I've "sunk" some posts for a fishing dock that I'm building to give it a look like it's held up by posts that go below the ground. Problem is that I get a "something is in the way" error anytime I try to put the part with the underground posts out of bounds on my property. I see some docks on youtube that had no probelm out sinking out of bounds posts though. Any ideas?

Sometimes the underground items collide with parts of the terrain that are underground too and more solid than the rest
You can try canceling the posts while moving to avoid collision, they should go back once the anchor is placed again

Capital chic is probably the most red... Industrial shelves and the coffee table are red, but it's a very pink red. Log cabin stuff also gets kind of red, but not that red. The only other really red thing I can think of is the industrial carpet, but it does have a trim that is brownish. There is a large solid red area in the middle, though.

@flint escarp This is a sample of what I'm trying to place out of bounds. The idea would be to have 5 more pairs of posts below ground to extend down my deck that reaches over the water. I have posts sticking into the water no problem but I think @inner cobalt is right about there being some underground collisions since it collides in some places but not others. Not sure I understand how to fix it though

Yeah, I don't know what is colliding, but the cancel method will probably get you what you want. Are you moving it using that one pillar toward the front of the second and third pictures? You want to keep the first part of the dock that is closest to that pillar, but cancel place all the rest somewhere else (probably behind where you're standing in those second and third pictures so it doesn't collide without anything else). When you move that one piece at the first part of the dock, everything will move with it, and then it will all snap back together when you place it down again.

This is the nice thing about the builders blocks... once they are all connected, you can cancel them all out of the way and move just the anchor piece and everything will follow! You can put things in a lot of places they don't want to go this way!

Yes theyre pretty finicky at the moment, try building some chest stairs to get above it, so youre looking straight down to decorate it.

Basically the block theyre ontop of needs to be directly connected to the ground outside of wherever youre putting them, but they can be floated and pushed to appear wherever you want inside like in this video, ive had luck with this lasting a trip to kilma and back and a reload

You can make a wall, take the last two pieces that would be inside the pillar and cancel them away, put the wall closer to the pillar and when you'll place it down, the two cancelled piece will be inside the pillar

To cancel the placement of an item, you simply pick up the item, move it away and take a new one out of your slotbar. It will "falsely" place the item you were picking up down

They removed them last Winterlights, there was an issue where the nodes wouldn't dissappear after you exit your build mode... apparently their only solution to the problem was to remove them.

It was a fun mechanic, though with the shenanigans we in the community get up to these days. I'm pretty sure the best we can hope for this year is the same treatment the leaf piles got this year where they were given the new "roof top" tag

Though it would be REALLY nice if they would remove the collision they gave the snow piles... because it's made it a most arduous task to work with them when you get the system screaming at you "SOMETHING IS IN THE WAY" every 2 seconds. & you end up rage quitting or committing tiny acts of violence.

I’ve been having a problem with hallway sections. I have never had this happen before, but when I go to remove something from the wall that is attached to the hallway, I can remove it, but I can’t place anything back on that wall. Even things that were once on that same wall cannot be placed, including wallpaper. Also, I see part of the hallway poking through the ceiling of my room.

In addition to that, I’m unable to change the outside color of my room that is attached to a hallway section

Has anyone else heard if this is a known issue or should I submit this to the S6 team? Thanks!

Hallways for harvest house seem to be really bugged at the moment, you're not alone!!! I believe they're aware of the issue, however these things are always worth submitting a ticket!!

You can avoid that by using 1 cup sinking and floating to re-anchor the piece to the floor of ur house. That way you can change ur walls without anything getting messed up

Messing with the grid was extremely upsetting. Snapping objects with nodes, flicking, attaching crates, all kinds of things r harder to do now

You have to angle ur camera just right and make sure other things are not in the way of ur line of sight/too close to the bush, or it tries to select that rather than the bush

If u've ever tried to pick a sunken object out of a dresser, etc. same thing with how u move the camera. Using the actual camera and then turning on build mode can make it easier to grab as well.

Probably been asked a million times, how do I reach the lights on a high ceiling to remove them, to replace them with the light I want? The only thing I can think of is the umbraan decor like the archway(found one at Tish shop and she can request lotus flower) and the jugs are cute. I know jugs(hug clay pots) are used in Asian country to fermented food.

The campground bed would be nice since they seem low enough for like futon without the stress of sinking the bed as well as their pillows they have.

Saw you asking about Japanese style furniture and had to chime in XD When it comes to traditional Japanese furniture, you are looking for simple shapes and wood tones mostly. For example this table. It can easily be made with a floor piece and a crate, and some sunken chairs. The fanciest piece of furniture u may see in a home would be a tansu (storage cabinet)

So, I built a grand harvest house and attached 2 hallway pieces to make a longer hall, and then attached a large room to the end of that. I was hoping to be able to make the walls open, but all I see are options for regular windows, double windows, or a solid wall. Am I missing something? Or is it just not a thing that I can do?

Is there another way that I can achieve what I'm going for?

If you're trying to remove the outer walls unfortunately with the harvest house line they don't remove like that.

The alchemist houses open up like this, however, they dont connect to the harvest houses

Go into overhead view and select the building, it let's you change the roof and the walls if youre trying to go from flat to slanted or versa,
If you want foot attachments back on its easiest to build a staircase to the roof and attach them from up there

Ohh it should go on the same way wallpaper and flooring does! You should have roof options and you place them from your inventory, I also find this easiest done while on the roof just aim for it!

On one of my alchemist cottages I changed the roof colour but found you can’t apply it to the roof above the door and trims if they are not attached. Hello! You should be able to put a cup or starred food on top of the builders item, and group select while only the cup is highlighted! This will turn off collision to a degree allowing it to be put in the corner 🙂

Make sure you put the cup/starred food in the corner farthest out on the very edge! It does take a bit of wiggling with those corners because of the wood

I know there was an issue where if the house was being built and you left the plot, the attachments would disappear. Pretty sure they fixed that. Question: I'm currently building multiple identical butterfly arches for a project. However, I'm finding that the arches seem to have slightly differing end points on the grid, despite all starting from the same place. I don't believe there is any variance in how I'm building them...each butterfly is placed facing the same direction and I'm snapping my dessert bowl into the same place (via grid) each time when I flick. Does anybody have any thoughts on why this might be happening? Attaching pictures of the arches, their start point on grid, and their end point on grid.

I don't know why this happens, but I have seen things I have placed seem to shift ever so slightly the next time I log in... Like something I merged will be poking through a surface where it wasn't before. I end up shifting things tiny millimeters after I think they are placed perfectly. It's very weird.

There is a possibility of flicking, even to a grid, not always being identical towards the grid, to fix u can try using something more "pointy" or use grid off and aim at the center as much as possible

U can try also using butterflies to flick with instead of a plate so u can see if it's aligned properly

Ps do them all at once on one long floor line so u turn once to have multiple to flick on at once, I found turning shelf to be the most time consuming

Did u turn them around at any point? When making an arch it will not be completely symmetrical, so one side will not hit the same spot on the grid as the other. Keeping them all facing the same way will keep them aligned bc the bug u started with will always be aligned with the grid. Also, make sure all the butterflies are facing the same way. The terrarium is not a perfect square

Another thing that can happen while anchoring in a chain is that your curve will be slightly off or "spiral" (the next one added sits slightly higher/off center than the last as u build). Leaving your plot and coming back is enough to fix this. Just don't switch plots mid - glitching before leaving and coming back or what ever point u stopped at and switched will be the only ones that correct themselves

I can see from ur pic that it happened to a few of them, at least it looks that way. The plus side is that all u need to do is take off the ends an re-attach them for most of them

The arches are all facing the same way, yes. The anchors are all placed in a row (2nd pic), and the ends of the arches are all in a row (3rd pic). And yes, all butterflies are facing the same way when I place them. I make sure to stand facing the same direction before pulling each butterfly out of inventory

I think I may have switched plots partway through building a couple of the arches, yes. These weren't all made in one go, so I'm not entirely sure hahah

Then that's what caused it. For some reason when building in a chain, they tend to float slightly higher as u add, so for example if you were making a circle, it would create a spiral type pattern. Leaving ur plot and coming back will snap them into the correct position, correcting it, but if u switch plots at any point while building them, then leave and come back, it causes what u have there. The only ones that will snap to the correct position are the ones u added before switching plots

The rest will stay wonky, and even get worse

So build each arch to completion before u switch plots if u are going to do so to avoid it. Also, leave ur plot and come back before continuing to build so it corrects your last ones built

Exactly. Build the entire arch, leave, come back and it corrects itself. Just don't switch plots while doing so. After coming back and it has corrected itself it is safe to switch plots. You just can't do it while in the process of building an arch or before u have corrected it by leaving and coming back

You can also build multiple at once, just follow those rules

There was a method where you could put a cup or a bowl on top of an object, in order to make it clip into another object because when you group selected it would use the cup/bowl's hitbox. That's what I'm trying to do

bowl still does that but its way more limited, group select works as a way to expand properties of one item (the one u group select by) to whole stack connected, u can do it with multiple items

I'm making a bridge out of wood floors and was trying to put wood pavers on the top so it looked a bit more natural as I'd done that in a previous plot I made. The wood pavers stick out to the side now and I can't get them to sit in the middle. In the image it has that part showing on the bottom there

I used to put a cup on the paver, group select the cup, and be able to move the paver wherever I wanted but now it doesn't work.

In the first picture it looks like the trellis (or maybe it's a swing? on the left side) might be colliding with something? In the second picture it looks like you did cancel the ceiling part away, so are you sure it's not just bumping into something wherever you cancel placed it? It will move with the pillar.

I checked from all angles to see what is happening, which is why i also cancel placed the swing away, i will try to cancel place the pillar on the house without the ceiling part, but is there a way to take down the ceiling part from the pillar if it is already attached to it? I think i took every floor part down one by one at least 8 times in 24 hours because i kept running into issues

This is how they work. It’s not a bug. The cottages A and B are just base rooms with addons. If you pick them up you have to put all the pieces back on yourself.

Hard agree with you there! I need quite a lot of the Valley Sunrise furniture still but I just can't bring myself to grind for it because it's just so disheartening to spend all that money to get basic seeds and fireworks all the damn time, especially as (I think I'm right in saying) there really is no way to swing it in your favour at all, it's sheer luck

The way it came off to me is that they don't want to over complicate build mode for newer players, so they do not intend to add things like shrinking/enlarging items, free rotation (angling it however u like, even flipping it upside down), etc. like u can do in other games. They may change it a bit going forward, but most likely not to that extent. They would have to completely re-do the building mechanics in order to do this as well, so I don't see it happening any time soon, if at all. We can already do a lot of this stuff via glitching anyways, so they don't technically need to implement it as a part of the building system.

Honestly, the only thing I would rlly like for them to do is give us tickless rotation, it's all we are rlly missing (being able to turn without the 24 ticks, not turning at any angle)

Okay, I just checked and that rug is being dumb. It won't place--it's probably uneven on the bottom or something so it thinks something is in the way. I have the same problem with stone floors. I was able to work around the problem by putting a dessert plate down and placing the rug on top of the plate (you have to wiggle around a bit until you actually find the plate under the rug to place, but you'll know when you're in the right place when it turns green).

Are you trying the plate or the bowl? I would use the plate method, even though it's maybe a little trickier. But then you can move the books around with the plate hidden underneath and you have a lot more flexibility with placement afterwards!

I managed to get the plate to work but it's like...attached to the top/side of the plate and not on top of it for some reason but that's fine lol

I'm putting it in a witch themed place so I put one of the little candles on the plate and it's passive enough to make it not look weird lol

You have to do the cancel placement of the shelf down and over a little to get the book to be on top of the plate in a way that hides the plate. But your solution works perfectly, too!

On grass floors it looks fine because it's as if the snow on the border are slowly melting and becoming watery, but that texture on the Aurora landscape doesn't work at all since it's just all snowy and shouldn't need for the snow to melt At least that's my opinion on that item

What is the max number of floors you can do with the alchemist cottage rooms? I've seen plots with 3 floors, but I can't do that in my own...

this uses twice as many items because you can't put anything on rugs or blankets if they are on a terrane piece when you could before are they going to fix this had to cancel place rug out of the way with stacks of plates under to get it to look right
