I am a new player. Over the past 3-4 weeks I have probably played 30 hours? It will be slow going for me to expand my house, my plot, build stuff and so on. The biggest limitation for me is the energy to sit and play though - I have disabilities that stop me from physically sitting on the office chair to game as much as I would like to.

To provide some another viewpoint: I've been playing since August. I haven't done the big mass cooking binges, and have never sold a star stone (I hoard them instead). Most of my gold comes from passive income - I fill the preserves jars to make jam/pickes, I fill the glassmakers with stone to make glass and then lightbulbs, etc. Occasionally I sell excess stuff. I get on, go "what do I want to do today", and do that. Do I have five houses on five plots all fully loaded with furniture? Of course not, I don't have a gazebo, even. But I have fun, and that's what matters. You can take it at your own pace.

Have you played Palia? Nobody can just give people anything, no matter how many followers they have. The most a streamer can do is organize groups more effectively for things like Cooking. That is still limited though. Palia has no trading.

As far as parties, outside of streaming, it’s not my thing because of social anxiety. I’ve done cooking parties before, where there were folks I didn’t know, but I knew the organiser. The organiser knew everyone, too, so it wasn’t a mess.

However, I like to play on my own time, so the most I team up with random people is for flow groves or mining palium in Hideaway Bluffs/Flooded Fortress.

And what do you feel is stonewalled behind required playing with others (aside, maybe cutting large flow trees)? Cooking parties are not required. I can hunt even the new invisible mob by myself (it takes time and creativity, but I have done it more than once). You don't have to interact, but you can if you want to.

As someone who plays solo 99% of the time, I can say you absolutely can play solo and that you can switch it up as much as you want to. I've had great enjoyment in doing exactly that. There are many ways to play Palia, though.

I've never made 300k gold per day, it's true. When you're working solo, you need to provide all of your cooking ingredients. You can certainly spend all of the time in acquiring those ingredients and then spend a day making 300k if you so choose, but I get much of my income from the passive machines on my plot and whatever I sell off in excess.

Cooking parties are nowhere near as OP as they once were. I've never been a fan of that minigame so I never joined one, even when people were raking in huge volumes of money - it wasn't to my taste to be part of a production line, so I didn't. But I also didn't begrudge people doing it if they wanted to, it just wasn't my thing. Apparently you can give one appropriate gem to any npc, and one box of chocolates per week as well to your romancees. Then dailies each npc will have wants, and will usually take an ore or carrot or something for thier given path/career

I work full time and am a mom to two young kids (2.5 and 6 month old), so I have very limited time for playing group games now. But honestly I think Palia is great in that I can log in once a week and play a little, or I can log in every day and play a little, and both times not feel like I'm missing out on anything. It's been fun both ways.

For a little perspective here, the real difference between cooking in a party and cooking alone is who supplies the ingredients. In a group setting, everyone can bring ingredients; solo you have to do it yourself, but you can still make the same amount - you just don't have the added help in doing it. They did do some game adjustments a few patches back (well, okay, five or so patches back) and all sales of cooked goods dropped in value, so they are rebalancing the game regularly. But you can make the same amount; it's just more solo labor that you put in for the same net result.
