah yes in terms of in depth content we don't have much, but keeping a history of reveals and everything is easier done there
Let the investors pressure that kind of thing, if players start asking for it, devs may make a poor decision for the wrong reason
There's a wiki that I've seen, but it's only useful for looking up concept art.
My previous cat did that.
Man. I wish I had a cat to sit in my lap and pet.
login rewards in the form of extra currency or materials is fine
Cats never sit where you want them to
are they?
The issue is, you won't see a MMO without Investor involvement since it's "high risk", the question is just how much of what systems are implmented to compromise for everyone.
Did your previous cat have tusks and a flat face and bushy tail? Your chat may have been a Chappa
I have 3 cats, unrelated to that I have never owned clothes that are not full of cat hair
mine tends to sit on my keyboard when I am online
as long as said mats are easily accessible
How is your ear?
I think login rewards are needed. Same as daily events.
So that I could play as in Guild Wars 2 just to casually enter the game, take the rewards and do a couple of dragon bosses for dailies
We already know this game has investors, of which we are not among them. I don't think we should give them bad ideas though!
Is just as bad :( made an appointment in 2 days though >.>
Same here, but no dragon bosses early on. So just login rewards.
idk how that would be seen as an advantage, it's just a bonus to get you to login every day
Ew login rewards
Rested XP > Login rewards
What if the login rewards are only used for special cosmetic currency that is account-bound?
What if we don't use addictive mechanisms
I just hope this game does not turn into a pay to play game
account wide progression for achievements and cosmetics > anything else
Shrew rewards to give out to Pals
I'm pretty sure they also want to make the best possible game for everyone actually playing 🙂 I'm just a a bit realistic from my expirience working in and with people of the game industry
Being addictive is sort of a key element of mmos I think
I don't really see daily log-ins as addictive mechanisms, like someone said above they play more to a person's fear of missing out
Forms a habit
not a bad one tho?
Kinda bad if you feel you have to login just to not miss out
you're not gambling loot boxes
I understand your motive, but I, in my opinion, don't believe FOMO mechanics are an ethical option
you're clicking one button
If you're not logging in you're not playing the game anyway 😂
Dont create too many systems is my standpoint
RNG drop rates also can be addictive, but that stuff is almost an MMORPG staple.
It is a bad one you just log in for reward and not because you like the game
missing out is not playing, not getting 5 pieces of lumber
Login rewards are i games because developers know it's never just that. Once you've started the game you're way more liekly to stay in it for a while than to just quit again
I once played a text based mafia game, every day at midnight you'd have to quickly buy a new protection service otherwise people could rob you for millions, so at midnight people would spam names to see who missed out on protection with a mere second, I had to leave that game due to that
what?
I know it sound crazy but this how it works
Anyway, while to a good bunch of people it can act as increasing playtime, personally I find login rewards annoying. Means I feel I have to start the game even if I don't feel like playing. Do that enough and I won't even feel like playing anymore. (though that effect is stronger for "dailies" you shouldn't miss out on, essentially made me quit playing Genshin and AC:NH)
I mean, in the first place I don't even think Palia would need a login reward system due to what the game seems to play around with
My fellow Pals and the wholesome of the game makes me calm and happy
Yes its literally using psychology to trick player to play more. Insidious, even by my standards
Anyways, home gardening is a daily login reward. Change my mind!
You don't have to log in if you don't feel like playing.
Just make a game i WANT to waste my time in.
And by not logging in I'm missing out on 50 lumber that I later have to grind instead
Thats all the incentive needd
I personally prefere monthly based quests, especially community based ones. Since you're actually working towards something, and you could make the unique to the month so the January Monthly is different then the April Monthly
You don't have to grind that resource or reward, either.
oh sorry for the mention above @autumn portal
A game should make you want to waste your time. However, a game shouldn't make you feel like you're wasting your time.
Sure, I can just sit around in the game and not craft anything I guess :p
I mean on days you want to play, you get the daily reward.
On days you don't, you don't.
Lol agreed, sunshine and fresh air and maybe some tomatoes if I do it right this year
What day does the game come out?
nobody knows
I have only linux installed nowadays. I hope so much that there will be a possibility for me to play the game without installing windows or buying a mac.
Yes, but theres the notion that I should login so I don't miss the reward, because otherwise later on I have to use time to get what I got from the reward instead. And usually more time than it takes to "justl ogin"
I'm not arguing for or against such a system by the way, but the main point was that every game with a login system is a bad game and other people have an issue with it because it causes them to feel addicted or feel like they're missing out
But it almost evey single time come with a Combo rewards for logging day by day
Ah, yeah, thats extra bad 😂
"Login for every day in these 30 days or you won't get the big reward at the end!"
Yes! Exactly!
Yeah, but while everything is just speculation right now it's hard to dismiss an entire system as just bad entirely
also I beg for Palia to get a mobile client down the line, so I can do my daily quests or life skilling on the go
Anyway, if you like the game, you don't need login rewards. Otherwise they just act as a trick to get you to play more
If you like the game you login every day regardless
Exactly, so you don't need a reward for it
Daily rewards in games you're not playing don't affect you
?
Daily rewards can affect you especially if it is combined with cosmentics that require you to login for 60 days streight
If there is going to be a "world chat" option I hope it is regulated so there are no spam fights everyone has to watch
Like trade chat? 😂
Is Palia in Spanish or only in English? o.o
Big false.
Only in English as of now
English so far
ooh
That's your own personal issue
okey
yes I hate spam wars in trade or world chat so annoying
If I see trades spammed in the world-chat, I'm making garbage offers
Palia proximity voice chat would be so much fun
Portuguese
No, its provable.
I think they did mention wanting to do something with other languages at some point
Yes.
When I don't like a game, I don't bother with the daily login rewards, but I will admit that there are days I simply cannot log in.
They are adding it when the game will be released or maybe before that, but this pre-alpha and maybe the alpha will be english only
DM me papers, that sounds like an interesting read
oh good
Daily rewards are not bad on first glace but they make a habit of longing in even when you don't want to. It doesn't mean you stop liking the game but you fell pressured to do something and it's bad to me.
okey thanks
Yeah, I can agree on that. Felt it first-hand
Well, you can say that to pretty much anything though. Don't like PvP? Thats your own personal issue. If you don't play the game, PvP in it doesn't affect you
Wait, what style of daily logins we talking about? Like the ones where every month you start off with a clean slate?
There's games that have daily login rewards where you do not lose progress of the rewards if you don't log in one of the days.
You have no interest in reading about it if you are going to dismiss it so readily, why should I do that work for you?
