yes, this is why there are palium farming parties. I've stayed to the end of several, and you can watch the spawn rate decrease as people leave.

It can be tricky hehe! But yes stop reeling when they jump, but still move your mouse to keep the bobber inside the parentheses. You can actually stop reeling any time with any fish, and just keep the bobber inside the parentheses, if you need to take a moment before reeling again :)

Only issue with pausing for too long just keeping the bobber without reeling is that if you aren't as fast as the fish, it'll break quickly and you lose the fish and have wasted time. Otherwise yeah, there's no actual timer or anything.

My favorite part is that you can scout fish without wasting worms.
Let it bite and escape once.
If it's not the one you want, let it go, pull rod back out and cast again, otherwise just wait for it to bite another time.

For me it was an Emerald that took forever. It's just RNG, so it could be soon, or could be a while from now. ;w; Unfortunately Rubies are only from Palium, so it's a little less abundant to farm for.

though personally i'm not really a fan of camping. it's too boring for me, and the presence of campers means not being able to casually mine palium along a route from whatever spot campers are in, since it's gonna get mined as soon as it spawns.

As someone who enjoys camping 10-20 mins at a time, I hate being on servers without anyone else camping pal. The spawn rates get so low there isn't any pal to grab. I don't think occasional pal miners realize how much campers improve the spawn rates on the rest of the map.

Hi! I'm definitely not a fishing expert, but there are things like food you can eat which will give you different buffs for fishing (I think sushi? I don't have the recipe yet though), and fisherman's brew drink you can craft, fishing bobbers (I don't have any yet myself), as well as standing near someone else when fishing to get a group buff. My bug is a little different and it's random. I see the bobber pop, I click the mouse button but nothing happens and the fish swims away. I can wait for another cycle and try again and it'll work and I'll still get a gold star fish if it's a bubble pool. This 'bug' happens with or without the bubble pool, worm type (even no worm) makes no difference as far as I can tell.

so idk if this has been found but i'm sure everyone knows of the 'ghost fish' bug where when you fish at a node sometimes you'll catch and it just reels the rod back in with nothing. some of you probably know of the fix where you can walk away and come back to the node too and try fish there again, but i've noticed something which idk if it's been talked about but if you have a fishing bobber skin (i use the pyroflow bobber) and when you take out your rod, it shows as the default bobber skin for that rod, every time i fish when that default bobber skin the ghost fish bug happens, but if i keep swapping my tools until my actual skinned bobber shows, i don't get the bug and i fish the star node successfully. just thought if this wasn't known i should put this out there

I cought it in the pond at the mirror pond ruins with glow worms. did you check, if you use correct bait? it may take more trys. maybe try to cheese the game a little bit by not reeling in the fish if you see its not the one youre looking for. if you let the fish escape before trying to catch it, you dont loose your bait and dont waste as much time. make sure to recast your rod after the fish escaped since that esures you hook a different fish next time

sorry if that explanation was a little complicated, I´m not a native speaker. there are youtube tutorials on this techinique tho, maybe that could clear confusion

you got a ~2% chance per cast to get the giant goldfish - so it could take lots of glow worms till you finally get it
but I hope that your RNG will be nice to you and that you'll get it soon

as well as not hooking wrong fish to save time (what PhoenixQuinn suggested), you can also save time by eating Trout Dinner, which shortens how long it takes for a fish to bite. you need to be at friendship level 3 with Einar to get the recipe.

there's also a hook you can buy from the fishing guild store that decreases hook time, but those hooks cost medals (which you might want to save for the cooler items in the store).

there's no rng for star quality fish, no. it's garaunteed from a bubble spot (except not really, because you can get a waterlogged chest instead), and that's the only way to get them.

Otherwise to save worms you could just not catch the more common fish then recast

it's been a week since I've seen a star node in bahari coast, man. Did they lie about increasing them in the patch notes lmao they just don't respawn

Last time I wanted to fish for the star unicorn I AFKed at the bubble spot spawn for 30 mins and nothing appeared, now I server hopped 4 times to an empty coast

there is a limit to the number of nodes that can spawn at a time. With bahari coast, nodes on the S part are out of the way and often stay there since ppl don't go there, try those

right after the patch, i joined a pal in a fresh server to test out the bubble respawn times at BB coast, since nobody was fishing there yet so all the nodes were untouched. tbh we didn't feel like there was much of a difference between pre and post respawn-rate-increase patch.

Unsure where Feedback/Questions would go for Mining, but just a new comer experience. Been noticing that showing up a bit late to some of the more rare mining nodes means I miss out on rewards for mining them. Alot of the time I have been following online visual guides of the routes to go, but someone was already there mining them so they are on respawn. For me it's often been for Pallium nodes, but I have concerns for the future when the game gets bigger and we have more players, that it might mean competing for nodes making mining very difficult. Competition doesnt feel quite as cozy for me when it comes to the cozy vibe of the game. Has S6 commented on any plans or solutions to prevent this from happening?

There's a max of 30 people on each "server", so even if there are more players in the future, there won't be more competition.

A little communication goes a long way. use the nearby channel to say that you want to join the palium camp and people are likely to slow down for you to join.

Its actually really hard to tell if someone is interested in mining palium in some of the locations, and slowing down decreases the spawn rate for palium across the map. But if there's a good spawn rate, missing one round of palium nodes won't matter, because it will spawn again in a minute or two.

based on my testing the amount of exp per fish is based on the value of the fish.
so yes fishing with glow worms will give you more exp.
if you're purely fishing for levels I'd suggest you to fish in ponds with glow worms.
all the pond fish (even the Giant Goldfish) are fairly easy to reel in with a perfect catch (+20% exp) and both common fish (Scarlet Koi & Mottled Gobi) have a value of 85g (which is the highest value for common glow worm fish)

Honestly, I find the other gems that weren't nerfed so much more that I don't think it'll be that much of a loss of income. All they really did was reduce the fluctuation in income/time by mainly making the ruby less crazy. It's still more profitable than most other professions given you don't have to put any money into it (worms, seeds, fertilizer, etc) and the gems double as mega gifts for villagers regardless of their weekly wants.

I just got EXTREMELY lucky with the long nosed unicorn fish and the void ray!

I tried to catch the long nosed unicorn fish about 3 times before this, but pretty much unprepared and I had only one on my hook once before but lost it. I never specifically tried to catch the void ray, because I was just dreading that lol. An hour or so ago I decided I'd try for both!

I brought with me:
400 glow worms (bought 160 of them from Einar with medals, the rest I already did have)
10 major safe zone size hooks (bought them from Einar with medals)
11 fish stew for minor safe zone speed
12 sushi for major rod health boost

I put all my arrows and bombs in my storage, so I wouldn't get tempted to hunt/catch rare creatures and insects + turned on "Eat when Full" in settings.

I equipped the hook and made my way over to Coral Shores. As soon as the clock hit 6am I ate fish stew and sushi and started fishing.

After 6 black sea bass and 6 yellowfin tuna, THE UNICORN FISH WAS ALREADY ON MY HOOK AND I CAUGHT IT!

I teleported to Pulsewater and went to Pavel mines. My hook still had some health left. Ate another fish stew and sushi and started fishing again.

..... After 1 stonefish, 1 Star stonefish, 2 blobfish and 1 hypnotic moray, I ALSO CAUGHT THE VOID RAY WTF. Now I got both vaults completed! ^^

With only 19 glow worms less and 9 hooks, 9 fish stew and 10 sushi left, I'm good to focus on completing Fish Collector and Master Fish Collector

I had such lag when other players were around, I lost a lot of fish this way (not only Unicorns or Ancient Fish, but regular fish as well, even using boosts). My internet speed isn't well 😦 I didn't have any problems with catching starred Unicorn when no one was around.

I laughed that in such a "cozy" game I tend to have murderous thoughts about other players when I was fishing for my collection 😅

has anyone found a new profitable way to get money?

its taking me around 5x times more time to get the same amount of money from mining (longer node spawn time, starstone price decrease, no increase in drop rate of starstones)

the game is about grinding pretty much and i feel like the harsh change just made it a grind nightmare....

i think all nodes of one type have min and max respawn times. They always respawn after at most max, but respawn earlier if number of nodes gets low. This would explain why last patch lowered respawn for palium to like 1-2min (everyone was farming it) and why now it's more (less ppl farm it).

I found one online map that showed two spawn points near the eastern pier on Crystal Lake (the lake Einar fishes on the northern edge of). Eventually got my latest midnight paddlefish on the western side of it, tho.

It varies a lot based on how many people are mining palium at the moment. If you are on a low population server (5 or less players) it will be pretty slow.

And its definitely been slower since the update, because people stopped mining and started hunting muujin instead.

I know this feeling very well 🥺 After I lost 2 starred unicorns one day I started using Major Safe Zone Size Booster (and of course also Fisherman's Brew, Fish Stew, Sashimi, and sometimes Trout Dinner). If you don't need to catch starred one and need it only for Bundle, food should be enough, but Fisherman's Brew is must have.

best you can do is try to increase how fast you cycle through fish. some general tips for that:

• make use of hook time boosts to make fish bite faster (trout dinner, a hook time fishing attachment from the fishing guild store, and the fishing with friends buff do this)
• don't catch a fish if it's not the one you're looking for. just let it swim away and recast your rod. it's faster than going through the catch minigame. (dont leave your rod in the water or you'll keep getting the same fish over and over)

Rates work better when more people are mining those spots

I suggest going to pavel mines from the top entrance
Jumping down each lower area breaking the rocks
Then go out the exit with the water geyser, riding it and gliding towards the top entrance again
And repeating that process

stock up on food for full focus. if you can make sushi, fish stew, and/or the fishermans brew do those. they're helpful. make some rod health boosters if you can as well. if you don't have the worm farm, that's helpful for keeping well stocked on worms. i have 2 glow worm farms and 1 regular worm farm.
it also helps to ask in chat if anyone else is fishing bc if you fish near someone else it helps spawn more of the fishing nodes for starred fish

i don't have an answer for that immediately at hand, but i think it's something that could be figured out. what we'd want to consider is if the extra XP we get from those hotspots makes up for the amount of XP we lose when we're not fishing (because we're running).
my guess is that the optimal XP farming method would be to find a hotspot-dense location and just fish there, hitting the hotspots when they come up. the bit of bahari river by statue gardens might be good for that? that spot can have at least 5 hotspots up at once.

After reading a bit of the fishing comments and people saying they have gone through SOOO many worms trying to get one specific thing, u actually don't need to use up all those worms! U technically only need one worm for the one thing u need! When a fish bites look to see if its the fish u want, if its not, let the fish get away and reel your rod back (DONT CATCH THE FISH IF ITS NOT THE ONE U WANT). This will make it so no worm was used! Then just cast your line out again and repeat the process over and over again until u got what u were looking for! :D

I suggest carrying up to 200 glow worms, and if you don't catch it on your first outing then cook the Black Sea Bass and Yellowfin Tuna you catch into Grilled Fish to feed into your glow worm farms. That'll yield 3 worms each for normal Grilled Fish, 5 worms for starred.

different fish will give you different amounts of xp when you catch them. the highest amounts of xp come from catching fish with glow worm bait, getting a perfect catch, and fishing from a hotspot.

hotspots are the bubbles on the water that give star fish

not sure if it's worth seeking them out for leveling, but definitely worth catching star fish when they appear near where you fish. If you are low level just make sure you use at least regular worms, exp difference compared to no bait is large

different types of bodies of water have different fish in them.
so like kilima rivers have different fish than kilima coast, but for kilima rivers it doesnt matter if you fish behind the inn or by the waterfalls where ashura fishes or wherever, they're all kilima river so they have the same fish.

fishing together buff does not increase chance, but it reduces hook time so you will catch more fish per h (same with trout dinner buff),
glow worm number is based on value, formula:
glow worm = value/50 [rounded; min 1; midpoint rounded down]
so the more expensive item, the more glow worms you get. If you do cake parties you can try using star apple cake, but unless you want a lot of worms fast, it's easier to just put meat or mushroom from zeki for a single worm and use multiple worm farms

Since my achievements are blacked out and restart with every log in, should I even go on fishing for the ancient fish? I have one non- star and I am fishing for the past weeks in hopes to catch the starred one but i don't even see an ancient.

It's generally a visual bug for most people. Mine was, I have the achievement bug and did complete the fish and bug achievements and got the rewards. I kept track of what I caught by placing the gold star fish and bugs on a secondary plot so I could see what I had and it didn't take up inventory space.

you could get hook time boosts (fishing together or trout dinner) to speed things up, or use recasting trick (if you don't get the fish you want, wait for it to run away, reel in and recast; it's slightly faster and you don't use up the worm)

It is intended that star fish are only from hotspots

Rare and uncommon fish can be caught regardless but placeable star quality fish are hotspot only unless the game borks

That way the effort feels more rewarding than just a bit more exp.

LIke, you have "Irresistible Lure" -Increases odds of rarer fish biting, but you don't get any bonuses to fishing.
Or you could have "Irresponsible Lure" -increases odds of catching the fish, but doesn't affect the rarity. XD

i think that app is a little confusing, because, at least where fishing is concerned, "midday" and "midnight" don't exist.

as in, for fishing, the game only checks for morning, day, evening, and night. so if it's midday then you can catch day fish, and if it's midnight then you can catch night fish.

sooo i believe it's 3am - 6am for morning, and 6pm to 9pm for evening? but you can use the in-game clock as a visual, since it has those little arrow things on the UI breaking up the morning/day/evening/night sections

The nerf would be better descirbed as turning all the palium spawn points into iron spawn points. It's all random, with a slow static spawn rate now.

I managed to get the star bug. the fish is in ||a temple on the backside of the main island. Once you've completed the main quest, the door is open. Around the islands you can find coloured eggs near a symbol. you shoot arrows on the braziers to solve the puzzle, it'll give you golden fish as reward||

For every person hitting all the palium rocks there is an opposite player who has to sort thru all of the iron spawns

The gamble system doesn't work and the continuous nerfing of gemstones means we hit the flow tree problem again

I only joined november, so the only thing familiar to me were palium routes and mines... based on that, i can say this: Before, I saw like 5-7 palium nodes in the wild each time I visited bahari, just passing by. If I wanted to actively farm it with buddies, and do the route, we'd get a LOT.

I don't know, I'm returning from September just a week or so ago and was lucky I got to get starstones pre-second round of nerfs and a good few hours of getting a decent (~80) palium bars extra after the recent quest required a bunch of them for furnite ¯_(ツ)_/¯

It (before the last couple of changes to pal) wasn't as bad as what you're describing now. I'd do the palium loop and get into double digits of nodes through an hour of playing. Then they increased spawn rates and that was slightly more (not much though because people didn't often mine stone or seemed like). But now it sounds like it's way harder :(
