try your best to keep this fish in the green zone. if the fish jumps out of the water you don't have to keep holding down on your mouse to reel in, same if the fish goes out of the green zone, only reel when its green. it'll take some time to get used to it but just keep on trying. you got this!

Bugs weren't too bad back when I did mine other than the RTB. There were no groves back then for epic bugs to spawn in and server takeover parties weren't really a thing cuz there were no plushies either, so those took a bit of time to find even with buzzy jars and lures.

Because you'll spend most of the 3h having to run around bahari to find bubbles, sometimes they only spawn at 2 locations (statue garden and flooded fortress) and you lose a lot of fishing time to that

I went to the flooded fortress and just hopped left and right using the tuning fork, when I’d done fishing the bubbles on one side, there was always a new bubble on the other, when I ran out of bubbles, id server hop to a friend on a different server and start again. I got mine doing it that way

This might be a silly question - I'm fishing in the Underground using glow worms, but it never shows that my number of glow worms is decreasing, as though they're not being consumed. Is this a visual glitch or does the Underground do stuff differently with glow worms or something?

If you have multiple stacks of glow worms, it's probably decreasing it from another stack, check your actual inventory inbetween catches

Glow worm output is based on the sale value of the item put into it, so any high value dishes work. I personally prefer burgers/cakes as there's a ton of cooking parties for those dishes

I don't think it's glitching. It's still luck based, the potion is just supposed to increase the chances. But it's still possible for him to not catch any and for you to catch them.

Ok this may be a stupid question. I just came back to the game. I left before they ever put fish plushies in the game. To fish the plushies do u need to use the same bait as the fish. Or can you just use a hook?

Fish plushes will drop from the body of water the fish is from, but bait doesn't matter.
There are a couple outliers e.g. prismfish plushes can be caught in Kilima lake despite a 'Prismfish' not being a thing (unless you count the Prism trout). Ancient fish plushes aren't obtainable from fishing, but rather from Zeki. The large ancient fish plush is from the UG wheel (with hotpot tokens), and the regular size is from his wondrous machine (with lucky coins)

ooh so for the Maws Fin Plush, that can randomly drop when you reel in an actual Maws! same with the river/giant shark fins, they drop randomly when catching lake sharks.
the maws plush (full maws shark plush) will work as normal, being a possible catch when fishing in Elderwood saltwater, same with the full river shark plush.

Additionally, a random mix of these eggs can be found by Foraging, Gardening, and Ranching.

Every now and then, but very rarely, some players say they can get starred fish outside of starred nodes. It's definitely a bug and not a game mechanic, starred/bubble nodes are the only way (theoretically) to get starred fish.

My idea is that some bubbles are actually there, just not displaying. I've seen "bubbles" without the bubbles, just the jumping fish lol so not hard to imagine that they could be completely invisible.... sometimes you also have bubbles that disappear after you've casted and before the fish bites and yet you do get a starred fish. Those could be 2 faces of the same "bug".

I'm sure that's very frustrating, definitely keep trying though. You will eventually hook it. A tip I got a long time ago was to switch servers after 20 mins or so if you're not hooking the fish you need. Sometimes it can help

It does work for maws but only slightly. Without it I'll be hooking a maws every 2 to 2.5h. With the potion it's about 1 for 1 to 1.5h.

Very close to finish my vivarium plot project with 5 of each "gatherable". Will either need a ton of luck or extra help from PC players to catch those 5 starred Majiris....

you can go for ancient koi in Elderwood, it's a rare fish that spawn fairly frequently, especially in the bottom right of the map. So you don't "waste" a lot of worms on non rare ones. If you fish during the day there's only 1 other fish you can catch so chances are always 50/50 to get a rare fish on each cast.

I know some math head is gonna pop and say that actually it's not "always 50/50" . But you get the idea lol

I always find it funny that the lake shark (uncommon) bites way more frequently than the piksii (common) lol. I always get like 55-60% lake sharks against 35-40% of piksii floatfishes. And then 5-10% of eelero eels and 0-1% maws lol

I also NEVER get any Majiri o War, I hooked A SINGLE ONE, ever, in 4 months of playing. And reeled it in, and it was starred but never ever have I seen that fish again despite the ton of glow worms that I sunk in EW saltwaters at its times of the day while fishing for maws.

In fishing uncommon usually is harder than rare lol, but I feel it's probably only for bubbles since I get a lot of uncommon while getting "normal" fish for dailies. Elderwood maybe reversig that for some reason, it's hard to balance that because for some fish you have considerably less spots than others so they might only "feel" harder to catch.

As for bugs, don't get me started (because it's the wrong thread). But I also need some cerulean cicadas and it was easier getting 5 starred gossamer moths than those damn cicadas. Also easier to find spitfire ones, that are also "rare" but pop on demand lol. but again.. unfair comparaison cuz you can't "buzzy jar" the uncommon so of course they feel "harder" to find.

Are stormrays just an RNG thing? I’ve taken at least 5 trips now between the normal times, with the correct bait, and had zero luck. I’ve also been fishing in Proudhorn Pass for the most part. I also tried around Thorny Thicket.

Hey, any tips for making glow worms, I just can't seem to make enough

Participate in a bean burger party and throw them into your glow worm makers. Those parties have easy ingredient roles (like garlic, onion, tomato, wheat) and no ingredient roles (mixing, baking) so a newer player can participate easily. The bean burgers will produce between 5 and 7 worms per burger I think (unstarred versus starred), and you'll have a nice stash of glow worms. 30x starred burgers can make up to 210 glow worms.

Also grilled fish is a good option if you have extra fishies lying around and need to use them.

here have some tips from someone who loves fishing!!

• I highly recommend fishing on elderwood using glow worms since is the site which gives more exp!
• always fish in the bubbles zones, I noticed starred fish gives more exp than normal ones
• also catching a "perfect" (catching without losing hp in the bar) gives you extra exp
• for zones in elderwood any works but I really prefer fishing on H8 and all that water zone around
• lake sharks can be hard to fish at first but they give a decent amount of money/exp, You can practice/learn its pattern without pulling the rod in, I don't know how to explain but you can just fish without dragging the fish, as long as your bar doesn't lose life, the fish can remain uncaught indefinitely, this helps for pattern practice and also a way to recover slowly the hp bar!
• I recommend using the upgrade that increases the size of your fishing area (the circular area), this helps A LOT in catching fish

I tend to play 1 hour daily and sometimes I dedicate that session just fishing the entire hour and in that hour I almost always level up one level

oof, i just finished a long mining session and was gonna log off, but would love some help another time. I'm trying to get my first starred emerald. I've mined a lot of copper and so far nothing. So a couple days ago I decided to start keeping count, and so far... 2300 copper, 260 silver and 12 normal emeralds... but no starred ones 😭

and i know that in the past i must have mined about 3000 copper ore just trying to get it too but i've decided not to think about that and just focus on the current copper i'm keeping count of

It's not locked behind the bundle, no. You can catch it any time, using glow worms, in Kilima's and Bahari's caves and the underground. However, if you want to complete that bundle you will need to use an hypnotic moray, maybe that's where the confusion is coming from?

In addition, fish have different movement patterns. For the Eleroo eel, imagine that the center of its movement area is where you cast your bobber. From there, the eel will either go to the far left or far right of the area and then proceed to bounce between that side and the center. Pike or Bass is my guess if its a fish we already have in game. We already have one catfish plush and its a very different shape. And the bullhead i would guess would also be a very different shape. This plush has a longer lower jaw which I feel is more distinctive.

I also feel like there's a good chance that this is a new plush for a new fish in the new zone! So likely a fish we dont have in the game yet!

infected fish are the purple spots in the water that show up all over EW. If one disappears, move and find another (I find the dock/bog shore usually has multiple). Lures to fish in those spots can be crafted.

The Inyrevn Mermaid can be fished with glowworms from these freshwater rivers and ponds (supposedly any time of day). I have the best luck at night from that one pond smack dab in the middle of the map between all the caves.

Np. Also for catching the mermaid, if you can buy them from Einar, I recommend getting an attachment like the safe zone size booster (fisherman's brew does the same). And there's that fishing potion can get in town hall from the book that can help if you're having trouble hooking one at all.

Additionally, according to the wiki, eating sushi boosts rod health, fish stew boosts safe zone speed, sashimi boosts recovery rate, and trout dinner decreases bite time. The same type of boost doesn't stack, but you can have multiple at once.

Starred fish only come from the bubbles (not infected bubbles on elderwood though) They guarantee a star but whether it's common, uncommon, rare or epic, that's just purely random.

Not sure if I understand your question right, but you can only get starred infected fish as you can only get infected fish from hotspots, which is where starred fish spawn. So just fish in the hotspots with the purple oozey effect on them and you'll get them

In addition to what Frogga said, just in case you're not aware - what you're looking for is the Eleroo Eel, there is no fish actually called Elder Eel in the game and the quest accepts the Eleroo one instead. You need to fish with glow worms, in the elderwood saltwater area, during the evening, night or morning.

The bubbles mean you'll catch a starred fish, what that fish is in rarity is completely random. The darker bubbles on elderwood give an infected fish, again the rarity is random.

As for proximity to the bubbles, right on the rim of the bubbles is where they stop...if you miss, just reel back in and cast again into the bubble. Hope this answers your question. 🙂

they have 2 jumping pateerns, long sideway jump and short high jump.

When I needed to catch a starred, I kid you not, I spent 5 irl weeks and burned through over 1k Glow Worms, I had many hooked and just couldn't reel it in.
I used all fishing buffs too, when I finally reeled one in, I went straight to Pavel Mines for the Void Ray and caught it in 7 casts.
Now, I can reel in the Unicorn Fish just by using Fisherman's Brew and Safe Zone Size Booster Hook.

Mossyfin and Palian beta are harder to tell apart because they are both a dark color but Angel fish are white so you can easily spot them. If you see green its a Mossyfin, if its white its an angel fish, You shouldn't get Palian Beta mixed up with the other 2 because that requires a regular worm where the other 2 need glow worms.

You don't need the tuning fork, but they're rare and hard to reel in. Bring boosters for your rod and food that gives fishing advantages, a lot of time and the correct bait. Good luck! It's unfortunately just RNG. (Unicorns are possible, I caught one already and hooked a few. 1-2 in-game days of constant fishing per fish for me, I'd say.)
