And if I may make a comparison too, there are games and DLCs on Steam that add actual gameplay for a quarter of this, not just cosmetics.
Anyway, it's their game and I really don't want to rant too much about it.

is there anything in the game that requires 7(possibly 8) leather to make? I was playing earlier and determined I needed 7 leather to make something, but after taking a break and coming back, I completely forgot what it was for. I went through all my crafting recipes and nothing I have even needs any amount of leather to make lol

This was it. The heavy smelter needed the leather, but the full recipe wasn't showing. It fixed itself when I checked after a few minutes. I thought I was going crazy for a second lol

found out most of the furniture i want is from the makeshift/fishing items.. is there an easier way to get them? glow worms?

Personally I find some servers just give a lot of chests than others, not sure if there’s some server settings like weather that have an effect on the spawn rate of certain fish and therefore how many chests, but glow worms in bubbles usually gives 1 chest every 10 glowies

If you fish for 50 glowies and don’t get a chest I’d suggest trying to server hop

It’s mostly down to rng I guess but I personally usually run around kilima fishing in bubbles only, or fish in bahari caves

You always want to use Glow Worms, and fish in the hotspots, but if you're not fishing at the proper time of day for the location you're fishing, you will get 0.

Did some comparing, which was annoying because of Palia funnymoney, but it appears that the cost range of FFXIV clothing and the cost range of Palia clothing are about the same, except Palia's outfits can get more expensive than the FFXIV glam top price of $18. some of Palia's is... 25? 30? my head hurts from trying to calculate this here lol. It also gives you only three preselected palettes to choose from, where FFXIV outfits are mix/match and dyeable in dozens of colors (for the most part, I don't bother with the few that aren't dyeable, usually the character cosplay ones).

When you factor in the 4 pets that you can unlock alongside buying coins, it evens out though
I can't recall how much store minions are on XIV but in WoW they're like 10 or 15$ when not on sale, so those are a collective 40$ alone if you consider them equivalent

most of em were nerfed tbh, the gold value from them into glow worms is only like a few gold now, you get a tad more via normal worm farms though just not much - overall it's just less hassle with shrooms, they only cost 16g each and you get way more back

I wanna dye the Trioan set for my Dancer, or the Warg set to match the "Wolves" theme of PvP, a lot of color schemes that have for stuff that can't be dyed are tacky too.

ngl, Square needs to hire fashion designers because they can't make good looking clothes for non-Tank classes, but that's just how I feel. Drip is like my number 1 thing in mmos, andd ffxiv has a lot of missing if you don't play Tank or is into "realistic modern fashion" in your FANTASY game. Maybe it's because I'm still not used to the FF aesthetic after playing for quite sometime, i dunno.

PvP is my favorite thing in EVERY MMO, PvE is nice and all, but eh, finding groups for end game bosses with people i probably wont like sucks.

I play most of my games like single player games, but I do have a raid group and a keys group for WoW

I played WoW since WoD (technically Wrath), I quit because the issues with finding keys and raids got worse and worse, especially since it seeped into PvP in Dragonflight. Where you could not even upgrade BIS for Rated BGs without doing Heroic raids, but you could not get into Heroic raids if you could not get keys, and you could not get into keys if you item level wasn't high enough or had experience with keys.

Like they really wanted to force people to raid this expansion

For me, I play mmo for socialization, otherwise i'd play a single player game, but I do not like content that you're forced to even though you prefer different gameplay (forced to do pve when you main pvp)

the only thing I do not like about Palia is two things, from so far, it looks like I'm slaughtering animals that seem powerless, yes, it's a cozy game, but man. At least give us big monsters and stuff to kill that Sifu is always talking about, where the damage they deal is pretty much depleting our focus bar. Also fashion, ngl base fashion sucks, and fashion is EVERYTHING in every mmo and cozy game, how did they neglect this and pull a League of Legends.

You think people regrind old raids and dungeons for no reason, nah, we do it for drip, also making money, but using money to buy drip.

They hsould have done more with Island Sanctuary, should have been alternative housing, but FFXIV fans get mad anytime anything in game seems remotely similar to WoW (Garrisons) T.T I loved Garrisons. The auction house, all my pets, portals to the main city, the guildbank, my mount stable, it was all in one place. Island Sanctuary should have had all of that if they wanted it to have continued use.

1. taelia is right. a kazillion people.
2. the discord can still be used to workshop ideas before turned into a ticket
3. using a ticket system means they need a little bit more refinement before submitting, so people actually think abt what theyre doing
4. tickets are more organized. in the backend, you can sort them, and mark them done. if devs used the discord, the labor of turning suggestions into tickets would be on them

I was just implying that you were swatting away the alternatives offers, while insisting they add it here, which doesn't help the devs or you. And that you should at least try that alternative. I'm sure so many people already asked the same thing you did, but there is very little effort in the difference between using that resource and demanding it be on discord while saying you don't wanna use what is already offered, which you have said. Just comes off as Karen'y at that point.

Regarding sensitivity in the community, I think S6 solidly did that to themselves by pushing so hard on 'cozy' 'chill vibes' and 'welcome home' in all of their marketing and community interactions and initiatives. A lot of the people attracted to Palia were lured in by the shiny pebble of 'soft game', and so when something is perceived as rougher than that, it shatters the illusion some.

It doesn't mean a game can't have challenges and difficult themes and complex character development, it's just not going to be what people expect when all of the communications have been so... sugary.

For sure, but if there were a battlebucks or dungeon crispies token system, doing the dungeon would grant a good set amount of them (plus a chance to find more while adventuring) and also an opportunity to loot rewards directly. An alternative system would allow you to maybe go to an NPC/ Shop register and trade crops, bugs, or some other out-in-world things for those same dungeon tokens, just at a slower rate/with a weekly cap.

And then when you've saved up enough tokens, either by doing dungeons or doing trade-ins, you'd go see Sifuu and she'd hoot super loud and give you access to her stash of Neat Things™️.

They claim it'll ruin immersion to see Reth at other people's houses etc, but I think just using object phasing for the 'spouse/roommate' npc would be an easy way around this. SO many games use phasing when someone finishes x quest the npc vanishes for them but not everyone else

like, the obvious solution is object phasing to me. Player 1 moves Reth in, Player 2 still sees Reth at the bar and wandering around. Reth still leaves his daily schedule from 'your house' and then in town he's just on his regular schedule. There's so many instances in this game where Reth, for example, is at his bar, and then a quest is like 'talk to him in his store room' and SURPRISE he's there instead. So i dont see how it'd be any more 'unbelieveable' than that

Considering that I can already see 13 people standing behind Tish and/or leaping over tables in the background when I talk to her, I think I could handle her appearing at people's homes. This is already a thing with visiting villagers. One of my friends trapped Jel there and hasn't cleared his dialogue, so he's been trapped there for several months.

Tbh pathing is pretty awkward to write for a scheduled NPC when they get 'stuck' because they need to have their 0 spawn point be their reset point usually, the easiest way to get around that is to make a warp path for the NPC when/if they get stuck

Honestly, this is the biggest shift that (nearly) ruined the game for a lot of us and this happens over a long company break. I suppose what the game loses in EU and AP players, they gained back in Switch players? Not all of us can shrug and jump on a VPN.

However it did force me to get active in this Discord and make some new friends, which isn't a bad thing. I've gotten quite a bit of quality play with people in my region, hosted a house tour, went on a house tour. Literally everyone is in the same boat as us. I can't wait until they fix this, but I also think this has changed the way a lot of people play the game. Or not play any more.

Absolutely agree! Palia is a cosy, fun game and from the start was all around community. My BFF and her family are in America (they are essentially my family) and the majority of the community built is American with a smattering of EU. Honestly, I always looked forward to Palia time with my friends and family at the weekend. Especially as we have to factor in time zones and the joys of adulting. Sadly, this isn’t a thing we can do together anymore. Whilst I could go out and make new friends, the thought of doing that is overwhelming for me. I don't like MMOs as a general rule because I don't like having to depend on others to do certain things. The reason why Palia worked for me is because I don't have to play with anyone else. The only exception are flow trees, and it became undoable in that first week after the region servers dropped. It's never been a problem when we defaulted to the NA servers. People always called out and waited for everyone who called back. Now we've had hordes of Switch players collaborating outside the game who ravage through groves and leave while I'm doing my lonely "anyone see it?" in chat. 🥲

On the one hand - I always advocated not to release updates before holdiays with the products I worked on.
But also.. there's something to be said about just.. dropping it and elaving everyone to their own devices. You can sort out what issues are real issues, and what is "oh, right, i forgot to turn the wifi on" problems after a week or two much easier 😅

I think.. the core issue with S6 is.. they have released it to public, with a functioning shop (undestandable, and anotehr can of worms), but call it beta. Meaning it's kinda a beta.. and a released game at the same time.

Thousands are playing (if not more), but lack the skill/knowledge of how to report actual issues, beyond complaining in reddit/discord. Tickets with log files, video and screen captures are much more efficient,. but they have created a community of thousands who.. want to play the game, yet there are known issues since closed beta that have not been solved.

So we are at a standstill.. more requests come in than they are capable of solving. Not to mention.. we are obiously guinea pigs with no real testing done of some releases beforehand.
