some are found in people's rooms after level 3 friendship (not everyones rooms), some are found around the map, and some are found from fishing, but you'll get plenty just from leveling up cooking

Spread the stations out, move chests a little away. Always start cooking when you log in if a simple recipe fails, log out and back in. The longer you are logged on switch the more bugs tend to happen right now.

I built a second harvest house, and when it was unable to connect to the main house I made it my stand alone cooking building. I have had a lot fewer issues.

Is there something I'm missing? I've tried making bacon stuffed mushrooms multiple times, and when I go to flip the first time, it just keeps circling around no matter how many times I hit the target, until I eventually just time out of the recipe? Do I have to do all the other prep before I can flip at all?

Aside from slicing high quality meat with lag... Cooking is more about being on top of the steps and you usually have lots of time if you know the recipe. The first time making celebration cake was hectic lol, but now it's easy.

But I have to say, the amount of sweet leaf required for cooking and crafting is way higher of a demand than the spawn rate. At least at the moment.

When someone says they need like, "Frosters" for cake, and to lock certain item in lockbox, does that mean they ONLY do the frosting task? I have never done a cake party. Also, I swear I've seen the word Overprep? What does this entail?

right, if the role says "Frosters" then you would have the item that that station would need and put anything else in the lock box so your inventory doesn't see it. it could mess up the timing for the rest of the stations if you accidentally make something other people made

Overproducers are folks that make an extra item for the recipe that are not actually needed. For example, if an overproducing leafer creates a crushed sweet leaf that is not used, they still get the cakes. From the wiki

So I solved the cooking issue (error trying start this recipe). When crafting, if you craft multiples of an item, your multiplier gets stuck on that number. So when you go to cook, your multiplier is trying to cook x (however many items you crafted) amount of that dish. Sooo to resolve this craft a singular of an item at your crafting table before cooking.

It’s not caught before you start cooking because the dish only requires the person who starts it to have certain items.

I had that happen to me earlier. That’s how I figured out the “error trying to start this recipe” problem. After I crafted the singular item at the crafting table (I crafted smoke bombs) it didn’t give me the issue anymore 🤷🏻‍♀️

Haha. Because your recipe was trying to cook multiples. Not just the x3 you usually get from cooking. If you had enough of the ingredients it would have tried to cook more of that one recipe. So you could have ended up with 15 of the same dish, or 6 of the same dish.

By crafting the one item it brought your multiplier back to x1. So you’ll get 3 of the dish. 😁 thanks for helping double verify this is the problem!

Not for the first time, I'm encountering an "error trying to start this recipe" and it's ruining my chances as making the items for Fit For A Watcher, also losing the quality items I've tried collecting. Just getting two Stared Spice Sprouts was a whole quest on its own

Go to your crafting bench and craft a singular item. There’s a bug with the multipliers. Then cook from there. 😁

It’s carrying over when you craft at the crafting table. So if you were crafting say x5 of the smoke bombs (or 100 bombs) your recipe is now trying to cook x5 of that recipe. (Giving you a total of 15 of the recipe versus the usual 3). So it’s trying to pull enough ingredients to craft x5 of that recipe.

Are sweet leaf and spice sprouts just so hard to stock up on because of the new players, I am one admittedly. It's just given how many things need sweet leaf I just can't seem to get more than 10 a day... It's rough with baking and bug bombs. Spice sprouts appear often enough but I end up running circles for a long time lol.

Well I can confirm, on switch at least, that the kitchen won't use your last star ingredient. You can move it to lockbox during cooking to access non star versions. It also can be finicky about 5 or less of things like sprouts, leaf, clove, root when using star grade. I've saved myself from ruining a few by shuffling star ingredients to lock box. Fruit, meat, veggies etc all the same.

I was able one time to free myself from being locked at the station by activating the overhead edit mode and moving my kitchen building (all of my stations are in a separate building) , after moving and cancelling the move I was free. I have not been able to test it again.

I can also say the flip mini game on the stove is crazy the ball will not stop...pressing H or HH still makes you loose the game and soooo..its back to campfire cooking and pickles for me.

not a fan of the cooking mechanics from the beginning but I have achieved level 29 cooking on campfire cooking......fish, shrooms, brew, congee...... gilled meats....its a life!

Thanks but I have cooked with friends and it works fine, but for some reason when i am cooking it just goes haywire and you can not make the ball stop.... there needs to be a way to exit the mini game when it does that....not only to say it but when you are chopping a gazzillion items for the poke bowl, sometimes if someone helps me we use double the ingredients even though there is a hand to let us know what was chopped..some of it is just janky, never knowing really how the recipe is to go, and then other parts put ingredients that don't even belong in that recipe...so some of the cooking is borked.

That's the thing, it cannot be, bc the more trees there is in an area, the more chances there is for a flow tree to spawn!
For example, south of Tamala's, there is nearly always at least 1 flow tree there without any cutting. So, I was just wondering if there is a sheet of sorts addressing these chances

everyone gets 3 food if things go as expected and everyone gets the exp but youre splitting resources across several people so its cheaper for everyone

The Muujin Bahari requires the muujin meat and heat root to be HQ when you click the hq button

I think a big part is balancing out the cost of crops, if you are able to maintain a self sustaining supply of seeds then crops cost only time. That probably tweaks a fair number of the calculations.

In general, cooking solo is not very profitable, its much easier to make money cooking with others, even just one additional person, because it reduces the ingredients you are required to add, but you still get the same result. One of the most profitable is grilling (on the campfire) unstarred fish. Because you will sometimes get starred grilled fish, which is a 50% increase in value.
As far as ingredients cost for focus, I'm a fan of Tomato Soup. It's a Reth friendship award you find in his storehouse. It uses cheap ingredients, only one store-bought item, and is 412 focus when starred.
I also like Sernuk Stew, an Ashura friendship reward, because it has no store bought ingredients. Just hunt, garden and forage you can get all the ingredients to make the meal.

Sorry to butt in, but growing your own crops is always the better option as once you hit 25+ farming all of your crops will be star quality 🙂

When you select the U'se star-quality ingredients' it will automatically use any star-qulity ingredients you have, but it will still use unstarred if those are available. It's completely normal to make the soup with starred onion, wheat, tomato but unstarred spice sprout.

Plus once you can make seed extractors, farming becomes even more profitable because your farm becomes 100% self-sufficient 🙂

I have a question about everything growing star quality after level 25. Perhaps it is profitable to use all grown star ingredients to produce seeds, and to grow by buying seeds without quality in the shop? Or is it unprofitable and better to plant the same star quality?

Once you have a seed-extractor, you will want to get all of your seeds from your own crops. Buying seeds is always less-profitable. Also, your seeds from your star crops are almost guaranteed to be star-quality.

And some star crops are actually more profitable to turn into seeds and sell than to sell outright.

For an indoor kitchen, this is what I use as a "studio kitchen" Chic Tables work really well for lining up with the stations.

For my outdoor kitchen, I was still able to fit in 8 mixing stations, 2 stoves, 5 prep stations and 3 ovens with enough room to be comfortable and that should be able to cover any kind of party in the game.

I'm looking through the Palia Wiki and wanted some clarification: do some quests or gift requests come long before you get access to a recipe? I was looking up Congee, which has been mentioned several times, but it doesn't unlock until after you get decently far into the story? Is that right? ||I'm on the main quest of cooking the food for the investigators, which the Wiki shows the recipe for congee is a reward a little bit after that, but I remember someone asking for congee the day I started playing.||

Weeklys are the same for every player so they can be things you haven't unlocked yet. For quests you can just wait until you have the recipe unlocked since there's no rush on those

No, it’s not, just looked up the recipe and there aren’t many things u could add starred, I would recommend trying recipes, which have more veggies in them and use starred ones

starred flowers and herbs glow brighter than usual, you can tell its a starred by looking at it.

If you ever freeze after starting a recipe - hit H on PC to go to plot planning mode and then go back. This will help u unfreeze

just make sure you check the server the party is being hosted in. you currently can only join someone's plot if you're in the same server. so, there's NA (north america), EU (europe) and APAC (asia pacific).

I have fixed this issue by entering overhead edit mode. Sometimes that's enough, other times I move my building with my cooking stations over a little bit and it unsticks

The third time i tried to make the petit fives, the game crashed, my character couldnt move and the countdown was still going so i had no choice but to waste ingredients again and quit the game
