Hi 👋
I noticed just now
I see
Days to harvest: 6
Until seed
What is this?
hey kals in what are u tlaking about
Hi 😄 duhscape
If you don't use any fertilizer to speed things up, i'm pretty sure that means it'll take 6 in game days (or 6 irl hours) for the plant to be mature enough to harvest
Ohhhh ok 👍
Thank you

Growthticks till first harvest
i saw a cheatsheet a while ago of what to do with all crops for their best selling profit (from an everything farm to sell the extra stuff on harvest)
i know apples are best sold as jam. pretty sure peppers and tomatoes are best preserved but idk about everything else?
some things are best sold as seeds and some i think are better turned into fertilizer to further increase the other things
i just dont remember what everythings best process was
Hi friends, I think I recall seeing a list of the most valuable crop and what process to do to them somewhere but I stupidly forgot to save it, anyone able to be a hero?
can it be jarred jar it
potato bokchoi seed
some things are a tier though so with the increased stacksize of seeds it might be less work to just seed it to also insta have reseed seeds done to not sure if the crafter cna then be left alone longer
ok thank you
jsut went through and did the math. ignoring time this is the best money maker for each crop excluding cotton
--jar
carrot
onion
tomato
pepper
blueberry
apple
--seed
potato
wheat
rice
bok choy
beans
pumpkin
--either
corn
cabbage
gonna check based on time now though
U forgot to encalc the ratios of produce to seeds
Applesseed takes 10 appkes gor example
wait. apple was misplaced my bad. i had messed up and and thought i fixed it correct
apple is the only one i messed up
fun fact. apples are almost 5x more profitable per minute when turned into seeds and honestly for how long jam takes unless your an apple focused farm, selling seeds might be better then apple jam
this is how much gold per minute you make in each seed vs jar crop if i did my math correct
many things sell better as seeds when you consider the time it takes if your harvesting often
-carrot
1.555 seed
1.259 jar
-onion
1.666 seed
1.25 jar
-potato
0.952 seed
1.25 jar
-tomato
2.666 seed
1.259 jar
-pepper
1.7 seed
1.246 jar
-blueberry
2.765 seed
1.248 jar
-apple
4.929
1.263 jar
-bokchoy
.833 seed
1.25 jar
-bean
1.058 seed
1.242 jar
-corn
1.25 seed
1.25 jar
-cabbage
1.25 seed
1.25 jar
-wheat
1.142 seed
N/A jar
-rice
1.047 seed
N/A jar
-pumpkin
1.0 seed
N/a jar
that is also assuming you harvest enough to keep your preserve jars and seed makers full 24/7
apples will always want to be jarred, remember it takes 10 apples to get 1 seed while you get 1 to 1 jam. time really doesn't need to be a factor as the crafters run while you are offline, unlike the garden crops themselves
Apple preserves outperform seeds on a per tile basis. At the extreme end of playing 24/7 literally, seeds outperform preserves only if you have 9 harvest boosted trees and only 26 crafters used. Otherwise I agree with Sylva, Apples are a preserve crop.
Also, there's a lot of factors to a gold per minute besides just the money per crafter time.
I really hope there's a new best crop in this update besides Bok Choy
yes, but if you have a apple/harvest boost focused farm unless you have a lot of liscences with many jar crafters it takes
12.5 hours to make 960 with 10 jars
or 2.5 hours to make 700 gold using 10 apples
if you have enough machines and harvest slow then preserving apples is best
but if you dont and you have a backlog of apples then making seeds will be faster for slightly less profit
Yes, running the sim at 11 crafters, 81 tiles, harvest boosted, and not selling raw crops, apple seeds would have a good shot. This does however get into very specific situations that are hard to generally compare in a number to number basis.
if your goal is money and you don't have very many crafters, bok choy sold raw until seeder and seeding the bok choy will get you the best results on a simple level.
question, how did you get the 12.5 hours to make 960 with 10 jars. if you have 10 jars available to place down the apple jam only takes 1.25 hours to run 1 round of apples. so you would get the 960/1440 every 1.25 hours with 10 jars. now if you only have 1 jar down that makes sense, but most people would (should) have more
like i said. if you have the license to run many machines at once then it is better profit. but in a 1-1 those are th numbers. even if your running 10 seeders vs 10 preserve jars.
10 seeders will make 7000 in 2.5 hours while 10 preserve jars will make 9600 in 12.5 hours
if you dont have a backlog the jars will make you more money and are much better over time. but if your harvesting a lot and have a backlog of apples and the choice is to sell them raw or make seeds, the seeds will process fast and give large profits still.
i dont know if there is a limit on how many machine llicence you can have. but i do know it gets expensive fast. and for people who dont have very many like me right now its not a bad trade off when i only have 3 preserve jars and 3 seeders right now
after i upgrade my chests again i was going to get more licences though
1 seeder vs 10 preserve jars. the jar is better. but in your words. if you dont have the jars to place down it will take longer. and that time creates backlog that you cant do anything with. might as well spend that time making fast profit per minute
Yes, there is a limit of 30 crafters
Pumpkins and corn are both (slightly) better jarred, if you look at the starred values.
Unlocking extra crafter slots is very worthwhile to prioritise as it directly affects the amount of profit you can earn over time (not just from gardening either).
But considering you can have up to 30 crafters, the crafters keep processing while you are offline and most people don't play 24 hours a day, all comparisons of whether you want to go for profit per hour or overall profit will depend on how many growth ticks you get each day.
In your situation, yes, going for profit per hour is likely better, as 6 crafters is a tiny amount and you'll almost always have to sell some of your stuff raw if you play even just a couple of hours a day. And if there's a backlog, you just need to process and get as much money as fast as you can.
It would be nice to see, but I somewhat doubt it (unless we have another Beans situation where it wasn't intended to be so profitable when released).
Bok Choy already is fairly effort intensive, needing replanting every 3 days, and it generates a lot of profit. That seems to be its' balance. I'd be surprised if they skew that further.
I'm honestly hoping for a 2x2 with water retain (or weed block would be acceptable too) for making some nice lazy layouts
water retain and weed block both need new crops, they've fallen behind in number compared to harvest boosting crops
With horses potentially giving speed gro fertiliser, it might suggest that they're bringing a crop with the Speed Gro buff into the mix again.
It could be just because the person working on Ranching rewards didn't realise Speed Gro is buggy, but it could also mean that Speed Gro is going to be a thing again.
My money is on the former, but can see both happening
Hi everyone, Im kinda new and I just got the preserve jar recipe, what do you think I should preserve before selling to up its value or just sell as is? What are your tips please?
Anything beside potato bokchoi beans
And stuff that aint jarrable
Dont forget to make plenty of apple blueberry seeds though
This is fantastic intel! Here it is formatted.... love this type of info!
Thank you for that, though that's only most profitable per minute. For example making apple jam does give more a good bit more money over seeds. But takes around 5x the time for a roughly 40% increase
And that is what I am looking at, for a guy that wants to only logon a few times a day, which garden will be the best for income.... garden/seeds/preserves
In this msg I put the method for the highest sell price (though I didn't mark the actual price)
#🌱│gardening message
Then your not harvesting often and won't have a backlog. So having your machines run longer is more beneficial. And you would rather the first list. And making apple jam will benefit you more
The gold per minute list is only for if you have a backlog because your on a lot so your crops are constantly growing. Or if you don't have enough machines
I still dont have pumpkins or apples.... still midlevel although I do have 3 seed harvesters, 3 glow worm farms and 6 preservers going
so i am now in my 3rd crop setup trying to find a good plan... so confusing! lol
If your able. Could you please change the "most profitable" column to "fast profit" or something and make a 4th that gives the best overall (though maybe I'll go through and compare the overall prices and add times and everything) Maybe we can work together a bit later when I get home. I can give you all the numbers and you make a proper chart that looks nice.
Just compare everything. Like some of them are only a few gold off in price difference while the time saved is significant. So while it may be better one way it could be more profitable to do something else worth more
If you open to it we can do it in dms to not clutter this channel too much
something like that?
Does anyone have a good garden map for someone that is trying to make good profit without a lot of watering, weeding, fertilizing and not yet owning apple or pumpkin?
There are a few around, but depending on if we expand that list together and how far we go. I would be interested in checking out how much can be harvested over how many growth ticks with how much money. I have seen that bok choy is the best overall I think as it sells for most per item. Apples are the best because less work.
But I wonder if there's better values when really looked at. I may also look at layouts for everything as well
Since things like the bok choy grow fast and have a single harvest. While the apples take a while to grow and give a lot with multiple harvests they can be more passive
There's a chart similar to this here btw #🌱│gardening message
Also, there's a bunch of links to layouts here (I tend to recommend the Bullseye layout in the profit compilation post, especially if you don't have Apples. The 4 HB fert is optional) #🌱│gardening message
what is the Bullseye layout? Do you happen to have the layout or a link to it?\
That post has 2 links.
The second one (just after I speak about the Bullseye layout) leads to different layout posts. One of those layout posts is a compilation of profitable layouts (hence why I said profit compilation post).
I use that link as people might want to see the other layouts there
If that's still unclear, I can link it later
oh sorry, didn't realize those were links.... so using that second one....hmmmm
Oh. I was asking for something like that before which is why I started finding the values myself
I don't recall seeing you ask, but I only skimmed through the messages from when I was asleep.
And maybe whoever was here at the time wasn't aware, I can't speak for that
#🌱│gardening message
I was asking for a cheat sheet that showed what the best profits were for things
It wasn't you that responded but I was told to jar everything basically. And I knew that was wrong. So I made my own list and decided to dig deeper after I to gold per minute
And now I was thinking when I got home. To dig further into exactly how much money per process per minute. So if you have to choose. A backlog what's better to process. And what's better to sell raw
Which isn't on that sheet so I may still do that anyway
Yeah, that was 1am for me, so I was asleep.
To me, that's not you asking though, it's you saying that you saw a cheat sheet once.
Still, sorry for the misunderstanding.
You might like to check out the original Reddit post that chart was from and see if that has the info you need (there are 3 charts there from memory).
Follow the links (Bebop's post I linked to when reposting that image has the Reddit link)!
Yeah, I saw a cheat sheet and mentioned the apples. But I didn't know about the rest. I could have worded that better though
But essentially, if you're going to sell something raw, just prioritise what makes the most additional gold per minute via crafters, then the next best, etc
Anything left over, sell raw
(Good chance you know this, but if I ever have to reference back to this convo, it's useful to say everything)
Yes. That reddit post does have what I'm looking for but as different sheets. I'm interested in combining it all into one list. And making it simpler at the same time. I'll look at it better later and see if I want to try fixing it for people who just want to glance at it for a general process idea
It does exist though. So it depends on how I'm feeling and if I want to go through the effort
Honestly, we may be getting new crops in a few days. And updates could change processing numbers too.
I'd wait and see if anything changes tbh
Maybe
You'll get pumpkin and apple in like no time
That would be so cool
We might not. But there will be new stuff for the other skills, so reasonable to think Gardening could get something too. But, wait and see.
When will it be? June or July?
#📢│palia-news - we're getting a patch with a new area in 3 days
Ah, I thought it was way later on 😂
Can anyone help me with a garden layout to make money? I can use any type of crops, just tired of being poor in the game 🫠
I need help with a layout that does 100% water retain and 100% weed block
There is some layouts in the pinned messages. I tried one yesterday and omg it is amazing. You don't need to water it much at all and it is 100% weed block too.
Just looked at the pinned message layouts and it’s blowing my mind. lol game changer. Im still not sure if i should be selling or keeping things i grow? Or a bit of both. How much of each crop does everyone keep?
Personally I preserve tomatoes to feed my animals and to go feed other peoples animals, everything else I sell. Before that I used to get the starred apples blueberries for preserves and cakes. I keep about 50 ish starred of each just in case, and about 30 starred seeds. But now I'm considering transitioning in bean burgers so will keep all the beans. (cause you can also can them for ranching)
New to gardening, is this how you water crops?
Uhm wut how
how actually important is weed block? what happens when theres weeds. does it stop the growth tick?
at blooms ive noticed it stops you from waterign them. but i can water plants in my plot with weeds?
Weed on crop growthtick no grow unwater
9 weeds nothing grows due to bug not saving growthticks(long story short)
Hey guys; not new but just getting back into the groove. Im tryna make an efficient farm that includes the batterfly beans but i cant figure out a layout, does anyone have a farm layout with those in it? I dont have any sorta greenhouse literally just my basic plot and soil lol
I would consider holding off until redoing your layout until after the update in 2 days (unless you are hoping to stockpile a load of Canned Beans for food by logging in every tick between now and the servers go down in under 24 hours)
Reason for this is because there's a chance we might be getting new crops, or something else new for Gardening. Every other skill has already been shown to be getting something new afterall.
If you still want a new layout now, how many Bean crops would you be looking for?
mmm thats true, yeah iu'll hold off till then
if ur answer ot how much beans was yes i would also have something XD
i dont how many beans you get per stalk unfortunately but i need at least uh....15 beans?
You get 24 Batterfly Beans (36 if Harvest Boost is on the crop) over 4 harvests, the last being 12 growth ticks after planting.
You only need a single bean crop if you only need 15 Beans.
If your current layout has a Blueberry crop, just substitute the Beans for the Blueberry and everything will work the same
Anyone have a good basic afk money layout? I have 11 Seeders and 12 Glow Worm farms I kind of want to just keep running atm. Don't really care about the crops, just as long as I have to harvest/maintain minimally for the time being. Once I catch up in the story and leveling some stuff I'll try more attentive layouts xD
Gardening level?
Ok, and fertiliser? Want to use it or not?
Prefer not to, but not opposed haha
So, the laziest relevant option is a 4 Apple, 4 [Beans or Blueberries] layout where you just harvest those (other crops are there to buff them, they would need fertiliser if you wanted to harvest them all the time). It's a popular lazy layout. Will grab a link in a sec.
An alternative is to wait a bit, as servers will go down for the update in under a day and I'm half expecting new crops (which may change what I would recommend)
4 apple 5 blueberrys afk fertless is now also a thing thouh
Yeah I've got a bean layout right now I believe
Did*, I wiped when I logged back on xD
#🌱│gardening message is the 4/4
The 4/5 Duh is talking about... Do you have it saved, Duh? Or do I have to search?
At least Sylva's doesn't need fert on the Blueberries tbh (and is symmetrical)
Still, I do wonder if anything will change in 48 hours
I am woefully under stocked with blueberries and apples apparently
i was jsut looking at the farm mapper and was looking at making soem quick cash and i think it broke? adding a single cotton massively boosted multiplied my entire haul?
if i remove all the beans it stops multiplying. is it somehow showing that the beans and cotton are applying to everything?
u have to input ur lv in the calc thing
cotton bumps quality up from the neightboring crops if ur lower lv
that just makes it stronger since i get even more starred crops by default
even with nothign being boosted at all it multiplies the output by about 5. simply adding the cotton.
nothign being boosted yet my other crops increase. its not only neighboring crops its calculating the boost for somehow. it seems to be applying it farm wide, and it seems to be multiplying by more than the normal amount
actually putting them together boosts it slightly more on top
yeya becuz ur calcing raw value oputput not processewd value output?
having a single harvest boost and single quality increase not even touching the bokchoy makes me produce 5x more bokchoy? im gettign more everything with nothign touching
bruh check the amount of growthticks i thought u were comparing the coins per growthtick
for fair comparison sya u got a crop that lasts 5 days to fully be dfone and one that takes 6
it puts hte total growthticks to 30 as the smallest amount that both are fully done
oh. its because the beans take forever and its usign that to get the others? assumning i replant them
im dumb, sorry
well i mean beans and bokchoi apperently line up again in less growhtticks then beans bokchoi AND cotton
some least common denominator thing?
Main crop for profit without a lazy layout?
Major news , I got to level 10 gardening today! 👩🌾
Random thought, but it involves this chat.
Star Quality Flour
Like a flour mill would be cool to have in the game for that
Make windmills usefull
Without lazy layout, Bok Choy.
If you just plant full Bok Choy and use a load of Harvest Boost fertiliser on everything, that makes a lot of money. But it's a fair bit of effort - manual watering/weeding and you harvest/replant every 3 growth ticks (also good luck with your crafters keeping up)
is planting between plots still a lil wonky? i remember awhile back i was recommended to not do that so i want to check in if that still holds true
Today? Yes. Mostly just a visual bug, but sometimes fertiliser could disappear if placed on a 2x2/3x3 crop that crossed the border of more than one soil plot
Tomorrow, who knows!
okay! i thought so, i was planning out my farming plots and was curious for that sake. much appreciated, thank you!
np
Just saying, there's a possibility of new crops in the update (every other skill i getting something new, so Gardening might get something too. Whether that is a crop or not, who knows).
Would that impact your planning at all?
nah I expect new crops and can easily adjust my plot to account for them! I just gotta start growing to make food
i have zero ingredients for anythinggg lol!
I hope we get new crops! My eventual hope is to also get more space to grow crops. 9x9 just isn't big enough for my farming dreams XD
sameeee! i hope so too!

Rip to any new crops in the patch notes
canned beans: 127 focus 😥 ETA: ...at star quality. RIP power food
So no new crops?
no new crops, still no justice for lettuce
Fr, they dropped that by accident a long time ago, I thought they'd have released it officially by now
me too.
One thing to note is in the patch notes the fertilizer mentions growth booster fertilizer not speedy gro. Maybe they fixed it and made a new fertilizer. We will have to check if this was a typo in the patch notes or if it is a new thing. My inventory still has the Speedygro name
hey all, there was a table somewhere about whats profitable to sell either as a seed or as a preserve, im trying to find it but i cant ;;; anyone mind resharing it?
does anyone have the afk farming setup?
i had it saved but cleared my files idk whats meta rn
i have like 30 of those idk which one to send
My bet it's like when plushies get called the name they use in the config files rather than the final name.
So it probably is just SpeedyGro.
Which begs the question of is it no longer buggy?
Did gardening get anything in the patch btw? I'm sure they said every skill was getting new content somewhere
don't preserve bean, bok choy, potato; do either for cabbage, corn; sell star cotton; preserve rest
I hope that doesn't mean the apple tree buff will change
I like it being hb much more than when it was speedy grow
i literally booted up palia when the update went live just to check on the trees (then closed the system down). i haven't touched the game since ranching became available as a skill
Dang, that's a long time
I was feeding canned beans to my big animals as usual and realized it was not doing much..
The focus went down to 85 for regular
I just want to maximize... I don't mind watering and weeding... anyone have a good plan that uses 5 seed makers, 6 preserve jars and 3 glow worm farms?
can weeds grow on fully grown crops if I do not harvest them?
Off to make a new layout for beans, wheat, tomatoes.
this one fits me... keeps all my stuff running, a bit simplied, and less maintenance
thought you might be interested to see mine it's pretty dang low maintenance especially if you use the fertilizer to round everything off to 100% and its low effort replanting because it's a pretty simple pattern of rice, potato, carrot in every row that surrounds bb and apples
That’s what I’m trying to figure out too. I’m thinking about doing the beans on toast. Starred gives I think 335 focus.
yeah i thought of that too, but my garden layout was mainly focusing on beans/apples with only 1 rice so i'm low on wheat
but the beans on toast does sound good
i still would rather eat canned food for focus as i do really hate the cooking minigame
I just made a layout focusing on beans, wheat, and tomatoes. Witch one thing of apples and some cabbage. I’m gonna try this out for the bean toast.
The nice thing with the bean toast is there is no minigame
did the new ubdate gring any new crops?
None that have been found yet
yeah that's true, lmk if that layout works well for you, as my layout focuses on mainly apples for money and beans for focus, but now since it got changed, idk lol
@grave mural yeah and how are we gonna make money in palia 🥲... this not good
This is why I am looking at. My previous one was focusing beans and blueberries. I like one thing of apples because I use apples for lures a lot.
that's not bad all, but i use 4 apple trees lol, this is my current setup
Nice. My previous layout was this one. I used blueberries as my cash crop
oh not bad, i don't like focusing on the garden that much so i like a lazy setup so i can just do other things
Ahahahah I get that! I tried one with full water and weed retention but I found that I don’t mind pulling weeds just hate watering. Especially since I end up running home at least once a day.
yeah with this setup i literally just dump 40-50 weed blockers and water fert on the ones that need it and just let it be 😄
don't really want to be playing farm ville
Ahahahaha I get that! Truthfully half the time I forget about fertilizer. So I try not to add it to my layouts
that moment u cant harvest ur garden anymore cuz ur storage is full ur crafters are full and ur coin purse is full
with the bean nerf. what is the best low effort food? beans still feel up there. i feel like its either corn or cabbage now?
Have to get.back to optimizing my garden. Horses are expensive lol
anyone have any beginner layouts? im not at the point of playing with apples and beans just yet... want to give optimizing what i have a try
see above
really appreciate!!
I’m really struggling with the huge majority of my crops being star quality. I don’t want star quality because if I cook then every ingredient has to be star quality as I understand which is really annoying. My layout should only have measured star quality amounts but I’m getting 30 star bok and 7 non star, 13 star onions and 1 non star. Is it because I’m level 26 gardening? Help please.
- I should also say I’m not planting star quality seeds for anything
click allow star run out of starred forage u can then select unstarred foragable
litterly every single player doesnty get this and at this point it should be redesigned hwo the cooking works
Where do I click it? Thank you for helping

at the cooking stations its a checkbox need to do when starting recipe
Yes, it's because of your gardening level, which increases your base rate of star quality results. Also, the crops next to your pepper plant are getting the quality boost buff, which increases it further.
As DS said, if you check the "Use Starred" checkbox when starting the recipe, but have no available starred ingredients for something, it falls back to allowing you to use your unstarred ones.
You can force it to only use your unstarred ingredients by putting your starred ingredients in your lockbox (i.e., making them unavailable), or just using the starred ones then continuing with unstarred when they run out.
(Keep an eye out for ingredient variables like "any fish" or "any spice" -- they cover a wider range of items and you don't wanna be using your starred heat root and dari cloves to make focus food xD)
Thank you
Got some irl gardening to do 😍
Got French Peppermint, Chocolate Mint, Lemon Balm, Rosemary, Oregano, Sage, and Thyme 😋
Got herbs for cooking/tea and to keep Wasps away
Had a thought.
So, we all see we didn't get any new gardening things (yet). But then I'm doing the main quest and it specifically states that ||bananas|| went extinct some 800 years beforehand. And that, my friends, sounds like foreshadowing to me.
Then I had an amusing thought about how everyone looks at the humans and notices they seem to always be in a bit of state. Not knowing it's cause modern human food put either ||bananas|| and/or industrially processed caffeine in everything, so they aren't in a state, they're all just jonesing for a fix.
I spent a bit of time and brainpower on it, and came up with a garden layout that includes all plants (some on rotation) with full weed/water coverage. I wanted extra beans, blueberries, and pumpkins, too.
The open spaces are fully covered so any of the other crops (cotton, rice, wheat, corn) could go there.
(edit: This layout is meant for later-game farming, with starred seeds and no fertilizer)
I'm going to start using this layout as soon as my last one is done being harvested. Feel free to use if you wish.
is there like a profit v focus table for all the crops and preserves?
Bottom of the What to Eat sheet has the preserves listed
(conclusion: they're all comparatively terrible, about 2 focus per gold. The new campfire recipes are around 3-4 focus per gold eaten -- pending opportunity cost calculations, which are likely to be considerably worse)
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1qPbCKTJg8xYlR1Pw60ZkaXAERRkXaMC0r3UZZKLWQ_g/edit?gid=41849516#gid=41849516
Well I guess I'm growing potatoes and pumpkins 😭 rip my beans focus crop
New set up to make beans on toast. Not sure how well it will work.
I had no idea this was a thing omg
Which one? The website or beans on toast?
but what I did come here to show was the beginnings of my flowery, botanical elderwood-style plot - I'm growing AAAAAAAALL the flowers.
The website - I'm british, beans on toast is Michelin star scran
It’s a good site!
This is felt. It was my focus food too. I’m focusing on beans on toast now for my food. I like the campfire recipes because there are no steps. Just time taken
did anyone else accidentally sell the twisted tree seed like i did bc i thought it was a regular acorn 🥴
I see. Ill try doing that maybe see how it is.
If anyone has a good afk garden layout for Bean On Toast lemme know. K. Cause I really don't wanna cook and garden too much. So much to see.
Post recipe n il make one
Beans, tomato, wheat, butter.
I believe 1,1,3,1 is the number but don’t quote me
Il go make one then
Those are the correct numbers!!
3 wheat? 💀 but I guess it's okay cause most bean recipes need 3 beans I guess
I will see if I can make one too!!
It will work well because all those are best to sell in seed form too. So you can use some for money and some for food
were there any major changes made to gardening? i noticed there are no new crops but besides that?
Not really to gardening it’s self. Just to some focus amounts
right, i know about the canned bean nerf, i'll still be growing them though for the dishes. thanks. i love gardening
ok imma log on to check recipe and hten design layout for it
note to self for bean on toast campfire
1 bean
3wheat
1 tomato
(irrelevant for layouts 1 butter from store)
this one for bean on toast or u guys need one more dedicated?
I’m working on one more dedicated to what I want myself to but this is a good starting point.
Oh no, it looks like a regular acorn seed? I most probably sold it too then, I'll have to check when I'm back home from work
!support Send in a ticket to see if you can get it restored
Here's a link to the Player Support: http://support.palia.com/
Man. It’s difficult trying to find a layout I want to do. Especially since I try to keep things easy to memorize
What's the focus for Beans on Toast?
have apples always looked this weird? I have my settings on epic too.
i mean they've never looked like apples but rhats worce then what ive seen
nope but this is pretty awesome
I have a list of layouts that are 100% water retain/weedblock and contain all crops (except cotton). Some of those are symmetrical or close to it

Thank you. But it isnt that. I’m looking for items for the beans on toast. So wheat, beans, tomato. With maybe one apple
Here, I've modified 2 of my layouts so that all bushes are beans and most grains are wheat instead of rice. Both have 1 apple tree as well, and I only included the minimum amount of types of crops required to keep water and weedblock at 100%
Do crops only grow when I am online or there is offline growing too??
Crops grow one tick while offline otherwise you have to be online for them to continue
I feel like this is the somewhat subtle problem with beans on toast: for every
- 1 harvest boosted bean plant, you also need
- 13 harvest boosted wheat plants
- 3 harvest boosted tomato plants
total of 20 tiles
And that produces 2.8 recipes of beans on toast per growth tick, or 8.5 dishes -- 2,830 focus per growth tick, assuming 100% star rate.
I think you could only reasonably cram MAYBE 2 of those sets of crops into a layout, if you want it to be watered/weeded.
So a maximum of 5,662 (ish) focus per growth tick for 40 tiles. Maybe. Assuming the star rate is as generous as I think it should be.
Meanwhile, 13 tiles of harvest boosted wheat alone produces about 8.7 recipes of steak dinner (~26 dishes) per growth tick (same focus amounts as beans on toast).
If you assume an absolutely abysmal 50% star rate, that's still
- 4.3 recipes starred (337 focus per dish, 4,347 focus together)
- 4.3 recipes unstarred (225 focus each, 2,902 focus together)
per growth tick, or 7,249 focus per growth tick extracted from just 13 tiles out of 81 (plus butter, spice sprouts, and any red meat).
(Note: I didn't do 20 tiles because a layout that has room for 20 grain crops is very rare.)
Compare that with 13 tiles of HB cabbage and 7 tiles of HB carrots (20 total tiles) for cabbage rolls (also needs meat, mushroom, green onion). This recipe is broken with an unusually high star rate, so let's assume 90% star rate when cooking solo (it's ~99% in groups)
Those 20 tiles produce just over 6 recipes of cabbage rolls (18 dishes) per growth tick. At 412 focus per starred dish - and let's even just leave out the unstarred ones - that's 6,674 focus per growth tick for 20 tiles.
If you're willing/able to make kitchen-cooked recipes, your garden tiles are freed up to either make you gold directly, or to let you plant crops needed for profit parties.
....buuut beans on toast is still probably the best option if you can't do kitchen-cooked stuff for focus.
aa i have a question related to soil, so i have this layout , im wondering if i can put decor or a plushie in those empty spaces ?
You... can? But they will look dusty.
how 😄
that looks amazing, now how do i do it
(zoom in on the snowman plush)
The garden plots have an effect where they put "dust"/dirt on the first few inches of anything overlapping them
I think I used cancel placement?
I have a question that's kinda gardening related, but when the crops are grown and harvested, what's the best thing to do with them next? I feel like I just end up selling the grown vegetables or throwing them into seed makers to make more seeds for the next harvest but I feel like that's a bit inefficient. any tips?
Some things are better jarred others seeds
That’s a Ruby Tree.
Man look at you go for all the math. That has been my trouble lately. I’m not looking for 100 weed but definitely want watered. That’s what I’ve been working on myself. I jut hate the many steps of cooking to get dishes I am just going to devour.
This is what I came up with last night if people don’t mind weeding a bit
anyones twisted tree returned back into a planted seed form after growing super big? bug or intented, I wonder :/
Not just you, and almost certainly a bug
so i have settled on this layout but im not really sure what to do with each crop
as far as i have read, apples get turned into jam, sell
potatoes for worms
tomatoes into seeds then sell
but im not even sure if these information are true, im wondering what determines what i should do with each crop
Those are some oooold pieces of advice, haha
Here's a reference comparing all the different (solo) processing methods:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Palia/comments/1n9ehqr/seeds_vs_preserves_which_crops_are_the_most/
But the short version (summarized from those spreadsheets) is:
- potatoes, bok choy, beans, and anything that can't go in a jar: seeds
- everything else: jar
Taking your crops to a cooking party is almost always better revenue than solo processing them, sometimes by several orders of magnitude (e.g., rice for sashimi/sushi with high-value fish)
Cooking parties are amazing but i feel like they take so much time, I wanted something like an afk money maker so i can go and explore the game, im still on my first week
im still level 9 as well so i might change the layout once i hit 25
cooking parties do take a while to set up and get everyone going especially if it gets bigger for bigger dishes. its why some people dont bother with refilling their focus cause they find cooking annoying. t-t
so im trying to look around and see camp fire recipes people are doign the math for bean on toast and rice and beans to see .,
im gonna want to figure out a garden set up for either one of those campfire recipes. after my apples are done growing
If you're not planning on doing cooking parties for money, then solo processing cash crops are, in order:
- bok choy (seeds)
- potatoes (seeds)
- rice (seeds)
- tomatoes (jar)
- beans are the only viable 2x2 cash crop
- apples (jarred) are... okay as a cash crop. Their main virtue is that they are very hands-off if fully buffed, but they have a high replanting cost.
- carrots and onions are both viable to fill in the second weeder; onions are used in more recipes, but carrots are slightly better revenue (both jarred)
- wheat (seeds) or corn (jar) are both OK if you need a second harvest boost single tile
Aim for 100% harvest boost if you can - once you hit level 10, that makes more difference than quality up. Fertilizer is worth using -- feed your glow worms all the cheap 9-16g forage, meat, and ranching produce for fertilizer that is basically free (you could sell only the glow worms and still make money)
Everything else? Utility crop. If you don't need it for cooking right now, don't plant it -- sub in something else.
I will def look more into this but again I want to put as little effort as possible into gardening so something that's 100% water & weed ,doesn't need any fertilizing
and just works into a system that doesn't take more than 5 ~ 10 mins of my irl day
it doesn't have to be the most profitable, it just needs to be the most efficient at saving me time
I haven't fully understood gardening so i can't just make up a layout, im relying on findings layouts online and adjusting them to my needs
Oh yeah, of course, 100% water/weed goes without saying, lol, I'm not gonna ever point you to anything else unless asked for it specifically
But for level 9 gardening, search this channel for the bullseye if you also want to avoid fertilizer completely. It only lacks harvest boost on the corners.
Then, once you get apple seeds, consider swapping to the diamond layout (4 apple trees plus water/weed/HB supporting modules). You'll lose revenue, but apple trees are good effort-savers.
(Other folks in the channel may have other suggestions since it's been a while since I reviewed the latest innovations in here :P)
You can also sub in up to 4 bean plants on the bullseye (Yexol had a good example of that) if that appeals to you
I feel like 2 months from now i will understand everything that you're saying
i do have many apple seeds, i harvested from the free apple tree you get at the beginning
my storage is a mess, this is what's left after just planting the layout above
If you've got apples, then here's the diamond layout I mentioned: #🌱│gardening message
(You can ignore the fertilizer if you want, but use if if you've got it - you can stack fertilizer up to 99 units per plant, so you don't have to fuss with it every day)
and we get fertilizer from worm farms or ?
You can also use any grain you want (rice, wheat, corn) depending. Corn will give you more time between harvests, rice will give you more revenue, wheat's in the middle and useful for cooking focus food
i will swtich to this one as soon as i harvest everything on my current one
Yes, savory items in a worm or glow worm farm produce harvest boost fertilizer; sweet things (which for some reason includes canned beans) produce quality up. You want harvest boost.
Anyone have an extra twisted tree seed? I accidentally sold mine. 😭
thank you so much @neat vortex i will def keep notes of all of this cus i will forget everything and i will update you once i become a millionaire
Contact player support - this has been happening with lots of folks
Hey guys! Now that I have apples, should I switch to apple jelly for money from potato pickles?
If you haven't already I would say a nice thing to do is the almost everythign plot. Lets you get the achievments done and lets you get your star seeds for almost all your crops.
Thanks!
I have not, I'll keep that in mind!
https://palia-garden-planner.vercel.app/?layout=v0.2_DIM-111-111-111_CROPS-TWBkPRCCoTP-TWSpPCrSpBBA-SpTCrSpPRAAO-RCrWPAACbAA-BBAACo.HpAABB-AACbAAPWCrR-OAARPSpCrTSp-ABBSpCrPSpWT-PTCoCRPBkWT From the google doc, its quite high maintence but you can switch after the achievements are done
Are new plants, berries, vegetables, or fruits planned for gardening during Highlands?
depends on if you want max lazy, and yeah this layout is a bit outdated but easily fixed with minor changes
so the very lazy layout that i used is a 4 apple/ 4 blueberry (though can sub for beans), it is meant strictly for the apples and blue/beans to be harvested only, everything else is left in the ground so they don't require the water or weed buffs (can actually leave the weeds on the water retain crops as they don't activate the weed glitch. this is a great setup for those who like to be out in the game playing as you would have about 6-12 hours before the first harvest of the bushes and apples
a "modified" version of the layout that you showed earlier that uses a bit of harvest boost fertilizer in spots to get 100% harvest boost
and if you want 4 apples and 5 bushes you can try duhscapes layout though it's a bit more reliant on fertilizers than i like for a lazy layout
we know have some of htose with 0 fert
hi, if i planted the wrong seed can I remove it or it has to grow?
rclick wiht hoe
or whatever is select ammo on consoles
is it more profitable selling crops raw or preserved?
It is never more profit to sell raw.
Some crops are better seeded (Bok Choy, Potatoes, Rice, Wheat, Cotton, Beans), some are better preserved (everything else).
But that's just pure profit. If you don't have many crafters (or play a lot), the above could change
okay uh, weird question, anyone else having trouble... un-tilling their soil?
i wanna pick it up to make sure i place them all down in the same orientation because i am veryyyyyy slightly ocd when it comes to games
on anotehr note, here is my Super Lazy Minimal garden layout, though I did end up personally swapping teh tomatoes for nappa cabbage to make a ton of cabbage rolls
the soil un-tills after 48 irl hours
love your icon, and yeah... i didn't wanna wait though x3 although, i think i managed to line the ones i could pcik upto the one i couldn't....
what's everyone using for focus food nowadays since the canned bean nerf? i cba to do the cooking minigame
I do Cabbage rolls (starred). 412 focus, not tooooo many ingrediants, and a forgiving timer.
The only part of teh cooking minigame you really gotta do is chopping
yeah i'm trying to find something that's not related to cooking at all, either something pickled like the beans or something from the grill like toast on beans (which needs certain mats from farming that i currently don't have)
💀 Im no help then x3
i recommend checking out Ren's message and spreadsheet #🍳│cooking-foraging message
Hi everyone, does anyone have an optimized planting technique for growing all kinds of plants?
All of the beans on toast ingredients are available at level 1 gardening -- you can walk into Elderwood and pick up bean seeds from the batterfly bean plants that grow at the base of the twisted trees. No seed maker required :)
i was talking more about the wheat, i have a certain garden layout that has no wheat at all, so i always go buy the wheat and it's quite expensive
so i'm prob gonna switch something up and add wheat instead of beans for instance
Astrea Moreno specializes in "everything gardens" and has a masterpost in this channel listing a bunch of 'em! I can't search it up right now unfortunately
Ah, interesting, where can I see it?
Right here #🌱│gardening message
What was the best bok choy afk setup again?
Not sure im reading it right, but if I use speedy grow on an apple tree every day how long will it take to grow?
Speedy grow has been bugged for a long time so it's hard ro say
question: i planted the twisted tree and it grew all the way up and then it went back to seed... is that a bug?
yes
Does donating them go to other players? Only breeding to get my skill up
nah it delete em from game this is also the gardening channel
omg I am blind so sorry, ty!
what did faster together do i wonder now
Anyone got a good farm layout for me? I am level 19. With pumpkin being the star
why pumpkin?
Most profit
i made this one // i also just put harvest boost, dont really know much about fertilizer placements
pumpkins produce very few pumpkins per growthtick per tile
even though the crop itself is the most valueble
so they are the absolute worst for money
needless to say they do have uses in some dishes and are very pretty
i can help fix u a layout tomorrow to tired for it now
Saw this setup , is it worth going like this when focusing on coins only?
Anyone have any recs for a fast leveling up garden? I'm on lvl 5 and need to get to 7 for the better hoe 😂
Thank you so much 🙂
Alright, yeah, that makes sense. I just want to find a way to have a stable income from the crops, where I am also able to cook all the meals
Hi! Something changed in my settings and now I can't place down my veggies in my garden 🙁 Everything else works, tools etc. I can also select te veggie, I see it on the ground but I can't place it 🙁
Can anyone tell me which key setting I should be looking at?
Does rice/wheat + harvest boost stack with each other and for other plants? i feel like im wasting harvest boost fertilizers
If a crop is already harvest boosted by a nearby crop, the fertilizer will remain untouched
my twisted tree just reverted back into a pile of dirt?? is this normal??
It's a known bug
😭 does that mean i have to wait for it to regrow again...
No idea, this is all I know
#💬│palia-general message
does anyone know why some of my crops have pink swirls but some dont, even though they have the same boosts?
example here, they both have weed prevention and harvest boost but only one has pink swirls?
The swirls are fertilizer I believe. One plant probably has a boost from a neighboring plant. The other has it from fertilizer.
Different plants have things that boost neighboring plants
I have a question, I don't know anything about diagrams, can someone help me?
They say 13 fertilizers, but I apply them every day?
oh, i didnt do any extra fertliser though?
Note to self get abby everything layout
Idk then. I may be wrong?
That's just saying 13 plants need fertilizer. Beyond that I'm not sure. What it means. But I do believe you need to keep the fertilizer on it for it to keep the buff
I may be off on this so if someone can verify this.
There's an amount of charges you can have on the plot for fertilizer and I think the plants use a bit each day. If it runs out you will have a percentage chance to not get the boost based on how long it was there vs after running out
Are these icons the bonuses that plants receive?
Yes
yes please 😄
Should be able to make the one that u need soon and send it here
Do plants grow better next to different plants whe you're gardening? Like I'm just planting everything...
Mine tooo
rip 😭 bro everyone twisted trees pulling an immortal jellyfish on us
That sucks….i wanted a seed or something lol
So we just have to keep watering or is it a bug?
it's a bug, it shouldn't be reverting back to dirt, but the devs said they are aware of the bug
Kk
see above
oops wrong channel
My twisted tree also just reverted. I think it was about at max size
I went to my ranching lot and when I came back it was a pile of dirt again
Thank you so much😃
yw abby
thanks for posting this, I just searched when mine did 😢
I want to use these layouts but I feel like i dont understand this website, i feel like im making a mistake ,:D
i mean u can still use the layout others made
what worrying ya
Just about everything on the right side of the page, and also when to use the fertilizers, when to replant, etc etc. Its totally overwhelming me lol
oh that the rightside of that pic is just to compare layouts with productionwise dont worry to much about it
when to use fertyilisers u gotto know how buffs works first
,, I dont,, i think
Im just trying to switch out of just planting everything in rows, im really new to this
ok so u plant crop it needs to be watered and weed free (and not have knapweed bug but ignore that for now)
some plants give water retain water stays buff to neighbours
same for soem plants but with knapweed proof
and something that gives +50% production (*ignore exceptions and blaabla)
so we usually try to make a layout that has at least water retain cuz we lazy
and hb cuz free extra money
as such we strategically place plants to make it work
cabbages cannot buff themselves
highlighted is has water retain so no need ot water manually
i see
harvest boost is awesome i love it yes
Oh so my layout i made myself is garbage oh dear
OKAY lol thank you !!! LOL im sorry im just . mine did not consider any of this LOLLL
I mean i spend 4hours figuring out mechanics before planting a seed so xd
chaos gardening does not win any efficiency prices
Not sure if this is really a 'gardening' question, but it does pertain to growing something from a seed...so I am trying to grow my twisted tree big enough to give me the seed for when it is done growing...but it just reverts back to the dirt mound? Is this a known bug?
Quick question, if you have a tomato plant to keep nearby crops watered, does the effect still apply if the tomato plant itself isnt watered?
Yes.
Does the well from the gardening guild count against the crafter limit? I should hope not, but I'm unwilling to bet all my medals on it.
Did anyone else have their twisted tree turn back into a seed?
No its extra water point
Heard others having that problem
My poor tree reverted to a seed
I've seen alot of people have also had this happen. It may be best to stop watering it until the bug is fixed :(
I was unsure about the limit because it is described as a crafter on the wiki. Thank you.
Note to self get account on wiki and edit such pages to be fixed
All of my plants have been harvest boosted fully but I feel like I've been getting less crops than usual?
To be fair, it's not really the wiki's fault. I had a look at the ingame description.
even though it may not count against limit the item itself still may be categorized as a crafter in game and that's what it's categorization on the wiki is based off of
Yes, I've just seen and posted about the ingame category myself. Both the game and the wiki lack clarity about which crafters count and which don't, I guess.
i can definitely see if a note could be added to the wiki page that it does not count towards item, but i know there's a chance it might have at one point as well
That would definitely be helpful. Goes for the cooking crafters too, on their own pages and on the crafters page ...
hey guys, friend and i were working around with this layout some days and are trying to dissect it- assuming the numbers aren't changed, what am i to understand of the "30 days" number in the corner? is this pic basically giving amt numbers of various harvest cycles within 30d? or do i need to leave the harvest untouched for the stuff to cook more?
that one tells the total output is for 30 days so it dont give production value wiht one crop being unfinished on the average coin calcs
and gives the total production for 30growthticks
which is the lowest common denominator (fastest moment the entire field is empty again if u constantly harvest replant asap
do you get more money selling potato seeds or should i pickle them
seeds
thank you someone send me the spread sheet
Apologies if this has been asked/answered, but I cannot fine the info. Sometimes when I harvest, the soil remains tilled, and I can immediately replant. Other times when I harvest the soil reverts, and needs to be tilled again before it can be replanted. What determines if it is un-tilled upon harvesting? Can it be avoided? Or is it some fixed number of plantings? It does not seem random, as multiple crops sometimes need re-tilling at the same time.
48irl hours after last tilling and not having a plant on it anymore
But sometimes immediately after harvesting it becomes un-tilled with no 48 hour delay.
Perhaps if a crop is matured and remains ready to be harvested for 48 hours, it becomes un-tilled when harvested?
Hello, I tried to find a fast leveling setup for farming I am currently 17 trying to get 25 for all starred crops
aslong as u harvest and replant stuff immediatly everything is the same xp per growthtick
(exceptions messing withs speedygrow but dont bother with that where ugonna get tons of speedy grow from anyways)
Thanks yeah im thinking of having water retain, weed protection, harvest quality - does starred offer more exp?
no, just more money
what sylva said
harvest quality?_?
do u mean quality up or harvest boost cuz harvest boost is better at ur lv
and u can ignore weedblock for a bit if u remember to check ur soils replkace it with cotton only XD
Ahh weed block is just to ignore and afk until its grown
was just giving options but go go plant stuff grow hit lv25
hi! could someone help me? i’m trying to make a garden only for gold, is there any layout that works the best for this? thanks!
what the best gold layout is for u depend son the player alot but we can give pretty decent overal ones
i’ve been looking at the chat and there’s some good layouts but i can’t use apples yet so i’m looking for an alternative layout without apples ;(
ur level is super low still right?
if you want the "best" gold layout, field of bok choy with harvest boost on every one. then turn the crops to seeds. needs to be babied with watering and weeding and you need pretty much all the crafter space dedicated to seeders
i think that i can use everything except apples, idk if that’s low haha
okay i’ll check it out thanks!
thanks also! this seems helpful also :)
u get apples before lv 10 in the mail as a level up reward
once lv 25 u stop benefitting from the cottons quality up buff
gotcha! i think i’m lvl 9
Hey y'all, is it normal that my weedblock fertilizer is disappearing from crops in stacks? like I gave my pumpkin 100 fert, barely 2 ticks later there's none left and it even had weeds....
(also not the first crop I had it disappear on, just the first crop I actually paid attention to how much fert I had given it before it went poof)
Hi honestly is it better to have starred or unstarred vegetables and what is a good limit most people go by? Trying to minimize storage space 🙂
For cooking and cooking parties btw
starred is almost always preferred with only a handful of reasons to keep unstarred!
Thanks for the insight
Anyone else have advice on starred vs unstarred vegetables when it comes to storage and cooking?? Open to all 🙂
Sometimes it buggs if full stack try slightly less
Starred unles forget allow starred checkbox as recipe starter and unbuyables to gift to others
Ah thanks for your answer! But.... Yikes. Ive had it with non-fullstacks too, is this with all fertilizer types? Has this been going on for long or is it a new bug? Also did the growthboost fertlizer ever get fixed?
Also it only seems to happen with 4 tile crops so far
Yes
Yes
Speedygrow can be used but is still weird
They cross soils yes?
Yes! Is that the problem? O.o
Thats seems to be related
Also noticed the sliding still happens to appletrees and 4 tile crops when crossing soil, I was afraid those old bugs weren't fixed still ugh
Oh my phoenix its the original gardening master
?? I’m lost on the last comment
Starrred is better unles the recipe starter forgets the allow starred checkbox
Unstarredd can be gifted do if someone needs an apple gifted they cannot buy those in any shoos(not without depending absurd smounts of medals)
Master gardener speedygrow can be used now second proc makes crop grow one additional growthtick
Not sure how it works with qu and hb buff though
And how u supposed to get plenty speedygrow
Its also awkward with most crops growthtimes
Star crops are higher quality, so villagers that want some crop as a gift can be gifted a starred one instead for more points, they have a higher sell value and craft into higher valued preserves and seeds. You can also use them in cooking recipes by ticking the box at the bottom of the recipe that allows for the use of star quality crops. If you want to use some star quality and some non-star crops, put your star quality produce in the lockbox storage while you cook to keep them safe. Using star quality doesn't guarantee star quality outcome on cooking, but it highers the chance significantly, so when people organise cooking parties they like it if you bring star quality produce. (some foragables are hard to come by in star quality so it's not per sé needed tho!)
I ment unstarred for gifting to other players though
is it still buggy tho? or is it really doing its thing every 2 growthticks?
ah yiss good point!
It should work but its to hard to get dpeedygrow to test and we design our layouts differently nowadays
yeah I kinda phased out the growthboost entirely, it's such a shame it kinda died out
what do you mean with design differently?
Apples blueberrys give hb boost
We use that to make lazy layouts
ah yeah... Ive also kinda reverted to just wanting a little bit of everything with as many boosts as possible, they kinda took the soul out of it didn't they x)
Its so much easier now
even trying to make all water/harvest + as much weedblock as possible and then adding the weedblock fert is giving me headaches with it disappearing on me x)
Why do ur layouts need weedblock fert?
So unoptimised(cuz so much fert)
U really do not have to invlude cotton atleast
its the only one without water and didn't want to desync my garden if I wasn't back in time to water it 😂
yeah I made some sacrifices lol
Lemme know if u need help with it
Sure if you have any thoughts I'd love to hear it 😄
When designing u dont have to include 3types of one tile same buff crops as u can substitute later
definitely interesting 😄 it kinda hurts my brain somehow tho its not symmetrical xD but you got so damn close to full coverage with adjacency boosts! 😄
This one is only 3 more fert then the ansolute minimum 4 corners +4 cuz useless qualityup buff
Well i just modify bullseye layouts usually
bullseye layouts?
The circular triple buff classic
Has some variants i just dumped larger plants in the middle
ahh yes
@floral talon so what do you cook for food and what do you feed your ranching animals from this setup?
I dont run that one but i use applejam to eat n animals and blueberry when animals need dlightly less
what do you run then?
Hmm, intersting take, not harvesting some crops and just leaving them there to catch the weeds 🧐
At9 weeds u get knapweed bug so on ultralazy layouts u make only 8 crops lack weedblock max
Nvm just realisdd there is fertless one with 5 blueberrys only with 4 …
My layout is still thd best
what is knapweed bug?
Still pondering haha but just finished this one
At 9 weeds the game cant save the progress unles u manually interact eith the layout seed harvest addremove fert
It will revert when going offline or leaving plot and when u werent on plot at growthtick it eont gtow
Ohh 🧐
Much much better i can approve this one
Seeing ur crops grow in reverse is also quiet a sight to behold
I can imagine O.o
We tried layouts where u place 9 knapweeds on crops do u dont need weedblock xd
Then customer support was like magic chapaas sprinkled pikksii dust on the weeds so ur supposed to weed ur weeds
The foreeshadowing cuz they didnt add pikksiis yet
yes
beans on toast layout anyone?
thank you so much for this 🥹🥹
@floral talon I stole your idea 😄
ooooo so close! 😄
I also love this one it seems insane O.o
I see you know your stuff; I found this one.
I have a few questions, please about garding with this website
Not sure if I can answer all of them but ask away
im sure there's someone in here who can help 😄
Those circled ones are what we need to plant every day; we mustn't miss any, right? And those underlined ones don't need anything placed on them; they get the boost from the neighboring seeds?
those circled ones are fertilizer, to be specific harvest boost fertilizer, and yes, they get consumed every ingame day (so one per real life hour), but you can stack them for a few days ahead (just don't hit the max stack on them because apparently fertlizer can bug out then and disappear).
those at the top are all the cropboosts you achieved on that crop, either by crop adjacency or by fertilizer if it got a fertilizer icon. In case of the blueberries you don't need to do anything indeed, they have all adjacency boosts
So I can apply and ensure I always have ~20 HarvestBoost Fertilizer for each seed as shown in the image?
also the one tile crops consume 1 fertilizer every hour, but for example a 4 tile crop consumes 4 every hour, and an appletree 9
yes!
Do you guys put most of your preserves into the worm farm??
Do you sell most of your products?? Or do you put them into the worm farm to make worms then sell the worms and fertilizer?? I feel like i’d be making more just selling the product versus making worms and fertilizer out of it to sell. Plz lmk !!
Well rolls up sleeves lol Ive been away for a while so the guide is in no way up to date, and not sure if anything changed on this by now, but it still gives a good idea I guess for what you're asking, maybe someone else's guide is up to date but yeah I hope to update mine some time soon too lol: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1cDsOxSJSkODSEimSEZmmos2_5hOGJ1Typ4tXutjBI9I/edit#gid=1206330854
On average you can turn your produce into food, turn that into fertilizer, and then sell what you're getting in the end with profit. But I would sell preserves on their own I guess, @floral talon uses it for focus food and ranch food, but in the end it comes down to how you prefer to play!
Okay okay!! I think i’m going to get my coin up and just buy as many crafters as I can 😭😭🤣
Also my focus is terrible, I need to get that up too 😭 I’ve played for about a year now on and off just focusing on my garden and trying to understand everything. Now i’m hooked 🪝
Absolutely WASTING cooking party food 🥲
I got quite a few preserve jars and seedmakers to get as much out of my garden as possible, and I support it with a few wormfarms, I mostly play solo right now so I don't cook as much, but indeed cooking parties are a good way to make some good money, especially birthday cakes (as I remember lol, there have been a few updates since Ive played)
Yes i’m a solo player as well, just join cooking parties when I can. Otherwise I don’t play with anybody. This is great advice and we share the same sort of gameplay I believed Thank you so much! I will start workinnnn ☺️
My first cooking party was last night and now i’m addicted 🤣🤣 I went to another today. First one was cake, and then chili bowls. Made like 20k off the cakes. & Didn’t even sell them all. 🙂
ah that's great 😄 cooking parties can be so much fun indeed 😄 Then it's especially worth it to look into some wormfarms, with my old data at least birthday cakes give even more after processing them into worms and fertilizer and then selling that 😄
but yeah good luck 😄 and enjoy setting your empire up 😄
no i dump other stuff in
maws sashimi is SOOO much better 480.000 coins per hour lmao
Hey guys!
Is someone having issues with the twisted tree (I hope it’s called like that) too? I have grown mine quite big, seen him the last in-game day and now it’s suddenly a seed again?!
Is that the clue of the tree or just a stupid bug?
bug
thx. Such a waste of time
how we even get the twisted seed i just randomly owned one
Wasn’t it a reward for hunting x mil creatures in the elderwood? 🧐
I hoped the tree gave another seed when outgrown but.. 🤷🏻♀️
we will find out eventually they are patching alot of stuff per week now
Does anyone know wath are the best to get glow worms
best in what metric
quick question as a complete new player to this, should I sell starred seeds or are they useful somehow? I tried looking at the gold profit and checking wiki but I didn't see anything specific about them
I planted my tree, and it’s stuck in the floor of my house, how do I make a ticket, can I get it replaced?
I don't mind the pings, especially if it's to give me credit for my layouts. It's nice to know people use and like em
Just wanted to let you know I've been using the first layout and absolutely loving it, it's perfect for Beans and Toast. Thank you so much for sharing
Ofc! I like tinkering with the planner here and there. Glad to know the results came in handy for you
Oh ok good idea 🙂
more chance at starred produce unles high lv as u only get starred anyways
We NEED crop varieties! Like heirloom seeds and the like!
It'd be so cool to have like, different colored pumpkins, tomatoes and carrots!
Or more seeds, like shallots and turnips.
I could agree with shallots and turnips maybe some more vegetables but changing the color would be different for sure.
give us more fruit please
there's so many canon fruits we don't have
how do i move soil w/ placed crops (beans) on it
/ maybe my question is - how many cycles of beans before replant
Beans are harvested four times. Initally after six days, then three times after two days each.
as long as no 2x2s or apples are occupying two soil plots, then you should be able to move them with the overhead view in decoration. this works as long as you are keeping the soils on the same home plot. if you are trying to move them to another home plot, you will have to wait 48 irl hours for the soils to un-till and then you can pick them up and move them
There's also a keyboard shortcut that will let you move a whole group of soil plots...i can't recall what it is off the top of my head...alt or q or something
holding alt should let you group select
On console it's either the L2 or R2 trigger (the big ones). Haven't moved stuff in a while so am not sure which one exactly it is
Thank you kindly for your insight I’ll try lockbox method for certain starred ingredients
Good idea 👍🏾 🙂
is the palia garden layout generator any good ? its displaying different setups to pictures im seeing on the net
From the alternative wiki no
its from that paliapedia one
is there something similar for people starting out because trying to figure all this out is hard
Not really but theres a website to help design layouts and u can ask others for layouts here
Ill try do more googling tomorrow I think and see what I can find but it's good to know that generator isn't any good
I think it places crops at random
my apple garden is almost finish with its last cycles. im trying to set up a beans on toast layout.
how many beans, wheats and tomatoes will i need to plant?
Could someone quickly explain how the seed maker works? Whatever veggie/fruit I put in, I yet the seed for?
Seed Makers take x amount of crops and create x amount of seeds. It differs per recipe but the important bit is using STARRED crops to get starred seeds.
Thank you.
I personally recommend using this starter garden layout to be a mostly set and forget type of garden.
I'd still 'check' on your garden every hour and the plants in that specific layout you will find used in almost every other garden layout possible. AND it's rather simple
I'd also highly reccomend using Preservers Jars as they increase your profits and give you some very useful focus food.
Awesome. Thank you
. I've been growing what I get from quests and the store, but I want to try the seed maker.
Save starred crops to put into the seed maker. Make a few of them (I usually have 1 per crop that I currently have planted) and just go ham processing the crops into Preserves Jars
By one per crop you mean the seedmaker correct?
Correct. One seed maker per crop.
For Example:
One for Tomatoes
One for Potatoes
Just fill them with starred crops and come back to collect your seeds. If you're casually playing. That'll be plenty. If you're religiously playing. Youll need more.
Hey i see the picture of the layout you linked above, profit wise is that decent ? i was looking at IGN website and was going to try the 9x9 profit yield one, I've only just got my seed collector unlocked and trying to push for profit in these early stages of the game, or is there changes to the IGN one you'd recommend ?
That's good! That's fine by all means. I usually recommend basic/simple layouts for those just starting out and using Onions,Bok Choy, Tomatoes and Potatoes. Since they're all very useful in a variety of other layouts.
Profit wise. I frankly could not tell you. Technically if you wanna maximize profit. You're best off with Bok Choy just purely or mostly. iirc that's the best bang for your buck, so to speak.
i see Bok Choy has the same affect as tomato and potato, which one would u remove for Bok Choy or would u do a mix of all 3 ?
That is not Bok Choy. Nappa Cabbage does the same as Potato and Tomato.
Bok Choy does what Carrots and Onions do. Which is prevent weeds
yes! i see that now haha, question still remains but with the correct veggies 😛
You only need 2 of them since they can anti weed each other
so in the layout i posted above youd suggest removing a carrot or 2 for bok choy ?
I'd suggest removing carrots period. replacing with Bok Choy.
so no carrots, bok choy and onion with same layout ?
Correct
due to price ?
classic bullseye brings me back
Due to sell price. Yes
ok thanks ill give it a go
does anyone else's twisted tree keep resetting to a seedling?
yes, it is a known bug
I’m not understanding here , is there a certain crop layout that makes the most money ? Because I keep buying tomatoes and potatoes and just planting in whatever order .
if you are looking for max money, a field of bok choy with either every plant having harvest boost fertilizer on it or having intermittent rice/wheat/corn that will provide the bok choy with the harvest boost is the best money maker. this type of layout requires babysitting as you need to return to the plot every hour to water and weed and you need access to as many seeders as you can in order to keep up with the production. that being said, you can still make gold off of the tomatoes and potatoes (or any crop) as long as you can keep up with the growth and processing of the crop
I usually just do half a field of tomatoes and half a field with potatoes , then I get 4k each whenever I sell them all with harvest boost fertilizer , sometimes I even get 5k with quality fertilizer from making worms , and if I want more I just start fishing at zekis underground for a while and sell everything for around 2k
Btw I like your pfp
It’s alittle more pricey but , as long as you can manage your gold well it will last you
And I just realized I should be saving them in my storage so I can sell them all at once
if you have access to them, make them into preserve jars, then sell the jars a bit more money when they are processed
How much do you say preserve jars could make you ?
your layout is 50/50 tomatoes and potatoes with harvest boost fert on them?
Yes , sometimes harvest boost sometimes quality fertilizer
what's your gardening level?
I think around lvl 13
rough estimation miles may vary with just selling the raw crop since i'm not sure exactly how your layout looks
That’s significantly less , than what everybody else is making I’m doing it all wrong
same layout, but processing all of the crops into preserve jars
No sir , what is the best layout you recommend to me using that same program thingy
Half quality fertilizer remember
field of bok choy is the best crop to plant for max profit, with putting everything into the seeder and replanting some of the star seeds that you get back again rough estimate miles may vary, needs to have access to as many seeders as you can spare some of them have quality up fert
this is also a layout for 30 hours of harvesting and replanting
Wowww
with just harvest boost
Welp that’s about to be my new layout
wrong one in previous post here's the one with harvest boost only
do keep in mind that process time though, i only placed down 6 seeders and it would take 27 days to process all of that
though using 20 crafters will drop that time down to 8 days, if you held onto the crops and did them all at once (which you wouldn't do as you would keep the seeders processing though out the game play)
ummmm..... no. that's irl days
this is why they say that bok choy fields are the "try hard" layout. big reward, but be prepared to have massive amounts of overstock if you play and harvest/replant a lot
How do you get the planner to show the number of crafters?
when in the planner the four buttons on the side under the fertilizers the third from the left will take you to where you can decide how to process them
Thank you!!
quick question so when a specific veg or plant is ready for harvest while others are still growing do you have to straight away harvest that fully grown plant and replant more to maintain whatever effect it gives the rest of your crops ? or can you leave it there fully grown and wait for the rest?
Your crop still provides its boost when fully grown. So if you want conveionce you can just wait an extra day or 2 and harvest everything together. If you care about crop yield and xp then you will collect as soon as it is ready
How do I make preserve jars?
Once you get to gardening level 8 you can buy the recipe from Badruu
Thank you 😊
were the drop rates for star-quality crops increased? cuz for the past week like 90% of my harvest is star quality without any quality-up effects and its a little weird
I believe that as you level up your gardening skill, theres more of a chance for star quality crops! Did you level up your farming skill recently? I haven't heard anything about them changing the rates for star quality crops but I could've missed something!
hmm i dunno o-o
im only on lvl 25 in gardening and i dont remember getting this many starred crops a few months ago the last time i played regularly
thats why im surprised XD
Ahhh yes! I believe now that at level 25 gardening, you'll probably be getting alot of starred crops. Im about to be gardening like like 50 and a MAJORITY of my crops tend to be star quality. That being said, I usually try and plant star quality seeds, but sometimes I get reg quality seeds from the zeki coins and stuff
oh i see o-o
ive been planting mostly normal seeds and still get a lot ^^'
25% base chance plus 25%star seed +2% per lv +50% if quality up
Lv25 starred seeds starred only
Lv38 never unstarred anything
whats the best crop to put into preserve jars? Im coming back to Palia after a long haitus and i feel like they used to give more money than they do now.
antyhing not bokchoi potato or beans
Absolute best is Apple, but Tomato aint that bad either
Thank you!
I'm trying to figure out a good low maintenance garden for passive profit. Minimal crop diversity and fertilizer. Was thinking maybe something like this:
I was going to feed the pickled tomatoes to my ranch animals, and then eat the pickled potatos for focus. The wheat and onion would be mostly for buffs.
Can you stack different kinds of fertilizer on top of eachother?
whats the best way to make money with bok choy? should i sell it as is? or pickle and then turn into worms? or just pickle/worms? seeds?
For raw crops vs seeds vs preserve it's seeds for bokchoy. Idk about worms but I don't think it's worth it
seeds takes so long u got no cracter capacity left for worming almost same for jarrin g
I have plenty of jars and seeders, and wormers I just get rid of my excess meat, grilled fish (when I went on a fishing spree) and other food items I have too much of (like mushrooms, milk and eggs). I find that with 4 glow worms and 2 worms it's plenty for me
And I think I have 6 or 8 seeders and 8 preserve jars
Hopefully I'm using this correctly, lol. I just came across the website myself the other day.
But so far I've been using this layout with 4 Jars, 3 seeds, and 3 glow worms.
Currently only Lv.12 in Gardening, but I do try, lol.
Thoughts?
Could someone share with me the layout for Bean Burgers cooking parties? I had it saved somewhere, but deleted
Nvm just found it
This is my layout. I turn potatoes and cabbage into seeds, and apples and berries into jam, then into worms. I feed some of my blueberry jam to the ranch animals as well. If need be, I can switch out blueberry bushes for other 2x2 plants, and I do have 4 spots, where I can switch out potatoes/cabbage for a different plant without impacting my buffs.
Some weeds do appear, but I feel like it's not that big of a problem
I didn't include processors here, since this planner cannot calculate money from worming my jams haha
could someone please explain the speedygro for me like i'm a dummy? i dont understand the description at all
growthtick its applied it gets one count
second time plant grows an extra growthtick cuz of it
so its like grow 1 grow 1 grow 1 normally
speedy grow grow 1 grow 2
i'm sorry but that just made me even more confused lmao
the second time the speedygrow procs u get an extra growthtick in on the plant
You need to have at least 2 of the fertiliser down to see an effect.
The first one does nothing, the second means that the crop grows 2 stages instead of 1.
So, Bok Choy, Carrots and Rice normally need 3 in-game days to grow.
If you put down 2 (or more) Speedy Gro, then these crops take 2 rather than 3 days.
That said, Speedy Gro used to be rather buggy and wouldn't always work.
I have no idea if anyone has tested it to see if it has been fixed.
@floral talon have you heard if it's less buggy now at all?
Do you remember how it was buggy too? I seem to remember it interacting badly with Harvest Boost and Quality Up. Is that right?
from what i ve heard poeple using it and htats few poeple at leas speedygrow works on its own though still ruining hb and qu alot (we know how that works mechanic wise)
so its only for those oging for xp above all else that makes it worth it
oh thank you that makes sense! i know it was bugged when i started playing so i never bothered with it. i thought the extra growth circle it added was to the produce itself so you got an extra days harvest, if that makes sense.
does it stack? like can you (if not bugged) stack more than 2 of the speedygro and say make an apple tree grow twice as fast?
Cheers Duh
But yeah, if it messes with how likely HB is to proc, I'm not so interested haha
hb? proc?
All crops either have each buff, or they do not.
You can't stack the effect
ah okay okay! so it's a kinda one and done effect
hb is 50% more produce
but what if u didnt have eit on each day
then the effect chance to proc is days the corp had it / total amount it needed to grow (not sure how it counts with multyharvests)
with speedy grow say ur bokchoi grows in 2 growthticks cuz speedygrow sped it up it then has 2/3 chance to get harvetsboost
i've been told per the other fertilizers the more you put down, the better effect you get. so i've never really understood how often you should put it down for max effect
Hi all! I'd lvoe to see if someone has a garden pattern to grow the necessary farming ingredients for Cabbage Rolls, Creamy Tomato Soup, and Soon Tofu. All three recipes need: 1 Cabbage; 1 Carrot; 1 Wheat; 1 Rice; 2 Onions; 1 Tomato; 3 Batterfly Beans; 1 Spicy Pepper. I'm still learning how to best place companion crops. I'd love it to be 100% Water Retain and Weedblock, without fertilizer. I'm not worried about harvest boost, if it happens on some crops it happens. If other crops are needed to make the Water Retain/Weedblock happen that's good too, but would prefer Bok Choi in the mix if needed, and/or apples if needed to fill out the pattern. Thank you all in advance!
they apply buff to get buff effect plant must have buff
sorry i meant what does hb and proc mean? i dont know the words
Harvest Boost.
You aren't guaranteed the effect if the crop hasn't had the boost every growth tick.
Say you have an Onion that had 1 harvest boost fertiliser put on it. It only had the boost present for 25% of the time it was growing, so you have a 25% chance of getting the extra 50% yield
Speedy Gro's extra day of growth doesn't give an extra days worth of harvest boost. So while you would be in day 3 of growth you'd still only have 2 days worth of the harvest boost buff.
HB harvest boost
proc = the effect happens
Proc just means if a buff triggers. Common gaming terms
Uh, yeah, effect not buff. Proc doesn't have to apply to only buffs
oh is proc short for something? or just a made up term like in general
it should be short for something but now its like a term on its own to me
According to Google, programmed random occurence
hahah gotcha. thanks guys, it makes a lot more sense to me now!
sometimes my brain fog takes over
Oh Duh, I've revamped my garden for Beans on Toast. RIP my old garden
interesting shoe me
Realistically, I could probably change 2 of the Beans for Blueberries for convenience (I think Ren said you need 13 Wheat to keep up with 1 Bean crop for Beans on Toast). But, I'm happy with 4 Beans crops, I'll just seed the excess now
And yeah, loads of Tomatoes, but they will go to my Ranch Animals
(And, symmetrical because that appeals to me)
-gives stamp of approval-
I may do the maths on whether it would be worth putting Speedy Gro on the Wheat tbh (well, except the 4 that need HB)
On average, I think I'd expect 22% more Wheat from the ones I Speedy Gro'd
But, it would put the 16 central Wheats out of sync from the corner ones...which, not sure I would want that
I'll see how well it performs with giving me good amounts of food. I'll consider it if I need more Wheat
Quick question for my farmers out there i forgotten how does one get "QualityUp Fertilizer" made so many and finally ran out so being such a long time i forgotten how to make them x'3
is it in the worm farm and just put high quality crops? If so does high quality wheat and high quality meat give QualityUp Fertilizer in the worm farm too ?
General Worm/Glow Worm Farm rule:
Savoury items give Harvest Boost,
Sweet items give Quality Up.
Higher value items give more (both worms and fertiliser)
Sweet item slike fruits right ? 😮
sweet stuff in wormers or craft on bench or horsies giving random fert
sweetlkeaf frutis cakes stuff like that jams
What stops u from growing em
But...we have been blessed with spuds!
You can buy Potato Seeds from Zeki
I live off pumpkin stew, potatoes and tomato are my money makers and I feed beans to ranching :3
do beans give animals better loot or smth?
Nope. Beans used to be really good as they were cost effective and restored a good amount of focus.
Many people even used them as their own focus foods (myself included - so convenient!)
However, the latest patch basically halved the focus they resore, making them way less cost effective now (and nowhere near as comvenient)
oh ok, i turn all my beans into seeds for money. just seeing if there was like..a more efficent way to use them, ty ^^
interesting. I've always been curious about weed protection, and how necessary it really is.
It's only necessary if you don't wanna have to bother with weeding your garden
Also, I see that the planner accounts for level 50? Is there a special bonus at level 50?
After level 25, if you use star seeds, you are guaranteed star crops even without the Quality Up buff
After level 38, even non-starred seeds give starred crops, no matter what.
Level 50 doesn't change anything as such
Oh I didn't know about level 38 thing, that's pretty cool!
Well, weeds seem to impact the watering buff a little, but I don't mind having to water a few spots here and there. Also, I sell weeds so that's a few more gold coins in my pocket lol
good to know! Thank you!
It also stunts growth
Oh. It doesn't bother me anyway, I haven't even taken notice lol
Thanks for the info
This looks great. I didn't realize turning fruit jam into worms was more lucrative. I've been selling my apple jam straight out. How many of each seed makers, glow/worm farms, and processors do you have to keep it all running?
Oh, I'm not sure. I just placed them around more on aesthetics than anything. I think I regularly use 3-4 jam machines, about 6-7 worm farms, 1 glow worm farm (though I mostly keep glow worms for fishing), and about 3-4 seed makers (sometimes more if I want to shorten the time, but I usually don't really care)
Thanks for the info. I was looking at the palia tracker website and just realized that the regular worm farms are more profitable than the glow worm ones. Looking forward to switching things up.
Hi am not sure if i should ask here or in the #🌱│gardening chennal about help with gardening. I am having trouble getting all the spots filled on for my gardening plot. I only have seeds that take up one space. Like carrots i can fill all but one spot for it. I have tried everything I can to get the last ine to plant but no matter what i do it will not plant. Any help will be very grateful. Below is a picture to show what i mean.
If you can't plant in that spot, can you try to till it again?
There could be a tiny bit of it not tilled, and that would block you planting a seed
Yes i have tried that. I will keep trying.
You could try (if you haven't already):
- Leaving the plot and returning
- Reloading the game
- Rotating the soil
- Trying to till again after all of these
Will try this and let u know.
Nope still nothing. I would like to get my gardening level uo to where i can get fruit but do to having trouble woth planting seeds i don't see it moving up much ar all.
This all i have been able to plant so far
This is unfortunate how it has been for a month now. Only get some many plated at ine time before i give up trying.
For a month?
Gosh...
And, if you move all the soils to the other side of the plot, guessing that doesn't help at all either?
All I can really say is you should make a player support ticket. It shouldn't be behaving like this, and I don't know why it is.
Make sure to reply to the email you get after submitting the report, as that seems to help.
I have tried moving the soils to different spots in the plot and it seams to do the same thing. My gardening level is at a 5 and i have not been able to get it up due to this issue.
I will after the ticket for the founders pack is done. I have an open ticket with game support. Thank u for trying to help.
You can have more than one ticket!
Oh ok. I will make another one for the garding.
My end result of trying
Hopefully support should be more help!
Hopefully. Thank u for trying to help. I just want to get it up so i can make the celebration cakes to help make money. At this rate i am like gardening can wait lol.
Honestly? Making cakes solo isn't great money. It's cake parties that are good.
And some roles don't need gardening
Being a night owl it's hard to catch the cooking parties. Gardening has been my nightmare for a while.
There are parties in all timezones pretty much... So I'd be surprised you can't join any
Ya I also have trouble catching them because I am a caregiver to my husband. I bounce up and down till he goes to bed. Most of the time that is not till 3 am or never lol.
Yeah, that definitely makes things more difficult. But I'm sure he appreciates your care!
I wouldn't advise cakes as a solo money making enterprise though.
Just make sure your crops have harvest boost, seed what you can and sell the seeds (later you'll unlock preserve jar too which is better for some crops)
Ok. I will try again with the fertilizer and sell any seeds i can. Right now i am cooking some meals to sell so i can try to get the next pick axe upgrade.
those of you selling bok choy seeds, how much gold are you making over night? i'm only making 4k over night with 8 makers, but the same amount of makers doing pickled potatoes and tomatoes i'm making 12k a night
whenever i look up best farming money makers bok choy seeds come up, but i'm making a lot less from them
hi all, sorry silly question - I am just getting into gardening and planning, do the fertilizer symbols below the crops in the garden layout planner mean you should use those fertilizers? I'm just trying to figure out what fertilizer is best to use on all plants for early game/general profit?
Bok Choy are not the highest profit per minute, but they are the highest profit per tile.
So essentially, if you can process everything without a backlog, Bok Choy is best. By a long shot.
8 seeders sounds low though, how many Bok Choy are you growing?
Also, how many hours a day do you play?
i've got my whole garden filled with bok choy. i only started growing them 2 days ago and i've been playing 6-10 hours a day probably
Correct, the fertiliser icon means use that fertiliser
In general, you want to only use fertiliser to fix gaps in your buff coverage
How early game gardening are we talking?
hmm, but if there are multiple fertilizer icons after a crop, you can only use one so, im unsure which to use?
well I say "early game" - I'm level 13 gardening, just starting to get into it properly shall we say to make some profit :)
Quite honestly, you almost certainly are making more money through Bok Choy that Potatoes, simply as Bok Choy sells for so much raw
With full Bok Choy, 6-10 hours a day, you would probably need near 30 seeders to keep up
What layout were you thinking of?
The generator gave me this one for now - I'm not caught up with story so don't have easy access to pumpkins/beans at the moment
I'll start swapping out all of my pickle makers(forgot what they're called lol). I just need to grind more resources to craft them
Oh, don't use the generator, that's not very good.
#🌱│gardening message is a post with some general tips, and has links to various layouts (well, links within links)
As for what layout to use, really depends on your priorities...
Anyone have a garden plan that have apples, blueberries, cotton, potatoes, the uuh salad, wheat, rice, pumpkins and uuh maybe tomatoes for water retention.. I want the most water retention and weed blocker possible
I'm too lazy to make a garden plan myself lol
To be fair, Bok Choy preserves are good too, and quicker to process
But finally I might do it
So more or less everything? Check out the post I just linked to bonbon, one of the compilation posts it links to is an 'Everything Garden' compilation, check those out
I'll go check it yes, thank you
Oh thank you! I'll check these out :-)
Hey all! For those of you who know how best to make layouts (cause frankly I don't fully understand how to best use the planner. I'd love for it to have me tell it what crops I want to grow and then have IT make the layout), I'm looking to grow the produce to make Cabbage Rolls, Creamy Tomato Soup, and Soon Tofu. If there's room for other crops I'd like to use Bok Choi and/or apples. Thank you all in advance!
Is there any way to remove all fertilizer from a dirt plot?
Pick it up I think? It needs to be completely untilled to do so though. Soil untills in 48 irl hours since it was last tilled.
Otherwise, you can place 1 different fertiliser on and get the stack back, but it will place the 1 fertiliser down.
I did try taking back all 9, didn't work, they were all still loaded with fertilizer. I haven't used it in a year and all my crops still come out starred
Easiest method is to use this sort of layout linked here #🌱│gardening message
Use a Spicy Pepper in one of the corners (essentially mirror the position of the Beans plant)
You may want an extra Beans in one of the other corners too, up to you.
Otherwise, replace potatoes with cabbage, replace Bok Choy with carrots
And are you sure that's because of fertiliser?
Past level 25, all starred seeds give only starred crops.
Past level 38, all unstarred crops give only starred crops.
Anything you can use unstarred crops for, you can use starred crops for.
Check the 'use starred ingredients' box for cooking (and if you don't want to use your starred spices, put those in your lockbox
So I'm just scrooed then?! Whoever designed the gardening system forgot people sometimes like to be nice and to gift unstarred produce, seeds and food to fellow players who might be struggling when they are new. But because I grinded my butt off to be an elite player I can no longer do that?
You can buy unstarred veg from Badruu. Seeds you can buy from Zeki.
Apple/Blueberries, you can get from Ferris (Ranching) and seeds from either Gardening Guild store for medals or from Wolpunny (Ranching)
It's like talking to a Galdur sometimes
No need to be rude.
I'm saying you are still able to acquire unstarred stuff to fill requests with.
So, answering the question you were asking.
If you think it's bad design, go tell the Devs via feedback
the people in gen chat gave you the same info. idk why you expected different information and neither do i understand why you're being rude
as a relatively new player I've gotten gardening to my first level 10 \o/
but now I have a question, what do I do with all my wheat/rice/starred cotton? I know preserves exist for stuffl ike my potatoes, carrots, onions, tomatos, etc. However I just kinda have 175 starred rice existing in my chest perpetually. Do I sell them or are there ideal recipes to make with them?
rice is really great for cooking parties if you want to join those to make some money!
Rice is used in a lot of recipes. So no harm keeping a bunch.
If you want to process and sell a lot, seed it and sell the seeds
That's fair, would the same apply to the wheat as well?
how about cotton and wheat?
I know processing cotton into fabric is a loss in value, so do I just sell starred cotton raw?
wheat can definitely be used in cooking parties and focus food dishes as well, the wiki has lists what it's uses are https://palia.wiki.gg/wiki/Wheat and the same goes for any other crop
ah alright, I'll peruse them too then and try to figure out what to do with a few other crops! Thank you
Wheat and Cotton are both best off seeded if you are processing them.
If you would use the Fabric, probably better off making the Fabric rather than selling the seeds...probably. And only if you would use it.
Thank you!
for profit - is it best to make seeds out of bok choy or preserves?
preserves, takes less time I think
making seeds with 1 bok choy takes an hour and 12 minutes and all 4 seeds sell for 45 gold (15 ea, non-starred) while preserves take 36 minutes and one jar is 45 gold
If you can process everything without causing a backlog, seeding Bok Choy gets you get most overall gold (43g profit from seeding as opposed to 22g profit per preserve)
Preserving Bok Choy gives minimally more profit per hour (36.66g Vs 35.83g), and is quicker.
(All numbers are for starred Bok Choy)
Basically, if you can, seed it.
But if you play a lot or don't have many crafters, preserving will process things quicker and get you a bit more money before you have to sell the overflow raw. Not much, but still more.
4 unstarred Bok Choy seeds would be 60 not 45
the wiki says otherwise lol maybe it's just wrong
oh wait I'm just dumb
HA I'm so bad at math ignore me
All good.
Hi, i alr buy all the plot to plant the crops, rn im planting rice, onion and tomato. I just want to ask is there any way to maximize the gold output only from the farming? Im using only 6 plot btw, im thinking to use all of them
Honestly the easiest way I've done it is just mono-cropping bok Choi and making.... so many seeds.
Bak choi? only those plant?
Yep, just planting only bok choi, turning them into seeds, and selling the seeds.
If you were to sell 30 bok choy kimchi how much would that make you?
Yeah, definitely ways you can optimise.
- Use the other 3 soil plots if you feel you have the energy to
- Use the Companion Planting buffs to ensure everything gets Harvest Boost (If you look at the Onions next to the Tomatoes, you see they have Water Retain, which comes from the Tomatoes. The Tomatoes next to the Rice get Harvest Boost. Crops don't give their buff to the same crops, so a Tomato doesn't give Water Retain to another Tomato but will to anything else). Lines rather than blocks of crops would be more effective here.
- I see you are using Quality Up Fertiliser. In order to get the effect, the fertiliser needs to be present every day - and it uses up one fertiliser a day. So your 1 QU has a 25% chance of actually giving its effect if you never top it up
- You could change the crop choices. Rice and Tomatoes are good cash crops, Onions not so much. As Sunny mentioned, Bok Choy is best for pure money, but you would need Harvest Boost on everything. I would advise getting Harvest Boost through Rice/Wheat instead, rather than Harvest Boost fertiliser as I have no idea how many worm farms you have running to make Harvest Boost fertiliser
Anyone else having issues getting onto the garden planner site?
Starred? 660g Profit over selling them raw (2010g total)
Seeds would give you 1290g Profit over selling them raw (2640g total)
No issues for me
I might as well sell them raw then
what site are u using ?
Apparently pickled potatoes and tomatoes make you a pretty penny too so I guess I’ll alternate between bok choy and them
If that works best for you, sure, but in general, processing crops before selling is worthwhile
yeah thats what im using get a " cant reach this page " error
That sucks. Unfortunately, I can't help with that...does a different device work maybe?
i see, i just planted those 3 for money making in cooking party, i ask the random for material used in it and they say those 3. Yeah im thinking to change the crop after this, maybe next crop would be bak choy
ok, Cooking Parties are different.
Hmm, refreshed the page a bunch of times and now it works... okay
between cooking parties and gardening, which is more good for money making? i didnt and never do yet cooking parties
dw, was typing that out
Not even Bok Choy comes close to the money you make from Cooking Parties. Because you only bring one ingredient and get 3 finished products, you make wayyy more money than you can by processing the crops yourself.
I'm not a cooking party person, but Onions, Tomatoes and RIce are definitely good options
Harvest Boost is still very much recommended though
What makes you the most money from cooking ?
im still struggling to make money with gardening in all honesty, i get mine from cooking parties
In a cooking party? Maws dishes. Obvisouly needs someone to donate a bunch of Maws though 💀
well yeah i just have 1 worm farm rn for harvest boost fertilizer, i need to grind more i guess
I seen somebody making starred cakes and selling them .. apparently that’s a money maker but wouldn’t that need a bunch of ingredients?
If you are cooking solo, nothing makes a lot of money. You are generally better off processing the crops into seeds or preserves as far as I remember
Cakes are good...but in a party.
Ah
The issue is that not everyone wants to help so I’m forced to do alot of things solo
You don't need to. You could do something like this (the Rice rows are rice-wheat-rice on repeat)
Everything has harvest Boost.
If you alternated the Tomatoes with Potatoes or cabbage in the same way, everything would have Water Retain buff (excpet the left most onion column)
If you alternated the Onions with Carrot s or Bok Choy in the same way, everyhting would have Weed Protection (except the right most Tomato column)
There are slightly more comlicated layouts that can get 100% coverage too
Alr thanks! I guess i wait for the crops to fully grown then i'll try this
For Bak Choy, is it just full of them or can u maximize it by growing with others plant?
#🌱│gardening message Follow the links to Profit oriented layouts > Aquajj's Bok Choy for the no fertiliser but effort intensive max Bok Choy (stategically placed Rice/Wheat so everything has Harvest Boost)
But if you plan to go to Cooking parties, Bok Choy isn't so useful
(I also don't actually recommend doing that layout personally, as for me it's wayyyy too much effort. But it is good money.)
Anyway, got to go
anyone good at making garden layouts? I'm struggling to make it work
I want 100% water retain and 100% weed block, with all crops but main focus is on apples (profit and I want to make an orchard), wheat (cooking), batterfly beans (cooking) and tomato (cooking)
I managed to make this but, it doesn't have 100% weed block
How do you get an Apple Seed?
I believe it's from the gardening guild store, I'm not sure though it's been a long timr
Naio and zekis lvl 3 friendship or gardening guild store at lvl 10
This one is mine if it helps ☺️
And before I had this one but simplified it
I have a bunch of everything gardens that are 100% water retain/weedblock, one of them might be to your taste #🌱│gardening message
@mint sandal
Thank you both! I'll save your ideas in my notes to look at when I have more energy
um so, i saw that i could nab batterfly beans from elderwood along with seeds... where do i get pumpkins? :D
Tams shop buy one seed it
Or maybe wolpunnys
Badruu veggy shop unlocks em after u got em before
aw oke
What is better for making money, batterfly beans or spicy peppers?
Beans. Ideally Seeded, but preserves aren't terrible tbh. Spicy peppers aren't great for profit
batterfly beans are better, the seeds are worth 90/135g with a 1 hour and 25minutes processing time vs. pepper seeds at 85/127g for a 1 hour and 40 minute processing time. in the preserve jars beans are 41/61g and can be consumed for 85/127 energy while peppers are 48/72g for 95/142 energy on consumption. beans also have a better long term buff of harvest boost where as the pepper's quality buff is basically useless at higher garedening levels.
I've noticed that I can apply multiple harvestboost fertilizers at once. Does it mean that the harvest boost effect is stronger if there's multiple on one plot or does it just carry on to the next cycle on that specific plot?
Yes, only if the crop can consume a fertilizer each day you have 100% chance of getting an increased harvest from it
As Flip said, you either get the buff or not (so it's never stronger). Each day, the crop uses 1 fertiliser. You need the buff present every in-game day to get the guaranteed 50% bonus yield.
Sorry for not being clear enough ahah, what I meant was that when I apply fertilizer, I noticed that I can apply it to the same slot multiple times, gaining "harvest boost 3" for an example. Does this mean that I can place down multiple harvest boost fertilizers to the one slot at once instead of coming back every in game day to reapply?
yes, exactly that
the crop will consume 1 unit every day at 6am
So if you put down fertilizer four times to make "Harvest Boost 4" and check back the next day it will have gone down to "Harvest Boost 3" with the growth tick
So if I have 100% water retain and weed block I can just throw down harvestboost fertilizer and come back to harvest boosted crops when it's ready to gather? Oh this will make things so much more simple!
absolutely 😃
maybe a silly question but does it matter if i put fertilizer on my plants before or after watering?
Nope. Doesn't make any difference. Just want it on the crop before the next 6am in-game (that's when buff effects are applied and the crop tries to grow a stage. And when the effects of fertiliser are applied
Ok so I have a flow tree farm. I have 6 rows of trees (well almost i have one more row to grow). But I am not good with the whole party thing, I always play by myself. But I wanted to do something that would benefit other players. So if anyone would be willing to help me with setting up and operating a party event I would be so grateful.
DM me
I would like to share the setup I made today, it seems to be better to me than all I've seen:
All-crops, No-fertilizer Stats: Water retain 100%, Harvest boost 100%, Quality boost 66%, Weed prevention 16%
Took me a couple of days to solve the riddle 🙂
It can probably be further optimized, but not by much: https://palia-garden-planner.vercel.app/?layout=v0.4_D-111-111-111_CR-WTPRCoPmTWPm-CrAAPmAAPmAA-ARWAPTACrCo-CbCrCoCrWBtCoPBt-CbTCoBtSSBtSS-PBBCbBBCrWCo-RCbCWCoOTPCr-WCoBCbPBRCoBk-BPCbBCrRPCbCo
I aimed at having at least 1 of each crop, with 100% water retain and 100% harvest boost. After that I aimed for quality boost, weed prevent is not worth it in my opinion, especially since weed gives money when you sell it.
Hope it helps someone!
P.S. I'm a professional Game Developer, so these things are naturally easy for me. Only recently in Palia
Does it matter when I apply fertilzier? For example if I add the increased quality as theyre already grown, do I get the increased quality? Or does it have to be added while they're growing, or after the inital seed plant?
fertilizers need to be applied at every growth tic (6am palia time) in order to get 100% effectiveness of the fertilizer, you can stack up to 99 units of the same type of fertilizer on the crops, the amount of fertilizer used is based on how many tiles the crop takes up, for example all of the 2x2s require 4 fertilizer per growth tic and apples take 9 all others only need 1
hello i'm returner palia and i am behind with gardening a bit soon to get jam currently level 7. what crop do you recommend to use for now? i am working on Bean to get seeds first before i do anything else. any tips will be appreciate thank you!
ah okay, tyty
whats a good crop to plant and sell for coins? for passive income cuz im not growing anything and idk what to
If you're not growing anything, then honestly anything you grow will be good.
Highest replanting effort but highest money is Bok Choy.
Lots of people like Apples because you can place and forget them essentially. Not as good for profit, they're just under average
okay i will get bok choy, and plant and sell. what about for worm? i just unlocked it what do i put in there
I would advise adding a few other crops, at minimum Rice/Wheat to get Harvest Boost on everything so that you get 50% more crops when harvesting, like this #🌱│gardening message
You can also consider tomatoes/potatoes for making everything water retaining
And if you want no weeds too, this is a great setup #🌱│gardening message
what about the worm one?
Depends.
Are we talking basic Worm Farms or Glow Worms?
Do you want fast worms, low effort worms or high profit worms?
If you want worms quickly, as the number you get depends on the value of the item put in, you want high value items. Foods from profit-based cooking parties or grilled fish work well for this.
If you want lower effort, then if you use the worms for fishing, using the fish you would otherwise sell to grill and worm is essentially recycling the fish.
If you Ranch, the stuff you get from the animals is slow but reliable glow worms (and tends to be good profit if you were to sell it). Of course, using jams is still a low effort option for glow worms.
For maximal profit, it's glow worming eggs/milk/shrooms from Ranching, cheap forage or meats/shrooms from hunting. Then sell all the fertiliser and glow worms.
i just want normal worms to fish
what do i put in the machine thing
If you want them now, buy them from Zeki.
If you want them quickly, read above. Higher value items in = more worms out
If you have food from cooking parties, they can be good. I tend to use Grilled Fish if I want quick worms.
But I get a lot of produce from my Ranch, so I generally just glow worm that and buy regular worms if/when I need them
is there any crops i could use for the worm bin
Of course. You don't generate loads of worms, but if you preserve your crops then put them into the worm farm, that's going to give you a steady supply
https://palia.wiki.gg/wiki/Worm_Farm has a list of how many worms you can get from things you put in, including all the preserves (and whether they are starred or not)
is this still valid?
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1GyPgetnBlxypFaYzvGSyhGPntXnpMxsm_q8zvXYHEqg/edit?tab=t.0#heading=h.4rn3fsx0rkaz
was this used to sell or sumn
Wow, they don't like Weed Protection.
They're all valid layouts. Nothing has changed since then.
Though, I personally wouldn't use Cotton after level 10 or so (rarely even before that, but that's personal preference)
In this channel we tend to recommend layouts with 100% Harvest Boost, Weed Protection and Water Retain (the exception being the ultra lazy layouts where you only gather Apples and Blueberries)
#🌱│gardening message is a post with links to various compilation posts by people in this channel
Hello, is this layout good? I need a ton of coin to grind and a lot of cotton to make. Or is there any good alternative layout you guys can recommend for me?
Oh no, my twisted trees just reverted all the way from their biggest stage back to seeds! Why is this happening?
theyre bugged sadly
anyone know where I can get pumpkin seeds? from baadru?
Tamala's store in EW
TQ!
Oh man I didn't even think about putting fish in there!
I ended up with a bazillion starred yellowfin tuna from trying to get the starred unicorn fish.
Good to know XD Ive been buying pumpkins from baadrus shop and turning them to seeds lmao
Honestly, that's a better way to do it, but I think you might have to get 1 Pumpkin seed from Tamala first? At least, someone said that once, but I haven't verified it
I havent been to EW yet and it let me ^^
Ok goodvto know we the recommend that
Have they ever stated they would ever allow us more plots for gardening? I’d love to have more than 9🤣 maybe like 20. Or since they like weird numbers 19 will work too.
Think they said no
My kimchi layout lol
Looking to add more jars soon, since I just bought more crafter space
My 9th plot is currently star apples
You might appreciate this layout #🌱│gardening message
I'll keep it in mind. The layout I use has the advantage of being in sync on a 3 tick cycle. The difference is maybe 1k, which I could make up if I use the last plot
Hello, anyone has a Twisted tree planted on their plot? I have one... Planted, watered all the way until fully grown and then it goes back seed stage again. Grew that same tree 5 times already!
It's driving me crazy! Is it a glitch? 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks, @granite karma
Hi ! I'm looking for a good layout with low maintenance for the garden ! Using apple trees !
I saw a few things, but I see a lot of layouts using rice and wheat.
like this one : https://static0.thegamerimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/9x9-afk.jpg
If it's good, great... but if you've got another idea, I'm curious.
plus, in this layout, shall I harvest wheat and rice ? or not ?
I'm open to using the Harvest boost fertilizer 🙂
