basically you fill your items & ammo inventory on your person with furniture and things you can't get from the piles.

If the pile won't let you interacct, it's an item (worms, forageables, etc). You server hop until it lets you collect a recipe 🙂

Overall we believe this path is healthy, having more reasons to collect materials within the game that feed into end-game decorating.

We hear the community though that losing said resources when placing a tinted item into storage is a feelsbad.jpg moment but this path exists for reasons that are a bit more technically nuanced.

If I have a second plot, can I use that as like a construction zone while rooms or structures are being built, and then put them into storage and move them onto my main plot?

Another question, how do I add rooms and stuff to the new Estate building that came with the update? Does it require purchasing special rooms?

There is no way to move built things between plots, and if you pick up rooms that you have decorated or whatever, everything goes back into storage separately. You can only move decorated rooms around on the same plot.
The estate buildings are recipes but assemble in the same way as the alchemist cottages. So there is a single base room that you can then add accessories to (like windows, roof trim, etc). You just craft more rooms and then place them on your plot and connect them. I hope that answers your question?

I meant moving undecorated rooms between plots, if they're things that require time and materials to construct. Mostly so I can use up some of my materials and figure out what to do with the rooms or buildings later.

Oh yes, you can build the houses and rooms on one plot and then pick them up. They will go back into your inventory and then you can pull them back out (already constructed) on another plot. (Although the alchemist cottages and estate houses both build almost instantly (I think it's like 30 seconds), unlike the grand harvest house and all those rooms which take much longer to build.)

Ah ok, thanks! I guess I still don't understand the Estate and Alchemist homeline stuff though. I'm trying to find info online and am just seeing that the Alchemist one, for example, has Cottage A and Cottage B (not sure the difference unless it's just aesthetic) and a base room. So they just have one size of room but you can keep adding more rooms?

Cottage A and B are just base rooms with add-ons (windows, chimney, roof trim, etc). Initially it was the only way to get the add-ons, but they have since changed that. You have to buy one Cottage A to unlock the rest, but after that you probably can just buy base rooms and just pick and choose which add-ons you want. The price is the same—there’s no discount for buying the cottages with the add-ons included.

Then yes, there’s just one size room but you have the option of opening walls fully between connected rooms to make bigger rooms (or to open them to the outside if you want). And they do stack so you can have a true second floor (as well as even a little attic area third floor under the roof). The max connected is ten rooms (until you get to the tier of the path of the kitsuu that lets you have a total of twelve rooms connected).

It is necessary, since it'll bug your UI to get both the H menu (where you can mess with rooms) and your player placement interface to get the house on the present (And don't just jump, open you glider when pressing HY)

I'm not really following here... Are you trying to get the line on the present or the present on the line ? Because you can't really chose a point in the line, when you pick it up it's by the center by default

You just put the present on the ground, pick up your line and put it on top of the present

I finally figured out why my butterfly arches weren't turning out perfect, now that I'm 75% done building my dome!
It turns out even with the grid turned on, your camera angle has a slight impact on the height of the tank that is being flicked.

You can observe this (in the attached video) by looking at where the wooden top of the bottom tank merges with the dirt in the tank that is being held. You'll notice that the dirt level of the held tank appears to raise/lower when moving the camera up/down, despite the tank remaining within the exact same "small square" of the grid.

The height only changes by a few pixels, but it's enough to make a noticeable difference when you're building multiple large arches!

Once I found this out, I was able to batch out perfect arches every time by pulling the flicking tank 1 tick towards me, then slowwwly pushing the camera up until the flicking tank landed on the first pixel of the correct tick. Perfect arches!

Hopefully this can help somebody out in the future!

Are you on PC and can you flick and cancel place/float? Because Marvelily is correct. You can place the present on a shelf and then cancel place the shelf with the present up higher on the wall, and then flick the lights onto the present. Then when you put the present on the ground, the lights will be floating above. It's just a matter of getting the distance right when you cancel the shelf up higher. Then you can just hide the present on the porch with the lights above.

Hello! I have a question with bulding outside the boundries. I bought a lot of red presents and i know the technic to sink the Terrace with the present. I can place the Terrace (mostly) everywhere but I cant decorate it. A friend of mine visited my Plot and she can place things of the Terrace outside the boundries. Why can´t I place things on it?

You have to place the things before you sink the terrace. It used to be different but for several months now, you can't place on them unless they are above ground. (Same with builders floors.)

Or you have to have the surface of the terrace poking through the ground a little, not fully underground.

They will place on builders walls if you have more than one--so single wall is a no go, but if you have two side by side you can do it and then remove the side one. It apparently needs something behind the middle to attach to, but also needs something on one end or it will say it's not a valid placement. Perhaps if you put like 15 pillars in a line it might work? I didn't try that.

I also discovered that they will attach to the top of a builders crate (which seems weird since they are a wall item). You can then put the cobweb on top of them, but unfortunately the cobweb will grab the crate too. So I tried flicking them onto the ground, and that works, and you can even get the cobweb to sit on top of them (you can see it bump up right over the lights so it's not on the ground), but it won't grab the lights with group select.

The cobweb will not attach to them on the house wall, though, so that option is out, too.

But floating off a builders crate will work for people who can't flick.

Okay, so I answered my own question. Decorate first, then rotate, or else get really annoyed with decorating. So when it's on the normal x-y axis orientation, the blocks snap to the grid (first picture--you can see they are perfectly within the squares). They stay that way when you rotate the house (second picture). But if you pick them up and place them down again, they shift slightly forward and to the left and it seems like it's the same shift no matter how far it's rotated (third picture--see how they don't line up with the lines anymore? Those were lined up on the grid and they shifted over that much when I placed them). And they shift even with the grid off, so.... I guess I'll be decorating first.

The first thing I noticed is that even if two houses seem snapped together and anchored on the same present, they will shift when you rotate the present. I think it just doesn't handle the grid well once it's on the diagonal. The floors themselves don't rotate with the house (your flooring will be diagonal if your house is rotated), but clearly the grid does, and yet it doesn't exactly snap to the grid. It's all weird.

I'm attempting to make little dresses for my plush but when I move the dress group inside (chandelier on a red present, sunk with plate as anchor) I get "something is in the way". I think it's the small details at the bottom of the lamp interacting with the house? I need it to be low so the plush doesn't look like they're flying when I merge them together 😂 does anyone have experience with this? Should I use a floor instead of a present for the chandelier? Reading the vertical grid against the horizontal grid I would think is the issue. They were never meant to be turned, afterall, lol

Just cancel place everything off your present before moving it inside. It will all snap back to the present even if the little details at the bottom are colliding with the floor! (This can be tricky with a chandelier because you have to cancel place it on a ceiling somewhere, but it will work if you figure out the right somewhere that won't cause collision somewhere else.)

Yeah, I figure it's a side effect of forcing it to do something it's not supposed to do. It's not unworkable, but it will be trickier when trying to move things the little bit I need to move them to get edges of tables lined up on corners of walls or whatever.

I couldn't get them to flick onto a pillar yesterday, but just now it worked, so I don't know what was happening. They won't place on the side of a pillar normally, though, only on (get this), the top. Even though they are a wall item.

BUT, they make very pretty lights on the tree!!! (I only have two corner ones, or else I would have put more on.)

Nope, just flicking out in the middle of an almost completely empty plot.

The walls in the cottages (and probably the estates) behave differently than the ones in the harvest house with flicking. I haven't tried any other items, but when I was trying to flick the Reth ornament, it will actually flick onto the wall of the cottage facing the correct direction if you are facing the correct direction, but with the harvest house, he's always facing sideways in the wall no matter which way you face.

There's a few ways, depending on what u sunk, and how far. In your case, simply building a tall crate stack (high enough to pop the plush out of the ground), then sitting the paver on top of said stack will work.

But i flicked the builders bridge posts (the beams) into place.
With the 3 pillars i cancel placed the top two out of the way and then placed the bottom one closely behind the beam (the other top two pillars will get into place then) so i could ”measure” where to put the string lights. Then i turned the pillars around and put the other side of lights on.
Then cancel place the beams out of the way, and again with the 2 top pillars and then just tried to place the pillars in the middle of where the beams would go🫡🙏🏻 Idk if that makes sense at all.
Also beware that it does look bad from the sides hehe

I wanted to decorate my main plot but I'm having a hard time deciding between using the harvest house line or the alchemist house

My doubt mainly comes from the feeling that the Harvest House is being left behind, with no new decorative add-ons, while the focus seems to be on updating the newer home lines instead. On the other hand, I really hate that the windows in the new line aren’t see-through (though that’s something they might change in the future)

Should I just build with the Alchemist line to have access to the new content and leave the old Harvest House behind?

• the ability to float/sink items
• rotating items on all axis

A feature that would be important alongside these is a tracked list of every decor item in use that we can use to select said item if it is out of reach or hard to select with mouse/controller.

I'm sure you've already surmised some/all of those things, but is there any possibility of an advanced building mode with these features or have you decided against adding any of these for any reason?

I have my main "working" plot (my crafters, farming plots, etc.) decorated with the HH, but that's because that's all there was when I started. And I do like many aspects of it (like windows you can see through, as you pointed out and the different size rooms), but I feel like there is just so much more versatility with the new houses, because you can completely remove walls and change the roof to a flat surface if you want, in addition to the add-ons. I have so much stuff stuck in walls, because you can open them up, put stuff there and close it again and the stuff stays.

As a solution to the window problem, when you get going, you can use the door openings to make completely open windows, and that lets in much more light. And you can also stick lamps inside the walls (the paltech lantern works well) to make your windows look like they have light coming through them...

It's a way of helping the servers. If a server runs 24 hours a day from patch to patch it starts to become more and more laggy, so they have started trying to close out servers that are nearly empty to let them sort of reset.

Would there be any consideration to rejigging the way storage chests work, in particular the decor part? I very much appreciate that the decor does not take up storage space but I love the idea of decor chests that are categorised by furniture type e.g., lighting, soft furnishings, hard furnishings. Sometimes trying to search by product name does not bring up all potential items, say light, because some are called lamp, some are called light, some are chandeliers etc.

That's what I ended up doing. Between the fireworks and the standard arrows and standard smoke bombs (that I don't use) and the overflow of eggs (I have plenty), I made 5000 gold from all that. So at least there's that.

So I kind of found out what my issue is with the tints applying and now I REALLY dislike the system it will ONLY WORK if I have A as my move button but A is my jump and glide so now I cant cancel place items because my jump and glide is A and it has to have my move button as A

some things I had to make adjustments for - like if there is a Lg, Md, Sm mirror, I put a couple of each size out in various colors vs 1 of every color
Same with curtains - I displayed 1 Lg size, but each color in sm for sake of space

I find myself looking up specific plot owners often for inspo and it would be helpful to just have a top five space that you can edit or something that you can one-click visit! Also I know we can friend people and visit whenever, but that feels too close to turning up at someone's house without prearranging a visit so I won't be doing that, thank you very much

There should be a combination of buttons that let you use it and cancel place/jump. I'd recommend start from default and change other binds specific to actions that don't involve this one
You may not like it at first but one gets used to worse, really
Personally I use the "+" on Switch (which is a menu button) to place as to be able to cancel place

S6 have stated in the past that it's challenging to adapt a wide variety of actions to controls because of the limited quantity of buttons

You want to place the barrel on the shelf, move the shelf down and cancel place the shelf, place the second barrel on top of the first barrel, then re-place the shelf. The only cancel placement is when you move the shelf down. That makes the second barrel place on a lower spot but still attached to the first barrel so they merge together when you re-place the first barrel.

With the Alchemist one, the problem is that the roots on it collide with the floor, whereas this one is a flat bottom surface. I don't think they will revert collision checks just to make 1 item placeable sadly

You can get around the limit two ways,
Red present glitch,
Or by aligning a house on the corner of one you have placed so its in line but doesnt snap, and adding to it along the wall of your last one.

Both of these allow you to get past the snapping system

Idk if Seth is still around, but if you (or another Sixer) happen to see this, I have a suggestion for a little QoL change. Currently, the Workbench is where we can craft the "Estate" home line. However, it is under the general "Decor" category. Perhaps, to make it easier to find, it could get its own tab? (In the same vein as the current tabs of "Decor," "Ammo," "Tools," etc., perhaps a category named "Home Lines?") This would make for faster navigation, especially for console players who cannot use the search function as easily, as well as make future craftable home line parts more easily accessible in one spot! When you place the rotated shelf, you need to kind of make a note of where you want the next barrel, sort of in the air. So when you cancel place the shelf unrotated, you want to move it down and over so that the top of the top barrel is in the right place for the next placed barrel. (It's hard to explain, but hopefully that makes sense. When I started out, I often placed my rotated shelf in a way that I could put a pillar nearby or something to mark the place where I wanted that next barrel. Then cancel place the shelf so that the top of the stack of barrels is in the right place.)

Without doing this myself, it looks like your first rotated barrel is where you want it, but then when you cancel placed the shelf for the next rotated barrel you just went maybe one square too far to the left. If it ends up too far to the right, you moved too far left and vice versa.
