afaik, friendships doesnt matter. But you will need to have certain friendships for specific quests (typically also friendship/romance xD)

I feel like a good amount of players expect a complete revamp of the game with elderwoods which will not be the case

its just a map (and everything that comes with a map: bugs, fish, ore, new NPCs etc.), maybe a new game mechanic, main story
the most important part is not Elderwood itself but how they will handle the game after Elderwood imo

they definitely need to put out a roadmap after elderwood like WC mentioned "we want to do a public one"
they need one so they don’t lose players again

and they need to start building their house bcs the foundation of Palia is good, but u can't live on a foundation ur whole life
they still have a long way to go but want to launch on latest generation consoles in the next few months

I have 1 other friend who plays and I’ve never visited plots with those skins so I can’t say I’ve seen anything with those plots. I’m referencing a flash that happens randomly during hotpot, usually when the time changes to 9pm and 3am (iirc) respectively

I just randomly got the White Screen of Death for the first time. I was in the modification bench at the time. I had just stopped recording unfortunately. That said, I found out the following.

• It starts having some shading visible, gets brighter and brighter until you can barely see anything.
• However, changing the bloom setting down from 5 to around roughly 1.3 or lower, you can see in-world UI elements perfectly (arcade machine), and certain shadows and edges become visible but tinted (ambient self shadowing maybe?).
• Sidenote: 1.3 is an estimate since the slider doesn't show decimals, but clearly either uses decimals or rounds number up or down when slider is between two integers.
• I was in a party, and while all other UI elements were fine, the rendered preview of the other players also got whited out in the UI. Only the rendered parts.
• On the lower than 1.3 setting, the starry part of the sky was still perfectly visible like the arcade, but clouds where whited out.
• If I went to inventory and opened premium UI from there, it'll play a fade to black; during the fade to black screen reverts and there is no white screen of death. Disables post-process during fadeout maybe? As soon as I close the premium UI we're back to white screen of death.
• And the white screen of death fixed itself seemingly when the sky background changed from night backdrop to day backdrop.

Particularly with the last point, I wonder if there is a prerequisite (UI related maybe) that when combined with the sky backdrop changing (and thus lighting model and post process), that triggers the white screen.
So yeah, that's the summary from WSoD prodding.

So yeah, this seems to be tied somewhere between lighting, bloom and post process (maybe even partially to the auto-exposure/eye adaptation parts of post process). Unfortunately this means there's still not 100% clear reproduction steps, but this seems to narrow it down. I did get some pictures and footage at well that I can supply.

And the relevant screenshots I got. Showing that parts of skybox is unaffected on lower than 1.3 bloom. I didn't manage to screenshot in time with full bloom as game automatically fixed itself. But most of the sky backdrop was very bright, but you could still see it with a blue tint.

Second mini screenshot shows what I mentioned about the rendering of party members being affected despite the rest of the UI element being fine.

Combine that with the video of it fixing itself as daytime settings arrive again (I'll copy that one in here too), where you can see that the WSoD "fades" out in 3-4 steps before it adjusts to normal, then I think you have some solid data there.

Times of note: If it triggers, it will trigger at about 7:15 PM, "fixes" itself at 4:45 AM. Will continue to trigger so long as you stay at your plot and don't restart game. This is related to change in skybox background and lighting conditions.

This happened to me when I was at my home plot doing home stuff. Winter plot does not seem to be necessary to trigger it (though there is a chance some plots might increase the chances of it triggering)

Considering a Palia day is a real hour you can know exactly what time it is before logging in. There's also palia clocks online so you can check it out.

I don't know if it is the actual change that triggers it, or if it can trigger by just logging in at night. Though I have not heard reports of it happening straight on login, so I think you're safe if you log after the change even if it is night time, but don't what I say as a guarantee though as I can't be certain. Just stay safe out there.

I don't think people are understanding Kresjah's point. Yeah, it's a beta (which isn't properly advertised, but alas)-- but it's for people to be critical and to give feedback. And if people are dissatisfied, that's a problem, and should def be expressed in healthy ways, and even talk about it with other people. And even if it wasn't in beta, should still give feedback, explain why you are dissatisfied, feedback, give critique, etc.

The reason I say "not easy" is because to design items/cosmetics, you also factor whether an item needs individual physics parts. They test out how it moves agaisn't real time movement or collision detection on other things

You also gotta factor if your game has Body morphing on the character's skeleton rig.

If a character is chubbier, thw clothes don't magically fold perfectly onto itself, they have to manually attach each rigpoint so it doesn't clip off model

Yeah, animating is a pain in the bum. Again, I have not done any of it before so I have no clue what goes into it. I just know there's two different teams, and figured in comparison, there wasn't as much to do. Not that it doesn't take effort, but more goes into a whole new area I'd imagine

Not to toot my own horn here, but yes. I dread to think where that info would be if I couldn't do it here. A lot of this goes unnoticed when going through the "proper" channels unfortunately. I have no count of instances I've seen where people have posted bugs and issues, where it's being glossed over by the official support, where it isn't escalated, where people provide screenshots and the response they get is asking them to provide screenshots, etc. What was it, almost a year before they realized the snowball flashbang was an issue?

Many people don't trust the official and "correct" channels anymore, and understandably so.

Different teams, or just different prorities, one makes their salaray the other doesn't. Until gameplay either breaks or effects the money flow one will always be a priority. Most games usually make your char bald under hats because to model a hat over hairstyles require you to rig said hair to EVERY. SINGLE. HAT. IMAGINABLE that they got done

They did that when they attempted to fix the snowball issue, which is fair enough. I wrote what I did hastily, and was mostly referring more to the stuff about cleaning up their act. Bug reports going missing, cleaning up their communication (or lack their off), fixing things after their gaslighting, etc.

In other games to avoid doing that much work, they just make hats separate accessories you gotta MANUALLY rig yourself in-game with magnet points so it doesn't clip off that specific point.

The hats are transparent, things clip through, because manually setting up every possible accessory from the devs to players would be a painstakingly annoying job

This is one of those instances where I'd like to say "I hope I'm wrong (and you are right), but I fear I'm right". It feels like they've done very little to be honest. I'm not expecting miracles, and everything changed on day one. But just going back and reading their blog post about levelling up their communication and stuff, there's so much there that sounds like the typical corporate excusing without admitting anything. Like not "sorry we effectively gaslit you" (okay, I know that wording wouldn't fly in official announcement, but you get my drift here) but "sorry we didn't deliver it sooner" for instance. And so many instances where they could have been more open with three sentences in an announcement yet they remain silent.

Heck, take the white screen of death. Unless you actively follow the discussions in the discord channels, you wouldn't know it was a big problem for many, that it is being looked into, what is known about it (and consequently how to avoid a potentially serious health issue), and so on. And after I pushed info their way, they've been pretty much silent about it other than the "our team knows about it". Again, only way to know is to be here and look at the chat at the right times. Know what we know a lot about? What's on sale in the shop. That they are very forthcoming about.
