Actually animal breeding should be something they look into. Obviously they will need to be careful about it with the whole family friendly thing they got going, but it would be super interesting to tame pets with exotic features and try to pass those genes down. Could add some endgame viability if they add it.

I think this really is the main appeal. The mmo genre has become aweful stagnant and the core gameplay loop of grinding long hours for relatively minor upgrades is something that a lot of people who grew up on mmo's simply don't have the time for anymore.

Precisely. I've played dozens of MMOs and each one at it's core was the same as the last. Sometimes new mechanics were added but all in all they were the same. If Palia wants to be something truly great, it has to bring something entirely new to the table in order to re-energize all the people who burned out on MMOs like me.

At the end of the day the folks behind Palia seem like the kind that will use the minimum possible monetisation to ensure that they can get paid and turn their vision into a reality. The more interest, the more realistic it will be that we get a palpable monetisation method

To be fair if you want to incentivize a game to do well a sub is a good way to go. f2p with micros can easily start to push an unhealthy drive for the game. I really hope the game has a core gameplay loop that is actually just fun for funs sake (like the games its compared to) and doesn't fall into the typical mmo trappings of forcing grind upon the player to keep them occupied
