But also you use large quantities of ore to produce things, and you only use 1 or 2 bugs or fish at a time. If there were more.mining materials, you would need to keep a stockpile of all of them to be able to craft, unless they dramatically changed that system.

I'm up to 150 tries as well, no sushi yet. All attempts were in the pond behind the Daiyu farm. Given the reports of success so far (45, 60, 90), 150 is still in the "bad luck" range. The RNG deities are fickle. I am curious to hear if anyone has found it after something like 200 or 300 attempts. It's kind of hard to guess at what the distribution is with the reports so far.

There's a tuning fork that helps you find the bubble rings to get stared fish from.

And glow worm fish are more likely to be uncommon.

Just a lot of patience and persistent effort! I've got a big long-term fishing project I'm working on that I've been doing runs along the Kilima coast for, and this just naturally happened as a result.

My only actual tip for landing the more difficult fish is that when they get out of your target zone, your meter goes down slower if you aren't trying to reel. So you can save a little bit of meter that way if you can react quickly enough.

For the tougher ones like the Ancient Fish, I have found that Fisherman's Brew + Minor Health Rod Booster + Fish Stew make a tremendous difference. I've caught two starred ones using these buffs. Prior to using the buffs, I had lost 3 starred ones too. I hope this helps!

Gold ore is killing me. I thought I'd use the weekly to motivate myself to farm up 10 gold ore... yikes. I'm on my third game day and am not getting that 9th ore to complete the 10 (i got 1 silver from tiling the garden). The drop rate seems insanely low. Been running iron smelting nonstop which is at least something. But man going a full game day without a single gold drop is discouraging, going two is insane.

oh hmm, I dont know if lvl counts but it does feel for me that gold and silver drops more often the higher mining skill is
my lvl is 38 and I can get 2 silver from copper ore sometimes, for example

I have gotten 2 gold from a node at my level, it's just it's extremely inconsistent. I got 8 gold ore in my first game day after all trying this run, it's just 0 in the next two days. I know there are rumors that certain things are linked to level but it's hard to verify in some cases. I'm still running around right now hitting nodes. But now I am even questioning if there is gold ore in game because it feels like it never pops. Maybe bad luck but if so they need some bad luck protection because at some point it stops feeling good.

not sure we get any boost from level, when i did testing for silver/gold chance i got silver: 15% medium, 30% large; gold: 7.5% medium 15% large. That was around levels 36-47. Also large iron deposits feel more rare than copper (i had 2-1 ratio for copper, 4-1 for iron) so that might make it feel lower even further

also leveling mining is slow. I wish I could be level 38 but it'll take quite a while to get there as there is no real acceleration for it. I feel level 18 is actually high compared to my cooking level 68 which I got in way less time spent then mining.

I have so many trout dinners for fishing, along with the other food buffs. Only other bit of advice would be to use the same-value fish when making a particular recipe, so they stack. And they all last for 8 RL minutes, which equates to just over 3 hours game-time. 1 will get you through morning or evening, 2 for night, and 4 for day.

EDIT: Disclaimer - This is a purely speculative post based on no recorded evidence except my own observations as it relates to fishing and potential implementation of how the game decides what fish you hook at any given time. Just wanted to put this here in case anyone else has anecdotal evidence or it helps you be less frustrated while grinding fish.

This is purely speculation, but depending on how they implement the random element for fishing it's possible that the "chance" of hooking a particular fish could be clumped. For example, when I was going for the mutated angler, it took me 50 casts to get 1 and then I immediately got it again in a bubble spot on the next cast.

I've noticed this trend with some other fish where I'll catch a "clump" of uncommon/rare fish and then it'll go dry for a while. It's possible that the the randomness is based on time (typical for random number generators) and that the way it arrives at it's final selection causes a clumping based on a time value that stays around for a bit. So, for example, a particular minute of the hour may be tend towards rare fish for a particular fish group where you'll see an increased chance to get one.

From what I can tell from everyone's experiences, there's nothing causing you chance to go up as you fish (additive failure bias) and catch junk, but I've had more luck catching rarer fishing by spacing my fishing out instead of slogging through it in one continuous chunk of time which eliminates any potential "minute" or "hour" bias the random generator might have.

tl;dr - if you're getting frustrated fishing for hours on end for a rare+ fish, it may actually be better (mentally and for your catch chance) to do, say 10-20 casts at a time with 15-30 minute breaks in between at minimum and even waiting until the next IRL day at maximum to get around any random number generator biases. Also, just put on a show/podcast/album and relax. It's fishing, it's supposed to be relaxing.

I just run between the fishing hot spots when I'm in a mood. Then I get the dopamine rush of catching a starred fish and also not the dreary sameness of fishing in one spot for 10,000 years.

Random number generators are typically "seeded" once with a time-based value, like for a Palia server it might be once when the server shard/instance is started. With multiple events (resource spawns, animal spawns, fish hooked, lucky balls opened) as RNG consumers, any beneficial streaks you see should still be chalked up to randomness.

More than likely it's purely coincidence, but I've also heard of some random number generators causing similar issues based on how the seeding happens. More commonly I've heard of certain seed values/implementations actually being able to make rare things nearly impossible to get because of rounding errors. My main point is just that if you've been at it for a while, take a break and that way even if that is the issue it should resolve itself automatically after a period of time.

I do mushrooms normally, but will usually grab oyster meat while fishing in Bahari to supplement. I can usually get 20-30 oysters every fishing run. Depending on how much you play, you can keep worm farms running without buying anything but you have to diligently forage ever time you're out.

the surprising one to me is grilled brightshroom mushrooms. Also, you don't have to know the recipe yourself, just drop in on a cookng party with a basic ingredient, and you can walk away with hundreds of pies, cakes, etc. there's always a few in the lfg-parties channel.

I'm looking for information about fishing spots (bubbles) spawn rules. Anyone knows how it works? Is there a way to "farm" starred fish server wide, like you can do with flow trees or pallium?

From my understanding there are static spawn points for the pools (there's a map of them on one of the wikis) and each map can only have a certain number of pools at a time. So when one gets fished by anyone, another one will spawn in an empty location somewhere else on the map, but that new location is randomly selected.

In theory you could get enough people and spread them across a map so that everyone is watching a certain number of the spawn points and fishing them to keep new ones popping up, but that would require a lot of people to be highly coordinated and some people would likely get stuck with less spots than others leading to unfair distribution of pools.

Solo, your best bet is to just find the fastest path to look at the vast majority of possible points so you spend as little time walking as possible and get your running shoes on.

The town map would be the easiest to do either method on given it's smaller with more concentrated areas of water.

For my observation I think one bubble spawn each 5min and stays so long until someone fish in them. Then, after +/- 3min it dissapear. Thats is why some server have alot of bubbles (noone fish around) and some servers dont have any.

Generally if you run loops around kilima, you will get pretty consistent bubble spawns. That’s how I farm makeshift chests

I’m not entirely sure if this is accurate but I’ve noticed that different fishing spots have a higher percentage of certain fish. Like for example, the ancient fish has a higher percentage to be caught in front of the dock where Einar is. The midnight paddlefish has a higher chance to be caught on the east side of the lake. I’ll put it in the picture. Like i said, I don’t know for sure if this is accurate, I’m just going by my experience. Just go back and forth from the underground to change servers and go and see if that particular fishing spot is there. Let me know if anyone finds this helpful 😊

That’s good to know. I just wonder if they put percentages of fish that would be caught in each fishing spot. Like say an ancient would be easier to catch in one spot than another. Anyone else still having issues with the fishing nodes when using glow worms? I can't hook & catch fish, the line kicks back out of the water. If I let the fish hit & swim back down, fishing node visual disappears, I can sometimes catch when it comes back up again & hits the line again. Doesn't always work though. It takes twice as long to try & catch the fish. I don't see where they even acknowledge this is an issue anywhere. If I've missed it, would someone be so kind as to direct me to it. Thanks!

It's only during the day (not morning, not evening according to the wiki). I recommend fishing around the lighthouse. there are usually hot spots you can dip your bobber into from time to time. I tend to run up and down the coast to look for them.

I hooked one yesterday but failed to pull it in and I just kind of stared at the screen in surprise.

Anybody else primarily a weekend player and find it difficult to get iron/copper (iron especially)? If I pop in the game on a weekday, then no issue. If my week is busy and don’t make it on til weekend the struggle is real! I feel like the hunt for copper and iron is just painful. Wish the respawn rate for certain materials were higher on weekends. Or maybe it is just my luck to land in the server with 20 other people all going after the same thing. Idk.

A lot of people won't clear the stone so that could be the problem. Stone has to be cleared so the other metals can spawn more easily

Yes it's very challenging, especially the Stormray cause the window when it appears is small. I'd suggest sticking to the flooded fortress and server hopping, not worth running along Tamala's river for like 3 nodes spread really far from each other

You can double dip in nodes, so you can technically get two star fish in one. You need to run about 200 meters away from the node. Best to do it with nodes that haven't been touched. Once you dip into one, there's a time limit on it.

The City Chic desk lamps give a lot of light and have a very narrow profile - one 'square' deep on the placement grid. It's a good lighting source if you put it behind your tanks and just move them out a hair from the walls/wherever.

sapphire is from iron. I also did some testing and it seems drop rates are 20% for uncommon (quartz and garnet), 5% for rare (onyx, citrine, aquamarine), 2% for epic (jasper). Got 3 amethyst on a sample of 21 (too small yet) so this one might have bigger chance. Only got 1 sapphire and emerald so hard to say with those two as well, but those 2 are definitely more rare than jasper. Also it seems like all node sizes have same drop chance (unlike silver/gold where small have 0, and medium have half that of large). EDIT: it seems size does matter after all

Personally when I’ve attended mining parties, I’m usually in an area by myself and when others come around I mine with them because it’s a resource that everyone needs. They don’t have to ask permission to mine. That’s kinda dumb.

it's the value of gems that are making people camp the spawns, Like I don't mind if people just mine and go, but just wait if you see someone nearby. Pal spawns fast enough that it's not hard to get, but if I'm on a server that has multiple people just standing around and camping pal spawns I switch servers.

Because the spawn camping pal, is just not fun. I want to be moving around and be doing other things as I get pal.

But it can be hard to be on the move while getting the stuff, if there's people camping the spawns and it's always gone by the time you get there.

It's going to depend how long it took to mine that much though. If it was 20 mins then yeah that's a lot in a short time. But if it was 6hrs then it's a different story. I mined for about an hour and got barely anything, for comparison.

I think it's good for all of us to have a way to make money that feels rewarding for the time we spend on it. And maybe now I can afford more than 1 room for my house lol!

The truth is... I was only there for like 3 or 4 hours.

People make a mistake... go through all the mines and miss the respawn. It is best to stay in one place and wait for it to appear again. Because between going and coming from one mine to another, you lose respawn and time. (it's better to stay in one place and wait for him to respawn, that's the main thing)

Regarding camping the nodes... That would take the fun out of playing, for me. Especially if it's for hours and hours. I like running around for variety of scenery :) (but because of palium respawn being faster now, I'd wait for at least one spawn before moving elsewhere :) )

I think that depends a lot on what you are going to do... In my case, those 84k are only with mining. You must add the money from the kitchen and the crop garden. (Which increases significantly). I also love to play, but there are times when I prefer to farm, and other times I prefer to play and explore the map.

it does not feel like they increased it, and it takes a long time to run the whole length of coast. I did a short loop after patch hoping it would be better but number of spots is still small. I did a server switch at 5pm while at the S end and was lucky enough to get 3 more spots and got star unicorn fish that time so fortunately i'm done with this spot.
I'd just server switch and run between that spot and the ones near lighthouse
