I know it wouldn't effect the proudhorn one cause I assume the higher spawn rate doesn't effect ones that only spawn with breaking nodes, but with normal ones it would make more bugs and each bug would still have the same chance or dropping a plush, right?

It's just RNG, sometimes it's on your side, but for the most part, it probably won't be

The proudhorn beetle spawns with lures in Kilima now.
I have been lucky sometimes where I hit a random bug while running around and it drops a plush but the most success I’ve had is with lures. How I see it is, lures spawn more bugs so more chances to roll the RNG dice and possibly get a plush.
I have pretty good luck with sernuk but they are a grind sometimes. Esp the elder sernuk plush. Just keep clearing any you see and eventually it should drop one. The rate is apparently a 1/500 chance of getting a plush for them though, same with the regular sernuk plush. I do find tier 2 plushies take longer to drop though. I hunted around 2.5 hrs in Bahari today and eventually got an elder plush. Also good to keep in mind if you’re hunting sernuks in Bahari and there’s a lot of other ppl hunting too, it’s better to hop servers if you’re planning on grinding for a bit.

hi guys! were the bugs always able to get into rocks/mountains out of nowhere, being unable to get caught when they do so, or is this a new bug?

i lost so many smoke bombs for no reason because they just run into the direction of a boulder and get inside that said boulder and never come out again, and no I don't mean when they are despawning, it just happened to me exactly after the bug got out of the dizziness from the smoke bomb and one second later it was in the boulder

It used to happen more often and at least now most of the time they reemerge unless you are in specific areas (like above Pavel mines). WHERE they reemerge is an issue though, they do so quietly and if it’s an unobstructed area they can appear too far from where they disappeared. But yeah it used to be much much worse. Like those millipedes that appear while mining, there was like 40% chance (not exact statistic but it felt like it) it would disappear

I have been trying to get a starred ogopuu scale for days now for a quest and I can't seem to get any to drop. Meat? Yes. But no scales. Is there a specific one or thing I need to do or is it just RNG?

If it's the blue starred scale, just hunt exclusively the blue ogopuu. It took me a while too so it is just rng, but just keep hunting the blue boys and you'll get it eventually. Don't waste your arrows on the green or waveback if you don't need their scales rn.

You can't catch a star one. The star bug is unique. I cried to devs. I eventually got a replacement for the one I accidentally either deleted or gave to someone who wanted it as weekly gift when I was a noob. Sent in evidence pictures of my plot, my inventory, my storages to show there was no bug.

Quickest is to join a bug catching party using lures (or use lures yourself if you have them, but often people ask how to level up so they can get lures haha).
Otherwise, catch everything you see. It will level up.

No, you get it as a quest reward. If you select and get the fish you can get the bug from a puzzle in the same temple.

If you select the bug for quest reward, you can do the same puzzle and get the fish instead. Proof of magic is the quest for the bug.

Definitely can't catch a starred one. Elouisa may give you a starred one during the quest line depending on choices, or else you get the starred fish from Caleri. As Troviian said, you get the other in a chest hidden behind a puzzle that opens up after you get one of them

Not sure if it's the most efficient but I got a lot from using a buzzy jar in kilima in the evening to the morning. And collect princess Lady bugs and fire breathing dragon flies. One morning I legit caught 4 dragon flies and 3 princess bugs running from mirror pond to the coast.

I also go to bahari with a lure at 3am-6am and catch a bunch of azure grasshoppers or millipedes near the mine and house.

For RTB, route running is what I found the best way to find one. I never use lure for those and I've found hundreds of RTB at this point. Not many starred, like 15 in total. But hundreds regular ones.

My tip is don't. Do a quest for Auni and he gives you a starred one

For actually catching it... I've heard people say that Jewelwing only spawns once every 30 irl mins once caught, so if that's true then it's probably a case of server hopping and running to the spawn point.
I would be surprised if it did work this way though, as it would be the only bug to do so.

But as I never needed to properly hunt the starred one, I can't say how it was from experience

You can only have a single relic equipped, so as long as you can find parties with people who can be flexible, then you don't need to worry too much.
And the main ones for lures are Bag of Illusions and....is it amulet that boosts essence? Always confuse amulet and idol haha
Lantern is an added bonus in the party too, but less essential.
Having more upgraded just gives more flexibility in who you can party with

Same here. What really helps me is planning out strategy with whoever I party with ahead of time. Like, if going after muujin, I offer to chop and they shoot, I'll follow them so they lead, etc. Then I don't have to rely on communicating as much during. I will say, I've never come across anyone who gave me trouble for taking awhile. They're nice here 🙂

It's not a bug, pun intended you get those bugs from lure these days. S6 balanced lures so a bigger variety of bugs will spawn. I use lures at the stone right of einars door. Some people say ontop of cliff above einars house aswell.

I tend to mostly farm Mauvais Way, but there is only 1 Waveback per map. It could be in Mauvais, De Mer Dock, Deep Woods or Miltana Grove. When you kill it, another spawns somewhere. So you have to check everywhere for Waveback really

of course! sometimes i sell half a stack of hides and upgrade the other half. it just depends on if i need the coins asap or can wait awhile before needing them. for example, i sell all of my regular blueberries and then turn half of my gold star stack into jams. then half the second half for selling and seed preserver machine! i try to keep all of my machines running to make me extra $$$

Is there any difference between regular Ogopuu and the ones that drop star-quality skin or meat? I need star-quality Ogopuu skin for a quest, but I’ve been farming them like crazy and still haven’t gotten one.

Hi! There is no star quality ogopuu skin, do you mean scale, perhaps? If so, there 3 types of ogopuu and each of them can drop their own scale both regular and star versions. Blue ogopuus drop ogopuu scale, emerald ogopuus emerald ogopuu scale and waveback (black with some blue on it) can drop waveback ogopuu scale. So depending on which scale you need you should be hunting respective type of ogopuu.
Star version of ogopuu meat can be dropped by any type of ogopuu, though I’m pretty sure it’s a higher chance to get it from wavebacks

I'm having trouble getting rainbow-tipped butterflies. Ran all over in a triangle between pulsewater plains, hideaway bluffs and Najuma's workshop smiting every bug in sight for a whole in game day. Not a single spawn. Are they just that rare or am I not looking in the right place?

There was also a honey lure party in the area and tons of lures were dropped. Lots of azure crickets but not a single rainbow butterfly.

If you aren't having any luck with jars or lures try being the first one to the grove in BB they appear at those sometimes, it wasn't an option when I was trying to achieve mine

Use buzzy jar for spitfire cicada, they spawn on juniper trees in south bahari and sometimes in flooded fortress, easy to miss. For Brighteye also buzzy jar, in North Bahari, they are also easy to miss and are fast fliers. For fairy mantis you might have luck with using honey lure, but buzzy jar also works. Probably will need several of either

With how rare RTB is, it's only natural for random theories on ways to spawn it to pop up.
The milkshake method is a relatively common theory for some RTB party hosts.
Personally, I don't believe a word of it, with RNG, everything is random afterall and this is likely to explain the variance first seen with the milkshake method.
But, people stick to their beliefs.
Also, the host is allowed to set the rules, they are organising the party.

I think the solution is to give the person who drops the lure all the bugs caught. I play solo and I once had two full parties show up at a lure. I only got 11 beetles. I think only one of them was shadowed.

I mean, it shouldn't be that hard to make voice chat optional if they added it. It would be a simple matter of clicking a button to join a vc channel or not. That way people who would enjoy it/benefit from it would be able to, and you and your friends wouldn't experience any negatives. Not sure why that would make you stop playing the game.

Yes! They are supposed to spawn with lures now. Best to do it around trees i haven't seen confirmation yet if they spawn outside of them even with the lure. (Someone please advise if they've been able to confirm it'll spawn without trees when using a lure)

When you walk by the tree there is a distinct noise, they are cicadas after all. they will give off a warning brrrrrzzzzz and then jump off the tree and start flying.

Has anyone seen a Raspberry beetle lately? I’ve been trying to catch one since last patch and cannot find one no matter how much I’ve gone and tried. No amount of lures or walking with buzzy jars on has helped

Honestly? I advise doing Badruu friendship quests, one of those will give you a starred Raspberry Beetle. And if that doesn't count for the accomplishment, do what I just said above.

Plush rates haven't changed, but as the drop rates are very low, it's very much infuenced by random chance. So some days/weeks/months you might have better luck, others worse luck. It is ALL random, but nothing has changed.
If you're getting tilted at the low drop rates, maybe try switching up what you're doing rather than grind the same tasks, come back later. Or play in group if you aren't already
As for Raspberry, it was always a low spawn rate. That hasn't changed. I did loads of lures with no Rapberries turning up, then found one randomly while turning in a quest.
But as I advised, you are GUARANTEED a starred Raspberry beetle from a quest. If you're just looking for the master bug catcher accomplishment, it counts. Some people need to put it in their inventory, leave home and go back home before it counts, but most the time it counts without this.
