Has someone figured out the mechanics behind the fishing hotspot spawns?
I tried fishing with my friend on the same server in Bahari, and I was running around the rivers and fishing from all hotspots I could find, while he stayed inside Fortress and apparently was getting a lot of hotspots...
Is it likely that me running around and using hotspots all around the map has increased the spawn rate of hotspots inside the Fortress?

The Fortress has the best Bahari River fishing hotspots if you are trying to get starred fish that only appear at dawn or dusk. Running around to the rivers outside there you'd never have enough time to succeed without spending literally real-life days at it, trying to get those fish.

If it's the reeling in part you're struggling with, are you using buffs? My go-tos for fishing are fish stew, trout dinner, sashimi, fisherman's brew, and the minor rod health booster hook, because those can all be crafted pretty easily (though I run out of trout sometimes). There are other hooks that do things though that you can buy from Einar.

As someone who works in games, writing tutorials to appear in-game takes time. And retroactively implementing tutorials after they should have gone in to the game takes even more time, time which might be allocated to make new quests...

Keep the focus bar up, have food on hand that's got the greatest amount of focus points available, and definitely have go-to places that you know nodes spawn. Also helps to increase your focus bonus at the shrines. With Bahari Bay, I try to frequent the mines and around Hideaway Bluffs, even nearby Hodari and Najuma's place. For Kilima, try the open meadows and around Einar's cave, I tend to have some luck around there. As for the Elderwoods, it's honestly hit or miss. I got zero star stones from there today and only got one yesterday.

You can mine on any map. All you need to do is get starstones. The game automatically counts the ones you collect. After you get them, you can keep or sell.

yes, Elderwood freshwater with glow worms. they're epic so don't appear very often and they're hard to catch so I suggest using booster. there's sashimi and sushi, Fisher's brew and special hooks you can buy from Einar. you probably had one hooked and lost it because it's very hard to catch

They are using a third party application that tells them what fish they are getting. Some do it for plushies, some do it for rare fish. Some use it because they are lazy and some use it because they have a job.

Yeah, you might notice it because it reduces your characters speed, or at least it used to. I think it is bugged and doesnt reduce the speed like it should

when you fish, you can kinda tell to a degree what fish youre gonna get. if you have the tracker up and set to that location and only what is available to catch atm, you can differentiate between some fish at any given time

like, if youre in the docks searching for maws, you can see when it isnt a shark and just not reel it in, wait until its done with the first jumping animation, dont hook it, then reel it in and recast to "reset" it

the sharks i havent learned to tell ahead of time like that, but you can tell once youve got it hooked by the belly color. floatfish by their colors, and others by size. same with other locations. most the time i can figure out if what im about to hook is something i want to hook or if i should let it go to avoid using the worm

i also love fishing tho, so i feel like i have way more time on my hands to have learned the shapes and silhouettes of the fish lmao

Depends on if you're trying for starred or regular

If you want starred, id recommend popping a tuning fork and running along to get them. If not, yeah just camp out. Either way, i would recommend trying out the fishing potion from the shop and server hopping every 30 or so minutes to refresh your chances

What would you recommend using to help in catching the lake shark? Because I'm trying to get it, and have had it fail repeatedly because of how much it's jumping around

Make sure you let go of the reel when its jumping, but after a certain amount of time for me at least, it ends up jusg being second nature tbh

You can watch videos of people catching it to learn its patterns if that would help

When I began trying for those my preferences were, the size booster hook from Einar's Guild Shop, and food boosters such as Sushi for Rod Health.
It also helps if you pause while reeling it in if it goes outside of the green brackets, then once you have adjusted back in, start reeling again.

Then once you have learned its pattern you won't need anything.

The size booster hook will give you a larger green bracket zone, a bit more than the Fishermans Brew will.

And the Sushi and or Sashimi will give rod health making it not as quick to fall off the line.

Stop reeling, but do your best to make sure you keep them within your circle! When they’re back in the water you can continue reeling them in, keeping them in the circle prevents you losing health!

Yes! You can get a party bonus randomly every now and then which gives you 2 of whatever fish you caught. The bonuses add up fast so I always prefer to party up for fishing (or foraging, or hunting, or anything really lmao)

But your party member(s) need to be close to you in proximity for the bonus to have a chance at happening

There's no one "hot spot" for ores. You can use an ore compass to help track rare ores if you are having trouble finding them

A few infected fish are the few fish I have left for Elderwood, and I usually just cast a line out when I see an infected spot in a time/place of a fish I still need, amidst doing other stuff. If you still have really difficult fish left to catch, like mermaid, you might lose them without buffs. But it works for easier fish.

I got my hypnotic moray in the Underground. They're the most common 'rare' fish that I personally find when fishing there. There are usually other people fishing there too, so you'll get a nice XP boost

Also if you have enough fishing guild medals you can buy the lantern bobber which personally helps me a lot with fishing (can't really see the bobber without it)

I also just caught a hypnotic moray while fishing there. But afaik you don't get an XP boost being near people, just a boost to how quickly you hook a fish after casting. But that does mean you can catch more fish in less time which equals more XP, not sure if that's what you meant.

I usually run major hook time booster and brew and it makes fishing everything fine enough, but if u don't feel like ur good at it you could use rod recovery or safe zone size booster. I used to use the safe zone size booster when I just started playing cause I wasn't yet used to the fishing patterns

It helps that they're only 5 medals so if ur low level (10 at least to buy them) they don't eat away at ur medals much

Also, if you find yourself running low on glow worms, you can only reel in the things you specifically want. If it jumps and it's not what you want, don't catch it right away, wait until it scurries off, and then recast that way you're not wasting glow worms when you're low

For keeping it on the line, I've personally used food (Fisherman's Brew) and Einar's Safe Zone Size Booster until I learned how to catch sharks. Their patterns are predictable, so once you've learned them, it becomes less difficult to keep track of them -- and Maws has the same pattern as regular sharks, catching-wise. That being said, I still prefer fishing for them with Fisherman's Brew just to be safe, but learning the pattern has helped a lot

Cuz I've just been fishing behind the inn with regular worms, turning away everything that isn't a chest and like, that's been my best so far but I've filled 4 almost 5 whole rows only to gain maybe 1 or 2 pieces. I'm so tired of this rng based achievement.

I'm down to the Armchair, Bed, Cookware, Large Planter and Pergola and I've definitely easily been through hundreds of waterlogged chests

I've tried looking online and researching what I can do or use to increase my chances of getting these and specific pieces but every piece of information I find is either outdated or irrelevant. I just want to be done.

At this point tbh it's mostly just a mental game and how well you can persist through increasingly low chances of getting something you need out of the chests.

Loot boxes can be rough that way, and in this case, you have a pool of 68 items, and the pool doesn't shrink as you collect things. So at first it's 100% chance (68/68) of getting something you don't have. By the time you've collected half the items, it's 50%, and now it's all the way down to a ~7% chance of getting something you need. That last item can hang on for a very, very long time.

I tend to suggest that folks not TRY to grind it out, and especially that they don't open boxes as they go, same as when folks are trying for the shiny pebble from oysters.

(I tend to send all my chests (and fish lol) home via overflow and open them all together later, when they can go right in my storage and don't sit there in my bags reminding me how long I've been at it.)

My thought on it is to give yourself the opportunity to catch chests, but don't make "get an item you need" your primary goal. Instead, fish what you're going to fish anyway, and catch chests when you get them (or take a break, if you're really burnt out on it right now, which is SO fair.)

I have researched and tried so many different methods. I can confirm for myself especially that between 6pm and 2am there were several nights where I could catch 4-5 chests in one night, multiple nights in a row.

But I've also had the same luck of catching the same amount, during 5am and 8am in the same exact spot. While also having the experience of only earning 1 throughout a whole day in game of simply just fishing.

The inconsistency of when and where you will get the chests, on top of the tiny percentage of it having a specific piece is what is killing me.

I really do appreciate every person that's shared information to me specifically, as well as people on forums that have shared what helped them. I unfortunately just don't have the patience right now

Make sure you’re fishing at one of the lakes in Kilima or you can fish at the Fairgrounds since the Maji Market is currently active (some people say that it increases your chances of spawning rare fish, but I cannot confirm this) using glow worms. It’s strictly RNG if it chooses to spawn, so there’s no way to guarantee it. If you’re able to get it to spawn but having difficulty actually catching, let me know and I can send a list of resources you can use to help make it easier!

I can’t find any reports on it increasing plushies and genuinely didnt notice in increase in rare fish but I’ll say anecdotally, it got me an insane amount of plushies 😭😂 I don’t even collect them but overall ended up with a ton— notably, 12 river shark fin plushes, 3 maws plushes, and 4 toadstool floatfish plushes. Might as well call it the plushes fortune LMAO (this was six hours of almost nonstop fishing though)

I found I had extra Kilima coins so I bought a couple of potions. I took one. In that time, I got 5 river shark fin plushes, 3 giant shark fin plushes ("legendary"), 3 Maws plushes ("legendary"), 1 starred will-o-wisp rockhopper, and 2 river shark plushes. Half way through, I left to repair my rod, and cook more stew and brew, and pick up more hooks. I did not hook a maws. I'm fishing for a starred one for display. 🙁

I was also not expecting the potion to last... 3 hours? I feel like they should decrease the duration of the potion and increase the effect, so you get an even higher probability, but it lasts for ?half an hour

The thing that super annoys me about fishing in Elderwood, is in the dock general area, where there are pools you can't cast into. Even when I have a blue --- all the way into the pool, I get a "you must cast further out into deeper water" message thing. Those pools are just sitting there, taunting me.
