I think combat is definitely a must if you wanna have a large mmo community, but for this type of game maybe it should be an optional part of the game

agreed, i too mostly prefer hunting haha, when i played the most recent far cry games i spent a significant amount more time prowling through the woods stalking deer than i spent fighting enemies. same goes with valheim of hunting deer/boar rather than progressing :p

LOTR online instances by neighborhood; BDO instances by house/apartment; instancing really isnt necessary if you're ok with a LOT of player housing around the map. Its an issue in traditional MMOs with lots of space needed for mobs/quest, less so in a game like this

I wouldn't like stamina that just has you stand around a bit to regen before you do more I guess. But there are other ways to go about it. For example you could have a stamina bar that acts like durability does in FF14. It starts at 100% as soon as you start e.g. chopping a tree, then decreases with the actions you take. If it runs out you fail. If not you get the material.
There could be variety, so it may be that you make more progress on felling if you hit the right spots, but if you have enough stamina you could also just be lazy and hit the most convenient spot over and over. Stuff like that
But if they already said, no stamina..
