I'd much rather see seasonal crops personally. Not just "plant it all" in spring and pick it all in the fall to get the best bonus. If you make seasons provide just flat bonuses to harvesting, planting, building... everyone will feel forced to do those things during those times.

Not forced, but it's slightly cheaper/faster. So that we're not always trying to do everything in one big blur. We rotate with the seasons much like communities did in real life before the industrial revolution.
