guys i have a question. yesterday i was gonna farm bugs in bahari and when i got to the spot there were some people there already. i stood there and someone started jumping in my direction and i thought it was an invitation. when their lure ended, i dropped another cause i thought that would be fair, but then one of them got real frustrated and started saying i ruined the mantis spawn. they said it was because they were in five people?? i didnt get it so i just apoloziged, let them w the lure and hopped to another server. but can someone explain to me why is that? i dont wanna spoil anyones fun and this situation got me upset cause they didnt explain properly, they were just mad at me

i felt like its the same problem with the pot game in ug; people usually get mad when someone join a spam table and doesnt spam, but people forget that this is an open world online game, we're dealing w lots of people from lots of countries and w different experiences in palia. i have over 400h in the game and still didnt know about the lure thing i mentioned in the previous message

It sounds like, based on your description, they meant they were a party of 4, and since you were not in their party (the fifth person), any loot you took down that they didn't get a chance to hit, means they didn't get a loot bag. This can sometimes cause people to be upset as they miss out on loot.

Not sure what they mean about "ruining the mantis spawn," as the number of people taking down bugs only helps spawn more bugs. Perhaps there was a natural mantis spawn nearby and it got spooked when you arrived? Some people may get upset about the natural spawn being spooked if they're doing the "milkshake method."

Ultimately, in either situation, it's not your fault for not knowing nor your responsibility to know what their personal preferences were for that specific scenario as you were just loading into the server, etc. Some folks are very protective of their resources and time, and may act out in non- productive ways. You made the best decision by moving on and away from them. Don't take it personally, because you had no way of knowing if they chose (or couldn't due to console, etc) not to communicate to you.

Yeah definitely, it makes perfect sense that it can be upsetting. As a veteran player who does a lot of bugging, I also can't tell ya what setting another lure down would have done to "ruin the mantis spawn," so I think chalking it up to these folks had personal preferences that you didn't know and blocking/moving to new server was the right move!

The fastest way to get lots of essence is teaming up with 2 other people, one with a guiding lantern, one with a bag of illusions and one with a brighteye amulet. I need a gossamer veil moth, a spitfire cicada, and a Rainbow-tipped butterfly

For the spitfire cicada, I’ve been looking around ||Bahari Bay, specifically, around juniper trees|| but I haven’t seen any.

For the Rainbow-tipped butterfly, the wiki says to check ||on the cliffs above Pavel Mines. Is this the same place as the cliffs above Hodari’s House?|| I’m not sure I’m searching in the right spot. I found a lot of night moths, but no special butterflies.

For the gossamer veil moth, I think I’m probably just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Best bet is hopping into Kilian as soon as 9pm hits, popping a buzzy, and running around in these locations. If you don't see a hit for it there, hop servers and look again.

go to kilima at 6pm, activate a buzzy jar. and run around (the spot where hassian hangs out, cemetary, farm and round again)... you should get one fairly quickly. Best way is to also bring a lure or 2, when you find one, don't kill it. plant alure nearby and fish for a starred one... this way you kill both achievements in 1 stone 🙂

For the starred scale for the quest, fine arrows do the most damage so it's better to use them, especially if you're solo hunting (4 fine arrows for 1 blue ogopuu).

Hunting in a party certainly makes it faster and easier to kill the ogopuu. Otherwise, it's all RNG on when that starred scale drops.

I have heard other players say you can lure them, as long as the lure is next to trees. I haven't tried myself, so can't confirm at the moment. BUT in theory, they should be able to be lured due to the 'secondary spawn' changes they made to honey lures last August or so -- it's why we can lure ladybugs, proudhorn beetles, and golden glory bees off lures now.

That was the last bug I needed of all the bugs for achievements. No real advice except you'll find one eventually, probably when you stop looking. You can try buzzy jars, they show up with those.

Hi all, still on the hunt for a spitfire cicada. I took your advice to try and use a smoke candle. I also had a buzzy jar going, which I wasn’t sure if that would pick up these insects or not. No luck there. Is it better from your experience to just pick a spot and stay there and see if a cicada spawns in, or, run around Bahari Bay in the hopes of randomly stumbling across one?

I feel like I’ve made multiple runs across southern Bahari Bay and had no luck.

I used buzzy jars and stayed in the south. I'd go in bahari from kilima and just run in an anticircle direction round towards the mine entrance and then back to hodaris house and repeat. I actually found my first one down next to the sand but since then I've seen them a lot more towards hodaris house. When you get close to a buzzy jar icon, just slow down because they're a pain once startled. If you need help, drop me a DM and I'll run some buzzy jars with you 😊

Thanks for your reply! To make sure I understand you right, what did you mean by the mine entrance? Do you mean the southern entrance to Pavel Mines? If that’s what you meant, isn’t that close to Hodari’s House?

I understand what you meant by an anticircle, but I wasn’t sure if you meant to concentrate around the Pavel Mines/ Pulsewater Plains area, and ignore Hideaway Bluffs, Windy Ruins, and Beachcomber Cove.

I’ve spent most of my time in Beachcomber Cove, and some in Pulsewater Plains. I’m mostly running from juniper tree to juniper tree. 😆

So I was just starting at the O and following that route over and over (obviously tracking any bug icon inside that area too). I managed to get a lot of rare bugs using the buzzy jar which meant a lot of silk thread which led to lots of thread to use or sell, or both. Hopefully that explains it better. 😊

No bother at all. I just found going outside of that you were getting a lot of hairy centipede things whereas in that area were bugs I needed. The spitfire is only on orange trees so that area had the bulk of them. Good luck!

It's possible you got that one (raspberry beetle) from Badruu as a quest reward instead of catching it yourself. You can try putting it in your inventory and serving hopping a couple times to see if it registers, I heard before that can fix it

In the Elderwood, where would be the best place to drop a honey lure to get a sunburst batterfly? I know they’re supposed to be along the area of Mitana grove, Jeunesse pass, and Deep woods, but was wondering if there was like a really good spot

The best place to drop a honey lure for Sunburst Batterflies is the central platform/small cliff in Mauvis Way where the Schmoles are, or high, flat cliffs within Mitana Grove. These spots keep bugs spawning in a concentrated area, preventing them from flying far away during the day. 6am to 6pm.

It's more about the spawn is cleared for duskwings to come in, the captured butterflies don't "attract" the duskwings in anyway. Plus blue butterflies shouldn't be spawning right now in Maji Hollow on honey lures, as S6 updated the spawn rate and only duskwing butterflies spawn on honey lures ATM

The spawn rate has been increased, and blue butterflies no longer spawn in the same area, so lures no longer spawn blue butterflies either.

It took about 5 lures in a party less than one in game day for me to get all 10 duskies.

I was very anti-slowdown arrows and thought they were useless, but then I tried them on the medium chapaas, and it turns out they really help lol. Takes an extra one or two, but I'm actually able to hit them, so it works out. The lowest tier chapaas only take one shot with standard or fine arrows. The blue ones, spook them so they split, hit any of the copies with a dispel arrow, that'll leave just the real one dazed, and then just keep shooting that one.

Ogopuus just take a lot of hits. Setting up ammo to start with one slowdown helps but is too much work for me. I just use fine arrows and try to sneak up behind them so i can get a couple shots in before they start running. Being in open areas helps. Hunting with other people helps too.

Geh um 3 Uhr zu Majis Hollow und suche einen Duskwing, manchmal braucht es ein weilchen bis sie spawnen, falls du keinen findest kannst du auch server hoppen :)
wenn du einen gefunden hast fang ihn nicht ein, stelle in der Nähe einen Honigköder auf - wenn der ursprüngliche Duskwing noch frei rum fliegt wird der Honigköder weitaus mehr neue Duskwings spawnen, darunter auch häufig welche mit star-quality. Auf Youtube gibts auch einige Anleitungen dazu :)

There's a hunter's horn, but I'm not sure if it shows wavebacks. They're generally easy to find though because there's only two areas where they spawn (Deep Woods or Bog/Mauvis Way), and I believe there's always one on the map. So when one disappears, another will spawn. If you're running around one of those areas and not finding one, it's probably in the other area.

A note about hunting the Ogopuu Wavebacks Solo, I always use the Slime Potion, Bag of Illusion and sneak up fire Slowing arrow first (important to slow them down) then fine arrows for the take down always pushing forward towards them (because Slime Potion), maybe this can help folks.

Nope. You get one from a quest, beside that, it's not possible. If you accidentally got rid of the one from the quest but still want a starred one I suggest contacting support to see if they can help you out

Has anyone on here actually completed these boards lately? The first ones weren't bad but TEN STARRED duskwing butterflies? I've been playing since the day this game released and ive never caught a single one. I feel like they're making it so only people who like play for hours and hours and hours every day can complete these. And I just can't play that much. I got a job and 2 kids man. I hadn’t played in a while and I get on and see this board and it just seems impossible for people who can't invest that much time but still like to play.

They patched how the lures work in MH where the duskwings are found. The lures there don't attract common blue butterflies, the only air insects are the duskwings. This makes it a lot easier to get them, still rng for starred ones, but A LOT easier to get them.

Honey bee lures or buzzy jars are my go to option...when I was looking for starred bugs for the mastery accomplishment, I ended up making silk for a few days because I had that much thread thanks to buzzy jars. Honey bee lures provide nice amounts too with the chance of plushies.

They definitely made starred duskwings much easier to find with lures. It took me days to get 10 for the board...this took me 20 mins to get 8.

It depends which bugs you're looking for. Some bugs only spawn during certain times. If you're just trying to level up and the type of bug doesnt matter, you can drop one at any time

I ran another 5 lures after these and got 7 starred also. So I was averaging around 1 star per lure, although some had none, some had multiple.

10 lures in H4 (i think it is, corner of the maji area) and you should get 10 starred easily enough.

You get 4 requests per day, I just request things like lures when i don't even want them so that when I do want them, I have plenty. Never waste those requests, even if you need nothing at the time. 😊

No problem, good luck. There's a place between chapaa crossing and mayor estate, like a broken pillar, that's good for a lure too. They only spawn on that pillar so just spam bombs and usually get one there too.

You don't need to start/activate/etc it, just hunt or fish and it'll count :-)

As a side note, you don't enter your login information every time you play Palia while on Xbox. Once you link a palia.com account to your character, you just press play as you normally do.

The main system where you login each time is the native Palia Launcher on PC. All other platforms are linked to a single character and no sign in is required.

RnG can be such a small dog sometimes. I got mine running around in bahari when the fairy mantis plush released and everyone was doing honey lure everywhere every time.

You need a huge amount of people trying to catch bugs to maximize your chances, try K0K0s parties, they do every week , multiple days

Shmole Spores and Ogopuu Scales are needed for very few things (some quests I think), but you should be able to sell most of the ones you find. Ogopuu Skins are needed for several decor items EDIT: and also some quests.

A little bit into the current patch, they pushed a hotfix: now common blue butterflies no longer spawn (at all) in the Dragon Shrine area.

When you remove an unspookable common spawn from the spawn table, that leaves only 2 spookable common bugs, the uncommon, and the rare.

As a result, it's easier to "reroll" the 20 bugs that show up to a lure, and you see the duskwing much more frequently. :D

Where do I go to catch the ancient horned beetle? I know bahari but like are there any good spots that the wiki doesnt talk about?

They spawn randomly in the north and show up on a buzzy jar, and they can also be one of the grove spawns BUT

• If you're solo, easiest strategy is to chop juniper trees (the twisty ones with orange leaves), which has a chance to spawn them
• OR if you're in a party, place a honey lure near a juniper tree and the lure will attract them. Keep in mind that they are epic rarity, so they won't show up in droves or anything

Putting the lure up on a cliff where there aren't any Common Blue Butterflies/Kilima Night Moths may make this easier, since the common bug will be crickets instead (easy to spook and turn over the lure spawn table)

H3ish can be pretty good for that; you could try the southern cliffs of Flooded Fortress, too (maybe place a lure or two while waiting for the grove, even)

I was able to spawn them with lures in the Outskirts when I was still trying to catch a starred one. I don't even think there were juniper trees around, but that's just an area where they can spawn.

I don't think it was a reply to you, just them celebrating their nice catch :) For a starred rtb I recommend joining rtb plushie hunts if you don't mind multiplayer, if you want to do it solo I recommend using a buzzy jar in south bahari at 3am, around the pulsewater plains area. In the image, the red areas are common spawn spots, and the blue line is a recommended route to run

Hello! I am almost at my wits end I have managed to get EVERY bugs in Palia star quality …. except for Rainbow Tipped Butterfly… I have been trying for hours to find one, running around the souther side on Bahari Bay in the spawning time with no luck! And once it DOES show up, it’s just a regular one!

Any tips to have I can finally get a star quality RTB so I have finally get the last bug colletion item?

The info on focusing on bombing down blue butterflies as you see them is also good. Furthermore you can team up with a few other people (also using buzzy jars) to do the same thing, and each run around in a specific area so you see the RTB as soon as it spawns. (This is if you prefer not to do honey lures for them, which works, but you need enough people who can clear the blues fast enough so the lure doesn't fill up with them, and also to be careful not to miss the RTBs that spawn, as they spook easily and run FAST)

Try to join a bug catching party. More RTB will spawn when more people bomb stuff lol, meaning more chance to get a starred one

The red circles are their common spawn locations, I tend to put lures in the little area surrounded by hills (the middle couple circles). The blue line is a suggested route to follow if you use buzzy jars instead of lures

I forget if it's C3 or D3 in Bahari, but there's one spot where there is an ancient pillar kind of leaning against the top of the hill. If you place the bee lure just right on a triangle-shaped facet of the hillside near the pillar, the bees ONLY spawn on the top of the pillar (and not on multiple levels around it). It's like shooting fish in a barrel.

You may need to turn foliage down or off to be able to see the triangle.

Alternatively, there's the leaning pillar at H7 near Einar's cave in Kilima

A4 cliffside is a great spot, there's lots of infected beetles and frogs there.
Bag of illusions, brighteye, and lantern are most helpful, idol isn't important when luring since it tracks.

FINALLY!!!! I FINALLY HAVE COMPLITED MY KILIMA AND BAHARI BAY BUG COLLECTION!!!!!

Not only did a star quality rtb show up, but TWO in a matter of 30 minuts!!! Only that the first on I manage to shot down glitched throgh the map, so I was not able to collect it! Honesly, at that moment I litterly though I was gonna cry!!! Thankfully did the second one show up like around 15 minuttes later!!!

For other that also have issues getting this infamous butterfly, my advice; Buzzjar and just bomb all the blue butterflies! That did the trick in the end it seems!

Most rare bugs share spawns with commons, so for example if you're hunting rainbow tip butterflies whether normally or in a lure, you want to also scare off common bugs and catch blue butterflies (since they can't be spooked) to increase odds.

Some bugs also only spawn in specific areas and/or at specific times of day so I recommend looking them up if you're not finding any of the type you want
