oh i was including both layoffs and voluntary
the management must think they havent caused any issues
Ah okay, yeah I dunno about layoff numbers. I was going off reviews from Glassdoor talking about "what was left" of the OG team
and this is 6-month old info, i imagine it's not gotten much better if at all
they don't (if recent employee reviews are to be believed) and that is exactly the problem and why the game is in such a terrible state.
they've basically continued the behaviour that caused everybody to leave in the first place.
hopefully when the game goes down we get a private server thats run way better
hopefully someone smuggles the code out like they did with CoX and development can continue
yeah thats what ive been hoping when i started losing hope. i hope it can pull a toontown and thrive. this kind of game can thrive in the right hands
I love that CoX is still getting active content development over on Homecoming
i'm still hoping they pull out of the dive and can branch out like they wanted to
that would require management to either be swept by DBG or to get their heads outta their rear
i don't know if any management changes have happened since DBG took over but given the state of the game it seems not?
i am aware of some, yes, but the trick with 'management' complaints is that it's hard to a) know the full story and b) know whether people moving/ departing were part of 'the problem'
yeah, we don't know if the "problem" people are gone
I like th is game a lot but it's also very hard to ignore the issues, this is as a "new" player (<1 month)
I can't imagine the problems long term players have been through
Im going to have more hope that the Pixie Hollow MMO makes a comeback.
Also, remember to go feed your Neopets. They miss you.
I don't remember my login
And the AOL account the email was hooked up to is long dead. lol
i mean the code has always been a bit... porous? is probably the best way to put it
shoutout to the time in alpha 1 that placing a specific couch up against a wall would boot everyone off the entire shard
or the floating pies immortalized in a blog post - if you put your food down on a table, it would go visit other players' lots after you left
for me personally actually not that many, but I'm also evading most bugs apparently even tho I play daily since open beta started last year(a bit less the last few weeks)
but there were definitely issues players had to deal with
if only the customer support was actually helpful and let me get my neopets account back
I tried to get back into mine too but yeah, got ignored/no reply 🥲
I guess my Neopets will all be DEAD
oh, i got reply, but they would continuously not listen to what i said, repeat the same thing, or just straight up wasn't helpful. Then told me to appeal the ticket, only to be told, by the same person the exaclty same things. It was frustrating.
Oh wow, I didn't even get a reply. lol
I can't even find my account using the user search function. Idk if it somehow got deleted. I had a cybunny, the griffin thing, and the Lupus.
The only pet name I remember was Sky5g, my griffin
A very forward thinking name for... 2001 maybe?

Kids these days have it so easy with their trees just teleporting to other plots they own... Back in our day, my tree mazes would teleport to someone else's plot. 😭

How's Palia's playercount lately? Is it healthy enough to assume that the game will be online for years to come?
I've checked steam charts before and it said about 5.000 players were playing the game. While I am aware it exists on other platforms such as Nintendo Switch, it brought me the question if there's even enough players playing the game for it to be worth the server costs. I personally like the game a lot, I just worry about the future of it.
steam charts are the only recent published numbers, anything anyone else tells you (unless a dev were to respond for some reason) would be purely speculation. the servers are also small so it would be hard to make an accurate guess...
That's fair. It was just a thought I had because I really want this game to actually succeed. I wonder how it will do once it leaves the beta.

will entirely depend on how well the elderwoods update goes and how many filler updates we get next year. if it's anything like it was this past year, while i do love this game, i don't think it will be here this time next year.
We did have good updates this year up until August-ish
Yeah this game is hinged on Elderwood's success and I'm really hoping that the investors understand that and give them time to actually do it right. I am willing to wait longer if I know it'll be done properly.
yes, things that can be done within a day and then again nothing for those that have done everything afterwards
After that, the quality of updates started to plummet (which may or may not be due to them working on Elderwoods)
We've been getting only plushies, decor, premium items and reruns of old content (Maji Market, Winterlights)
Truthfully, I would much rather they focus on fixing quality of life bugs and things that were broken in the last updates before they put any focus on Elderwood, I'm hoping that the time frame they gave us for the new expansion indicates that they'll be addressing those issues before completing it. We shall see. I feel really bad for switch users right now. I see so much excitement in those players and it sounds like the game is practically unplayable as it is at the moment. They really need to hammer out those bugs before releasing new content that could possibly break it even further.
At the same time you can't deny the game is starved of content at this point, so makes sense why they would prioritize that
i would be happy if they announced that they are going to do just a bug/qol update. nothing new just bug/qol fixes... and they actually fix and not break the game further
Yeah. The game is starved for content but why would I play a broken game that has content over a game I can reliably play mostly bug free

There's no way they can do all three:
- Deal with the frustrating and progression breaking bugs in the game.
- Make Elderwoods good enough to attract a bunch of new players and satisfy the veterans.
- Port the game to two more consoles.
Also, I'm not sure how much of an impact porting to PS5 and XBox is going to have. Those two aren't exactly known to be cozy game machines. I truly believe they shot themselves in the foot by releasing on both Switch and steam too early. Those are the two biggest cozy game markets and S6 gave them an inferior product.
Definitely agree. If it's truly a beta, you should be focusing on the content and bug fixes for your main platform before rolling out elsewhere.
I maintain that they released to the public too early in general, but also releasing on Switch only a few months later was a disaster.
On the upside though, going public helped at least get out of the echo chamber of toxic positivity that was early tests.
There's still a little too much of that imo. I can already hear the excuses for when 1.0 is released and we're drowning in bugs.
Yeah for sure. I get the desire to love the game, I just wish it could be so much more than it ended up being.
Oh they're trying to put it out on Xbox and PS5 now too?! Absolutely not. Haha fix the game and provide more content before doing anything else. FFS.
That doesn't make sense at all. Not even from a business standpoint.
yeah current timeline seems to be elderwoods into xbox/Ps5 and 1.0 release next year
Potentially mobile too
I might be cynical, and rightfully so in my opinion, but this is seeming more and more like a quick cash grab. 😬
I really don't understand why they would rush to get it multiplatform when it barely works on the two we have already.
majority of the game works fine on PC honestly for most players
mainly switch is the problem child
also well if we can trust a glassdoor review from june: they make barely enough revenue to cover operating costs so no clue if I'd call it cash grab
Can we use alt accounts anymore? I cant seem to log on
we can
make sure that ur mail has no space at the end
if the issue persists folks over in #💻│tech-help can probably help u with that
Er, sorry I mistyped. I meand I can't log out of my main account to log into my alt - if that makes sense.
are u playing on switch/steam?
u can only log out and into other accounts freely through the native launcher and epic games
to play on another acc on steam/switch
u'd need to make another steam/nintendo account
It certainly started out as a passion project but somewhere along the line the vision seems like it got lost in favor of just making the money back that they lost, yeah...
Ooh i see, yea i am on steam! thank you! i will get the native launcher too
They deserve to be paid... do they not?
I mean, I've supported them in the past but at the same time if you hire someone to clean your house and instead they track mud through it, do you still pay them?
Due to varying VFX settings among players, snowballs can cause a flashbang effect, so please refrain from throwing snowballs at known or unknown players without their consent. It may trigger seizures, migraines, or nausea in photosensitive individuals when hit due to the flashbang effect.
yes of course if they do the job... this is a FREE game
A cash grab would insinuate no updates and only putting out high priced products then not furthing their project. Nothing about this game is a cash grab. It would not be in production still if it were. It's a free game on multiple platforms. You aren't required to pay money for any part of your experience in the game. Nothing is pay gated.
You can be frustrated that it's not out fast enough or the bugs are being fixed to your liking, but its obviously a small team with a struggling budget and offering one of the best free cozy game experiences that is very accessable
It's insulting to people putting amazing effort into the game to call it a cash grab just because they aren't working faster on a free game.
Free to play is a calculated and sometimes predatory business strategy that relies on and expects people to spend more than they would have had the game been a single purchase.
I spent somewhere around $60 back when I had faith in the company and liked the pitch of the game... I'm not even sure if it'd be worth $30 in its current state if it was a typical single player game.
I may not be knowledgeable enough about the gaming industry insofar as budgets and expenses for games are concerned, but I guess I'm just kind of wondering how 50 million dollars is a struggling budget...
There is absolutely nothing predatory about anything they are offering for real money. I have worked in the gaming industry and marketing and there is absolutely NOTHING predatory about offering cosmetics for money.
can we not today omg
im so sick of the "but the game is free why are you complaining?" argument SO MUCH
That is a very low budget for a video game that is this quality and with the amount of gameplay it offers. Even more so that it is an online game with almost unlimited building
@fiery perch sorry for the ping, in regards to snowballs, since ive only played since march i never witnessed them last year so information is great. anywhoooo, im assuming they were promoted last year to and when they did make it in game they just default came with a flash effect?
i did some looking into it and found footage of them not flashbanging so i wish to bother s6 personally about this matter on a sunday
You can complain. Everyone can complain but saying its a cash grab or predatory is 110% false.
A lot of our frustrations are that they haven't been putting out quality updates. High-priced products without furthering the project is 90% of what we've gotten over the last few months.
Palia's entire end-game is decorating and cosmetics, so a large part of that experience is gated behind money. They've already dipped their toes into P2W a bit with the addition of housing plot landscapes and a system that rewards you for getting people to visit and vote for your housing plot.
The initial budget was $50 million with a team of around 150-200 people as well. That's where most of this frustration stems from... With that amount of resources, this game should be so much more than it is.
To break topic real quick, I have also noticed that the flash seems intermittent for me, it doesn't always happen. Not sure if that's intentional or not as I wasn't around last year's Winterlights
all information is good information
Can you explain how housing landscapes is P2W?
have you seen them? they look much better then the default plot so people are going to want to visit them way more then anyone default plot area
Looking better in a private instance =/= P2W it is flat out a cosmetic
Getting people to visit and react to your housing plot is, in theory, easier to do if it's unique / shows off a different theme than normal.
I don't think it's fully P2W, as I said it's just dipping the toes in, but we've already seen them go back on other promises made so I'm wary about anything that pushes them closer to that slope.
paying to win means you get a STRATEGIC advantage over other players that can not compete with you in the same manner with just game play. there is NO strategic advantage of your own personal instance being more attractive
it makes it easier to get votes and the nameplates thats for sure
People.. just come to your house if they are your friends
Keep in mind, there are OG players here who played the game for a long time. So, if you trying to counter the fact that, "its a free game, they deserve to be paid.", i will stop you right there. 🖐️ Mainly because, if the OG said they are getting tired of empty promises, bugs that haven't been fixed for years, etc, THAT'S gotta said something.
I have been playing since closed beta
well disagree to agree then, we are tired or is it agree to disagree, either way i disagree.
thats honestly not true, if the housetour feature would visibly tell u which landscape is used then of course yes
prime example was one of the 2 leaked landscapes cheaters used
1 of them got 0 attention bcs of how the housetour stuff works
They don't owe you anything. Its a free game. If you paid money for cosmetics and you own them, that is all you are owed.
I've been playing since pre-alpha in 2021, which is why my opinions are quite a bit more soured than others.
im just tired of the constant cosmetics and the complete lack of content or the acknowledgement of bugs and things that can hurt players with disabilities, but they ignore feedback and turn around and turn the feedback into something completely different...
like the snowball glitch shouldnt have passed testing at all. that will hurt someone bad
your opinions are just as valid <3
You aren't married to the game. You can play anything else at any time and wait like everyone else. It is a free game and a very good one at that. There are bugs but for what it is it is absolutely not a cash grab or predatory
i mean... the snowball glitch is more then just a bug. its something that can hurt someone
If you want to give them $, go for it. But, im not giving my $ for them until they fix the bugs. That's my choice.
They obviously don't owe us anything, correct.
But we'd still like to see them turn around and succeed which is why we're being so critical... Because the current course they're on is certainly not working.
oh i know and snowball need to be fixed and that's is true
and the fact they showed in the newest trailer, snowball fights... if the glitch isnt fixed by then its going to be a disaster
Why isn't it working if there is still an active player base?
cause its a big management problem. management refuses to listen to a thing and making horrible decisions
what decisions?
That active playerbase has shrunk 40% over the last four months.
Their dev team size has had three rounds of layoffs, so clearly they're not making enough money.
It's does not matter if there still people playing, we played the game despite the really bad bugs, glitches, and seizure / epilepsy stuffs. WE ARE TRYING to tell s6 that its a big problems that need to address first.
pretty much what got the game into the situation its in now and the fact a lot of their employees are gone and such too
The playerbase is still active, no? And there is a patch upcoming, no?
a patch that some ppl may come back to but dunno. if they fix the snowball glitch or not
I'm not putting much faith in patches, they keep breaking stuffs
literally each new patch is a new break
exactly.
elderwoods is going to be the big turning point of the game. either it will be where the game really takes off or sinks quickly
Are you all new to gaming in general?
oh my goodness, its does not matter if we new to this.
no. ive played a lot of games before
I've never played a live service game, AAA or not that didnt break something after a patch
even a new player can point out whats wrong with a game...
what ur point of trying to says something like that?
Billion dollar games... why in the world would you expect anything different then call the game a cashgrab if there are bugs? Why does that make any sense?
ive played WoW for a while now and there's a bug in the game where all the NPCs are on a farm. that's a funny bug i can get behind until its fixed
...again, 40% of that playerbase has left in the last four months, with more leaving every day. It's a downward trend that's been pretty steady.
I'm sure there's going to be a dedicated fanbase that will stay through anything, but I'm unsure if it's enough people spending enough money to continue operating the game.
The patch preview was, again, 90% cosmetics with nothing new and exciting gameplay related.
but the snowball bug/glitch in palia is really dangerous and ifit isnt addressed before the next patch goes live, its going o end up hurting people who have epilepsy
I don't give a crap about cosemtics stuffs, I don't care if they did throw in free stuffs but, like roan said, its 90% of it.
But.. the playerbase is still active... yes? I don't know why thats a hard question to ask without adding additional paragraphs
its the easiest to produce & how they pay their team
No, it isn't.
Why wouldn't they... its literally 100% optional
🤷♂️
they wont be eventually if S6 doesn't fix what needs to be fix, especially the health issue things, or the constant bug issues.
what is a health issue?
its a bit annoying when you can only look better if you pay money. there arent any ways to get cosmetics unless you pay. every other game ive played has had f2p cosmetics.
and the snowball glitch ive been talking about and youve been ignoring
It's so ironic that the people that claim to love this game the most are the people that are going to kill it.
epilepsy
Where?
THE SNOWBALLS
😭 that's so real
Has there been any reports of anyone suffering from real life effects of in game snowballs?
yes
clearly this isn't going anywhere and if they want to go with that mindset, go you. I'm done countering it.
Please link it from an acredited site
just shut up
No, please link it
why would it be on a site?
honestly, its one of their best patches of the year for a lot of players that care about the (unfortunate classic "cozy" game) main focus which is home decorating
its heavily subjective
So, a little off topic thing my husband pointed out that has been bothering me now too. The mailbox is backwards. Typically when you have outgoing mail the flag is up. Incoming mail is down. And I can't stop thinking about it.
Because thats a pretty serious issue, is it not?
omg now i can't unsee it 😭
yeah. and you think its going to be on a random site?
Why is this bothering you so much? With a player base decline of 40% it's probably going to look super bad to the investors and the game has to make money as quickly as possible to give them the return they're looking for. Expanding it to other platforms broadens the demographic and opens up the chance that they'll get more people paying for those cosmetics to get them their money back... At the expense of the quality of the game.
that is actually disturbing and very valid
Suffer with meeeee
it would be on a news site if a video game caused someone to have medical issues
Oh. Oh no. -eye twitch-
where i am it’s both ways 🤣
not for palia. its been under the radar for awhile and a lot of the disabled community has left because of the treatment theyve had.
the bot repeats a warning for the snowball glitch because this is the only place for this kind of news to really spread now
This is the visual glitch for Snowballs.
Don't watch if you're epileptic.
and plus a lot of people are probably sending in tickets, if you look on reddit theres tons of forms of people complaining about how palia has tons of flashing that may can an epilepsy episode
you could try to outside of the discord but most will probably not know anything about palia at all
Investors don't really look at current player base particularly if its a free to play game going onto easily accessable platforms with a very functioning and non P2W cash shop. Its not about CURRENT revenue its about FUTURE revenue which will happen if you put a free game into the hands of more people.
and yeah. this is how bad the snowball glitch is and why its such a concern for the new trailer
Like, it is a cash grab because they are hemorrhaging players and the only way to make return on investment is to try to get more players. We are telling them that the best way to do that is to fix the game but they're not doing that. They just keep pushing more cosmetics and trying to spread to other platforms with a game that isn't even working properly for people on the console they released to.
Its not a cash grab lmao
one of these days I really should put a palia discussions FAQ or somehting for when this happens
But... releasing to the switch and splitting their resources resulted in a 40% loss in players...
your the perfect customer for this game you know, auntie
So its been out on switch for how long now? More than 4 months has the playerbase declined 40% from switch or the last 4 months?
Was just thinking of you and your spinning emote.
Pretending the game should be free of criticism and concern and/or downplaying that from other is more dangerous to the company and the game than any critque can be
and if your curious why then lmk
yea cuz a lot of the time you see convos like “ i joined the discord because i found X is bugged” or their stuck on a quest some ppl don’t even know if the wiki or other helpful sites
We only have numbers from Steam, but my educated guess would lead me to believe those numbers would be similar across all platforms... And possibly worse on Switch, as that's where most of the game-breaking bugs occur.
The game wasn't even playable for several months because you couldn't use the A button.
I suppose youve never actually interacted with any games that have actually been cash grabs. You are valid to have frustrations about the game not being fixed the way you want as fast as you want. but adding malice into a project that is clearly doing its best is asinine.
the A button is still glitched even now
and as Roan said the game isn't free out of the goodness of their hearts, companies choose to do that because they think they can get more money off of F2P+microtransactions, so Palia doesn't deserve some kind of charity award or to have criticism lessened at all because of it
in fact to me it deserves more but yknow
any patches that fix the A button get broken in the next patch
And that is a fair and valid concern to have - but it does not and will not make the game predatory or a cash grab at any point what so ever.
There's more premium things that gets released now than actual content for everyone. Will it change? who knows\
F2P is absolutely the best way to make money but it isn't P2W or P2P while also providing hundreds of hours of content for free.
What do you define "winning" as in a cozy game? in a cozy online game, at that?
how is f2p the best way to make money? /genq
People spend more money in smaller amounts
People end up paying way more than they would have for a game upfront, just in smaller chunks
It's interesting that you're attributing malice to a simple observation I've made based off of what I've seen and experienced. And it's also interesting that you're making assumptions about that experience.
have u seen how expensive palia coins are for one thing
it feels like everyone is talking to brick walls at this point
I didn't ever say there was a way to win. I don't think there is. Winning is unreachable
So why are you bringing up P2W?
yeah, that's why i said there no point for us to counter them since that their mindset.
they aren't that expensive

well for you, people have other priorities..
because it was brought up already? you can scroll up if youre confused
I'm not confused, I'm directly responding to you.
that is good, then use your money for what you need it for
i can spend $60 for foods than premium stuffs.
yes, you can you're an adult and have that choice
irl stuffs are great :D
i’m not an “accredited site”, which probably means you won’t listen to my anecdote. but i barely glanced at a gif of it that was posted and immediately got a migraine. i asked my fren next to me to look at the gif and they were like, “yeeee don’t look at that, you will have a seizure, who would post something like that in such a wide-reaching channel?”
i’m not willing to risk my health to test out whether or not the flashbang will do even worse than a migraine to me if i look at it for ya, sorry.
That's fine, just don't play the game if its a hazard to your health.
and there it is...
... Jesus Christ. Hope my "malice" managed to cure any boredom today. Lol

im surprised a mod hasnt come in here yet but i bet theyre watching and are very amsued by this lol
I'm getting coffee IRL right now lmfao
The way they bundle the coins and have odd costs for outfits is predatory. It requires you to spend more than you need, and then eventually spend more money again when you want to get rid of those leftover coins.
The way they use FOMO as a "deal" is predatory as well, vaguely stating that something is around for a limited time and that they're not sure if it'll come back again at a later date.
Try saying that for people who live outside the US/EU with fluctuating exchange rates.
The fact they're not "that expensive" for you, doesn't apply for others.
Would you charge less for your services at your job so someone else could afford it? Would you be willing to get paid less so someone else could have your work?
that is completely missing the point
Actually if you have epilepsy then you know that these things affect you and should be taking personal responsibility to manage that. If it could hurt you because of a medical condition then don't play the game.
No, they changed the way they bundled coins very early on, it is notpredatory
yeah after feedback of how bad it was
I will not stop playing just because u said so. Sure, I don't want to risk getting epilespy / seizure. But people with disablities deserves to play the game that they cares about without you telling us not to.
Which was... 2 years ago?
and when we had CMs and the team was much larger too

After the condescending blog post? They were good for a bit, but they've been right back to the old habits lately.
now we have no CMs
its your personal responsibility to take care of your health and not a random company
One.
What old habits?
I think my coffee needs something stronger in it
this is exactly why a lot of the people pushing for accessibility felt they had to leave this place
yeah but its also the companies responsibility to warn everytime you boot the game up that your game has things that can hurt them in it. but it only shows up when you make an entirely new account
Your questions have nothing to do with the point I'm making. You're claiming the outfits are not "that expensive", which does not apply to everyone. But I expect you don't understand the concept of purchasing power.
🙄
If you have diabetes should all food company take sugar out of their product because it could hurt you or make your medical condition worse or do you have the responsibility to manage that?
whoever reacted to agree with that person, just wow
They aren't. And I do.
I'm not answering them anymore
I think people need to remember that the only way for players to know about the snowball issue is either to experience it firsthand or to be in the discord. If they aren't in the discord they will not know that the issue even exists.
It's dangerous, and combating accessibility concerns with blatant ableism just isn't it. /gen
it feels like you guys are just ignoring our points entirely and arent bothering to even hear what we have to say
Nope, I've said your concerns are valid but your end result is flawed and your frustrations are misplaced.
okay, people can take responsibility great, but the concerns on accessibility needs to at least be top priority? theres little no warnings in the game that state theres flashing.
like if your here to defend the game, cool. but dont ignore what people are saying just because your mad they want to be critical of the game.
and it sure feels like our concerns arent valid with how you keep responding to us the entire time
I said the issues were valid
had to deal with it with other people before and i know the signs
If you buy a thing you can look on the box to see its sugars
Tell me where in game, or officially out of game (no the player insisted bot by a non-staff mod doesnt count) the "box" is saying "Hi the snowball effects in this game can cause seizures"
that they're pushing even harder next patch, too
sure you can say that but your actions really show if you truly mean what you say.
people can just say things but not truly mean them at all
That's certainly a valid point and one that should be addressed. What should happen is there should be warning and that's what people should be focusing on. Not taking the feature out of the game.
no ones asking for snowballs to be taken out. were just asking for them to be fixed so they dont injure someone
I’ve put thousands of hours into it and spent way more than i’d like to admit on cosmetics. and your solution is the game i’ve sunk more money into funding than most folks is… to not play it, rather than ask the dev team to get rid of something actively harmful (and also therefore turning away potential players who can get migraines, etc.) that provides literally nothing to the game?
you’re either trolling or willfully obtuse.
at this point its just blind loyalty
Sunken cost fallacy. If it is hazardous to your health. Do not play it until its fixed.
I'm not asking s6 to remove it, im asking them to not hurt us and at least fix it or warn us before they can fix it. Clearly they haven't
No one even wants snowballs to be taken out of the game, they just want the flashbang to be taken out
I'm not epileptic and I want the flashbang to be taken out because even if it won't send me to the hospital it's uncomfortable
they wont know unless they play the game, some players might not even know theres snowballs in the game
they are literally here talking to me about it, why wouldnt they know?
and that! is why we have to be so vocal about it!! because they won't fix it UNLESS we're vocal in our complaints. And since they fired all the CMs, we have to be EXTRA loud!
even being loud they arent listening. management needs to go
You know they aren't going to fix it anyway. If they were they would have done it already.
So, when we are loud about it, please don't ever invalid our feelings and or tell us to play something else. It's not the point we are trying to make.
not everyone thats arguing with you right now has discord, so people outside of discord or any social media might not know the snowballs will cause health issues
Being loud about a bunch of random things and one or two of them actually being bad and the others just frustrating or annoying isn't how to get things fixed.
im only talking in discord about this, so yes the only people im talking to are in discord
i blocked them. they wanna keep acting like that then they can. they can keep making themselves look like this
I've never seen anyone suggest taking the snowballs out completely? But if they're not prepared to actually fix them, they should do their do diligence and take them out until they ensure they aren't a safety risk - or at least add a toggle to ensure players that don't want to be blinded or have a seizure induced can be safe.
Disabled players have asked for very basic things and gotten little. If they don't care about those issues, fine, but it's incredibly important that something as big a safety risk as this should be addressed. /gen
This is literally what a beta is fooooor, oh my god
I admire all the people who try to be loud about it who have the patience to deal with ableism x.x
Alright. So, this is a discussion channel.
Can I get a tl;dr of what point you're trying to make here?
Correct and we're still in a beta
I am disabled lmao
im so tired of people invalidating us so much or ignoring points every time and just talk, ignoring everything everyone else is saying and say something entirely different...
This is the time to be vocal about getting things fixed.
Beta's the MOST important time for criticism.
You can be disabled and ableist, just to be clear. /gen
yeah being disabled doesnt really give anyone a pass to... yknow, be a jerk lol
I wonder if you'll all still make the same excuses when the game is out of beta. Ironically, all it seems is that you don't want it to be out of beta.
Also many of these accessibility concerns have been issues since alpha. These are not new things, nor are they things people are just discovering. People have been giving these concerns to feedback for over a year at this point. /gen
u can get the exact amount of coins for the majority of items in the premium store in palia tbf
only items excluded are the soothsayer rework, ghostbride
witch palcats, masks, emote, sale items
guess we will find out soon enough if they stick with their plans for next year
I do not care if you're disabled as well. It's does not excuse your behavior toward us and quite frankly, you are also putting us in bad spotlight when we try to be loud about things WE CARES about.
and if you say something entirely different to all of this then it just, proves your just talking to talk honestly. im sorry if im sounding rude but man... dont come in here and ignore others points if your trying to discuss things as well
almost a third of the whole population in the US is disabled (if we're using the broadest term, which is the best imo) if all of us were perfectly not-ableist the, world would be much better lol
I highly doubt it honestly
Yeah that's why I said they were good about it for awhile, but some of the recent stuff has been getting off that track again.
i’m not, therefore i am frustrated that we’ve heard nothing about them fixing it and appear to be doubling down on it in the next patch.
we’ll see if they choose loss of revenue and users/potential new users over fixing a single, actively harmful, adds nothing to the game flashbang
ive been thinking and this is something relating to the game. kilima village is VERY not disabled friendly... there arent any ramps, some of the bridges look unstable and there is pretty much just stairs all around
This to me would be a red flag to NOT support their game then. I've stopped giving S6 money due to some of these issues. It's obvious they either don't care or aren't willing to change things or add accessibility.
You can be as vocal as you want. it still doesn't make the game a cash grab or predatory
like everytime i go into the village i just realize how awful it'd be for a wheelchair user to try and get around
im sure it will be in the next patch pal
Which is a surprise considering they have 2 disabled characters
I would argue the point that if we are still in beta, as people who keep parroting that are still so fond of pointing out, why would you not fix the game and make it playable for everyone before releasing it to other platforms. Make sure that the platforms you have it on already are good first before you branch out. Especially if you're a team with limited time and resources. I maintain my stance that it makes no sense to release to other platforms while still in beta other than to get money from other sources from the game. It's an Ouroboros thing at this point.
so u going to ignore naz's question
yeah. and eshe and kenli walk around with a cane. i bet its so hard for themr to walk down stairs
further proves that auntie had no point, just talking to talk
We have given you specific reason after specific reason for why and how we've arrived at our consensus, and your counter continues to be "no it isn't." 🤷♂️
All they're hung up about is people calling the game a cash grab. That's it. No point nor argument.
If you buy the entire harness your power set you will be left over with one singular coin
It's just definitionally wrong.
wdym by that
like, thinking about making a disabled character and seeing how the village is... how are they gonna end up getting around? will they never be able to leave their home?
Like bahari bay is very steep cliffs but it seems more accessible then the village now. at least the dirt roads maybe?
Then please, define it.
I did earlier, do you need me to find the post for you?

If you wouldn't mind.
Is this the one you're referring to?
Oh that was me, I called it that. That's just what it looks like to me from what I've seen so far
To which this was my response?
These few posts.
Okay so guys
I agree honestly. At the very least, these past few months it's definitely felt like that with the lack of content, bug fixes and just increasingly expensive outfits and FOMO pet.
since this isn't going anywhere, we might as well move on since we just talking nowhere with them.
Predatory is often in mobile games where they offer back to back to back sales and instil FOMO on the playerbase to push them to buy small packs many times. Predatory = preying on a fear or a need. s6 is not preying on anything. You can buy exactly the amount of coins you need for an outfit.
Word. Couldn't have said it better myself.
with how a mod kept getting ignored then yeah
They do have FOMO though. They have limited pets and things like the twitch drops, which, at least with the first ones included items that have never been seen again.
#💬│palia-discussions message
And that's just one example
Oh, that reminds me, who are the mods in here?
twitch is free though...
Mods are Mod Cats :P
yeah
Asks a question.
Gets ignored.

Oh tell me how to get the purple glasses then?
Oh right I can't anymore!
Oh so mods will have pawprints?
i did notice the 999 palcat with hat but though it is annoying, its not predatory
think its time for them to get muted since they did just ignore you. twice. xD
i got them for free...?
yes but if u have a problem with member unless its the emergency, best chance to take it to modmail
Dude I want to personally apologize, I did not mean to shake the pop can like this lmao
ig my stance on accessibility is that s6 didn't make the effort to make it accessible from the ground up-- through ignorant staff, management, or whatever, not sure-- and so it's going to be a lot harder to make it accessible now. froggies said this (
love u) a while back (before, imo, it was too late) and it's just 😅 come to fruition. imho
FOMO is not exclusively for paid things. If you weren't a player during said twitch drops, you missed out. If you for example did not have internet for those few days, you missed out.
Good for you.
These were limited and anyone who wasn't playing back then can't get them now
But anyway. It's clear that not everyone is aware of the current issues (some of which have been a thing since quite a while), so let's not get baited into arguments that lead nowhere.
To be clear, I don't mean to not discuss the issues, but more like... avoid pointless arguments if possible.
but it is not a paid FOMO which I was referring to - there is no paid FOMO and pushing you to buy packs
There is. There is limited time pets.
Still FOMO nonetheless
yeah. we were trying to not do that but this person obviously just keeps focusing on one single topic and ignored everything else
ehhh there have been sales and limited time shop things. which they explicitly they wouldn't do
case in point, theyre doing it right now. in front of your eyes.
Where?
I mean hey there's no loot boxes, I'll agree with you there that's nice.
Though we do have a ton of RNG in the game itself that's annoying enough.
I don't see sales as a bad thing, but limited time stuff is a crappy practice, I agree
This. They've made the foundation so inaccessible, and have done nothing to update it, that with every update they make even more work for themselves.
RNG is very good for a healthy game that keeps people playing
It's my fault, I apologize. I used potentially inflammatory language and caused a fracas
the umbral wool pet i believe?
The problem, as I see it now, is that they keep getting pinged from multiple users, seemingly having to respond back. It's not ideal, but understandable.
It's hard to move on from a conversations if some keep it alive.
If you have to rely on RNG to ensure your playerbase stays alive...probably need to do a bit of thinking on why they wouldn't be otherwise
Don't worry tbh, it's always inevitable here
true. but if a mod showed up my attention would instantly switch to that mod. i know how important it is when one ends up showing up
Oh in the patch notes it says it will be available in the future
still fomo though
Its how Dungeons & Dragons works
🤷🏼♀️
i think a topic switched quick when a mod ends up showing up imo
Respect to the paws 🐾
Entirely different game genre. RNG is a staple of MMOs and RPGs. However, it's antithetical to Palia which markets itself as a casual cozy game.
well while this keeps going im gonna go get my laundry in order. brb
"but may be available again in the future."
may be doesn't sound like will be
You do realize that all games with FOMO say that?
"So there are two types of mail boxes. The ones you're referring to are the ones that sit at the edge of the road for the mailman to retrieve easily.
Yes you raise the flag on the side if you have mail to send out. The mailbox opens towards the road(although there are some that open on both ends for lazy people who can't be bothered to walk another foot or so)
The second type is one that is attached to the front of the house (typically next to the door, or a support pillar on the porch). Some have little hooks on the bottom that you can put mail that needs sent out, others have a similar flag to the first type." - message from my hubby when i asked him about how mailbox works xD
but my favorite is:
(although there are some that open on both ends for lazy people who can't be bothered to walk another foot or so)
No, they don't
I'm loving mailbox lore /lh
Games will always be like "maaaaaaybe we'll bring it back!" to cover their butts when it comes to criticism
it doesn't mean they will be
Yes. Nikki is doing the same
The whole FOMO bit is the "will it, won't it"
like I'm still bleeped off at FFXIV for pulling that bleep with the PVP series rewards with using that language and like 7 or 8 series later still nothing lmao
and that's my favorite game ever and I'll still call em out on that
"always" is not the case honestly, most do, yeah
but its not always and not all games
recent example is riot with their cosmetic gacha in league, which they exclusively state as: will never come back in the future
WE can talk about it without anyone telling us what we should do with our games that we passion about.
i feel like this genuinely comes down to a misunderstanding of what fomo means? like fomo is pretty broad, it's not even a marketing tactic it's also just a common phenomenon.
if my friends hang out and i have to work i would experience fomo from not being able to hang out w them. even if i hung out with them before, and even if i hang out with them next week.
when we say fomo marketing we just mean it preys on that feeling? idk
Now that's just nasty
the "maaaybe we'll do it, maybe we won't" attitude doesn't somehow fix the fomo
And so many people bought the fomo owl too. ☹️
Are you talking about the Umbra Wol? Yeah I bought that and then my game file got corrupted so I had to make a new player. 😐
😳New fear unlocked
They don't even make backups?
Did you do something or did it happen on its own
And not to mention how predatory it is now, having the gacha system always pop up when you open your crafting tab and displaying an incorrect amount of guaranteed pulls when you load it.
bcs ppl love to gatekeep items
have seen conversations from ppl asking if its limited or if they bring it back in the future
they were only willing to buy it if it was limited, guess to feel "special" no clue
I went to log in a week ago and poof, save file could not be found.
I know in the past there were issues with backups (I can't remember which of the ten morbillion problems it was but support was like "well we can't fix it or roll you back so make a new character and we'll give you some zeki coins as a we're sorry")
I bought it because it was glowy and purple and I wanted to have an Elderwood themed companion when I go there lol
Palia doesn't do backups :/ A player had an issue a while ago where their account got completely reset (without their notice) and they got zeki coins in return
Did you reach out to support or just straight up made a new account?
When I experience FOMO + predatory there is an entirely different atmosphere than what has been shown by s6 - which is why I respect them and give them my time, effort and talent because I believe in the project & I do want it to continue growing. I feel its irresponsible and just sorta malicious to take it out on a company like s6 who is offering a very fun and comfy experience for free. I've paid hundreds of dollars into the game and I would continue even if I didn't play more than 15 minutes a day. Its a lovely game and it just is unfair to put so many evil coded words on the company.
Well I'd definitely be sending in a support ticket, especially if I spent money rather than just create a new account. They need to know about this and you need the item you spent money on.
Yes and no.
I'm a pretty "hardcore gamer" so I enjoy sinking time into finding rare items and such, as that serotonin release is basically why I play games.
But when RNG starts to become part of your core gameplay loop, that's a problem that signifies that there's not enough pure content to keep players occupied.
I'm waiting on a response from support, yeah.
What parts outside of like the amount of materials you get is RNG?
Wanted to keep playing in the mean time. It's no biggie
I mean I've played BDO - Palia is nowhere near the amount of RNG that that game has.
does this person know about the fishing rng...?
Considering the game has basically become Plushia over the last year.....
The plushies have become a core part of the game at this point.
EVIL CODED?! I'm sorry, bye 😭
Fishing rng, bug rng, crafting recipe rng tied to fishing, plushie rng...
You get them from the daily coins, yea?
So do you want a failsafe system like a gatcha or something ?
Anyway, yeah I'm waiting for support to message me back, they said they're working on it
The amount of words i wanted to said but out of respect for this server 😭
hope your account doesnt get reset
And hunting. And bug catching. And fishing. And Maji Market. And there's limited ones you can't get anymore outside of trading.
finger cross that it will get fix soon <3
Do you want them to just give them to you? Whats the answer for it?
So, there's the potato pods... The fishing plushies... The huntable plushies... The bug plushies... The Zeki Coins... Hotpot...
If it does I have this other one going anyway, I got a regular owl and her name is Lingo and she is just as good
I have no issue with the RNG, just stated that Zeki coins are not the sole source of plushies.
cool. im thinking of making a new account and starting over sometime
Pity mechanics, specifically. There is no reason why someone who has been playing since day one of closed beta, and has spent months fishing for a specific thing (like the sushi recipe for instance) should not have it.
The way Palia does RNG means that you could spend a year trying to get one specific thing
A lot of games with rng for high ticket (popularity-wise) items at least have some sorta pity system
FFXIV's mount totems, for example
I think you misunderstand. Their inclusion in the game isn't a problem, but it should be a side objective... Instead, due to the lack of content added, the plushies ARE the content.
And if they don't they have trading to assit with bad RNG
Honestly I'm not too mad about anyway because I made Hassian my Shepp on accident when I wanted Delaila so 🤷
ripp
That is fair and valid
There's so many people who have chosen shepps by accident because of flying through dialogue, which is natural after you've seen it so many times
Oof that's rough.
Just a small tip, rather than grinding in multiple small sessions, try one long session. This usually helps because of how computer RNG generally works
But they are a more recent inclusion, they weren't in the game a year ago, yes? And its... still in beta? yes?
That is exactly what happened, I'm ashamed to admit
smth like animal crossing pocket camp's stamp system for their "fortune cookie" thing would be helpful.
you get stamps from pulls (1 stamp = 1 pull) and then once you get enough full stamp cards (1 card = 10 stamps) you can pick out an item, and they need varying amts of stamp cards
I'm hoping the woods update adds something above and beyond just a new map to do the same hunting/mining/picking game play but on new assets. I'm not sure that will be enough to entice me...
The dev blog where Elderwoods was initially mentioned states there's gonna be some huge lore
i think pulls for skill coins would be good too
Happened to me too LOL. I made Reth my shepp which granted he's my fav but I was already dating him, I wanted to have a shepp someone different, Ashura specifically but while flying through dialogue I'd already seen a billion times before.... yeahhhh
i hope if there are new tools then they actually can one shot the copper and iron nodes. i just wanna farm without needing to click a thousand times
you can hold down the click button
Does that mean quests? Because those are great but a few hours of game play at best or locked behind rng bundles at worse
I wish they'd have a system where you could still swap your shepp before the ceremony but alas
They're recent inclusions over the last few months yes, but they're the majority of the content that's been added.
As for the game being in beta... That's another can of worms. Technically they say it's in beta but I have never seen a beta game with a fully-functional cash shop, regular monthly updates, released on multiple platforms, with no roadmap for what the team is working on so... To me, beta is just an excuse.
That's not exactly what I would consider new meaningful content 😅
i wish the shepp thing did anything
it still bugs me they have no roadmap 😅
Most live games are in beta in this way these days - particularly with small companies.
I still haven't picked one I assumed it would eventually do something and I would pick based on that lol
s6's with this info:
I don't know of many other beta games that get monthly cash shop updates, I'm interested to know which ones you're thinking of?
Awh, I feel like Reth would really appreciate someone having that level of trust in him, and head-canonically I feel like the only person who really gets to know him well enough to understand why he's made the choices he's made and could place that kind of faith in him is the player. Everyone else but his sister and Ashura just made judgements on his character.
Though I could see it being a weird dynamic
i also made reth my shepp, i love him, and cant get enough of him lol
honestly in my fic im gonna do a lot of fix-it things
Yeah, it's truly marvelous how the gaming industry went from hiring and paying QA testers to getting players to pay THEM to test their game for them. 😛
Oh, absolutely! It did make me happy how he reacted and everything, I just like on a meta level wanted two different people as who I was dating and who I had as a shepp
yeahhhh fr
Throne & Liberty had a fully functioning cash shop in its open and closed betas
Like obviously I can't judge too much, I've played and been content with plenty of early access games.
Capitalism 😮💨
I work in QA, so I understand the process - it would likely do them a lot of good to have an external QA team
But it is sweet and I feel like him realizing someone does have that kinda trust and does see him as actually part of the community enough for that trust is super cute
i dont like a lot of palia's story in some places (mostly all the dead wives)
But it's not in beta anymore right? When I played it there was 5 things in the cash shop lol
Reth makes me giggle and kick my feet.
correct, and it has amazon publishing it - s6 does not
it also had a battlepass in beta...
When he opened his mouth and I heard Robbie Daymond's voice I knew it was over for me LMAO
S6 has Daybreak behind them
i think mostly that practice is kinda yucky tho
yeah after s6 got bought out
I wouldn't really say it's an industry norm idk kinda feels like a strange stand out to my
Yesssss, like "talking to me will give you a bad rep" PLEASE, I HAVE NO DIGNITY
i don't fully agree - mostly cause i spent a lot on this game as soon as i could when Tish was just a TPose zooming around town
Also "other game do bad thing too" doesn't mean bad thing should be normalized
that's how we got to where we are when it comes to mtx in games
I don't think its bad, particuarly since its a free game
what is ur point with free game...
its different to have perks when u donate imo.
i just feel like a cash shop implies that you'll always have the item and it's stable and everything, which hasn't been true
have items been taken away after buying them?

yes, "premium" items have disappeared for extended periods of time or been disabled due to game-breaking gitches.
man this is going in circles
let just stop responding.
Ahem tool skins
Ahem ravenwood glider
(both of which I own)
Frankly for the amount of content Palia has for "free", its massive and expensive cash shop is ridiculous in proportion but
I don't think it's just the fact that they have a cash shop.
I have played other early access games with cash shops.
It's the combination of cash shop + multi-platform release + regular updates + no development roadmap that screams "this isn't a beta" to me.
i think other people can answer this more effectively than me, but yes, the items have been glitchy/locked ppl out of their accounts/etc
i believe even in closed beta there were different outfits that got taken away when it opened up? but not entirely sure
i mean im enjoying the show
s6 just don't want to admit that they not actually in beta but rather they done with this game.
I'm still annoyed that they refused to take the broken items out of the shop when they were still broken
that the vibe i got.
I see, but you still get to own them? They aren't removed from your account? DBD has this issue too where characters get disabled for awhile due to bugs
Also the sparkly glider is still missing a texture if you play on low settings
What is the point in owning something if you can't use it, and you aren't compensated for the time you cannot use the item? Especially when the issue with the item could have easily been caught if S6 conducted any preliminary testing whatsoever
that's honestly disappoiting but not even surprising
They were still actively selling items for a while that they knew were broken and had no specific timeline on having fixed
also honestly it was ridiculous it wasn't caught to begin with but hey
i heard someone had a rly bad experience where they got locked out of their account due to the bug and support offered them a new account w a bunch of zeki coins loaded onto it 😅 no refund, the outfits gone, nothing
no they reset the account entirely and gave 50 zeki coins as compensation. none of their purchased outfits back or anything
I know I should but the discussions regular still in me can't stop yapping kjasdas
well i dont think there should be any amount of compensation - particularly if its a gamewide bug and the cosmetic has no effect on gameplay - personally.
Is #💬│palia-general invading or something? (Light hearted/ rhetorical question, just surprised to see so much heated debate in this channel)
that person ended up quitting im pretty sure cause of that mess
you love drama :P /j
but same with yapping for me
This is pretty lame, I agree
It's always like this in here
cuz this game is trash but I'm still addicted to it
it wasnt a game wide thing btw. the person was stck on their own plot for months.
I can't deny I get
at times and I always poke my head in when I get pinged about new patch drops but
truly I do love to yap
What have I come back to........
War, war never changes
discussion
tea! sit down and enjoy with me!
I love this game because no other similar game has such deep integration of social features
im just a big simp for all the characters and like to draw them
You are correct. They spent like $60+ on the game. They got stuck in the lunar new year market and the devs couldn't figure out how to fix it. They don't do account back-ups so that person's account got ethered. No, they didn't get their money or cosmetics back. Just some Zeki coins.
I think if a player pays for something and it does not function properly, it breaks their game, or it is disabled entirely, there's something wrong with that picture. I understand that you enjoy the game. I do too. But I also expect the devs to properly test premium/paid content before release, offer transparent communication efforts, and implement proper resolutions when things go terribly wrong. Free game, beta game, paid triple A game, whatever it may be, all players can and should expect those basic things.
shoulda gave them the pal coins equivalent to get their stuff back or new things if they wanted to, zeki coins for chance to get their plushies if they didn’t wanna just give the items
It is just not how games work and I can understand the frustration. llike i said - it happens in games i play a lot. League, DBD, WoW, Hunt- items, characters, maps get disabled if there is a bug. Would you prefer the bug to persist or allow them the time to fix it?
Good thing about Steam is that if stuff like this happens, you can contact Valve for a refund
no one's shaming u for liking the game. i mean i like animal crossing but i can still criticize nintendo up and down. we're not making judgements on u, just the company
I honestly felt so bad for them. I think one of the CMs at the time tried to help, but it had already been decided I guess. It was too late for them to even do a charge back on their card or anything.
I do not think this game is perfect, I have to relog a few times a day
Frankly I'd prefer they take the broken item out of the shop temporarily instead of still selling it but hey
Offtopic, but the latest AC isn't even good lmao
The old ones is where it's at
Wild bug to begin with honestly, one of those "I can't believe they didn't catch it in QA" or "I can't believe something got so wonky that maybe they did and it still got pushed live anyway" but that's been....a lot of stuff
I just think its harmful overall to add so much negativity into things that could simply be construtive critizism. I do 1-2 playtests for various games every week. I have to verbally criticize games as a profession. I understand how good criticism can help games - but I also know how muddied criticism can harm them.
New Leaf is still the best one imo. New one is fun but feels like it's just a decorating sim tbh.
As I said before, I expect them to communicate effectively and implement a proper resolution (ideally as quickly as possible if it involves a paid item). I've played lots of other games in which stuff breaks, they tell the players they're aware of it right away, they tell them when to expect a fix, and then when their patch notes say the issue is resolved, it's actually resolved.
Exactly. This is why I went to Palia
That is fair and valid - from what I know of s6 - they have always sort of struggled in that way, no?
S6 has always been pretty awful with transparency, and now that they got rid of all the CMs, even more so
CM is community manager?
Yup
Wasn't it due to ones that were weirdly power hungry?
Back when they had CMs they were a lot more transparent about their errors. They weren't perfect by any means, but if there was in incorrect statement in the patch notes, they would cross out the text and write a correction.
No, it was due to S6 laying off 30%+ of their staff
The first two CMs were great and left on their own terms I believe, the last two were part of one of the huge layoffs
So they don't correct patch notes now?
If they do, they quietly erase things and pretend they never happened. Which is the opposite of transparency
Often they're not comprehensive, can be scrubbed, or aren't accurate.
Yup like how they quietly scrubbed the feature where you could turn off effects on your own outfit and pretended it never happened, because it didn't work
maybe with a CM we could have gotten some information on what had happened but who knows....
The best way I can describe my concerns about this game is that I have seen more regression than progression as of late. I've been playing since August of last year, and today the game is less playable than it was for me then. Beta isn't beta-ing properly if the game is becoming less functional over time.
We still haven't heard a single peep from S6 why they tried to erase it even existing in patch notes and not being like "Okay but it's broken"
also on a much lesser note remember the snail gaslighting that still makes me laugh so hard
Do you play on steam?
No I use the old launcher
I can completely agree on this. It's specially worse for switch players.
It's gotten indescribably awful on Switch. My A-button
What issues are you experiencing that is making it less playable? I've run into issues with having my bow out while running or earlier today I just couldnt even load into town without restarting. But they didn't heed my progress.
For the record, I play on a laptop, but even friends with actual gaming PCs agree the game isn't well optimised.
Just remember, just because something isn't a problem for you specifically doesn't mean it isn't for others.
I play on a gaming laptop and ive personally never run into actual performance issues on Ultra - and i don't doubt there are issues for other people
do u mean nh or pc? i like all of it tbh but yeah new leaf > new horizons all the way (also mods might yell at us oops)
Due to varying VFX settings among players, snowballs can cause a flashbang effect, so please refrain from throwing snowballs at known or unknown players without their consent. It may trigger seizures, migraines, or nausea in photosensitive individuals when hit due to the flashbang effect.
i really want the paid pocket camp
Even my experience from pre-alpha to now is... Surprisingly less different than I'd expect.
There have certainly been improvements, but we had literally the same playable maps back then as we do now, just different versions.
honestly pc did a great job migrating from their microtransaction system to the complete version, i get it's not everyone's cup of tea but it's been really rewarding with how they turned leaf tickets into tokens you earn through playing
i believe it was vega, but one of the devs was in here once and someone was saying like, "this just isn't very accessible idk i'm sorry i don't have much constructive criticism" (idr the specific context)
and vega was like. "constructive criticism can be as simple as 'i hate this, actually' and 'this is a pain point for me,' it doesn't have to be long and well thought out to be valuable feedback."
so when someone says something like "too much criticism can hurt games" i think of them saying that.
is the new content supposed to be a new map?
I suppose that is a difference in community QA and paid QA
This is meant to be a social game, but parties are beyond broken. Players are constantly getting stranded on their home plot or when trying to get back to their home plot because the servers simply say "no" for several minutes straight. And before you tell me that server issues are common in all games - no, not this often, and it's only gotten worse. Maji Market returning was an absolute disaster even though I recall it being a fun event in its initial form. They had fixed the issues with chapaa chase last year, but those issues reappeared this year and have not been resolved. Wall decor items suddenly can't be placed on the wall anymore. Environments randomly fail to load, causing players to fall through cliffs, the ground, unable to interact with anything, etc. I could continue, but I'd really rather be done.

That is fair and valid
it's so good!! (i got automodded bc i screamed ab how good it was.) i feel like 10 bucks (what i paid bc i preordered it) was perfect but i think 20 dollars is also worth, just a lil less worth? idk.
@marsh depot i think it's literally the only way any mobile game should cut off service. and i hope it reminds nintendo i'm a macrotransaction girl, i hate microtransactions
the only thing is whistle pass feels deeeaaad but yk cant be perfect
i wish whistle pass was just a seperate campsite u could decorate but for humans
what do you mean? sry im not getting it
Maybe not every single update no but I would have expected a few maps at this point instead of just... Two.
I've just been trained to avoid that sort of criticism as I've been told its unhelpful to devs. But again, I QA for games as a profession - so I suppose its different level of response
i'm even happier it was actually cheaper for me due to regional pricing, but it is really worth it at 10 bucks
and agreed on whistle pass, i enjoy the concept but it does feel a bit last minute, still really appreciate how it was handled and been enjoying the game more than ever
They spent too much time and resources on refining what they had over and over again instead of working on new stuff.
I would much rather have had more content and be refining it right now in a beta rather than spending literal years redoing Kilima and Bahari four or five times each.
I agree would be nice to have more - but I wouldn't really discount the added areas. Like the underground for example. It was not that nice when I logged in last year. It was just a hallway with stuff for sale.
same i got all of the fortune cookies i completed the full like. christmas stuff. i also love having a buddy omggggg im having sm fun.
as someone who didn't spend a dime on that game, it felt like that marshmallow experiment with the kids. the delayed gratification was v gratifyingggg
ahhh yeahhh i think that is v different.
I love games and it's always my goal to help them improve overall - so my focus is usually on longer term and community interactions. I do not think this game is perfect but it does do a lot of perfect things. When they add marriage and babies I will never play anything else... until then... my time
@pulsar meteor 👋
y'all
yes, welcome to discussion?? or is it. 😭
i mean it was the usual roundabout so i didn't need to backread (but did anyways)
Is this the only bugreport channel?
no it's the only discussions channel
!support there aren't bug report channels, has to be done on their site
Here's a link to the Player Support: http://support.palia.com/
Ooh hoo, should probably be one on the disc but fair enough
There used to be, but the CMs who compiled it were laid off.
no cm no devs they have a website for that
Mods here are volunteers?
Yep

yeah, there's not enough folks on the team to parse the conversations of 360k people to glean the reports - stuff like quest-help or tech-help serve as kind of a filter to help people either do workarounds, figure out if it's user error, or funnel it into the correct kind of ticket on their zendesk
Yeah, curious about their QA. I'd honestly apply if I was in one of the approved states
Evan I was trying to remember earlier... Was the original pre-alpha group 500 people?
But yeah back when it was a handful of us it was much easier for the CMs to keep up on the feedback
so there was the first 200 and then another 1300, then i think another 3k in the second one
Like - for example - Once Human. Similar scope to Palia. Has a bug channel and bots in the server to do a bit of the heavy lifting. I feel website is a bit harder to get information quickly.
Thank you, was bothering me that I couldn't remember. I originally thought 100 but was like... That's way too low
I joined right before they opened up beta, and when they did open it I'm pretty sure the server jumped from like 150k to 300k pretty much overnight iirc 😅
yeah they had that initial wave of hand-picked they brought in to focus on and then teach it forward to the next wave which was.. two? weeks after iirc
My memory isn't what it used to be
i still think about that spiral staircase jump challenge in old bahari...
spiral staircase?
miss tpose zoomin tish tbh
it was just how the random rock mountains were placed, i don't even know it was intentional, it just begged for you to get as high as you can and jump/glide from stone to stone
I just think of resource mountain
can you still walk through the stables building?
haven't tried so i couldn't say
and to be clear i think the game is way prettier and smoother than it used to be, but jank sometimes has a charm all its own
Yeah I wholeheartedly agree
Oh for sure like I said there's definitely been improvements and things I like. The addition of voice acted lines helped so much with the NPCs.
except when i lose a kill because i was sprinting with my bow out and i cant shoot anymore
or have to chop the stupid tree and you try too fast to switch to the bow so you re-swing the axe instead of drawing and then they're over the horizon by the time you're ready

I do wish there was a like... a system in place that doesn't let me mash space too fast at the end of a convo.
i just wanna see the pekis... at this point, they seem more mythical than the phoenix that has literally talked to us
I'm super eager to see what else they come out with.
You're not wrong. I just live In an area with primarily mailboxes near the road. I just thought it was a funny thing he pointed out.
pff yee
i really need another side quest, how would i go about finding one?
Quests are tasks requested by villagers for the player to complete. They are either short objectives, or a set of goals that must be performed.
Quests can be completed at any time, and have no time limit, however, some require specific quests be completed before the Player can progress.
The Player may...

No need to apologize, and sorry for late response. Just woke up! idk if someone responded already but,
I'm not sure how much they were promoted last year? But I do know they also had the flash and flashbang similar to this year.
they've had the flash effect since they were first added last year, it's what initially caused me to quit because it was the first thing that actually caused me to fear having a seizure
i believe it was a daily login reward of x10 snowballs (since they weren't in the register) but i could be wrong
daily? i had a billion in my mail
Yeah, I remember you talking about this [and also showing footage of it]. I just dont recall how much it was advertised!
Since this year, they literally are promoting it via the trailer 🙃
i think my mailbox/news still has like 30 or 40?
yeah it was a daily login reward to the mailbox, you're remembering right! I don't remember the quantity though, I know some of them were stacks of 100 based on what I still have sitting there
Thank chu and I like being polite sometimes since timezones
i don't think they used to stack to 100 which is why i was happy to dump them in my storage XD
No need to ever apologize! Just giving reassurance. I genuinely don't mind! As long as you understand my sleep schedule is wonky and I might not respond right away
[It's almost 4pm here for context, and i just woke up...]
I really don't remember it being so bad last year but it could have been case by case. Even at cake parties I had a couple pals that would playfully have snowball fights and as a fairly photosensitive person myself, I feel like I would have recalled that really bad flashing and the rapid fire loud sounds as well
snowballs were in one of the update trailers but I dont remember if the trailer had the flash in it
(I'll go find it)
it does not have the flash in the original trailer
https://youtu.be/Rx7yqyte7dA?t=23
Hiya Ori, was sad you missed the discussion earlier lol. Your input would have been valuable!
Hope you slept well though!
Me and my cursed sleep schedules!
also some people know this already but I have reported it to bug reports again this year
waiting to see if they actually fix it or not even though they ignored me and others last year
And I did, thank you! Now I'm just trying to wake up.
Hope youre doing well today!
And again, thank you for showing/providing the old footage of it and stuff, too! I appreciate you
I'm on the struggle bus a bit today lol worked 7:30 am to 1:30 am yesterday and then 10:30 to 7:30 today. Almost there though!
Oh man! You got this
if i have bluberries learnt can i buy some somwhere?
Due to varying VFX settings among players, snowballs can cause a flashbang effect, so please refrain from throwing snowballs at known or unknown players without their consent. It may trigger seizures, migraines, or nausea in photosensitive individuals when hit due to the flashbang effect.
you can buy seeds iiirc from badruu for guild coins, but can also request from players :)
ty!
oh I'm sorry I missed this one, it's possible it's case by case but it was as bad last year as it is this year, I linked to videos of it from last year the other day that show it. I unfortunately had the flash so it's now 2 winters in a row that I can't play the game at all because of these stupid things
here's two videos from last year:
https://youtu.be/YtRB-57f6kw?t=2844
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/oCkBZUTKpEg
I want to be able to snowball fight too
it just needs the flash removed, the rest of the animation (like when you hit a tree) looks great imo
It’s wild to me that they haven’t resolved it. I know lots of things are broken atm but this is literally dangerous AND should honestly be very easy to fix.
I played an early access game last year that had a lightning feature that was way too bright and flashy, players submitted their feedback, and they fixed it within a week. They toned down the flashing and added a toggle to turn it off altogether. There’s just no excuse 😩
I also hate when people bring up that it isn't the company's fault, or that the person with epilepsy should just know and avoid it...
There should always be alternatives and options. And that aside... Uh,
Palia does not warn you about this. They bring up a warning when you make your account, however, after that, it doesnt pop up again.
There has been more and more flashes added to the game. I know for me, when I made my account last year during closed beta, there was little to no flashes at all. But gradually overtime, they added some. Outfits, the red strobing via tilling your farm plots, the random sparkle/flash now when you hit a tree/rock [idk if this is new, but it's at least more noticeable now]. Etc...
It should, 100%, be a warning every time you load up and launch the game. At the very least.
yeah i just don't want to hear minions trying to throw it back at my face like that
And again: There should always be alternatives and options to turn off these effects.
Always always. Everyoen deserves to play games, esp ones that are cosy and to help you relax. Especially for a game that has time and time again tried to claim they are inclusive to all.
I think the sticking point for things like this is the fact that Palia was marketed as an inclusive game.
and yet most decide to ignore that, even if theyre disabled. i get it, you love the game and want it to succeed but putting down others actual experiences helps no one
more like excluded

ChatGPT is that you?
sir this is a wendy's
im gonna be real chief: this is weird. the relationships arent even fully fleshed out so whats in game now could evolve past whats there rn
like, i half get it but its also not this serious at all. why are you so against flirting of all things?
I really don't think Palia of all games is deep enough to be influencing someone's behavior and core ideals to the extent you're trying to say
no game is. if someone does let it do that then they have problems, not the game :x
but honestly, its really not this deep. if the romance aspect disturbs you like this so much you can opt out of it. i doubt most of the people playing this game are even paying as much attention as you are to this...
I mean.... it sounded like chatGPT wrote it so...
Either way, you're entitled to your feelings. I personally think the whole but what about the children angle is a bit extreme. If someone is not mature enough to parse the real world from the game world then they simply should not be playing video games. Thankfully, most kids today are smarter than they're given credit for.
if you want to help flesh out the romance then you can try to reach out to s6 or something, but us as players really... cant do anything with how the game is going unless we work directly with s6
My concern isn't about the current state of the game, but more about the potential direction it could take, especially as it develops. I’m not against flirting in general, but it's about the context in which it's being introduced particularly in a game that's PG-13 and likely to be played by younger audience
And romancing multiple characters is kind of a staple of the genre...? Some games have you need to ultimately lock down, some don't, but.
ultimately with that whole detailed speech you're getting to stuff a person should be learning in life, from their parents, etc. There's always been a lot of video-games-inspire-violence bs floating around but this is honestly the first time I've heard a video-games-inspire-unhealthy-views-on-romance
there are a lot of questionable things in game. tamala being the biggest offender imo. s6 just doesnt know what audience to stick to so we have... whats in the game rn as a result.

its like a messy collage of.... something
But ultimately I just. It really isn't that deep. It's a genre staple, and these are just pixels. If someone, even a younger person, is using Palia to determine views on relationships, how flirting will affect others, etc, I think there's an issue going on beyond gaming
if they wanted to tackle unhealthy relationships then they should of went more into eshe and kenli tbh
I'm 99% sure Eshe beats that man.
its 100% more like it with how afraid kenli is of eshe
Parents need to be aware that PG-13 implies that mature themes may still be touched upon and actively read what each PG-13 rating on a game is allowing or do a play test themselves. Never rely on just a rating to tell you if a game is appropriate for your child or not.
like eshe is too proud for a divorce? im tired of messed up stuff in cultures, i dont need it in my cozy game tyvm
The only "huh, this sure is a thing for a kid friendly game" is some of Tamala's dialogue and a bit more scattered about and how you can interpret some of the relationships going on yeah
but to claim being able to flirt with multiple characters as...... /waves hand, all of that, is a lot
tamala is not pg 13 tbh... idk why they keep pushing the age rating with her so much
And also yeah what Moose said. If your kid is at the age where you think they're that easily influenced you should be doing more research into a game past the label slapped on the box
I've seen T rated games that are barely higher than a G and other T rated games that barely avoid being an M
Due to varying VFX settings among players, snowballs can cause a flashbang effect, so please refrain from throwing snowballs at known or unknown players without their consent. It may trigger seizures, migraines, or nausea in photosensitive individuals when hit due to the flashbang effect.
And besides, children shouldn't really be playing online games unsupervised anyway, especially if again they're as impressionable as you claim
The rating system is so broad for video games. And yes, if you want to protect your child from any adult themes, buy your own Minecraft server for them and their friends and let them know you’ll be reading back the chat.
it's been a Day here hasn't it
that's for sure
Kids have access to the internet nowadays, PG13 doesn't really mean anything anymore 🤷♂️
I would be far more worried about my kids having unsupervised acesss to the real people in a social mmo then flirting with the fictional characters hehe
Also my palia boyfriend is a member of a cartel and is smuggling illegal goods to ensure he can afford to keep his sister heathly, like man flirting was the fluffy part of the story lol
I'm pretty sure nothing is stopping you from dating both siblings at the and time either 😂
Not trying to poke fun at the concern, there's nothing wrong with feelings like your children might need parental guidance through that type of content
i wish they added something that did prevent it. its so weird how you can date them at the same time
There's just a lot more to navigate then just flirting
You are 100% definitely looking too far into it, in regards to the flirting, etc. I don't really think a lot of people are getting those kind of vibes from this game.
Genuinely, I don't think anybody is playing Palia as a reference & 100% truth of how relationships are or how they should be.
You mean I cant woo a partner by brining them a specific bug or gemstone each week?
idk if theyre even online anymore rn
🍿
also, idk, friends flirt with eachother all the time [at least, the people i see]. It's usually a way to hype someone up, and make them feel good, too. Like complimenting people.
But i also feel like some 'flirting' is hard to recognize or sometimes some stuff gets viewed as flirting even if it's not.
all in all, def just looking into & reading too much into it lol

ok but listen, if someone wants to be my friend, they can bring me a specific bug or shiny object each week
I like pebbles and rocks.
Collecting shiny pebbles and rocks, and making people feel happy are my Oneness.
I caught my spouse by feeding him sooo yep that’s how it works.
were you in the safari zone too?
(this is a pokemon joke please let me be funny)
LMAO

Definitely lol
I honestly stopped reading a lot of it and only read the bullet points (that was bolded)
I just went to actually re-read and uhh, yeah

(gen chat didn't really take the bait so the fishing moved to here, is all)
Are there any visual representation of runes in the game or like the written language? i feel like there is but i cant remember atm
it's a 1:1 letter substitution cypher, somewhere they've (players) made some nice looking reference images to decipher it but i don't have one handy
Oooh I will go see if i can find one! thank you working on making NPC OC so wanted to add some lore tings
oop found one quickly #1136772638040141825 message
thank you!! this one was on reddit too

It won't do messages back to back but if it's been more than two hours anyone sending a message will trigger the bot to immediately post another reminder.
Thank you, this makes sense of it since I was genuinely curious lol

anyone wanna bet the patch will take longer then 3 hours?
Is the news message failing to load for anyone else?
8 hours is my bet.
Just for some furniture and premium items?
10 hours! Final offer.
the last 5 patches (the patches since the acquisition to be exact) were all on time tbf
except for the 12 hour "hotfix"
Never forget the slowbreak
For fun can they take the game down for a few extra hours.
we can all go out and eat or something and let the flames feed themselves it'll be great
as one of the firekeepers i vote no plskthx
im sorry but with how things usually go, the wild fire with explode once more...
But we could go out and eat and let it happen it'll be fiiiine
im napping while it happens
but who would give the devs our energy, if we don't?

(IYKYK)
Oh God that was so annoying lol
The constant sticker spam too

Is there a place to make suggestions in the discord? Like a suggestion box?
One day I'm going to tab over to this discord and not see something absolutely atrocious about accessibility. Today is not that day and I do not think it will ever be.
Nope, only way is to go through the official feedback channels. S6 doesn't have any CMs anymore to collect feedback here
Aw.
If it helps any, alongside putting it in through the official channel (if anyone knows the discord command that links to it feel free to post it cause I can't remember), we do discuss ideas here a lot so feel free to mention them here too even if just for a player talk!
I was gonna say, I wish I could get seasonal versions of my lot skin.
Like, mine is the woodland glade, but I'd love the same skin with leafless trees and snow.
I'd pay to be able to switch for seasons.
Agreed, I'd love to see simple seasonal reskins! It'd add a lot of charm. Unfortunately since S6 started charging for lot skins, as a category they're always going to be premium only D:
can always cross fingers though, maybe things will change one day. honestly I think people would be happy if nothing changed but just the appearance of trees and the ground, nothing fancier needed
for free stuff
I wouldn't mind paying, tho. I paid for the one I'm using.

Ooh, TY!
there we go. And I think there might be one or two seasonal paid skins? my eyes tend to gloss over premium content but could be worth checking the shop/patch notes
there are paid seasonal the winter one is tomorrow
the fall one was this patch? hmm summer i guess was the start of it all since beach and such
spring? maybe considered in that lump too
ah yeah no defo feedback that
i dont get why we dont have that as a option to begin with the default is nice enough

I likely won't be around when the servers go down tomorrow, so here's the (early) Patch Bingo! May all go well.
"where are patchnotes?" and "servers back up?" are almost free spaces
Yeah, I probably need to put them instead of "longer than planned," since they've actually been doing well on that front.
I'll be here after it's up instead of before/during as well so... here's hoping snowballs are finally fixed?
I thought about just putting "Snowballs still flash", but honestly it doesn't need to be sugarcoated.
I'll be here and will be doing testing when i can, too.
Lettuce will never get love
"snowballs have flash removed" would be impossible difficulty square
can't expect it after a full year
I'm pretty sure most don't even know or have it anymore
I'm sure we already know how the snowballs are going to be [unfixed], but if anybody does want to be pinged after i do the testing about whether theyre still an issue or not, feel free to let me know and ill make a mental note.
"it's a free game" should be added total free square though
mine is vibing in storage
but I couldn't care less about crops honestly
you're probably going to do this regardless of if I asked but I'll take a ping for snowball flash status
Yeah the farming aspect isn't really in palia it's like they forgot about it or something
Oh yes, I'm going to let you know either way
Yeah they nerfed it pretty hard.
Which is a shame, because it was the perfect activity for the people who spend hours decorating on their plots.
I'm glad about that tbh
if I want to play a farming game I'd start stardew valley
I wouldn't mind if it was expanded upon, or more was developed for it. But only if it was more of an option and not something that felt required. [like most skills do in palia.]
I have yet to touch stardew, personal choices it just doesn't do it for me I emulate the old harvest moon for that kick at least I get cute cows
Understandable. I use a mod to give myself cute highland cows and prettier pigs.
The stardew mods where you can change how your farm animals look make me happy sometimes
Harvest moon modded is hmm
still wish we could trade (NOT PLUSHIES) so that I could just do what I feel like doing, and trading for anything quest related
There's somet hat changes the cows to look similar to Harvest Moon cows too
Yep. Thinking back to my flea market idea 😔
They really got us with the "not just pods" line... Ngl I assumed that was a placeholder for plushies but when you could trade quest plushie I died a little... That shouldn't of been added
player run markets would be cute yeah
Right lol. Reading 'not just pods' really really made me think it was going to be more.
part of me still hopes the plushies is a placeholder/temporary and it'll be expanded upon in the future, but
I genuinely think it could be really cute? Building your own stall, being able to do your own decorations for it, too. Having NPCs randomly come by to make random comments..
Same honestly. Brighter Shores currently implemented a way to swap some christmas hats you get from skilling, and since they've already announced they'll introduce trading in the future, I'm thinking this is their way to test it. I was hopeful it would be a similar case in Palia but I'm not expecting anything anymore.
I remember playing a really trashy game... Like fly but not that
where there was a set area for people ran stalls like kilima has a great area already for it but I guess it's to over s6s head to work out
And I dont' think it could "mess up" the economy much either, if they have it to where the value is set prices. Just a bit higher than Zeki's, just so it doesnt feel like the players time is wasted.
I was hoping for at least furniture
not even all furniture, but the rng furniture, especially makeshift
even tho I knew that wouldn't happen ever since they announced the "trading" feature
there were a lot of games with player stall/market areas back around like... 2010 +/- a few years?
Gosh if we could trade rugs..... that'd be AMAZING
Yeah I'll remember the name mid shift tomorrow probably and just caps lock it in here
I'll be ready
Tbh all (not quest) still would of been great even just open trade anything... Sure they have a request system but I'd love to trade off fish for dari any day
I'm so sick of server jumping just to try to get a single rug when I need 30 for a build....
will be fun to serverhop non stop tmrrw for the curtains
this threw me back to before groves were a thing, and i wanted to make a lot of bellflower pieces for a future museum build i wanted to do. ... Yeah, I gave up on that. too much flow wood.
Eugh I can see the spam already
(would recommend to deactivate the online msg for tmrrw if u have it active)
Shame about snowballs though. I do hope it's just fluff and not actually anything game play wise
Cas let's be honest we've all seen supports replies at this point and they clearly do not understand
AND AND AND, i learned the lights i wanted were from Zeki's RNG ball machine and i just. Yep.
oooooffff. The Valley ones?
the small one lamp(?) chandelier? (idk how I should call it lmao)
I got everything muted discord wise... Like I gotta hunt hard for @ but sometimes I open to question life choices
It's the Valley Sunrise one, that has multiple balls/lights on it? It looked really ncie behind fish tanks
What if I ghost pinged u
The string of light balls
yes! I thought it looked nice behind fish tanks. And for the lower ones, the maji market plant lamp thing looked okay. But it helped light up the ones near the top
Why must you hurt me
ngl that happens alot I look for 10 secs and give up really quickly
I wish all lights gave off the same glow. Some really don't do anything.
That's why people reply to me and I magically can not see... Jk I'm just to lazy to block people and it still pings you even if you do... I just magically can't read instead
ofc this doesnt work for ghost pings, but sometimes when i get pinged in discord [like palia], i'll just go to direct messages, and there's a button where i can see where i was mentioned and who mentioned me
I'm very lazy
It helps a lot lol, or i'll use the search function of like "mentions:valkorii"
Where do you have the energy
valid and fair
it just feels like muscle memory for me at this point tbh
yes! and it's always so hard to find the one that gives the lighting youre wanting
and then in a future patch, that lighting might change
talking about valley sunrise:
someone pointed something rly interesting out a few days ago: the valley sunrise candelabra has a design that would fit more with emberborn
(oh and of course the Kilima Couch which is not the Kilima Couch but the Homestead Couch which is mistakenly in the wrong set)
or when a patch decides to randomly turn off [or on] the lights, and you have to go in and change it all again.
S6 Just shoved stuff anywhere and it shows
Oh tool tips? Naaa just put it there it looks fine no one will notice anyways
i still wish the emberborn was coloured a bit different. I get what they were going for-- make it look more worn down, old, etc in a sense? but there's some bits where it just looks like they forgot to colour specific pieces, and it always bugs me.
The artist in me is like "I want to fix and finish colouring it"
some of them look nice, but there's some pieces that im like ... where's my marker
Never look to close when you recolour things then.. The fill lines go hard
Is Palia still down or did someone forget to make an announcement?
will be interesting to see how many of the new tints will actually look good and how many will look horrendous
The message is there for tomorrow
It confused me when i loaded up palia earlier, too
I'm a fool LOL the time blurs together I thought today was the 17th
valid tbh, it happens to me a lot too
also hello, miss you
it confuses a lot of ppl every single patch tbh
maybe another background color would help, but it won't change anyways
💚 solidarity
I think it only confused me bc, at least i dont think i read a date, on the message. i only read the time, and i was like "huh?"
💚 I hope you know I still think of you everytime i see anything frog related in games
Marvel rivals has these frog statues i keep meaning to screenshot & share with you, if you haven't seen them already/yet
i also thought of you earlier when i brought up flea market idea(s) again
yeah the msg only shows the time
💚 That warms my heart so much!!
I haven't seen them yet, despite my friends playing the game - also yes please palia I'm begging on my knees let us have flea markets for trading
I think of you when I see frogs in games too
you're iconic now
They have to add something there isn't much player interaction or events... Groves and plushies? Hotpot eh I guess... But I can go days without interacting with another player heck my last alt only interacted with people to do the dumb request quest... Let us have a reason to make friends (oh the party buff? Which triggers mainly every 7th time wow such reason much wow)
I've gone to a few player ran things that had more interactions than anything gameplay wise and that scares me sometimes
I still wisht he dice rolling emote wasn't a premium, cuz that at least would of added more gameplay and player ran stuff
Can confirm I went to a players house to play a really funny 3d snakes and ladders cas I had the emote the fact they pay wall it i hate it hate it in any game.. Looking at you gw and ff... Just make it free I know work goes into it I know it's a income but you are blocking people to be creative and have basic fun
I think it would have been great to add something new when they brought out that whole party grow furniture set - with a non-party way for people to get the items should they not want to engage in multiplayer for whatever reason
i'd liek to do /roll or something taht does no emote, let the premium store have the special animation xD
Yeah even this would be a nice middle ground
Or you could have the host who has the emote roll for everyone
would be cool to have some palia-equivilent of liars dice / the card version in the inn for players to play
just so long as they remember to turn it off this time v.v
You stop

I don't even have lights up
but no
is there no basic /roll in gw or ff? I thought there was
... my memory has failed me
[but yes, i agree]
I found lights that were off 4 weeks after the patch
(I preferred lights on by default tho, its annoying turning them on everytime)
it would also just be nice that you could have multiple of the middle-stage pieces of that set...
yea i like them on too, one of them is in teh froggy bucket and if their off idk i might jsut leave em this time ><
Naa it's more the emotes being pay walled not just the roll part... I hate it as a general thing I do appreciate the time and effort that goes into it and do believe they should get paid but companies should pay them for that work... It can be fancy all the razzle dazzle jazz hands it wants but emotes are my strong freebies. Since sometimes (especially with palia) emotes become a form of communication
I agree! I mean, i dont mind some emotes being paywalled. But when it's specific ones that genuinely is more gameplay related [like the dice rolling, and not having a /roll as a middleground], it's... ridiculous tbh.
Like heck I won't name the user but someone went wild at me in dms cas I swipe but will turn around and be like oh yeah they need free options...
Like I'm sorry what? I want earnable items in a game about earning things how dare I
I do wish there was an alternative for some of the emotes in the ff shop though [even though i have admittedly bought some of them]
balance ✨
Up until they updated the payment stuff I got a few but now they are long gone~ cas I'm to mad at them for blocking my payments
(side note I think they fixed it? Or at least made it not so bad but I'm still mad imma be petty)
I see gen has acquired a new snowball misunderstanding 5am so I'm out
Due to varying VFX settings among players, snowballs can cause a flashbang effect, so please refrain from throwing snowballs at known or unknown players without their consent. It may trigger seizures, migraines, or nausea in photosensitive individuals when hit due to the flashbang effect.
My neighbor is making brownies and my brain is like GIMME

...... this was my wakeup call that ive played way too much the past few days
I ALMOST have all the furniture to that set I need the bed, the dresser and a table
Well tbh I'm a fishing addict
I'm obsessed with hunting and foraging lol

Then why is the snowball fighting being promoted with this new upgrade?
I wish I knew tbh.
@hexed cloak so it seems you do alot of fishing 🎣 you must go through alot of bait lol 😆
Maybe it’d be worth considering the ability to toggle off flashbang effects
If I could toggle off "flash effects" and never see anyone's costume affects or fireworks, I'd be so happy.
@hexed cloak wow you certainly have a a lot lol what do you use to make your bait?
Tomatoes and potatoes, mostly
@hexed cloak is that all or do you use other stuff
Yeah
I don't have regular worm farms because you can buy those from Zeki and I don't use normal worms often
You must grow a lot of potatoes and tomatoes
One third of my garden is potatoes and tomatoes so that's what I have the most of
they are actually adding free dice
Pulls out Bingo card...
Every time a patch comes around, I bite my nails wondering if the building blocks are gonna break again, because I have an entire room filled with them that I spent hours on. And considering I don't like decorating, if it implodes, I'll definitely crash out.
Patch notes does not acknowledge the snowball flashbang issue ...
I wasn't really expecting it but i was hoping
This is nice tbh
guess we will have to wait for later
they always forget a ton of stuff so there is still a tiny chance
Yeah. I'll be testing and stuff to see.
3rd feminine outfit with custom glider
as expected
@hexed cloak ahh okay
A beekeeper outfit and no apiary is so on brand
The seasonal pets are 1275 palia coins
the flutterfox is 850 coins, too ^ which is at least cheaper i guess
they are basically the og price of the regular pets
its nice if u don't have the og but not worth it otherwise
Still no tintable Kilima furniture I see....
My thing is why did they need to be a whole new pet? Why not just a festive skin for your existing pet?
yeah exactly
Because money
i hate this coffee emote
My way makes more sense but yea because money
To be fair, it could also be a coding issue.
Coffee emote is sus
The person who okayed this is the same person who keeps giving us cameltoe.
So not to sound ungrateful... but people have been asking for the Kilima set to have "tints" {apparently that is the proper terminology, thank you for that by the way} for over a year now... just saying. 🪭
💛
Legitimately cursed.
Does anyone know if we get some winter wallpapers some time? There were some last year but I wasn't playing then
They were borked the last time I check and I see no mention of them in the patchnotes so 🤷🏿 Maybe next year?
sigh, no mention of a fix for Tamala's cauldron. I'm stuck on three level 5 friendship quests because of this bug.
Oh this is interesting.
AFAIK, this is not an official Palia announcement. I think the mods added it to the discord.
" * Resolved an issue where recipes requiring Chopped Bok Choy, Chopped Green Onion, Chopped Napa Cabbage, and Chopped Ginger were not craftable. "
^ This is good, at least.
Damn. I was hoping they would fix it :/ its a pretty major bug
The devs still know it's an issue, though.
OH I know. They just haven't acknowledged or addressed it.
This is probably so infuriating and frustrating. I'm so sorry :(
I'll still check it just to be certain, but I would imagine it would have been mentioned in the patch notes if they had fixed it.
Which you'd think they would since it's ON their discord. I guess no one at S6 looks at discord or has anything to do with it.
I don't see it anywhere in the notes RIP
Love selling (broken) premium content
Oh, a new issue though
"" The flipping mechanic in the cooking minigame could become stuck in a looped animation, preventing progression. ""
It may have not been listed by accident or something, hoping that's why
To be honest, they rarely ever post every bug fix, bug issue, or even things that they added :s
I wouldn't hold my breath.
Wow they now show me how much xp i gain but doesnt say if a higher level leads to better loot or more loot when i do an activity
Noooo plz anything but that
"" You’ve got some serious skills. Why not show them off? We’ve improved XP clarity by showcasing the amount of experience earned for each skill, such as foraging, mining, etc. You can even see when your XP is boosted! And if you prefer a lil’ mystery, you can toggle off visual XP collection in the Gameplay Settings menu. ""
So... so. We can get a toggle for a (new) visual xp collecting thing, but we can't get a toggle for flash and visual effects in general?!
I feel like that's been around for a while. You have to back out and get back in for it to work properly.
Adding the dice for gold is good and I can't wait to see the new colors
I'm cackling the snowball fight isn't even a new map or mechanic it's literally "in case you missed it"
I've had no issue with the flipping mechanic... once I found out you hold and release and not click
Like, Don't get me wrong, i'm glad it's at least an option you can turn on and off. But it frustrates me, that theyre adding it for that and not for other, general, visual flashing effects.
ripppp
i ave a problem with the mission activates the island's flow portal
The gif makes me hopeful they fixed the flashbang
@fiery perch is the snowball flash missing in the gif? They don't mention anything special about snowball fights, so maybe it's their way of saying it's fixed without admitting the trouble it caused.
Hope this is retroactive since it doesn't specify.
"To unlock the recipes for each new curtain, players must complete each tier of the Room To Grow accomplishment by constructing up to 9 room add-ons to their home!"
It is missing in the gif, at least, but we'll see. I'll be testing it later. I hope it's actually gone but it is s6.
That sh is getting turned off asap
"Hunters & Chapaas is inspired by the classic Snakes & Ladders board game. Play your own way by making up your own rules!"
Why does this game INSIST on making players create their own fun?
"oh gosh i guess people might of missed it bc theyre not wanting to give friends eyestrain! Gotta make sure to advertise it again!"
god i hope it's actually fixed but im not holding my breath tbh.
I will say, I am glad that players are at least getting their own free dice.
We are getting these? They have an emote for dice. What's the difference
"And no game board is complete without dice! You can purchase the White Six-Sided Die and Red Six-Sided Die for 500 Gold each, also available at Reth’s Register in the Underground Black Market."
Looks like that one is being used via on the board itself? Just based off looking at the gif.
Will they actually be rollable? We'll see
Maybe buyable dice are plot decor, palia coin dice are portable (in way of being emote)?
Free dice only allowed in housing plots, that's why, yep
B/c they already know we can decorate better than anyone on the team. Players doing things in spite of the things they keep doing is all that's keeping the game going.
yeah, what you and kresjah said. like, it's on the board, it looks like it does some roll type animation.
so probably placed, and you can then interact with it.
Well to be fair this is in most games. Look at the sims. Much better creators than the actual game content.
i really don't get WHY they had to do it like this
and reth also WATCHING and stuff? idk something about it feels so weird to me.
why not a simple pour and drink emote
Like, could they not give us a normal tea drink emote
I would've paid for an emote of me holding a silver coffee cup and drinking it. This abomination goes with the hotdog outfit.
That new dance emoji. It... It scares me
Yeah I thought it was a simple dance, but they went... overboard.
i still can't get over that the new festive pets is literaly the old pets but with a hat on them.
I wanted a dance emote so much, just a basic silly dance... that one is so strange D:
this is what it should've been but instead we got well.. whatever this is
between some of tamala's lines and this i'm really questioning who's letting this stuff in
Pretty on brand though
💚
