For any of you on Xbox: you can use your phone as a keyboard for chat with the Xbox app.

Make sure you set up the console in your app so you can use the 'remote' feature. You can then open a 'remote' — buttons on your phone screen to control the Xbox. Palia doesn't respond to the remote, but the Xbox system does! When you press the keyboard icon it opens up your phone keyboard.

When you unfold chat with RB, then press A to make the keyboard appear on your TV/screen, you can then type away on your phone (: And when you're done, send the message with your controller and continue playing.

Played on PS5 and first off, it's BEAUTIFUL compared to Switch. Super smooth. Unfortunately I keep getting a few issues where I can't back out. I had to close the game because I couldn't back out of my chest and it then took 5 minutes to log back in due to 555 players ahead. Unsure if its related to me changing the controls for O to interact and X to jump (to match switch controls I'm used to) but just FYI

Just got of the game on PS5. Cleared one slot for everyone waiting in the queue, haha.

It runs like a breeze and looks beautiful. The controls are very intuitive, with minor hiccups here and there. Comparing with PC, I might stay on PS5 since it is so cozy to just lay on couch and take care of my plot.

I am very glad that the developers truly put some effort into it and gave us this beautiful 4K60 experience.

So excited about the Elderwood update, but so sad about how the update has affected my gameplay on Switch.

The Elderwood play area is mysterious and gorgeous, and the storyline and quests are new and challenging and, well, magical, but the lagginess of my Switch play has taken a toll on me.

Takes forever to log into the game or transport between game maps (home plot, Kilima, Bahari, Elderwood, Underground, Temple Anything), and then once I get into an area, my avatar struggles to take a couple steps, then freezes for five seconds or so, toils to makes a few more movements, then lurches and freezes again, repeats over and over and over. Finally had to stop gameplay and put the Switch to sleep. I very much want to play Palia, but this stopping and starting and halting and jumping drives me crazy.

Sure hope the devs can/will do something to repair gameplay for we Switchers.

Lots of Switchers, myself included, support this game with our pocketbooks, and we pay just as much for Premium Shop items as do Steamers and PC players. So, not asking for special treatment, simply that we should have access to the same quality of play that they get.

Contacting the support might be the easiest solution at this point. I had nothing but positive attitude and very quick help when contacting them regarding problem.

I personally had zero issues playing the game after the update dropped on PS5.

This is an issue on the switch. If you mess up your password or something when linking, you can very VERY easily accidentally skip to create a new character. Once that happens you HAVE to contact support, there is no other way.

You'll need to make a character for them to delete, and get pics of the character with name and all skill levels as proof. Injsut named mine "deleteme" or soemthing

Hodari gives you the base, but he sells the recipes for the upgraded versions. You can find him in Bahari bay most of the time, but he heads into Kilima Village at night before going home to sleep.

You need to raise mining skill levels to get teh better pickaxes

I'm glad you're enjoying it. I didn't really enjoy the beginning but it gets better. Especially once you start finding friends and can do things together. Also the plot decorating is my favorite for sure! Have fun!

It runs fine on ps5 for me, however I found the fishing IMPOSSIBLE. Even basic fish are breaking the line even with fishermen brew. I have to use PC to fish.

I use my ps5 controller on PC too, but on console the reticle doesn't move as fast and it drives me crazy.

You have to go into your menu, to friends, then there's an add button near a search bar, click it type your friend ign and they should receive a notification to accept.

I did that exact thing I had to use my shipping box as temporarily storage and then quickly do the quest before the shipping time. also when I got the work table I had to click l3 or r3 idr which. it went into my homes storage hopefully that helps if you still need help.

I believe it's because you bought one on Switch for example and then one on PlayStation.

The coins stay tied to whichever platform you are on, I imagine because if you buy via PlayStation then Sony get a cut and same thing with Nintendo... So, it stays locked to whichever one you bought it on.

Tried to go thru plot gate into kilima and get "unable to connect - please try again. --- beacon client failed to connect". and a quick flash pop up saying failed to connect to server. Tried 3 times. Ran around plot and relentless freeze every 5-8 seconds approx. chapaa icon at loading in screen going to kilima thru gate freezes for couple mins frequently as trying to load. I am trying to get a 30 video capture, but can't get off my switch

Also to note, I have Palia on internal not on sd card, and have all other games I play on sd card. Have deleted and redownloaded game twice in past day and also hard booted switch twice. Would send a vid if I can get it off my switch, if that can help

Not only is it taking much longer than usual in the loading screen but it'll push you back to the login screen and tell you unable to connect to the game server.

For switch? You can, but there are some inconvenient limitations.... punctuations don't work caps don't work in some situations. Been awhile since I used one, and I used one that can connect to the joycons (mini keyboard) and it helped with in game chat for speed and not losing visuals

@heavy iris hi. I have made comments here today with 2 player accounts I have and tests I did. I have now tried to use my partner's Palia account on his switch and it running very well! He has a fairly new account he never plays, so it is extremely early game (pre-glider status), about 3 friends and very little in the way of stuff on plot, in storage, etc, etc. I can get from plot to Kilima easy, first load into game was fast, load into Bahari from plot was fast and even getting into elderwds new area was relatively fast. As a note, his switch has not nearly the usage mine has had, game wise but we do have the same approx. amt free space in memory. Unsure if this helps, but I find this to be a remarkable difference than what I've been able to do thus far since elderwoods launch.

My Switch update from yesterday’s unplayability: Seven (7) minute login, still freezing and holding, less severe than yesterday (movement for 15-20 seconds, then frozen for 5-10 as opposed to yesterday’s movement for 5-10 seconds, then frozen for 15-20), so still very detrimental to gameplay. Three minutes to transport to Kilima, 5 minutes to get into the Underground, another five to get out. Freezing makes it extremely difficult to fish, practically impossible to catch bugs—and I don’t trust the game at all to let me play Hot Pot or cook. Gad, I have enough trouble simply trying to put fertilizer on my hard-to-plant crops! Takes forever with the freezing and glitching.

At the moment, I’m trying to play through.

And what’s weird? The whole time I’m frozen, the Palia music and background sounds (gatherables, creatures, etc.) continue playing as normal. Nothing frozen as far as they’re concerned.

Another strange thing: Creatures very near my avatar freeze along with me; butterflies will hang still in the air, chapaas will sit upright for an extended time.

However, other players swinging through my area are not at all affected. And, they can take advantage of the frozen creatures around me.

It upset me earlier today when, frozen in place, my avatar’s arms upraised while using a pickaxe to mine ore in Kilima, two other players ran through the area. They managed to chop down a tree and mine some ore before I could move again. Very embarrassing to me to be caught by other players like that. And then, I could only move long enough to finish mining that one node before freezing up again. So, I am definitely not joining any parties while my avatar is in this condition.

Maybe we need to come up with a medical name for this condition from which our avatars suffer? Call it what it is—some kind of Elderwood paralysis, or EP for short?

Odd thing, I shot a baby sernuck with a slow down arrow and 3 did not take it down!!! Never seen this before, they usually go with 1. 1 fine arrow took it, but that seems weird to me

I'm restarting it now to see if there's any difference. I'm even seeing people under the online friends say "add friend." I'm not sure what this means?

Everything is lagging and glitching on my Switch. When I'm in my inventory it freezes, gardening freezes and glitches, adding items to my sawmill, preserves jars, and other hoppers it freezes and glitches. Just running from one area to another area on my plot it freezes. All over the different maps it keeps freezing and glitching. Fishing, hunting, bombing the bugs, even foraging it keeps glitching and freezing. I want to play it so much, but I can't and it's getting very frustrating!! I give up again trying to play today, I'll try again tomorrow.

When I was able to get in yesterday and play for a good 4-5 hours it was definitely lagging when hunting. The creatures would appear and before I could hit it, they had already moved. It could also be a server thing because I am usually in Asia/Pacific being Aussie but was playing with friends on the North American server. Game play also was very laggy when moving about. You would move and it would freeze momentarily.

As of right now too I can’t even log into switch. I’m getting this screen again. I click ok on the announcements page at start up then it just crashes.

I submitted a ticket the other day and followed all of their suggested "fixes". Nothing has worked for my Switch. Imagine watching a movie and getting to watch 5 seconds of footage and then somebody hits the pause button for 5 to 10 seconds, unpauses it for 5 seconds, pauses again for 5 to 10 seconds, repeat ad nauseam. Completely unplayable at this point.

I’ve been playing Palia on Switch since last June. Gameplay was excellent then but has since steadily degraded, to good to mediocre to poor to awful to, now, nonexistent.

Chances are your server didn't load properly. Switch servers (by switching maps or logging out), then go back in to get a working server.

Personally I think so. The hardware has been fully overhauled. Other games that weren't even close to being possible on the switch will be on the switch 2. Elden Ring, Cyberpunk, Hogwarts. I could go on.

I'll be honest. The first games for the Switch I played were played on a Steam Deck. I used an emulator to run them, with very varying degrees success. Then Nintendo started cracking down. One emulator got sued out of oblivion and the other took a wad of cash from Nintendo (allegedly) to shut down. I then decided to "go legit" and I'm glad I did.

For me, the Switch is a good value for the money. I only buy the exclusives.

i think when you start the game after downloading it, it asks you to log in. it should automatically link your account as long as you use the same email/password you used to create your palia account. what issue are you experiencing?

hmmm… i think accounts are created if you don’t log into your existing one when you open the game on a new launcher/platform. unsure if there’s a way to unlink and log in through your PC account. you can try creating a support ticket? another option is creating a new profile on PS5 — you might be able to log into your PC account from there, but unfortunately would have to use that profile to play the game with your PC account (this works for Switch, i assume it works the same for PS5.)

Just putting this out there—I have been fairly outspoken about my Switch difficulties with the game freezing and glitching, badly, since the update. Basically, I have not been able to play and/or enjoy the amazing new update materials.

Anyhoo, yesterday, one of the devs suggested that my ginormous friends/community list (around 100 folks) might be part of the problem with my gameplay on Switch.

I wanted to wait for confirmation, so I closed out of the game and determined to try again today and look for any improvements in movement and continuity.

No such luck. The game was lagging and glitching and freezing just as much as ever. Perhaps worse.

So, I decided to follow up on one part of the dev’s suggestion about my expansive friends list: I left the 24-member community in which I was registered.

Easy to do. Just hit +, then Communties, Y for Leave, and confirm.

Omg. Immediate, massive improvement.

I didn’t even have to close out the game and log back in.

The lagging and freezing and glitching disappeared. Altogether. Nothing but smooth, uninterrupted gameplay!

Mind blown.

My avatar has been able to move without delay. I watered my garden without trouble. I used the crafting machines without difficulty.

Even my palcat, my little Alpha, noticed the improvement and kept wagging her tail. 😊

So, just sayin’, this community overpopulation might be a real thing,

Don’t know for sure, because I haven’t left my home plot yet.

So, I’ll check back in here after traveling around the different maps and provide an update on my experience with Switch gameplay.

So, just got back from Kilima. Normal Switch gameplay there 😊

Less than a minute to transport there. Normal halting on the way down to the village, just a couple times. which I’m used to. We Switchers know that we can’t just rush down there—we have to give the village sufficient time to populate the space. No problem going up and down stairs, talking to Subira, repairing my tools.

Less than a minute to enter the Underground, where I bought a rug and redeemed my Zeki coin, then left again in under a minute. Didn’t trust the game enough to play Hot Pot, still testing this freshly bestowed mobility.

Mined some clay and accessed the loot pile, clicked map and X to come back to my plot, and loaded my new stuff into my storage chest, no sweat, no freezing at any time.

Came here to tell you folks that my Switch gameplay really is better after (regrettably) leaving community. Still have all my friends; didn’t touch that list.

I have to clock out of the game for a while, so I won’t be able to offer a report about Bahari or Elderwood until a good bit later. Things to do 😊

Curious question: What would her leaving the community do? There's those not in a community and has next to nothing in friends that are having the same issues as those in a community and lots of friends.

Just left my community and I can confirm my game is running better. Much better. It’s still freezing when I’m running around my plot, or anywhere but it’s only once or twice now instead of every minute. Loading into each zone takes 1-2 minutes instead of 4-5 mins. I noticed that my game does freeze up in EW but so long as I wait a minute or so to let the assets load in, game runs fine. Dialogue barely bugged out on me. So far it’s working fine.

Hopefully this issue fixes soon cuz I do want to join communities in the future if it’s the thing causing issues

Just as a "Let's see what happens" thing, I also left the community I was in (I didn't mind leaving as I wasnt very active in it) and my game is not lagging at all now on Switch...

I’m not in a community yet I still have the horrible lag on my switch. Started to get this bad after the hotfix

We think there are multiple different things happening, but please tell me (ping) if Community leaving is affecting your performance positively

i have two accounts one is in a full community and has about 15ish friends has the freezing/lagging issues the other has like 3 friends and no community and it running perfectly fine. both accounts are on the same switch.

Omg this WORKED. As soon as i removed my community, i was walking around and doing everything like normally with NO glitching

Leaving my community changed my playing experience significantly. I barely lag now, where yesterday i couldnt go 10m without lagging

Ahhhh i dont remember them, no. It was a community i joined last year when i first returned to the game, but we never had events or anything so thats why i decided leaving wouldnt be terrible
