i played that game since beta, it released in 2009.

when i say "palia is basically the spiritual successor to freerealms" i mean it in the sense that so many of freerealms' features have/are being implemented into palia, like building blocks and lot types.

like if theres any game you research/look into for inspiration for palia, look at freerealms.

It's been a wild year. Last headcount in May there were maybe 36 people left at the company, then Daybreak bought it. They've basically flooded us with plushies all year to keep us distracted, but the bugs have literally made the game unplayable for so many people I wonder how much longer they can skate by on the dedication of the playerbase.

honestly id rather daybreak just make freerealms 2 than try to turn palia into a freerealms successor. i hold out hope for the sunrise project to have my nostalgia injections but man there's just not many good mmos for kids anymore. fortnite and roblox are really the only options they have anymore

no literally like freerealms did so so so much just in its first year alone compared to now w/ palia because it was a passion project. it was made to be a safe space for kids and introduce them to mmo gaming

The tactics they're employing right now are pretty scummy, but I can also see why they need time so I'm willing to wait a little bit longer before I give up completely. Truth is as much as I love it this game keeps doing things it said it would never do, and making changes that continuously let me know they do not care about my time at all. And that's not something I tolerate for long.

It's kind of funny because a lot of companies had backed off from the sub model just because of too many insigificant apps begging for subs and then people got upset because there were just too many subs to keep track of.... except subs belong to things like this, not dumb niche apps

I don't know if you've ever been at a job where the worst people fail upwards but it feels like that. We don't even have community managers anymore. The company has basically severed ties with this discord aside from it being a promotional tool.

yeah the point of the sub model for things outside of games was to consolidate things into one place and make them accessible. streaming is worse than cable as a result.

tbf separating discord from business was a good move, discord is not a good tool to use for business ventures

Simple greed made that happen. Microtransactions reap more profit by a thousand cuts and F2P models open up the game to higher player counts, even if those players are spam bots and alt accounts.

They never added trading in the beginning because it opened the door to gold sellers, and considering the current state of the game as far as functionality goes, I'm pretty much sure it will be a mess. They still haven't sorted out 4 player grouping and a chat box.

This far into the game a lot of players complain that because they only get starred items for some things once they get to higher levels it means those best equipped to help other players simply can't. So no matter what the system has casualties.

What can be considered trash for one can be considered valuable for someone else.

There are a lot of issues with the interface in general. I still can't F interact with things on my plot if I dare to look at the requests on my server. Sometimes I can fix it by jumping into the H menu, but that's just one example of why they need someone to overhaul the UI system.

I've been increasingly critical of the game specifically because I want it to succeed, and increasingly disappointed and the fact that I've had to be increasingly critical. How messed up is it that I'm over here hoping daybreak will save it? The company players have called "gamebreak" for years.

Like, they could be more transparent and more humane and that would have WON US OVER instead of being all like "oh so you got our money and thought it was gonna be enough and youre saying it's not enough omg we outta here" Most of us would probably instead be like "how may we , the players, help out? It was like that once upon a time. It could have stayed like that. Someone at the top seems to feel like that's not important or relevant, and if things go on this way they'll find out the hard way how much that matters. People will eventually bail out. They'll be sad and probably angry about it, but they will find somewhere else to take their time and money.

I just read about the maji being a week a month now, every month of the year??? isnt that a bit... dumb? I thought it was gonna be like the 1st time. A summer ending themed event, that comes back in another format for new year. the majority of players started after the first maji market, its clearly not aimed at players that are here from the start (unfortunately)

their focus are new players + players who didn’t do cake parties non stop for the first market

we'll have to see what they'll do with the market, but don't think the items will change for the ones happening this year to give everyone the opportunity to get the items (and when they'll change it'll be the luna market items again)

we can clearly see that they focus on the new area atm
and as long as they deliver a great expansion to the game it'll be fine

Most are prioritising the bigger items on theme with maji and worrying a out food later due to thr maths behind it all

Sea shells are used in some recipes. Like the ones from the Bahari rummage pile. Some bugs are needed for the bundles and can be wekly wants for villagers.

Also, shells are super easy to come by, so if you're strapped for cash there's no harm in selling them

Late, late answer but you can only get wood from any trees by chopping them down. For flow trees on plot this means you need help similar to how you need assistance chopping flow out in the wild- small and medium trees are doable solo but large ones require you to have 2 or 3 people over (and you have to give them editor permissions in the housing selection menu) to help you chop them!

Just found out that the maji market finishes tomorrow. I am no where near finished with the stamp card. Will my progress be saved for the next time it appears? there are 3 types of balloons to pop. small ones, medium ones and the big blue ones.
the bigger the balloon the more points u get.
so obviously this person was trying to hog all the big blue ones for himself, as it gives you a massive point boost to kill one.

to max out on points try to shoot as many big ones as you can, while hitting the small / medium ones between until they spawn again.

Thankyou! I've had people being rude to me about this occurrence! There is definitely something going on where a particular balloon enables tickets to just fly up into thousands.
I was told off by one guy because I kept firing at a balloon that wasn't popping-i had no idea what was going on-he said everyone just has to hit it once and then we all get the benefit of the big tickets.
He called it an infallible balloon.
I have seen players with names that I'm pretty sure are bots -standing in the game and not actually doing it.. I'm certain this correlates to the balloon hack.

it's not a blue balloon that this is occurring with!! It's the medium brown chappaa shaped balloon. I believe it's actually a hack or macro now, not something s6 have put in place. It doesn't pop and the tickets suddenly fly up by thousands.

If players hold up Hodari/Hassian/Tau by chatting to them so they don’t leave the map at the right time it doesn’t actually stop them from being where they are meant to be in the other map. I have ran past one being chatted to with more people just stopping them in Kilima village, loaded into Bahari and then they were there. Because they don’t “travel” so much as code says time to appear/disappear for each server

Hey palia and other players I know that a lot of things are in the works for next year but would it possible to make in the home in game to change your floor to that of dark wood or cherry wood besides others if wanted to have that option. Even marble flooring or tile flooring.

Hey Palia, what the heck kind of market was that dreck? Luna new year was done great, this one was buggy, grind filled and boring. Not to mention not near enough time to play to get hardly any of the items, recipes or even the nameplate. That stuff better come back in the next one with a heck of a patch. Knowing now that a new company has Palia and knowing there were layoffs, I’ve been seeing a very cash grab, bug fix less, customer careless aura about the game now. It looks like many other mmo’s that have had corporate raiding and are now husks of their former game, little advice, put care into the game and your customers and workers or it’s going to go down as one of “those games” too. I love Palia but I’m not loving this leadership. Yes Ik it’s in beta too, but I also know what games can do even as only a beta. I’m tired of that being used as a crutch and seeing so many having trouble with bugs, having to grind, extra micro transactions and now having to practically no-life the game to be able to make a dent on progressing in an event. RuneScape has lost credibility, Animal Crossing Pocket Camp has so many micro transactions and now it’s shutting down, and the entire Disney gaming corporation lost at least six mmo’s (no kidding), and plenty more mmo’s out there that have lost buzz and credibility there’s plenty of games to look at to see what NOT to do. Don’t be one of those kind of companies. Again, no hate to the Palia game and community, but I don’t think anyone would want Palia be lead down a path of such greedy direction. Fix your problems, pay attention to your players and be good to your workers, and ultimately prove me wrong where you won’t be one of “those companies”. Ik it’s a long rant but it’s happened over and over and I hate for such a good game and great community to suffer, so I rather say something than not just to not ruffle some feathers.

Well, to be fair, that particular issue isn't unique to S6. For some reason MANY devs start off with bad choices on how to approach the game coding (as one example) and end up having to rewrite things over and over again realizing the limits that needed to be removed, and in worst cases, it means a complete game rewrite which means more years of seemingly 0 progress from the player perspective. I know of a one-man dev of a mini mobile mmo that is struggling with the exact same issue and his playerbase is basically reacting similarly at the lack of progress.

Personally, I prefer Napa Cabbage over Tomatoes, as they can water each other and have a similar harvest time (cabbage in 6 days, potatoes in 5). For this reason, I grow them in mixed rows, with other crops in between. They also make decent pickles for focus.

There was the Switch release in december (I think), and the Steam release in spring 2024. They didn't largely publish it that it's still in beta (in fact, on Switch they treated it as a finished game, as far as I can tell), but their last communication was when they wrote about their plans with that other company (I forgot the name) saying they aim for an 1.0 (non-beta) release in 2025.

As a long time player, I don’t have high hopes for this game in a year. That’s not to be pessimistic or dissuade you or other new players, it’s just reality. There hasn’t been new gameplay in months, and each update is just a filler, or focuses too much on plushies and the premium store. However, I’d love to be proven wrong. It’s my favourite game, too, and in the beginning I was definitely addicted. However, having played for a long time, I was always caught up as new things were released, and now I have nothing to do, other than decorate. Even decorating gets old/fries my brain after a while. I’m excited for Elderwoods next Spring, and hope for more quests in the near future, too. Also, I hope the devs stop putting so much stuff behind RNG because many of us are unlucky/are without certain items, due to RNG.

During my time playing, there have been a lot of improvements and fixes. We can climb most cliffs now; we get gems from stones; we have muujin; we have temples; we had the first Maji market; you can make money on almost anything, and so on. That was all great, but the last new game-play thing I can think of was the Roots temple, around six months ago. I'm pretty good at keeping myself amused by switching interests and goals, but even I will eventually get bored.

They’ve definitely made improvements, and both of our statements can be true at once. The temples were always a part of the overall story to the game. The muujin and gems are just add ons, which is nice, but the devs find ways to take “good things away” (nerfing the gem’s selling price multiple times).

When I sent feedback for the Lunar New Year event, one of the things I praised them for was how easy it was to earn tickets. I missed the majority of the market and was only able to play for the last few days, but because of Hotpot, i was able to snag enough tickets to get everything I wanted.

I was in a similar situation this time around with not enough time to play and I was only able to get the recipes from Reths booth.

I think the thing is they don't want us to be able to get everything at once - otherwise the drip feeding of the market loses appeal after day 1 (ignoring the bugs which had that effect anyway).
With the resources they've got though I don't know how they find the balance between pleasing both I want to be able to get everything now and give me lots of content to work through longer term (I am also that person who wants both).
The quality-quantity-speed triangle doesn't feel like it's delivering in any corner currently. The optimistic side of me is holding out full judgment until Elderwood.

Not necessarily that they take too much, just that I like to save my glass panes and bulbs for larger crafting project items, like when I needed to craft a bunch of homestead display cases for my new starstone display, or crafting spring fever string lights which take so many bulbs!! I also do this to stock up on lamps and chandeliers from Tish so I have some on hand and don't "waste" materials pulling a few smalls for, say, a tiny lil nook decorating project that just needs a lil bit of spice

And not at gold cap, closest I got was recently for market (tongue pbbbbbt sound here, I spent way more at the falloween store than market) so now I'm back down to under 400k. I try not to buy a ton of building supplies either unless I'm in the middle of a project and need em, it feels like a waste of gold even when I have plenty lol something about being able to produce all our own stuff makes buying it feel a little like a shortcut (for me, for the sake of the gameplay I totally get needing supplies sometimes though and am glad it's available!)

Ooh, love this thought process. After the update late last year or early this year that made our house DARK between 19:30-21:00, I have to craft so many lights to keep areas lit. I love chandeliers, but I hate how low it hangs, unless they’re in the harvest house or grand harvest house. Also, some chandeliers aren’t bright enough. Love the Ravenwood one, but it’s more stylish than practical. The string lights hurt my soul with how many bulbs it uses. 🥴

yep, a lot of people have spoken up about how unfair and unobtainable the reaction nameplates are. I've even sent in feedback to change these nameplates to be made into achievements like the coffee cup ones so that people will be guaranteed to get them eventually instead of relying on either begging or advertising their plots all the time. i haven't logged into the game for a week, but last time i was on, i only had 1 vote to my plot

on paper, the house tours sounded great. allow people from all over the world to view other player's creativity and maybe get inspiration from those that they visit and to give an reaction as to how they feel about the plot. unfortunately, in practice, it's turned into nothing more than a popularity contest where if you're not advertising and begging, and then speed dating the tours, you will never see the nameplate that you actually want

also to add, the fact that people are basically speed dating the house tours means that your highly decorated plot, the home you've spent hours of love, care, and grinding to make it lovely, and almost everyone just pops in and then leaves means that your work goes unnoticed

which is why they (and future ones) should all be achievements. can keep the numbers that you need the same, but if you want the rainbow nameplate only you can just focus on going on tours (at your leisure) and giving the reaction that you want to the plots if you think that it deserves it

Well I don't think nameplates were meant to be "obtainable" by everyone. Though the current system they currently have is unfair 😅.
I remember the they said something like "the people that worked really hard and got a lot of votes on trending will be able to reach tier 4" (as in the deserving people).

I would have been fine with needing to get 1,000 votes for top-tier if the votes were cumulative. Getting that many in a week is only obtainable if you make Palia a part-time job. Even then, would you have any time to actually play the game or would you spend it all farming votes? Cutting the required votes in half did nothing for the average player. It just made things easier for the select few that didn't really need the help.

House tours were a great idea that was horribly implemented. Just put the required votes back to what they were and allow us to accumulate them over time.

I was wondering if anything had changed but I see it hasn't. I really loved this game but with the unfair RNG for plushies and Makeshift Furniture (after more than a year I should have most of the makeshift and I'm not even close) The plot tours were just the icing to make me totally stop playing. Maybe because I've been playing the My Time games that Palia just seems to lack any meaningful content. That game has quest after quest after quest. Even just little quests I'd take. Those leading houses are always the ones that gets viewed by default, which is a confusing design choice for me. That means those same houses are being funneled those votes by random players just jumping in and out. To view randomized houses, you literally have to swap tabs and then refresh before proceeding. Just... counterinutitive I guess.

housing tours are like... the place where I think getting a housing-decor trophy would have been thematically appropriate, despite literally everything else in the game reward-wise being furniture already tbh
I would have preferred seeing nameplates be rewards for, say, maxing out an NPC's friendship (example: getting sword themed nameplate for maxing out friendship with sifuu, etc)
and also for achievement rewards (get a cool fancy fish themed nameplate for catching all fish, etc)

the game is in serious need of earnable rewards that aren't decor, but instead they tied the one non-decor earnable cosmetic to.... showing off home decor. lol

everyone gets for example the sandy palcat through a quest with delialah (barn palcat had litter, but can't find where mom took them for safety) when you find them, and bring them back, delialah will give you the sandy version as a reward. then the nocturnal and the other three will be available to purchase in the cash shop

find a dragon egg while running around in bahari, take the egg to siffu and you have a quest to go to the fire temple to warm the egg, wait one or two palia days, then return to get a the basic colored drake, buy the other versions in the shop

by deciding that entire item/reward categories must be either 100% monetized or 0% monetized, with basically no exceptions, they have basically painted themselves into a corner where the only earnable reward that can exist is furniture, or something that's eventually used to obtain furniture
Pets are paywalled, plot scenery is paywalled, all forms of wearable cosmetics are paywalled, tool skins are paywalled, etc.
As long as they insist on making entire item categories all-or-nothing monetization wise, they can't make any cool earnable rewards, it's all just furniture furniture and more furniture because pretty much everything else has already been put into the cash shop

and that stance is going to be the death of them if they don't eventually reconsider, imho

i've actually had to stop playing because of the decor limit. i've done everything in the game save for the last quest of finding a shepp. all npc's are maxed out, the majority of my achievements are completed, i'm constantly at gold cap, i'm at 2006/3000 decor on my main plot. there is nothing for me to really do. the rng of the plushie hunting or hotpot decor is abysmal and sucks the fun out of it. not to mention that switch hunting is practically impossible especially with the muujin (by the time i cut the tree down and get my bow out, the muujin are half way across the map and jumping into another tree)

As far as I saw, it isn't an MMO. It's a game with "multiplayer co-op" with 1-4 people

As far as being worried about palia... Let me put it this way. If Palia is doing everything it can to make an enjoyable game, it has nothing to worry about.
On the other hand, if people are dissatisfied with the decisions S6 is making, and only play palia because it's the only game filling the "online multiplayer cozy game" niche, then maybe some competition would be good in the long run. Competition forces you to get better and listen to feedback or be left behind, whereas if you have no competition you can just be lazy and not try to improve on anything or listen to feedback.

The house tours refresh each week. If you earn enough votes for a nameplate, it gets awarded to you. Regardless of whether or not you earn a nameplate, all votes accumulated that week get reset to zero.

All houses are removed from the tour at the end of each week. If you want your house to stay on tour you have to resubmit it.

Just poking my head in cause I've been lurking. Evershine is as much of a "ripoff" of Palia as Palia is of any other cozy game. It's the same genre, you expect many similar systems. And as mentioned, the My Time series has existed before Palia was even thought up. And Palia didn't invent gliding in a video game either

Portia was okayish, Sandrock was great, and while Pathea isn't a perfect company their communication and frequent updates felt like a breath of fresh air when I played Sandrock after taking a break from Palia lmao. And with Evershine being the third game in the series I have good expectations even if it's not gonna be in full release for quite a while but hey, at least they're open about beta/early access!

honestly I do recommend Sandrock to anyone burnt out on Palia

About that Kickstarter campaign for Evershine...it quite apparant from the daily little blogs they put out on their Discord that the new title has been in development for a while already. They also have basically said that they're getting some financials from within China(since they stated they reached the 1.7M goal combining the Kickstarter campaign with Chinese funds). Also, if I read their announcement correctly the game could be releasing sometime at the end of 2025, yes, still a year away, but a lot closer than some might imagine.

they hunt for a considerable amount of time, hunt in groups, etc. the rates on stuff is really really low and a lot of people help others get plushies so get them themselves as a result

The only tip I can give, don't do it alone, in a party is better. The people that have many plushies literally play a lot. A few have mentioned that they also got lucky but most people just do that all the time and nothing else, hunt for plushies.

I'm missing 3 to have the entire collection but I don't particularly search for them, I just do my weeklies and keep in mind wat I still need to hunt.

Does anyone have advice for getting more Home Tours reactions? I've been trying since day 1, but I can't seem to even get to 50 on all my reactions, much less the 200 or 500 ones. I keep making posts, doing "react for reacts", and asking in the servers if anyone wants to trade. I've put an insane amount of time in this game and plot and I'm just feeling extra discouraged today.

What am I doing wrong? How can I advertise better?
Is the problem that I don't have a Facebook and am not in any groups there?

Sorry for the vent, I'm just losing my hope and I don't know what to do 😭

Please know that you’re doing absolutely nothing wrong. It’s totally understandable, and you’re valid in feeling discouraged. To spend the time that many of us have put into this game and to not see the “reward” can be quite saddening. There are various people who have gotten the rewards absolutely deserve every last vote they received. It’s truly based down to sheer luck and friendship groups. I’m more than aware that there are certain people (from what I can see in this server alone) that will always get recognition for their builds. There’s friend groups, etc. Don’t apologise for venting because thousands of others feel exactly the way you do. While I believe that you being happy with your plot is the most important thing, having others praise/acknowledge your hard work feels great!

I like my plots. That said, I’m aware that I have better “luck” or people enjoying my builds IN game, rather than with other people that are active in this server. I see who talks/reacts to who, etc., so I just mostly keep to myself. At the end of the day, I’m just glad to have a game I enjoy and don’t have to think too much.

i feel you but personally unless they fix the tons of bugs.. even just a little bit at a time.. im not putting in anymore time into it outside of actual playing

I just decorate because it’s all I can do. 😅 That, and after a year, I still don’t have my main plot completely done, so that’s what I’m focusing on now. For me, I definitely feel the nameplates are unreachable for me, as well. I’ve only ever unlocked tier 1 on 3 of the 5 nameplates. Maybe one day, I’ll get lucky. The Maji nameplate and the “Very cool” nameplate are the only ones I would even think of using (aside from the Femme Fatale one that you can purchase with tour tickets. I have that one in use now).

I totally get that. I just get such a bad case of fomo I guess lol. I wish they would just make out reactions carry over each week. It's like they're completely ignoring all the people who have been asking for that since they started the touring system 🥺

I feel you. I've been playing for a little over a year now too. I love all of the tier 4 nameplates unfortunately for me lol. Feels like I'll never get them. I have the frog one that you buy with the tickets and the maji market one.

I know not bothering with the tours is easier said than done for people that genuinely want those nameplates.

For me, I just want people see mine when they’re up. (I don’t have a plot up this week, in case anyone decides to search for it, fyi). I’m not pressed about the plates.
