drop rate is p high it seems but only from rare bugs. but there's a lot of rare bugs in bahari bay so it's all good. sometimes a green grasshopper pops out when u pick up a forage, that'll also give silk

I also personally really like the firebreathing dragonflies around Mirror Fields :) They're bright orange and the fluttering noise they make (dragonfly noise) is unique to the area. (I find that they spawn a little more often if I run around scaring off the stinkbugs and so forth.)

Hi guys! Any tips for catching the Rainbow-Tipped Butterfly?

best way, get to a grove first and look around before you hit the trees. groves will spawn some form of epic bug or a magical creature and i've seen a lot of rainbows there. another way is to get to pulsewater at around 2:30 and wait until 2:59 and pop a buzzy lure. then follow around where the buzzy jar leads.

i think somewhere there was a map that showed a path to take, i think it was from reddit

i find that if i'm on the far ends of the map (statue garden area mostly) i never hear the grove unless it spawns in north bahari, but the noise is fainter the further away you are from it. which is why being near flooded fortress around the time they appear is best since you can determine where the sound comes from with practice

Yes, I'm usually near flooded steps to get an angle between the fortress and aquaduct entrances. I can hear the grove in pulsewater, which is why I find it weird that the one in windy ruins would be completely silent from there

I was watching some bug collection rooms online most people had a purple flowbug. Then i saw it is the Ancient Flowbug that you acquire from the quest from windy ruins. I have completed everything at the ruins and even got the Ancient Cloudminnow. i have tons of ancient flowbugs at my quest items, but the starred one is nowhere to be found. no storage no backpack or anything. Is there any way to catch it again as a star one in the normal spawn of the windy ruins, or should i send a ticket?

you can't catch one - you are supposed to get one as a reward for finishing proof of magic depending on whether you sided with caleri or elouisa, and then the other from the ||little temple with the egg puzzle.|| did you definitely finish proof of magic?

maji's hollow in kilima, any time of day, they are rare so you can use a buzzy jar to track them but it's such a small area it's not really necessary. the best thing is just to run back and forth through maji's hollow scaring off all the bugs until a mantis spawns. there's also the honey lure of course but that's a bit of a gamble. you can see their spawn area here: https://www.paliamaps.com/pages/Kilima.php

Not sure if you found it yet. But I used the fast travel sign at the farm to go to fairgrounds. Then fast travel back to farm. It was the most direct way. Then run to apple trees using a buzzy jar and it will ping south of the farm heading down the hill.

well, if you are looking for fast level up, you might be better over by the maji shrine run down to the coast and then go back up. there are usually a lot of normal sernuk that only take one hit on the way down and and back up. if you don't mind doing the whole chase i find over by flooded steps has a lot of the elder sernuk and chappas spawn over in that area with a chance of the proudhorn showing up. muujin hunting right now isn't possible since something in the code for the update kinda made them go the way of the dodo (at least visually)

I've changed servers, restarted, gone through 2 buzzy jars, and joined on someone else's honey lure: not one spotted mantis. Not one rare bug of any kind. Why does Chayne's quest hate me?

from 6am to 9am: 1 jewelwing (and nothing else, not even detected a single thing, no stonehopper, no spitfire)

nah, its a 200 metre range. if something spawns just outside the range and then someone catches or scares it, its gone before you know it was there

besides, if no one catches the other bugs, or scares them off, they'll prevent new bugs from spawning

I know how it works, I've used dozens of buzzy jars at the same place and time
But I've never seen that

I once used 4 buzzy jars with nothing tracking, it happens lol

I've found 2 today. There's no secret to it. Use a buzzy jar at 3am and run around pulsewater, and be lucky. When you detect something check on your map where the bug is to get there faster or ignore it (you sometimes detect bugs inside the flooded fortress). Repeat until success.

I would say try to do a jar/lure right when it turns 3am in game as thats when the day time bugs start respawning! One of my friends recommended that to me and I was lucky enough to get it immediately!

It's the juniper trees but there are very few in north bahari (a bit along the wall and near the shore). So if you're looking for them just go south, a buzzy jar at 3am usually finds several (near pulsewater and east)

new bugs arent going to spawn at all unless you get rid of the current spawns

so i prefer to go after the one that spawns from the refresh

its just sometimes either someone caught it already or it was scared off already so thats what quick checking servers is for

the raspberry beetle is an all day spawn but a rare one so i would frequently check in and around the farm. they can also spawn in the ormuu paddock and the forest behind the farm, so be sure to check there as well!

Head to the dragon shrine area just before 3am and drop a lure. Sometimes I’ll get one or two in the first lure. Sometimes have to clear out all the bugs and drop a second lure to get more. Use a smoke candle so you don’t spook them! Also the buzzy jars DON’T work for duskwings so don’t waste em

If you don’t have lures you can often still come across one if you get there right before 3 and catch/scare away every bug you see. Eventually one should spawn

so when I try to catch a bug, I basically spam the smoke bomb until I see the little stars that say the bug is ready for looting. If I try to pause after each bomb, there's a good chance the bug will run away which makes it harder to catch (and occasionally it gets away). However, by spamming the bombs, I usually end up wasting 1 or 2 at the end. Is there a better technique?

anybody here have tips on catching a Gossamer Veil Moth? I've spent two honey lures, a buzzy jar, and several hours and i feel like im missing something at this point
especially because i've caught like ten of the firebreathing dragonflys, which are the same rarity and the same area

yeah... that's where i inititially started my search, and then looked up where I should be, and then mixed up reflection and mirro fields. So i've been in the wrong spot for most of my hunt. you've probably saved me a lot of trouble now

buzzy jars and the area way above pavel mine should be jewelwing spawn area. I've gotten lots there. I've gotten my butterflies from groves or lures, mostly. I like using a buzzy and catching everything I can for silk and bug xp, so encountering them was never an issue for me

What sucks is it spawned for me once but I didn’t have a supreme smoke bomb on me. I failed to catch it. I wasn’t big hunting in the moment.

Maybe! I’m prepared now, but none of them have spawned. The one time I got a glory bee, I was just getting a little bit of sapwood.

jk, buzzy jar and server hopping is your best bet, you can place a honey lure between the cliff and the omoru pen

I got my raspberry beetle finally using a honey lure!

I used a hunting horn and found a magic chappa, then it seemed to be glitching out when locating another magic animal. I think it might have been the muujin? it kept leading me to trees and then not working. Interesting.

Since muujin are MIA right now itll do that. I think they sort of exist, but theyre invisible and uninteractible. I ususally ignore anything the horn picks up in northernmost bahari because of that

@steady sundial @paper mountain my trick is to just run around these areas and catch anything that looks like a kilima night moth but gets scared by me (though catching every bug will increase spawns)

@grizzled mist both can spawn at groves as people already told you. other than that, jewelwing only spawns above pavel mines at any time, so I would just run circles up and down through pavel mines. rainbow-tipped butterfly has a larger spawning area, best way to get it is with buzzy jar on a quiet server starting at 3 am just running around the area they spawn, especially corners where people dont usually run through. fair warning though, those butterflies like spawning in my face to scare the soul out of me XD

@spare flame @vagrant monolith golden glory bee kinda requires you to deforest the area, but dont worry, trees despawn after about 5 minutes. bundles dont require it to be star quality 🙂 the golden glory bee flies a little bit, then stops for a second or 2 before flying a bit again. if you're struggling to catch it, I would wait for it to stop flying and spam it with regular smoke bombs

@short shoal raspberry beetle sucks, I just look for running red dots in the grass tbh lol

It's not the problem of getting a glory bee - it's getting a starred one - I have 6 regulars in storage and have been selling any I've got while trying for the starred
