I have the uttmost respect for Switch players. I play on both and it is so much harder to catch bugs and hunt on Switch. So kudos to you and if you need help with anything, shout!

So I've been playing with a theory for a bit now, and I think I've concluded my findings. Depending on the last skill you used before grabbing the rummage piles in either location it will give you something in relation to that skill. I've done this by using my furniture skill and going straight to the pile and getting a recipe for a new furniture item. I've also done foraging, hunting, bug catching and mining, and it gives an item that can be used in those skills or an item that can be gained from those skills. I'm sure I'm not the first to discover this but I wanted to share for anyone who might be struggling to get the new furniture pieces, this could potentially help your chances. Maybe I'm just crazy that's a possibility too 🤣

Are you trying to access the shop thru your main character menu (i.e. pressing the icon for the premium shop when you have your inventory open, for example), or thru Jels register? Feeling the need to rant. I really, really, really despise fishing in this game. Not because the whole concept of fishing is boring or the fact that it is time consuming. My reasoning is that inventory only allows for 5 fish per spot in backpack. Also, in order to make fishing easier individual hooks take an inventory spot each. Worms, fisherman's brew, food to replenish focus, and hooks. All these items take up backpack space and quest inventory is empty.
My fishing skill is much lower than all other skills. Going to start fishing at my home plot to level up the skill.

Any NPC that has a guild store can buy items from you pertaining to that guild - so fish for Einar, gems and ore for Hodari, meat and fur for Hassian, etc... Zeki's store's cash register will take anything sellable, so you don't need to go back to your home plot and stuff your shipping bin full just to get gold
