Lacie some fishing feedback:

• this ones general, but can the team for the love of everything start thinking past RNG. We're not playing WoW anymore and times have moved on. We really need to see more earnable ways to getting items. Be they travelling sales guys from the capital, maybe this guy could appear monthly and have a rotating stock? Utilize skills guilds more. Use medals more (tish literally has nothing outside 2 decos...)
• the RNG thing then leads onto the monstrosity below. That wall represents my attempts at the shork (it also doesn't show everything, like eels caught and none stars due to infected not yielding star fish, likely bug, or perhaps intended, who knows). Either way it's soul destroying, in a game that shouldn't feel like a chore, this does, it's quite hideous and feels like a korean grind MMO.
• going on from the above, infected pools should yield star fish, but like I say I dunno if they're bugged or not, or someone thought they should act this way.
• the changes made to bait are great, but (and as the note say) the sheer amount of crazy it has caused with specific time of day fish is mad.
• perfect caught fish exp seems to low (not sure if on all fish, or specific to a few), for example lake sharks (I know, I don't have enough of those...) when pefectly caught yield 258 exp (full focus boost etc), without perfect only 240 exp, that's just 18 difference, very low.
• the exp gained in EW overall for fishing is great, the amount of pools outside of the docks, not so much (ponds need help)
• pool spawn timers for ponds need decreasing (for all zones).
• kilima lake pool spawns need to increase or their respawn times decreasing, they're lacking

I definitely preferred when each type of bait could only attract X fish, it made trying to get fish available at only a certain time of day possible. If fish are going to overlap bait types, then the time of day requirements need to be done away with.

But to actually answer the question.
This didn't used to always happen. It's been a bug for over a year, but didn't start happening until a few months after the beta release.
Each new room gets a homestead lamp included as apart of the build. When the room is first built you'll see it in the center ceiling of that room.
When an item becomes disconnected, or orphaned, from a peaceable area it gets reset to what has been coined as the "lamp zone".
There's something wrong with the game where when the lamp spawns with the completion of the building it doesn't connect to the ceiling like it should, so it spawns in the right spot, but disconnected.
As a result the lamp gets reset to the lamp zone after a plot refresh.

If you ever start glitching, you'll come well acquainted with the lamp zone.

If you want to do it intentionally, put an item down in the Makeshift tent, pick up the tent (not the item), leave your plot, and come back.

what i remember of the reason they gave, was that sometimes the position would break and leave the decoration in an inaccessible place - out of bounds, under the ground, etc. where it couldn't be recovered. so they gave it a designated place to spawn instead where it could be retrieved

the term "upended". but kidding aside, i have experimented with a bunch of items and since most items either stick to the walls or the floor/ground, they dont have this issue. wall stuck items directly go to storage, and while most floor do too, some items like kitchen equipment get arranged out front floating a foot in air as well. my theory is missing code to handle those particular instances. since the ceiling lights arent on the floor per se, but are vertically placed, the game doesnt think it should be stored in storage and is just hanging independently. however, there is no space for them to latch on to, and they get thrown to the unusable area outside the plot. similarly, with the equipment, they arent decor, so arent treated as such, BUT since their placement was removed implicitly, they get reset to the plot jail (outside area), common across all plots. My views as a programmer/bug tester/bug enjoyer XD

Even before, fishing was already the last skill for me and my friend to level up. I only fish to get quests done and he only fished for quests and decor... Before this update the unicorn fish was really hard to get, but now I am pretty confused about how fishing works at all... I wonder if the people who haven't seen the update page know something has changed?
But yeah, fair to say that I am not looking forward to try getting that mermaid T-T Most skills are dynamic in some way but Fishing... you're just stuck in a single location for hours or real-life days and no one can help you make your time any better hahaha aside from fishing next to you a total of 5 times for the buff and maybe staying in a call out of game so you won't fall asleep mid-fishing

Imagine now, you finally hook an epic fish after hours rotting by the edge of a lake, and because your buff has work out, you struggle so much you lose the fish :))))))) and now u have to try 100 more times at least to hook it again

I feel like most if not all exploration skills have something to track rare items or creatures, and when I first played Palia, I thought that was what the tracker for fishing did
its nice to have a few starred fish for cooking and decor, but I doubt we need this many compared to uncommon or higher fish
Even at high level, I dont know if I'm getting them any easier now
There is many more fish than huntable creatures and they're still trackable so Idk why fish isn't T-T I wished pools had a higher change for rarer fish or if the tracker showed the pools that have rarer fish oooooorrr if the jumping fish on the pools displayed the fish that is available 👀
I am not a huge fan of bug catching (only because of my playstyle haha) but I 100% would prefer looking around for the RTB for an entire week than getting another unicorn fish hahahah

I dont remember if I gave feedback on this but to me there is a great skill imbalance currently. Id expect each skill level improves the skill but no, only cooking and gardening. Plus there is no point to level them a lot except 1 time decorations.

There's an old trick to get benches onto porches, but it may be unavailable to you. During winter, the store outside of Zeki's sells a red present. You can place the present on the ground, then carefully place the item you want on the porch on top of the present. The present can then be placed on the porch with the item attached. Unfortunately the present is still visible so you will need to cover it up with flowers or other items. Again though, if you weren't here to snag winter items then you can't do this particular trick.

Any object with a placeable grid works for floating/sinking. Items that cannot be placed on tables, will not be picked up by a paver either. You need to use a cup trick to get the paver to "pick them up" So if you were to place a cup on top of the Spring fever swing, and ALT select the swing by the cup, you are able to move it with the paver. Lmk if you have questions.

If you alt grab something with a pillar, for example, you can place it against a wall :) cause you can do that kind of placement with a pillar, and so on. You can really get creative by alt grabbing things by different items :)

I'm solo hunting on a switch and when I'm after ogapuus, my best chance is to be far enough away that I can snipe them without them startling. This is usually in a high spot, not fun to get to quickly. So I try to wait for multiple takedowns before collecting. Same with shmoles. I want to know if anyone knows how long I actually have before I lose the loot

I understand what you mean. But it's also nice to have communication and see what was fixed, too, with hotfixes. I've seen some ppl ask what something might of been fixed, even if it's something like, "Fixed something to help with some of the lag" (like you did this time)

Like I said above, most games that do quick hotfixes, try to put out something that explains what was fixed. Even if it might seem too technical and boring. It's just nice to have that communication.

They are flow treas, that require more than one person to take them down. Depending on the size of the tree and the level of your axe, you may be able to take down the smaller trees alone.

I think the “life simulation” tag of this game needs to be removed because in hunting sneaking, tracking and killing prey from a distance is real. Having the prey take 10 shots is not life simulation.

It either needs to be - 1 shot kills on heart , head at distance or undetected at long range. As opposed to runs at any point when shot at and taking 10 arrows whether up close or 80 meters away.

Its a game , games need balance. Forcing players to play a linear way is what kills games and kills enjoyment.

That's not what the issue is. They don't, in fact, stand still if you're not hunting them by sniping them.

No buddy, i dont like that i just started the game which i tried under pretence of being a life simulator / rpg style game and when trying the game as it was i enjoyed the hunting and it felt more realistic that if you charged the animals and had people close it would fright and run but if you were smart and hunted from a distance then you could get that clean kill - that is a balanced realistic version.

I agree that a mob not running when one or two deer are popped off was unbalanced but i assumed the intent was if you hunt smart you get the kill if you hunt dumb you have to chase it.

"A lot of the narrow and twisty areas and areas, were quite disorienting for some people, especially due to how dark a lot of those areas are. It's giving some folks vertigo and migraines-- especially because of how many different lights, colours and shapes are in one specific spot. It also feels very "closed in", due to not being able to see much of the horizon or sky. Also noted that the climbing and jumping, being done in a clockwise motion, has also made it a bit worse."

Well that's one thing I think they got right for Palia, it seems like they never really intended for it to be a demanding time sink but rather something you go to between games

Though some people definitely enjoy the decorating so much they've managed to keep at it for those 1k+ hours lol

Yeah I haven't played with that too much as the whole decorating thing isn't my cup of tea - part of why I fell off the Palia train - but the way it's presented in the story has been cool

I definitely wanted Palia to be more like an MMO version of Fantasy Life. The boss trees, ore nodes, fish, etc. are cool - how you have to find sweet spots, use skills, etc. to get the most out of it.

Could have done a lot with that in a group setting!

so here are my thoughts on the palia switch situation (I play on pc, switch, and now xbox one s for context):

One thing I forget and I think others do as well is that the switch is over 8 years old and has been described as a powerful handheld and a capable console. tldr the switch isn't built to handle Palia 🤣 I am a freak of nature and actually prefer hunting on the switch minus the glitches. I'm sure I can change some settings around. I think that we all need to continue to submit tickets, but I am curious how Palia will run on the switch 2.

like when you fish and have to keep the bracket on the fish to catch it. maybe controller players could have a setting to either allow faster movement or more stabilized movement depending on their individual needs

There's been a handful of ideas that people have suggested and theorycrafted about. Fishing Traps, so people can slowly accumulate fish, a toggle for "auto fishing/reeling" (but it would take longer than it usually would, to balance it out), a fishing pond that you can craft that can slowly get fish on your plot, fishing nets that can be used by 2-4 players to increase fish yield (along with, helping from other players too! of course!)

from what i remember, the geysers can also be... a little odd. Sometimes they shoot you high, sometimes they don't shoot you that high. it just.. varies. Idk if theyve fixed that at all tho 🥲 I just remember it being inconsistent.
