I think you might be conflating two separate things! Using glitch decorating mechanics is quite allowed here. It's pretty much all anyone over in decor does atp.

We only aren't supposed to discuss unendorsed third party apps that give folks an unfair advantage, or hacking methods to like, illegally trade untradables or whatever else folks are cheating at these days.

Possibly. According to Daybreak they're trying to push a console release next year, and with the limited staff they have after three rounds of layoffs I can't imagine there's too many engineers left.

I personally think they should be prioritizing making a playable game and new content before launching on other platforms but... 🤷‍♂️

Yeah absolutely. If I was running the studio I would have wanted two towns and four adventure zones to start out with:

• Expand Kilima Village and make it its own map. No resources, just a social hub for players to gather, talk to the NPCs, shop, etc.
• Make the rest like... "Kilima Outskirts" or something
• Bahari Bay as is
• Harvest Meadows as the next town
• Harvest Fields
• Elderwoods

I feel like they could have expanded so much more on the MMO aspect of the game by putting the town(s) on a separate map from resources as a sort of gathering spot with like 200-300 people per server

It really is a delicate balancing act though, I know. It's tough finding where that line is between feeling like leveling is worth the time required but doesn't feel like an absolute grind.

For me, I just never felt any kind of serotonin release from leveling in Palia because the rate at which I was leveling was way faster than I could even digest the content.

in that context, a new platform launch can very much feel like a "oops we alienated our original audience and need to draw in a new one and get them to spend while they're still in the honeymoon phase" push, but, without addressing the core issue, it's only a matter of time before that audience feels alienated too, and the cycle continues until there's no more platforms to release on and all the opportunity to make a good first impression is spent

For starters they shipped a year old bug, which while the bug was minor shows a huge problem beneath the surface in how development is being done.

I've said it multiple times but any competent software development pipeline would catch that. And shipping the same bug twice a year apart (especially after players reported it) is yikes no matter how small. It shows huge problems in the development cycle.

If they can't even catch and fix a small bug in a year how buggy is a whole new area going to be?

And sure you can make the argument of "their resources are on the new area" but it's about optics too. It looks really really bad to ship a year old already reported bug. And that feeds back in to you have to hold onto an existing player base to even have a new area to ship to.

Shoving out an area is going to do nothing if people expect it be broken based on your previous content.

had the same thing happen to me a couple times and can be hours logged off before i can send her home. I find it happens when standing on a rock or wall mostly. If I am on the ground or dock I don't seem to get terminally stuck like that.

Yeah the most I got was 8, lately it’s been 4 if I’m lucky because there’s so many people around and not enough chappas. I run around everywhere but there’s always like 7+ people at each spawn. Idk if I’m super unlucky or if there’s a way to quickly change servers or something.

Like there’s so many players that their models won’t even load and I’m on a good computer for it

Just to make sure you know because I can think of several people who misunderstood how Fishing in Stardew works... You can click and hold to raise the bar, don't need to rapid click!

Fishing also gets easier as you level it up, you can passively raise your fishing EXP by getting Crab Pots (finishing the bundle can be done with foraging on the beach / a crab from the mines) and collecting from them, or from building Fish Ponds and just collecting whatever they give you!

Tbh, if there's anything anyone finds unenjoyable or difficult in stardew, I recommend just modding it. There are mods for everything.

Late to this but, thankfully if you play Stardew on PC there are mods to make the fishing easier or to get rid of the fishing minigame altogether. I've heard it's better on the switch and there's also the training rod which makes it easier.

You can technically finish the bundles without fishing, but it does take a bit of time and luck.

As a kid I was fired from several jobs (not customer service even!!) because I couldn't look people in the eye (I'm autistic). I... don't understand why people are calling it a glitch now suddenly. There's a flash regardless of any glitch. And also, that giant glitch flash existed last year too. It's not new or introduced because of some lighting update. The flash regardless of that is still a problem for photosensitive people. It is THE effect when you hit another entity. You can see it when you throw a snowball at someone else, when a person near you throws a snowball at someone else on your screen, when a person throws a snowball at you, when you throw a snowball at a bug, when you throw a snowball at a chapaa. It's there for all of those scenarios and it was last year too. The flash doesn't happen when you hit the ground or trees and frankly it's a much nicer looking animation.

Some of us sent in feedback about this, it was ignored entirely. They had an entire YEAR to fix both the regular flash in the animation and the glitch and they didn't. Absolutely bogus to change the wording on this just because there is also a glitched version that's worse. It's a warning for photosensitive people, and it's going to end up giving the impression that they might not have that problem if they don't have the glitch.

And yes I have proof, here's videos from last year. These effects have been here since they were introduced, as-is. Nothing has changed.

Kali does have a point. I know for some, it might not be as severe, or something similar, but it still could be an issue for a lot of people. Even if it is a "bug" or a "glitch"-- which in a sense, i do think it's a bug in the coding that just never got fixed a year ago-- it's still something that the snowballs are causing.

It definitely is great that there is a msg, and that is something I am actually thankful for-- not only to hopefully help others refrain from using snowballs as often or at all-- because im honestly on the side where, yeah, maybe just dont use them, unless there is consent-- but also so people who are photosensitive, etc, know to try to avoid them if they can.

And then it'd be totally fine to have dungeons to explore with a party - just instanced places to populate trees, nodes, huntable creatures, bugs, etc. that are all best tackled as a team.

on the topic of body options, what I'd really like to see is separating gender from body shapes.
right now we have "taller male body" and "smaller female body", what I'd like to see is:

select body shape (sliders would be amazing if at all possible)
select gendered options to apply to body shape

right now, if you want the taller body shape you have to select the male body, and if you want a shorter character you have to select the female body.
And selecting those options just to be taller or shorter takes away other options, too, such as your face options (want to be a tall character with a feminine face type? sorry NOPE) which feels really bad tbh

New World was horrid when it first came out. Lots of potential, beautiful world, but how they structured the economy was garbage. My friend assures me that's all been changed, so I might give it a go and run around in there for a while and see.

The lack of forward momentum in Palia has always baffled me.

Skills level up so quickly for... No real reason. Like, I was still trying to farm enough Softwood and Copper to make some of the first furniture sets and I was already up to Foraging 10 from that.

Releasing with only two maps was wild as well. I would have expected another village to unlock and at least two or three more adventure zones to explore by this point, but instead they focused too much on redoing the same assets over and over again.

Did you know that some of the content is also locked behind the fact that it's not inclusive? That it doesn't have accessibility features that would actually help have other players, well, play the game?

I'm locked behind specific quests due to the fact that I genuinely can't do a temple. Some people are also locked because some of the quests just don't work.

I know there have been some people enjoying a pre-alpha, called Bitcraft, which has more funny bugs than Palia. Where the fix is literally a re-log. I'ev heard my friends really enjoy that game right now with so much to do, a reason to level/progress, etc.

Most of the content in Palia is also rehashes / repeats of the same stuff over and over again. There is, as I said in the first post that started this, very little forward momentum in the game.

Let me make this comparison:
A F2P game is like an amusement park with no entry fee. You can just walk right into the place at no cost, it's FREE!!!! Amazing, right?
The amusement park is not being a kind, generous charity though. The amusement park lets you walk in and maybe enjoy a ride or two, so that you hang around long enough to spend $30 on a snack and a soft drink and possibly $50+ more from the gift shop.

Then there's Palia where there's so little content to begin with that it's not even a matter of "content you want to do" but "content" period.

It's completely okay that people enjoy the game. We aren't wanting to bash people or change their mind. We just have our own constructive criticisms and issues with the game.

I genuinely enjoy seeing people have fun with Palia. I like seeing what people build, talking about it, or even getting excited over getting a plush. I LOVE seeing people have fun.

I still want this game to do better and become the game that I believe they actually had a vision for. I want the game to actually become something that a lot of people- older players from a long time ago, to newer players that are just now getting into it-- can enjoy.

But what is frustrating is when we are having a discussion that is constructive and then having it invalidated. We aren't wanting to just complain to complain. And people here have went to support/feedback to give what we're talking about, the.. well, criticism and feedback.

Like I said earlier, talking about it and discussing it with other players, can help get thoughts into a more concise thought. Or what if you had an idea, right? Sometimes talking about it with someone, it can be more fleshed out! Or maybe their idea gives you an idea. Bouncing thoughts on eachother is honestly such a good and healthy thing to do.
