Something I'd really love to see in hunting is faster switching of ammo. And switching while I walk! I keep at least two types of ammo at all times and I switch based on what creature I'm hunting. Sometimes I even want to switch from the first shot to the second, it would be amazing to be able to switch that quickly so that I don't lose so much time between shots! 😊

Personally I just go to hunt around whispering bank, using only standard arrow. Many sernuks there and spawn groups are quite close to each other. Not sure if its the fastest way fr though...

Yes! I can change ammo that way, but I can't walk at the same time (unless I'm autorunning, then it works!) to explain with a use case, I want to be able to stalk my prey and change the ammo while I'm moving towards it, or change while I'm running after a fleeing chapaa without having to stop for a second to do the switch (unless, ofc, autorun).

It also takes a bit to right click, then click on the other ammo. The screen dims down so I lose sight of my prey, my character stops, I switch, I have a short acceleration distance before I'm back running again. It's a whole process 😛 Heh, ideally I'd press a button to switch. Like right click and then press the "slot number" for my ammo, like 1, 2 or 3. That'd be very quick!

Azure chappa you just need to hit the one with white highlight/outline when they start to duplicate (the highlight will disappear so you need to remember it). if you don't have dispel just run to chappa, hit only that one with white highlight (3 Fine arrows should be enough), its the real one.

I think I have, but it might've been in the old suggestion forum. Good shout, I should probably get it into their feedback form, just to make sure they have it. I encourage anyone else who wants it to do the same - the more who wants a feature, the likelier it is they'll prioritise it, I think 😊

Anybody got tips for catching cerculean cicades outside of just running from tree to tree and get lucky? Any areas that are low traffic for example? Really wish it was a rare because then you could at least use the jar to help.

On the wiki I think it said Gossamer Veil spawned over by the housing area close to the Daiya farm, but randomly I found my star quality one in the field on the other side of Kilima Village. I found some others between Daiya farm and the housing area, on the path into the village.

So not sure if that helps. I was able to find it within two days though.

They count. I think the “display” on all the blacked out achievement is the only problem not the achievement perse. I caught my last non star bug (and fish) and the achievement notification popped up + I got the plaques for it. So keep catching them.

For switching arrows I rebound my key to be "tab". I'm not a good gamer and using right click and left click is a little awkward for my hand. So far I like it better. This rebind also means eating and refilling your water can will use the tab key. Took me a second to get used to it, but it works better for my mouse hand . Switching arrows is left hand then mouse hand.

Time wise I would recommend hunt whispering bank basic sernuk still. The spawn groups are close to each other, rotation between spawn group take really short time. If you have good + fast shot, the one-shot kill can help compensate for the time shooting extra arrows and chasing elder/proudhorn. It just how I grind my hunting level, others might have better spot/method

I run buzzy jars every time I'm in the correct areas/times for the two bugs I need and nothing but the occasional normal and all sorts of random bugs in the same categories. I've even tried honey lures at the start of the correct times and nothing. I've resigned myself to the fact that one day I'll be zipping through and it'll be there daring me to catch it.

That butterfly was the hardest for me to find. The Buzz jars were a dragon-sent-miracle, I don't know if I would have found one by now if I didn't use the jars. I feel like the range for sensing us is larger than other bugs, thinking because they are Epic. The other thing that makes them hard to get is their speed once spooked, if they haven't been hit with a sticky bomb. If you want to add me on here and in game please do. I see them get stuck in the same places over & over again. There's a very specific tree on the cliffs just west of Windy Ruins, the hills just north of the Flooded Fortress, a specific pillar on the broken stone path in the Flooded Steps, the Statue Garden temple, & the big hill on Thorny Thicket. The tree one is actually regular Sernuk that get stuck there, now that I think of it.

This was a ruin near the center wall on the beach. Ive also seen it stuck at the west ebtrance in the wall of flooded fortress .

Oh and the like lowered ruin north of flooded steps? Yeah it got stuck in those walls too. It seems to love ruin walls

Same with moth, I've never saw any starred. The most funny thing is that Spotted Mantis I meet more often than Duskwing Butterfly, which I still don't have (I saw once starred version but it glitched into the rock). Miss also Fairy Mantis and Rainbow-Tipped Butterfly. I found one Spotted Mantis behind east bridge today, so worth to check there too. Good luck to you too 🙂

Just found 3 Moth the last few minutes, but no starred one. Funny thing is: I keep meeting this Fairy Mantis so often, I can't count anymore. Even got a bunch of starred one. I just ran in them while searching for Rainbow Tipped Butterfly. Best Tip so far is: Be there when they spawn. So when time changes from night to morning (what is at 3am), be there and use Buzz Jar. All of the nocturnal Insects despawn within a few seconds, so you'll get a TON of rare Insects on your compass to check for, 'cause the slots for nocturnal fill up with morning/day-Insects, even rare ones. That's why I got that much Fairy Mantis. Just try it. ❤️

Gossamer Veil moth I just heavily patrolled the path out of the village, by the villagers' homes, and to the Daiya farm, but I actually found the starred one on the fields on the complete other side of town. It did not take me long to get that one, thankfully. I've been looking for the rainbow butterfly for almost two weeks.

What's the best spot for Honey Lure'ing a Raspberry Beetle?

I've been doing it near the middle of the farm, but no luck seeing even a non-star one in 4 Lures.

I use a buzzing jar because of the sheer number of beetles that spawn, I also tend to use the Ormuu Paddock in front of the Barn because they don't blend with the grass and sometimes just get stuck on top of Ormuu making them easy to catch.

Also that was my last bug and it took me a while to get. Much longer than ⭐ Rainbow Tipped.

I found one starred early morning behind the farm, some without star found on the road south of farm, some in front of farm... hard to say. For me lure usually doesn't help, I've never saw any starred bug spawned when luring, and rare bugs very rarely. I usually find starred bugs when I am not looking for them so bad 😅

I caught mine the same way, however I have seen raspberry beetles with the lure so it is possible. Just a numbers game which is why I suggested the buzzing jar to keep appraised of what is spawning around you.

My journey to find the starred Raspberry Beetle via buzzy jars was a tedious and tiring one. Found a few non-star ones via buzzy jars, but it was when I gave up searching did I come across the starred one on the road between the ormuu farm and the cliffside. In fact, I have found three additional starred ones on that path, in the early mornings or late evenings. That area feels like the lucky spot for starred ones, given my collection. Good luck to you!

this is the best advice. Be there with your buzzy jar and smoke on right at 3 am when the switchover happens, and catch lots of rare bugs. I just tried it for the first time and got very lucky, got a rainbow tipped butterfly, plus three spitfire cicadas

So just wondering of others also still need the rainbow tipped butterfly. If so, I have a question for those (and others who want to join of course :)). There is a route you can follow for the best chance of spotting one. It has some possible spawn points on it. What if we get a group together and each (or several) of us goes to one of the spawn point at 2.30 am and cleares out all the bugs, so the spawn chance of the butterfly gets higher. Then at 3.00 am, when the butterfly spawns at one of the location, the person there does a shoutout and waits for everyone to get there, so we all get it :). Dunno if it is possible and if it's not frowned upon (not a big fan of camping), but I don't feel like camping when we do this since everyone is invited 🙂

I got mine in the fields of Pulsewater Plains after using a buzzy jar every ingame day at 3 am. Ater 4 a 5 hours rl, it was the first bug to spawn there. I started every ingame day 3 am at Pulsewater

I got mine as reward for quest... For a month or so I am trying few times a day every day to make them spawn and nothing. In general spotted mantis drop more often than duskwing for me, like I catch 3 duskwings per 10 mantis, which are 'rare' 😒

I use jars in Bahari but have no luck, other people do the same and bugs disappear when I am close to them 😂 Yesterday I found 2 moths (together in one spot) at 11 pm near Whispering Banks fast travel by the river, other time in valley in front of housing plot at 1:15 am... I know at least 5-6 places where I can find them ( I think I got over 20 but 0 starred so far).

You basically just equip your bug catching belt and make sure you have a bunch of bombs in your inventory, and just throw a bomb at a bug you are looking to catch every couple of seconds until it is stunned and shows little stars around its head. Once you unlock sneaky smoke bombs, I suggest using those but don't bother with any smoke bombs that are above that level. At least I don't and I don't see many people that do

The downside is that they are loud and startle away any bugs that you don't trap. I've seen people ask for the sneaky smoke bombs for honey lures. Either strategy works, IMHO. But yeah, I prefer the sticky ones, too.

If you want to catch bugs worth good money quickly, I'd recommend either going along the beaches of Bahari and catching purple crabs and snails or cutting down lots of juniper (orange trees), which will get you Ancient Amber Beetles!

Or Grab 4 friends wach oben bring a honey lure and i would say about 800 bombs wach and just Spam the pokeballs. If you spawn a rare call it. I would recommend voice for it so there ist no delay that the Bug geht away

Lures were useless for me, I never ever caught one with a lure. Always caught them using buzzy jars right at 3 am, wandering around. Raspberry Beetles can spawn any time, but your best chances are the switches from night to day, then back again since the server is swapping out types of bugs and has lots of slots to fill with rng. I got them using a buzzy jar around the Daiya farm area.

My RNG has not been good with lures. They've been great for leveling though, but not for catching gold star rares. Your RNG may vary, and they may be great for you. I've had much better success with running buzzy jars for catching rares, gold star or otherwise.

I think the dragon shrine area in general has either glitched or poorly balanced spawns- duskwing and the spotted mantis have both been as hard for me to find as the rainbow tipped butterfly, and they're supposed to be uncommon!

A magic deer or chapaa is always in bahari. They have a 1 minute respawn time. If a deer is stuck it may take a bit longer to reappear somewhere.

The Chapaa is in southern Bahari only, the Deer in northern Bahari only, that'll help narrow down your search. The deer can get stuck in landforms and structures and mess up the respawn. I've not seen the chapaa behave this way.

If a deer does get stuck, and you happened to have shot it or near it you will get credit and a loot bag when it respawns and is killed.

It just re-positions the deer instead of a new creature.

I feel extremely lucky. Decided I wanted to finish my starred Bug achievement a few days ago when I was still missing 5 bugs.
2 were easy to get (Stripeshell Snail and Golden Glory Bee) and then today I was super lucky to get both the starred Raspberry Beetle and the starred Spotted Mantis by chance.

Now I just need the Gossamer Veil Moth.
Been searching in the large area between Leafhopper Hills and the Remembrance Garden but I couldn't even find non-starred ones. Can't remember where I originally found my non-starred one.
I wonder if it would be worth trying a Honey Lure for it?

Haven't tried with lure, I used buzzy jar. Just ran all over the map. Make sure that you scare as many as possible other bugs around, collect all ladybugs and dragonflies. Starred moth spawn for sure near path to Bahari, close to bridge at Whispering Banks.

I finally got my starred Gossamer today. Server hopping was key, along with the buzzy jar. It seems a lot of people are hunting this specific moth, so that's the best way to get it, as I've caught tons of non-starred one's over the past week.

They spawn all over Leafhopper, Remberance and down at the dock surprisingly. If you see them on your compass and then while heading to it they disappear, that means someone got it. Time to switch servers 🙂

I always start in the Leafhopper area and put up my buzzy jar about 5 seconds till the hour. There's a "hill" that's just above the tele board that let's you get a really good 200 meter in all directions range for your buzzy jar to pick up any moths that spawn in at the start of their window. If nothing is there I usually server hop for the first hour then head on over to the docks and tele back. These moths spawn all over, so just keep looking and you'll find them 🙂

I catch many of the Fairy Mantis when Palium farming since they often spawn on top of the Pavel mine or in front of the mine at Hassian‘s Grove. It’s probably the epic bug I’ve caught the most of.

they're a very bright orange, it should be easy to notice. Just keep an eye out for the base of medium and large trees. Also best to check the moment the in game clock hits 3 AM, since all the night spawns disappear at once opening up a lot of morning spawns such as the cicada.

maker sure to scare away as many all day spawns as you can, so once morning hits there'll be even more potential cicada spawns.

I’ve found most spitfire cicadas spawn between 6-9am on the cycle but found two starred today, also. I’ve never seen them on the base of any types of tree other than the orange “juniper” trees. Since they are often on the opposite side of the tree trunk, I would recommend using a soothing candle when hunting for them.

If you use a buzzy jar you should at least get one or two regular ones per jar in southern Bahari.

I think I got like eight today with two jars though.

I dunno, I just use the sneaky bombs. I think everyone using a soothing candle would be ideal, but usually honey lure parties just take care of the weekly and level up bug catching, so I'm not sure if anyone cares.

Yep, I've done stuff like that... And been disappointed that it just didn't work. Bug catching I get why it doesn't work. Apparently we are getting live bugs... But hunting? Why's it matter "how"? If you want to level up faster in hunting, try to hunt the elder sernuks in Bahari, i use 4 slowdown arrows on them. it was how i grinded 10-15 levels to get to level 50 in a few days. they drop more, so it goes faster. I know its rough as a vegetarian but yeah. Its also in North bahari you can find a lot of iron nodes. so you can do both mining and hunting at the same time ☺️

For around 2 months I have black icons in achievements and it doesn't work when I put something to my inventory, I have to actually find it, catch, craft, etc to see it there or make request. I would suggest using Buzzy Jar and server hopping.
I found many when I was hunting my Gossamer and server hopping as my Buzzy Jar would often send me to the Family Farm.

depends which bugs you need. It's best to hunt bugs for filling in star bug achievement. If you want to use it for silk it would still be best to combine it with hunting for star bugs. S bahari might be a good spot for both cases, many rare/epic bugs spawn there.

I would also recommend scaring away all the crickets around 2 AM and then using buzzy jar at 3 AM. You'll get A LOT of new spawns that way, best chance at finding the fairy mantis, rainbow-tipped butterfly, Jewelwing dragonfly, and spitfire cicadas.

also don't really bother going to the beach area, nothing worth using the buzzy jar spawns there.

I‘ve never caught a single epic bug using a honey lure. And I’ve put them in spots where such bugs can spawn.
Most of the Rainbow Tipped Butterflies I’ve found we’re on the hill below Hodari‘s house (where Najuuma often stands next to the pond).
Ive also caught one near Hideaway Bluff on the way down to the shore.

So Setting the honey lure up around there might be good.

For the Buzzy Jar just running around the area where they can spawn and scaring all other bugs away might help though there’s also other bugs around there that the buzzy jar will react too

When hunting for silk don’t forget that bugs that drop silk also hide in flowers. Harvest all the things and always be ready to swap to your bombs.

You get waaaay more silk/hour if you do a cake party and just buy the silk cloth in town rather than actually collecting the bugs.

The guy above said he got 150 threads with 4 buzzy jars, which means 60 minutes. So 150/5 = 30 silk in 60 minutes (being generous and ignoring the time it takes on the loom)

in 60 minutes you could do 100 star apple cakes and get ~80,000 gold. Trish sells silk cloth (not threads) for 580 a piece.

So in an hour of cooking you could get (80,000/580) = 137.9 cloth. (~685 thread worth of silk)

they're different, you get the most xp from magical creatures (proudhorn sernuk in north bahari and azure chappa in north and south bahari). elder sernuk and spotted chappa (the darker colored ones) also give more xp than the regular sernuk and chappas, but take more arrows to kill.

If you corner the white sernuk on a cliff and shoot it with dispel arrows it can't teleport down and it acts the same as an elder. just takes 5 hits. Or if you have a partner you can flank it and it will run away from whoever shot it last.

so you can kill them in 30s without chasing them all over the zone

the white chappas are easier. You can just run on top of them, bait the illusion and fire a dispel arrow point blank into the pack. They get stun locked so just keep shooting.

Yeah, duskwing was the worst for me 🙈 Go there earlier and scare the rest bugs. Then go around that lower waterfall and fishing spot (or just go further to make them spawn faster), check outside area behind both bridges, especially east side. Keep scaring other bugs. slowdown arrows help a ton! it only slows the real chappa, so you can tell right away which one to target

if you dont have any special arrows though, i recommend spooking them and just chasing until they dig, the fake chappas will vanish into the air and only the real one will dig into the ground. shoot it while its digging and itll pop back up again, and at that point just one more shot and its done.

the regular chappas i just use regular arrows for, the lighter brown ones are one shot once youve leveled up to fine arrows, the darker spotted chappas take 2 shots

i wouldnt waste slowdown arrows on them, they arent too hard to chase

with spotted chappas if youre having a hard time aiming while they run, you can shoot them before they get spooked, and again as they dig down. two shots will kill them with fine arrows.

• use a hunter's horn and prioritize Proudhorns (I always started at Outskirts)
• after every downed Proudhorn stay in the area for ~2 minutes and hunt all the other Sernuks
• if the Proudhorn didn't spawn in the area you are in rn -> continue with the circle and search for the next Proudhorn (screenshot)
• rinse and repeat

if you don't like hunting Proudhorns

• just run around Bahari and shoot at everything you see (as you already did)
  recommended spots:
  right before Windy Ruins or follow the circle in the screenshot above

hey @swift prawn ! I am using your technique to get the rainbow tipped butterfly, but i had some questions to clarify a bit ! My first one is: Do you pop more than one jar ? Meaning that, once you cleared at 1 am and then did the 3am run untill the jar depletes, do you continue for another bottle during the day or do you wait for the next palia day to retry ? Second one is: Do you swap server eventually ? If yes, when do you recommand, like after two loops ? Three ?

Good tip is to catch common blue butterflies in the mean time. I think they take up a spawn, not 100% sure but you never know. That's how I found my first starred rainbow butterfly

Muujin are amazing for cooperative hunting parties. Though, I'm finding that a ton of Muujin can hide in one tree. I don't know the limit, but I think I've counted more than 8

White muujin takes about 6 hits from slowdown arrows. Once it gets into a tree, I'm 99% sure it regens the entirety of its health, which is why soloing it is so difficult. one thing i did not check but might be worth checking - does the person that cuts the tree get credit for loot if someone else kills muujin (assuming tree cutter did not fire an arrow at all). I think they might - i noticed recently they made bugs from trees and ore nodes give credit to ppl cutting/mining even if they did not hit the bug. solo might be hard, they only turn invisible, no teleport. But there is an unrelated bug with all animals "teleporting" around when they hit hill edges (more noticeable with all muujin)

Which isn't a bad thing mind you; I actually really like that it requires cooperation.

I also noticed that Muujin will clip through terrain to get to a tree and sometimes "teleport".

So there's something weird going on with their tree finding.

Also it feels like their health resets whenever they find a new tree but that might be intentional. Not sure.

all animals (and ground bugs) do that "teleporting" thing sometimes when they collide with terrain edge too fast or at a weird angle. muujin are just more likely to do that as they run around a lot
and they definitely reset health when jumping on a tree (i tested it)

And Glitter Badger teleports, splits, and goes invisible. Was lucky enough to trap it on a cliff so it had no escape, but still used a stack and a half of arrows trying to hit them all while invisible. 😅

I dont know if it is intended but if you kill a wolf you get a loot but if you let it climb first then chop down the tree it will be multiplied and every each of wolf drop a loot.

It doesn’t multiply but every tree can hold 6-8 of them and some spawn in trees already.
So if there’s already 4 in a tree and you hunt one that climbs up there it will spawn 5 after chopping it down.

And with how many people run around the map and scare them away, many trees are full of them.

If you scare a pack you can see several ones jumping into the same tree even.

I even had a tree hat had 4 of the white/flow ones in it right from the start.

When cooking, everyone that does at least 1 step gets full reward. Cooking party involves ppl doing a dish, where everyone does 1 step. This divides workload and costs, but keeps rewards same.
Cake is the most expensive recipe, and also requires 18 steps total, making it perfect for making a lot of money.

If you are low level ppl might let you do the oven role (no items required). Or you can go to N bahari and start collecting sweet leaf for the leafer role.

cake gives 270 exp base (so 540 with max focus). Exp to next level caps at 5k, so around 9 cakes per level. Cooking party will do 50+cakes per hour depending on how smooth whole team is.
muujin bahari might be even better rn (380 base exp, also very expensive and 19 steps total)

best place i found for silk farming is going to sunken fortress between 6pm and 3am and catch vampire crabs and purple snails. Very high spawn rate compared to the rest. Shame there isn't a new workbench similar to a worm farm for silk production, given how much we need for that quest
