Lures seem to attract bugs in the same proportion as they normally spawn, just accelerated. So it's still a small chance to get a rare or epic, percentage wise

do it before nighttime because glow bugs will steal the rare spawn slot a lot. when I'm using a buzzy in ff I can see above pavel, if there is a bug up there I just open the map and watch the movement. dragonflies move in short bursts

I've seen Jewelwing there in her place above Pavel every time from 3am to 6am... And it stays there until someone comes to get... As I've already caught about 20 I won't go anymore... But I usually let them know on the server if anyone wants go get it... As said there, it's easy to know that it's on buzzy's radar by the type of short and quick movement

Yep, most of my epic bugs and rare bugs have been just stumbling across them rather than when I am actively seeking them.
Same goes for the plushies with hunting, seems when I am out casually hunting I get them rather than when I am on a mission.

A new old tip: I tried the supreme bomb a long time ago and I didn't like it because I thought it was the same as the smoke bomb and very expensive to make... But at that time I didn't get rare bugs... So yesterday I tried it on a starred Fairy Mantis which normally costs me around 15 smoke bombs without considering that I've already lost the bug a few times.... Result: a single shot (it has to hit the target obviously) but the bug is defeated with a single shot... I tested it on Jewelwing (which moves after the first shot) and was a foul too, the same in spitfire.... I loved it! I recommend 😃👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

while it doesn't show where the loot dropped, the hunter's horn (level 8 hunting) will show you where the magical creature is, so if it teleports away, and you're running up to the location, if it disappears, you'll have a idea of where the loot is

I've sent multiple feedback about Duskwing. imo they should either fix the spawn rate or change it to a Rare so we can track w buzzy jar. I've been going there regularly to get 10 hydrangea seeds (have 6!) and many days I get far more spotted mantis than duskwings. some days 0 duskwings

I had a difficult time with that one too. Someone here told me to go to the Dragon shrine at the right time of day. Start catching all of the other butterflies and scaring away all the other bugs. It will show up. It will also try to get away from you unlike the common butterfly. When I see this butterfly, it is always in a shadowy area. Almost missed it once.

The Ancient Fish is Epic rarity and one of the most difficult fish to catch. That’s completely normal and will take you a long time unless you get lucky

Pro Flower Tip: If you plant/water your flowers at home, eventually the flower will give you another seed (just once), but this is repeatable with the new seed so any amount of flower seeds you get can be grown additively.
So if you have 6, plant them, water them, eventually get 6 seeds. Plant those, water those, eventually you get 6 more seeds, etc. ;D You don't have to try and hunt down a ton of rare bugs to get all the seeds you want! Technically you only need to get 1 seed and then you're good as long as you're patient.

I have been able to catch the Ancient Fish with some ease. It usually comes every 50 fish for me. My problem is that I no longer want to use the fishing rod reinforcement with Einar to collect tokens and get the Aquarius and only with the smaller reinforcement and even with sushi, sashimi and Brew drink, he still ends up escaping me half of the time.

so, before the muujin went extinct a while back, there were two spawn points (thorny thicket and across the river from statue garden) that were separate from the rest of the surroundings that had a few trees. sometimes a magic muujin would spawn in those areas, you could cut the trees down, and the muujin would go into a frenzy trying to find a tree to climb into. they couldn't jump to any other areas which made them easy pickings so long as the trees didn't respawn

but as of this past update, they no longer spawn in those areas

why not just have them not regenerate when jumping into trees?

they present an interesting challenge, but I don't think the spawn point is the way to fix them. put it it simply, it's virtually impossible to solo hunt them and still extremely difficult to group hunt them due to the combination of their invisibility, they fact that they regain health when jumping into a tree, and their high total health. if you cut a tree down with one in it, it will jump into a different tree in 5 seconds. that's not enough time to finish them off

and i don't think it's reasonable to expect people to cut down every tree within an 100 meter radius before cutting down the one with the muujin in it

and that is why the spawn points was, to me, a disappointment when i found out that they don't spawn there anymore. because those spots you could solo them, i even soloed three in one spot at one time.

now, there's no point to try and hunt them solo, and getting a coordinated group to hunt them is difficult unless you are with friends who you can talk to

honestly just fixing the health regeneration issue would keep the challenge while also making it possible to hunt them because trying to track down a creature that leaps into trees, while difficult, is still doable

it's similar to the proudhorn sernuk, it's possible to solo them but still difficult, and they don't regenerate every time they teleport, and can be tracked with hunter's horn or friends and closely following them

problem i feel that would arise from that would be that sometimes a tree could have 3 magic muujin in it when it's cut down, and then you have no idea which one you were hunting, causing you to really be on the one that you want or you're going to have the same problem

spawning them where there are no trees kinda takes the animal specific challenge out of them

Yes, I use buzzy jar to find the rare or epic bug. If I really want to catch that bug, I add the smoke candle so I can get really close and make sure I get the shot right. If I really, really want that bug, I add the supreme bomb that annihilates the bug in a single shot.

More like catch them to also get XP. You will want to use a smoke candle to keep from scaring off the good stuff.

Smoke Bombs - the tool used to actually catch the bugs, throw them at a bug and it's a chance whether it will "catch" or not, so be prepared to have to throw multiple smoke bombs at a single bug before it catches. (personally I throw one, wait to see if it catches, if it moves, yeet another, rinse and repeat until it's caught)

Buzzy Jars - Shows you where all the nearby Rare/Epic bugs are on your map/compass, lasts for 15 minutes.

Smoke Candles - makes it so that the bugs that would normally get startled and run away when you approach will ignore you instead, makes it easier to sneak up on rare bugs that are very skittish.

Honey Lure - Lures a multitude of time/area appropriate bugs to the lure for ~3 minutes or so (i forget exactly how long it lasts). A great way to get a lot of bugs all at once with a chance to get rare/epic ones to spawn as well.

i just finished my starred rainbow hunting last week and i'd say i did a mix of things:

• trying to get to grove first (there's always an epic bug or a magical animal that spawns)
• using honey lures if i had them
• if i didn't have honey lures i'd server hop with buzzy jar active - i'd run around where they spawn, if there weren't any i'd go to kilima and back to bahari to check on another server (that i'd do until like 9-10 am game time because the later it is the more likely someone already got them / spooked them)
  i got some of them with each method

All honey lures do is spawn a bunch of bugs in that one area. Yes an epic can spawn, but it is up to chance. Pretty much all the honey lure does is cycle through a bunch of bug spawns in a short time

When I asked before, someone told a mod I was trolling just because they did not understand me. The odds of getting a plushie drop from hunting is expressed as classical probability because that is the precise math used in the design. Classical probability used says there is a 1000 sided die and you have 1 chance to roll a favorable side per loot collected.

Empirical probability tells us how many times a favorable side has actually been rolled. It requires a lot of research in finding out how many people have rolled a favorable side. My question is the empirical probability known to determine a more realistic outcome of gaining a plush?

is it me or have bug behavior changed slightly (on Switch at least)? 1. Their startle range is larger but seems offset by Switch targeting being slightly more forgiving. My old technique was to run up maybe 2-3m from the bug and now I find it startles out at like 5m. Also the Fast bugs seems faster but slow bugs seem slower.

Lastly, and best, two Maji Hollow runs I've either been unusually lucky or Duskwing is now about 1 to 2 or 3 butterflies. Before it was more like 1 in 8-10 butterflies

For context, my bug hunting is lvl 63 so I've done a fair amount of bug collecting. And I'm suuuuper familiar with Duskwing because I want 10 hydrangea seeds (up to 9 now, the recent two from my two half-day shrine runs since the patch)

I had a big problem with Cerulean for the same reason, of not appearing in the buzzy... It ends up being more difficult to find some uncommons than the rare ones for this reason. I stayed around the trees in Bahari for a week until I found a starry Cerulean... Tip: Use the smoke candle because the damn thing is very quick to escape.

You can get the Jewelwing and the Fairy in the same hunt. I have seen the Jewelwing almost every day from 3am to 10am at the top of Pavel. The Fairy is around Najuma lake and Hassian lake, at the same time. Just turn on the buzzy and start catching common bugs and the two rare ones will spawn

To catch the gossamer you must activate the buzzy jar at 6pm and run around all of Kilima. You are guaranteed to catch at least one gossamer every night. I've already caught 3 in a row doing this. Try this and you'll get the gossamer without stress

You don't have to be the final shot, you only need to get a shot in at some point, I believe within a certain range of it, not necessarily an actual hit.

if you need silk thread, I've found using a buzzy jar inside flooded fortress works really well. roughly 1 in game hour after you catch a vampire crab, another will spawn. there are 2 rare bugs in ff at a time. you can also see flooded steps and pavel from inside ff if you want to also run to those places for more rare insects

If you have extra honey lures then that is a good way to go and I would do them during the day in Pulsewater or south of the Pond by Hodari's House. You can also do it without honey lures and with a buzzy jar instead during morning and day in the south part of Bahari to find rare and epic bugs hopefully.

glowbugs are only south bahari, lots around hideaway. paper lanterns are usually the coast and north bahari

I’d recommend using slow down arrows, fine arrows take one less shot but I find that I waste more arrows using fine arrows, since they are quick. And you can also easily tell which one you shot at if it’s in a group, because the green cloud from the slow down arrow will follow behind it.

Duskwing is way harder to catch for some people than fairy mantis or rtb, duskwing and spotted mantis were the last star bugs i needed, i'd caught the rtb months before them

The purple one is the Order Sernuuk plushie - it wasn't supposed to drop from hunting but until this week was dropping from the Proudhorn's instead of the Proudhorn plushie. Now they've fixed it so the Proudhorn plushie drops from the Proudhorn! Now the only way to get the Order plushie again is through Zeki's machine (as it was always supposed to be). There are a ton of different plushies you can only get through the machine.

I have had this bug happen to me too. I play on PC so I dont know if this is the same for you, but the bug happens for me everytime I scroll my mouse wheel while holding a tool. I just unequip my tool and re-equip everytime I scroll now

It is both a blessing and a curse that it only spawns in one specific area, blessing because that makes it easier to just run around a small area rather than back and forth across the whole map, but a curse because a smaller area means less "slots" for it to spawn into.

Basically just have to keep running laps around the Maji shrine scaring off any grasshoppers, stinkbugs or common butterflys and hoping eventually you get lucky and one spawns in quickly

Honey lure is an option too, but sometimes I find it overwhemling between all the bugs moving around/lying KO'd on the ground on top of the big sparkly swirling honey lure "scent" animation that it makes it hard to see when something rare spawns in because it flees almost immediately if you don't have a smoke candle on

My strategy for using the honey lures is to place them in a spot that is as free of grass/bushes/trees/etc as possible so nothing spawns inside them/behind them where I can see them. And if possible I like to place the lure near to something like a slope or small rock so that I can kind of be above it looking down, gives you a Much better view for everything spawning in

it's not guaranteed that it will spawn. I've been after them a lot trying to get a starred ones and the main thing is have a buzzy jar active. If you're lucky they have a chance to spawn at grove (so if you're first there look around if there's one). if you do the lure around pulsewater there's also a chance they spawn. another way is server hoping - from 3 until like 9 am run around the area they spawn, if there's not any teleport to another map, go back and repeat

I caught 44 Rainbows in just 1 week. My method was like this: be in the red zone at 3am and activate the buzzy. Start catching common blues and crickets. When the buzzy warns you about the rare ones, run to the points marked in green, which was where I found Rainbow the most. I caught at least one every time I tried.

The Fairy Mantis spawns around Pulsewater and outside or on top of Pavel Mines, it can also spawn around Hideaway or the pond north of Hideaway. You can scare other bugs while using a buzzy jar to try to get the mantis to spawn.

As for the plushies, yes it can take a long time. It is a 1 in 1,000 chance for the elder and normal sernuk and a 1 in 100 for the Proudhorn sernuk plush. Which is very low but you can get it before then, it is just up to RNG

the two methods that seem to be the most helpful have been to try to find a grove first and approach slowly, and look around a bit before you call it. groves will spawn either an epic bug or a magical creature. the other is to be a pulsewater at 2:30 and pop a buzzy jar at 2:59 and follow the jar around and catch (or scare off) the other rare bugs that you see. those worked for me in the past

The way I caught mine was when I ended up in a server alone, which I've managed a couple of times, one always spawns every morning around 3am. Usually around Pulsewater, just make sure you have a few bug bombs

Bug hunting does not give the same rewards. Everyone gets the bug, but not the same amount of silk or a seed. I’m still salty about the one time I got 1 silk thread from an epic and my friend got 11 lol. Went bug hunting as a group these last two patches and sometimes it took a while for some of my friends to get the seeds!
