Can you suggest about English paper of first grade?
Is this correct?
I believe "nothing" is better
Try “slight” or “a slight amount of”
“Vanishing” probably does not work because that implies the branching goes to zero, when, as I believe you said “nothing” does not work
sounds like some sort of legalese, can it be applied to military units too?
How about “miniscule”?
The phrase "have had" is used to describe an event that occurred in the past and has a direct connection to the present. This phrase is often used when describing an event that has had a significant impact on the person's life.
Yes “proliferation” implies that more paths will be created, or have to be created
Guarantee availability of paths is a better way to say it…it would mean there is always at least one path available
Continuity means something slightly different…it means the paths are there, but does not mean they are open.
Availability means the paths are open for use
same
Sorry for the delay in responding. “Propagation” is the action of making more things generally. Is in reference to making more paths? Propagate, the verb, can also mean to move through a medium. Is that what you mean?
Now that you explain it that way then yes, propagating sounds like a good choice to describe what you explained above
Hello~ help please! Is a ''Seism'' the same as an ''Earthquake''? Do people usually talk about seisms, or just earthquakes? Thanks in advance! x
It's that I'm translating something related to this, from Spanish, and I don't see people talk about seisms.. xD
Just earthquake. I’ve never heard of seism before
Ohww sweet to know, tyvm
When you talk about earthquakes you can discuss seismic activity. Which is motion of the earths plates
Stuff of an engineer friend lol thank youuuu. Earthquakes*
Anytime!
I have a query to be resolved asap. I can fluently speak in some scenarios like when im talking with my friends. However, i always gets confused when i came across a tense environment like having an interview. Please! I need some guidance
You have to give us some examples, so that we can help you
It’s just nervousness. Happens to natives in interviews as well. You aren’t alone
How can i get rid of it?
I have an interview coming up in few days
Practice and experience
I’m 28 and interviews still shake me up
Yeah! Interview sucks
And gets even worse when you are the only bread runner of your family
I would say look up tips for interviews on YouTube. Some of that really helps
Breadwinner but yes
I’m in that boat as well
Just watching videos will not let u get anywhere if u don't practice
True but some of them have questions you should be asking the interviewer which helps.
More with the interview than the nervousness
I can do a mock interview with you if you're interested.
Wish u a best of luck mate
That would be really great bro?
Thanks man. I am quite fortunate and blessed
When will u commence the interview
Join me in room 2.1
hey guys, there's a term i'm looking for, but i can't remember what it is...
it's for when you don't refer to a group as directly what it is, but like as another descriptor of them like for example:
instead of saying
10 humans on deck
you would say
20 hands on deck
pls lmk if you remember :')
All hands on deck?
ahh sorry not that example specifically, sorry if i wasn't clear
maybe there isn't a term for it after all, i just really seem to think there is T-T
Oh ok sorry about that
np! :)
Are you referring to how we describe different groups of animals…like a gaggle of geese, or a murder of crows?
Same concept?
Or a herd of cows? Like that?
hmm welp it's like if you wanted to describe two people being in the room, but instead of explicitly saying "there are 2 people", you would say something like "there are 4 eyes" to imply that there are 2 people
yknow im starting to think maybe there isn't a term for this after all T-T
I am looking for a new friend who's living in US.
Especially if you are located in Texas that is great but anyone in US is fine.
Please DM me if you are interested.
Thank you.
I suggest you to join voice channels and you'll find lot of native speakers to practice your English with. 😀
Synecdoche?
You could also say "A claim does not need to be true; it does not need to be false."
Yes, but this type of wording is very formal/academic. You will only see it in classrooms and courtrooms
i see haha
You would sound like a Shakespeare actor haha, "I need not away to bed chambers!"
thank youuu!!
No problem, happy to help
Thank you
anytime!
I'm not sure I could be wrong but glitters as in like shines a little and a nugget is like a little piece of gold
and i think "all that glitters" seems like a plural noun? why do they use the verb "is" and "that glitters" here
I actually don't know sorry
haha that's okay :3
Wait till someone better than me comes
okay kkkk
All that glitters is not gold is referred to as a proverb. It means that not everything that looks precious or true actually turns out to be so.
What it is trying to say is that a person's or an object's appearance can be deceiving in more than one way, thus you should not create opinions only basing on its outer glitter, but only after you manage to find whatever darkness is lying behind it.
"All" is singular.
hello, I have a question, would be appreciate if anyone answered me.
“In love with days” does it sounds alright? Or I broken some grammar rules again? Thank you.( it won’t be use in sentence, I wanna use it as an user name or website.)
It's obviously not a complete sentence, but no, those four words don't break any rules of grammar.
It's a very strange thing to say, so in that sense it doesn't "sound" right.
I see, thank you for replied my question @west spear, is there’s anyway to keep the meaning but doesn’t sound strange

What meaning you wanna carry ?
Positive, embracing and enjoy my life, this kinda meaning. @tidal lily 💜
I started feeling it’s weird cause I tried to Google “In love with days”
no result…
non-standard spelling of fellow, used in representing speech in various dialects.
Thx!
"For centuries, and all over Europe, there were families who
disposed of ‘unnecessary’ or unmarriageable daughters by shutting
them away in convents."
what is ‘unnecessary’ or unmarriageable daughters?
Friends/guys/mate
It doesn't sound like a language but more like tradition/custom question
"In love with days" sounds like you're saying that you love days. It doesn't make much sense.
I think it obvious.
"Un-marriageable daughters", daughters who couldn't be married.
In the land of marriages and political families, a daughter who wouldn't marry was absurd. The old word for "woman" is literally "wifman", "wife of the man".
what's the passive voice of "Has he killed the Tiger?"
What's that the question lol

Hello 👋🏼 I wonder if this question is correct when asking the distance between two locations.
"How far is it from the hospital to your house?"
That sounds perfect, to me.
Thank you
yas it is
help make sentences out of words
@tired geyser "i wouldn't make the first move if i "didn't/don't " find u funny"
Karen decided to take a vacation, which she had wanted to do for a long time.
How is this a correct sentence?
What I didnt understand is the use of comma before which
I think a word is missing. "I wouldn't have made the first move if i didn't find u funny"
This sentence means something different "I won't make the first move if i don't find you funny"
Yeah, but it’s hard for me to understand has to add something before days.
It’s just a rule but you can also take away the comma. It’s right if you omit the comma too
hello, how do you pronounce "organize data" ?
I hear "data"
as "dayta" when is the word accompanied with another one
and as "dahta" when is the word alone
Is this correct??
Saying 'dayta' or 'dahta' is fine. Everyone pronounces it differently
This is a reminder that this channel is for answering questions. Please do not ask others in the community to do your homework for you. If you have questions about homework, please attempt it by yourself first and then ask for help when needed.
Hmmm, it is hard to explain. Maybe, it is similar to saying "I'm in love with time". The concept is too abstract
hi! is it “a video WITH your cats” or “a video OF your cats” ? idk which one is more correct
of
A video OF your cats communicates that only the cats are in the video
A video WITH your cats means you and your cats are in the video
Both are correct from a language/grammar perspective. You will want to use the one that accurately describes what is being videoed
Hey guy can u guys teach me how to say although or though
you mean pronunciation?
Vocaroo is a quick and easy way to share voice messages over the interwebs.
Can you explain the difference in meaning when you remove the comma?
The words after the comma are an aside, information that is not needed to understand the meaning of the sentence. The speaker/writer just wants to tell you that Karen decided to take a vacation. Karen wanted to take a vacation and, by the way, she had wanted to do that for a long time. You have to have the comma in this sentence.
In the last one the second sentence is incorrect grammar
Also I think either 1 or 3 could be correct
ok thanks
What does holding family hostage mean
Do you have more context and maybe I could help you a bit more. Holding someone or something hostage means that can’t go anywhere. But it could vary a bit based on context
Someone said “the swat team came cuz Someone called in and said that i was holding my families hostage
Basically it’s implied he had a weapon and wouldn’t let his family leave the home
Think of a criminal holding people at a bank hostage for money
Thanks
“Hoh-tho”?
all tho
'all' sounds like 'oh' right?
Awe like “awwww”?
Thank you
Make sure you pronounce the L
That’s so hard to me haha
L sounds are tricky to many
I can say awe but i cant do awl
try awe and at the end, just bring your tongue behind your teeth like you'd say L in a word
maybe just raising your tongue
Okay i hope i say it right
#🗒|pronunciation if you want me to tell you if you're doing it alright
hi, what does it mean when people say 'post-feminism' and 'neoliberal individualism'?
Enlightenment was an intellectual movement that challenged old ways of thinking and inspired revolutionary ideas. what deoes intellecutal mean in simple words?
what is the different between gulf and bay?
Gulf is larger than a bay
Yeah I love the feeling of not saying it with much details
But it is weird for others 💔 thank you for replied me
'Intellectual' describes something involving knowledge, rationality or study. Writers and professors do intellectual work.
*for replying. And you're welcome!
I think the answer is 3rd option.
Hi guys
Do you know the meaning of "stand for"? In my textbook says that it means "tolerate/protect or defend"
Is that true?
Do you have a sentence that it's used in?
"stand for" is sometimes used in translations or explaining abbreviations, e.g. "AmE stands for American English" = "AmE means American English"
But it might also have the second, less common meaning that you stated.
Hello
I'm setting up new daily reflection questions, hoping anyone here would correct me, any help will be appreciated. ||
you can even correct this sentence too, it was hard for me to put them together.....🥹 || Thank you!
Today is _____
Why?
Did I work toward my goal?
Did I follow up on my routine?
Did I use my time wisely?
What brought me happiness today?
What do I want most in life?
Write the words I need to hear.```
It looks more acceptable right
To get or obtain (something)
It should use () these right for something in that definition
Omg can I use this? Its amazing idk about grammar though but I understand the question and its amazing
Glad you like it, yeah you can use it
I put lots of time to came up with those questions
It will depend on the context.
"I won't stand for this" = "I cannot support this"
"USA stands for United States of America", "stand for" is a way of saying "it means".
"derive" isn't only "get".
Derive means that you acquire something from a specific source, and only that source. It refers to a sort of flow of ownership, i.e. something belonged to my father, so now it is mine.
The parentheses aren't requierd.
But it should be used i think because its not the meaning of that words thats in the parentheses its what it needs to be understood then ?
I mean we dont use parentheses either in my language but it should be for the ones whos learning that language
Thank you so much 🙂
Thank you for your help 😄
Yeah. I would appreciate more examples. That would help me a lot 😄
"The teacher would not stand for the pupils’ unruly behaviour."
This is an example I've encountered somewhere, and that I've taken down some time ago
How do i use the word “deploy” ? What kind of context is usually suitable for this word?
a. To position (troops) in readiness for combat, as along a front or line.
b. To bring (forces or material) into action.
c. To base (a weapons system) in the field.
2. To distribute (persons or forces) systematically or strategically.
3. To put into use or action
I see they use it a lot in military. But can this word be used for business field?
Mostly military, although there's also "software deployment", or to "deploy a parachute".
Perhaps take a look at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deployment_management
Deployment is the realisation of an application, or execution of a plan, idea, model, design, specification, standard, algorithm, or policy.
hmmm..i see i see. Is there any word similar like that, but it is for business?
in my language, it's called "triển khai". We use that word a lot in decress, resolutions, circulars or planning documents.
Does chinese food japanese food italian food canadian food like these has a group name
Google says the word is national dish
Thats the word thanks
Please forgive me for my ignorance; However, I would like to know what the correct word in English would be ? for when a place or a group of people do not feel nor are that strict or heavy but also, everyone is not doing whatever they want because we have rules, and and everyone has their limits
Are marine the same as soliders
Please help me: Do we say ‘They have a better memory capacity’ or ‘they have better memory capacities’?
what does mean "dummies" in things like "books for dummies"?
@timber folio can you help with this?
in this context a dummy means a person who has 0 knowledge in the given topic. a beginner or untrained person basically
I don't think you need to use capacity after using memory.
In English, "deploy" is not exactly used often. It means that you enact something, but by sending it out. You can technically refer to casual movement, but it doesn't sound right.
Society.
Marines are soldiers, but soldiers aren't marines.
A soldier is just a soldier. He is enlisted by the military.
A Marine is a Naval soldier. He fights under the Navy, so they undergo different training and whatnot.
It would be singular, since the object (memory) is singular.
However, you wouldn't say this sentence anyway. Grammatically, it is fine, but it sounds silly because you say the same thing twice.
I need some tips from a native English speaker. I can read and write English really well (Ielts band 7 currently) but when I do talking, my vocabulary is really basic.
How do I improve my vocabulary? (I know many words but I don't use them while speaking)
Maybe the word you want is 'national cuisine'. 'National dish' refers to a specific food.
Maybe the word "implement" would work better in most business contexts
thank you so much 🙏
Speak more often.
How do i use this word in a sentence structure? Is it like 'we would implement to (do something)'?
"We would implement the new software next year." "We are currently implementing a new strategy." etc.
Ah i got it now ty so much 🙏
Guys, I'm from Russia, I need help with my English. My level is below average, namely A0
I dunno, that writing is pretty well.
🤷♂️
The best help you can acquire is from #🗃|resources
ok
Maybe the word you're looking for is "issue" (verb):
- supply or distribute (something).
"licenses were issued indiscriminately to any company"
Oh i will take note of that one
thank you so much 😄
Which one and why?
They debate whether or not it is more beneficial to participate in team sports rather than focus/focusing on individual sports.
Help pleasee
ah sorry about that its discord new automod bug
i whitelisted teachers role from it
no more problems

Focusing is the correct version
Please forgive me for bothering, I would like to know if someone could help me with this
I don't understand your question
What I mean by this is, for example at one place or with a group of friends it feels strict, it feels tight, or it feels a lil heavy. But with another friend group or at another place you can have more fun and enjoy more as it does not feel so strict, tight, and it doesn't feel so heavy
Yes
Hmmmmm, that's tough. Yeah, maybe 'atmosphere' or 'environment'. Not sure there is a good word
“Climate” may be another good word to describe how things are with your friends, as you say they could be “loose” or “tight”
what other verbs are followed by a gerund with to, apart from looking forward to?
These verbs are exceedingly uncommon, so here's what I can think of:
Going to, want to, start to, pretend to, see to
You can put "to" after a lot of verbs, so the only one that really changes meaning is "see to"
Do phrasal verbs have any logic behind them related to the preposition or adverb that is being used?
Feel free to tag me
They asked about gerund after to
||(I've got literally no idea what gerund means)||
DEUSTSCHLAND
||Das ist leider der falscher Chat||
Es ist gut lol
What does this mean?
People not knowing better doesn't mean it isn't bad.
People not knowing better (people not knowing not to do something) doesn't mean it isn't bad (doesn't mean that the thing they're doing is good)
Ah, thank you!
What’s a navy?
it’s a true/false/not given question .The question is: All girls are beautiful? The line from the passage is: Only girls are beautiful.
Military on the sea
True
Can you please explain a little?
Because I’m assuming they would rather you call men handsome, and according to the passage they believe ONLY girls are beautiful
Can u send me a pic of the entire question
Depends on where it is
I have to search for it.
I forget where I watched this
But the line says ONLY so...
Depends on that
And the questions about girls only
It sounds like there is a passage to read before the question, having that would help us know the context
Yeah
Someone post another question so I can procrastinate on doing my own homework
You can learn all about phrasal verbs by our teacher Creative star classes
@tired geyser @noble osprey what does
" why do u have to state the obvious?" mean?
Why do you have to say/write facts, that are completely obvious to all of us (members if the conversation)
what does "runneth over" mean??
"runs over". The "-eth" ending used to be the conjugation for the 3rd person singular, and nowadays is used ironically
The comma separates the independent clause from the dependent clause.
hey, guys. I desire to develop to speak with native speaker. How can I distinguish my pronounce is right?
extra question here. Daily words are different with what I learnt in textbook. I, troubled by usage situations of some words, hopefully make u recommend some valuable lectures about them. thanks a ton 🙌
They are informal, so whatever logic is behind them is lost to most unless you really investigate the specifics. "Breaking down" is easy, but "breaking up" sounds wrong on its own.
Nothing really comes to mind immediately.
thanks
It's asking why you need to mention or explain something everyone already knows.
The most I can say is to make sure that you pronounce the letters and listen to how natives speak.
Don't bother with WOTD. Most of them aren't used in everyday scenarios or even formal ones.
It's better to focus on your own textbook than what is shown here.
what can the metaphor "Heart over ice " mean? going through a difficult time?
hi can someone please help with homework?write in private messages please
Hi, guys, which is correct:
- Me speaks not English.
- Me not speaks English.
It would be: I do not speak English
Regal, real, courtly, aulic
maybe number 2
Neither is grammatically correct.
I know what the phrase 'have got' means but I still don't understand why it is not 'have gotten'. Can someone explain?
"have got" is British English, "have gotten" is American English
"got" is both the simpe past and the past participle of "get" in British English
Alright, here's my next question for connoisseurs:
"I hope the hurricane Fiona didn't hit you. I've been worrying about you."
Does that sound correct?
"I had a headache continuously for 3 days"
Is 'continuously' the proper adverb for this?
you put continuously after 3 days
doesn't sound right tho
What adverb should I use?
or just 'I was having a headache for 3 days'
for 3 days straight
thank you
Yeah, probably 'I had a headache for 3 days straight'
@marble whale @true pier both of the phrases you asked about are grammatically correct lol
Wait no
Smoky's isn't
I hope that huricane Fiona didn't hit you
I would say "for 3 days straight", "continuously" is very posh
Can ‘simply’ be put at the start of a sentence? Or usually in the middle?
Simply can be put all over the sentence, but you would normally see it in the middle.
Ok thanks
do i need a pc to studying?
"I don't speak English."
Royal.
You will not hear "gotten" often.
Maybe in an informal setting, such as "I've gotten that before", but I've not heard that phrase often.
Yes, this is fine.
The "the" prior to "hurricane Fiona" is not used normally but it works.
"I've had a headache for three days now."
‘Do I need a pc to study
Do I need a pc to study
Do I need a pc for studying
To before verbs
For before verbs with -ing
I am going to commit crime
I need a stick for committing crime
are you about to commit a crime?
you need a gun to commit a crime nowadays, with a stick you can only

whats the purpose of learning active and passive voices
how can i apply it
like
on my sentence
What does "racial profiling" mean in this context?
Separate the words and try to construct the meaning.
Racial and profile

Me head isn't getting it
My*
Can you give me an example?
Racial = person of a certain group
Profile = a person’s appearance in society
(Rough definitions, not dictionary)
“The song calls the police out on racial profiling.”
“Hammer claims he was a victim of racial profiling by the police.”
They all mention police
Therefore it probably has smth to do with it
racial profiling is when someone is viewed/treated (typically both) differently due to their race
Yeahhhh that’s direct
But ok then
I was gonna give an in-depth explanation
But you just said it
im not stopping you feel free to continue lol
Usually it’s relating to police being discriminatory towards a certain race by using it to their advantage, perhaps accusing them of committing a crime
Thx for the explanation
np
Thx to you too for your time

hi anyone knows how to speak like british english. like how to learn and pick up the slang, any source or good platform of course for it?
thanks
I’d say Urban Dictionary BUT IT’S PRETTY UH
Rough
Sometimes
nvm here
If you're on Instagram (or TikTok), follow British English teachers
thanks for the help
-> Speaking a dialect
Have a teacher who speaks said dialect.
-> picking up slang
Live in Britain.
yup this is basically correct. dictionaries will take you so far but to actually pick up dialects you need immersion
hi,
What name is given to a person or company that a company does business with in English?
(Eg. Contact)
oftentimes "partner"
Is it sufficient for natural and legal persons?
i'm not sure what you mean. 'partners' is often what businesses call other businesses that they work with
it also has a different usage in law and law firms which i don't know as much about
e.g. the seller in the market and the super market
oh like employees?
sorry, street saler <-> supermarket comp.
if someone is contracted out they might be called an "associate"
So I my first language is English and I had to google what this meant so I would say we rarely use seldom.
Oh wow! I’m surprised! I’m sorry😅 but I’ll change then
Dont be sorry!
Seldom isn’t a common word but it isn’t uncommon either
If you are a native it should be in your vocabulary
Hi
hi! I just have one question about this sentence:
"People who are culturally different can sense reactions to cultural differences, even if they cannot describe them".
cannot describe the differences or the reactions?
Are these people the people who are culturally different, and they can sense the other person's reaction to their culture?
or are these "People" people who sense their own reactions to other people's culture?
yea prolly
could anyone tell me how do you use the adverb "Hitherto"
i find it difficult to use idk it just confuses me
What does nuts mean? like in slang, I often see it but I dunno what does it exactly mean
to go crazy ig?
is this sentence correct? "but The baseball fans saying that" baseball requires more effort than football"is absolutely stupid . @flat rune
Use single quotes for dialogue within quoted text. I.e. "'Silly boy,' they said".
But, no. Your sentence is not correct.
"The baseball fans that say, 'baseball requires more effort than football', are absolutely stupid."
The above is the correct iteration. While you can use "saying", it doesn't ring well to my ears.
The other error is merely numerical. "Are" is for plural, "baseball fan**s**".
thank you for the correction
how do you convey awkwardness?
"Uncomfortably, I stared into the audience, attempting to conceal my crumbling experiment. Everyone in the audience stiffly stared at each other and clapped awkwardly as I brought my presentation to a close. I could tell that they were not impressed with my demonstration."
thats what i have right now ^
but actually wait. "absolutely stupid" is pointed out towards the dialogue and not the fans. it's criticising the saying . any idea how to rephrase it correctly
Now I'm confused.
It is pointed out toward both.
"The baseball fans say, 'baseball requires more effort than football', which is absolutely stupid."
The saying is assumedly dumb and the people who spoke it are understood as fools themselves.
what if u want it to be only for the dialogue
^^
Then it would read similarly to how polar wrote it.
"Some baseball fans say, 'baseball requires more effort than football', which is an absolutely stupid thing to say."
or "It is absolutely stupid that baseball fans say, 'baseball requires more effort than football'."
yeah this is better than mine
i see
what if u replace the adjective "stupid" with a noun?
would it then be correct ?
The reactions are what cannot be described. The actual differences can be.
No.
"The fans say '...' which is an absolutely butterfly thing to say."
oh kk thank you very much
The last statement is unnecessary, because the reader and all can tell the audience was not impressed. You could end it with "What a humiliating result" or something, or simply leave it blank.
Beyond this, your writing is fine. It is conveyed well.
is the word "Quixotic" used only for conveying a romantic theme or could u use it for things that r generally impractical.
||Slang for "testicles"||
In slang/speach you are more likely to hear:
Some basketball fans say 'basketball takes more effort to play than football', which is stupid
i am still confused. how do u say this same sentence with using "but " in the beginning
in a continuous way
I would say:
Some basketball fans think that it's harder to play basketball than football, but I think that's stupid
I reply writing in writing. Slang is too local to mimic in text appropriately on my end.
I do think that was just how people speak through text on the internet tho . . .
thank you. my main point for the last sentence is to linger on the "awkwardness" more to really show how awkward it was on the stage
i want it to stick in the reader's mind

(this is a college essay)
yes
i dont think anyone answered you ?
but your sentence is a little confusing
what does government refelcts the will of the people mean?
I believe they are referring to the differences. I think overall this is a very confusing sentence and should have been rewritten for clarity
Their overall ideals. Like what the people want
Poor example but all Americans are against guns. If the government reflects the will of the people that means the people in power also want to ban guns
Depends on context. "Nuts" can mean a part of male anatomy, but "nuts" can also mean "crazy". So, "that guy is nuts!" means "that guy is crazy!"
anyone know how to show overconfidence?
other than "I had been overconfident that my project would be the best of them all,"
I want to show rather than tell that I was really confident in my project, and let the reader in my head. a bit more about my “ego”
"As i saw myself lose, i realized how presumptuous it was of me to even think my project was the finest of them all."
What is the correct answer explore or discover
d
discover means find a new thing
explore is to look into something youve already found
in my opinion,it should be explore
exactly
Alright thanks guys
May need to Wikipedia that one
Hmm maybe arrogant
People who are overconfident in something like their skills tend to be arrogant I would think
Anytime!

What specifically do you need help with? What are you stuck on?
There are probably two frames of though imo less multitasking is perfectly fine for a job that requires no skill. Think a factory with repeated actions but on the flip side if you are in many other fields you need to be able to multitask to be successful

What the different between hav and did on past tense?
Have in a past tense is had. It means something was in your possession but not anymore.
Did is past tense of do. It means some work you done in past.
You can also use did in a past tense to emphasize
For example: i did watch GoT
There are two verbs in above sentence. Although you used did just to emphasize.
If your question is about past perfect tense in that case it's totally a different story.
Like those sentences containing have and had @ same time.
For example: i have had practiced swimming for 2 years in high school.
We can talk about it as well
Okay thankyouu
tyyy :D
"must"... you shouldn't be using this if you're an exam, just saying if you are 👍
Must/have to

How do I use "these" and "those" correctly in a sentence. I mean when am I suppose to say the words?
What is the differences between "these are their cars" and "those are their cars"?

this and these are for things that are close to you in distance
that and those are for things that are further away
If I see people in a picture then which word should I use?
these
Okey thx
Wow siki I haven’t seen you around in a while
Putting together an outline is a good start
What you mean
Hmm and how’s that
Well you can bullet point each paragraph with 3 main points to give yourself a rough idea of how the essay will turn out
What about the introduction
The introduction I feel you can do last. Don’t get hung up on it and start writing down the other portions of the paper
Alright thanks 😍😘🥰
Yea anytime!
Whats a clincher
What is the difference in meaning between "Pay attention to" and "Keep an eye on"? Can I use both in the same way?
Yes. "Keep an eye on the lesson" / "Pay attention to the lesson"
"Keep an eye on Jett. She's lurking B" / "Pay attention to Jett. She's lurking B"
I think you can use them the same way
What's the Linking verb and the helping verb in this sentence? "If i were you, i wouldn't hide this issue from my parents"
I would say they are used in different ways depending on context
I have this question from someone. So this student asks if the answer is A or C. I told him C but his teacher thinks it’s A after googling. So I wanna ask your opinion.
Man I thought it was C as well but the more I reread with A the more it sounds correct
The use of not go is odd to me
Also why is the teacher using google
Do they not understand the material they are teaching?
I have no idea and apparently i was told that you cant change the sentence given in the question
So you cant say ‘didnt go’ and you have to say ‘not go’ but the sentence will be weird
I mean A makes sense it’s just odd sounding to me
Hi! I need some help with grammar can somebody dm me? Thanks
just ask here
C is the correct answer.
You can ask me, not an expert but i'll try my best.

Is 'i am having a break' a correct sentence?
"im going to take a break" sounds better
Isnt it different in meaning? I want to say that right now i am on break, but can i say i am having a break?
You had it right by saying "Right now, I am on break"
correct, what they said ^
what does broil means in cooking
???
It’s boil, not broil
it is a method of cooking in which the food(usually meat) is cooked by a direct source of heat
R u sure a video said broil
while boiling is to put something in boiling water
What do they broil with
where the heat is transferred indirectly
fire
Oh
or other sources of direct heat
Broil is a word when it comes to cooking
Oh sorry
No worries
It is, but you could instead write "I'm on break right now."
Burn, as in putting something over a fire.

He's saying that the car had a baby and the car's baby had a baby
yes
Why is he using had instead of has?
had a baby refers to giving birth
the car has a baby refers to the fact that the car has a baby alongside him
in this context he used had to suggest that the car gave birth
for comedic effect
Like an actual baby?
could be understood that way
Does it also apply to human beings?
Like my mum just had a baby
it means she just gave birth
Means she just gave birth to the baby
yes
Oh
And my mum has a baby means that my mum indeed has a baby and takes care of the baby it's like the portrayal of having a baby? Idk how else to explain it lol
It just means she "owns" a baby
Hi guys, could anyone tell me if this sentence is correct? "I wish all students had the opportunity to share at least one school year with a person with different capacities"
thank you!
hey there! Is usually use "see you" to finish a job apply message?
For example:
"Hello ...!
Thank you for feedback. I'm still avaiable for future opportunities.
See you!"
Is 8:10 also mean 10 after 8
It only means 10 minutes after 8.
No ‘see you’ is frequently used in informal emails and it never appears in a job application. You should use ‘best regards’ or ‘regards’ to end your emails. It’s more polite and formal.

Hi i have a question, the word advice is an uncountable noun right? In my textbook it said: thats good advice, but im sure ive heard people say: thats a good advice, so are they wrong?
yeah, "thats a good advice" doesnt make sense
I see, thanks
what does it mean when someone say im going to sue you
theyre going to take legal action against you
to seek justice
for example, if your neighbor installs a fence on YOUR property, you can sue them and order a judge to remove it
what mean when people say "break your leg"
"good luck"
its usually "break a leg"
what does justice mean
a principle that people receive that what they deserve
thank u

on
Ty, all are correct right
competitive dance performers focuses on the judges
It is like saying performers eats a lot of food
Focus , on
You would say competitive dance performers focus on the judges
@golden hawk in case subject is plural you gotta avoid adding (s) and (es) after verb
How do u know if you should say house or home
a house just refers to a structure
home is where you live
you usually develop some form of attachment to your home
like you go to your friends house
but in the end
you come back home
how many types of adjectives are there and what are they,
I spent an entire hour trying to find the answers to these 2 questions but couldn't find the right one
is this what you are looking for?
other sources concur that there are atleast 7
it seems like different people have different definitions
you should check your text books or ask the teacher
I will rephrase the question, how many types of adjectives do we use in English like what are the main one ? because I found more than 20 types of adjectives and I'm not sure that we use all of them in English
i think the above 8 is all youll need
the classification really dosent matter
just use the one thats appropriate for the context
alright, thanks for answering my question
Home word gives you more warmth vibes. As if a whole family waiting for you there.
Whereas house gives vibes like residential property something
How and where do you get to know that there's 20 types
I just searched "all types of adjectives in English" and a bunch of sites came out and each of these sites has different types of them so I just calculated the adjectives from each site I visited and the total was more than 20
Can someone help me out with 2nd type conditionals?
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would you change? Answer in 2nd condition. (ex: if i had one wish, i would wish for a million dollars)
<@&909100555157262347>

I have summarized three things needed to learn to reach an advanced level in English. These are vocabularies, phrases and grammar. Anything else I missed?
Start from those yes
I can correct you but only if you try it out yourself first
I can't solve your questions for you
😕
How how to improve my english level?
Read, practice, and write.
after that type of improving i think i'm C2 but im not
You will not reach C2 unless you have been practicing for years upon years.
A house is just the structure.
A home is where you consider your heart to be, in a sense. It is where you have the most attachment.
Thus, your home can be a country, a state, a street, etc.
i've learned english by talking with english people soo my grammar level i'm not so sure if it's better ot not
You have to condition your mind to think in english
The point where you've really become fluent is when you instinctively swear in english
And just keep talking to people
sometimes i have a moment when my thoughts are in english bt bc i need to think in my native language which at grammar level or when it's about to think to write it's harder than english
Try to do it more often
i want to speak it bc just doing with my self it's not enough
Yeah, English is generally seen as the "easy" tongue in comparison to others.
You can speak it here in the voice channels.
Honestly, you seem well enough. About B1~2 if I were to guess solely from your few messages.
i dont say english is easy bc after statistics of world i'm saying that it's more harder for me to translate from my native language to english becouse sometimes there are some hard words or hard statements and when u just try to translate in english the sentence lose the meaning
I think it's just the environment you're jn
That happens with translation in general.
yes but i want to improve my english to be more fluent
When you're younger, you learn any tongue at an exponentially faster rate.
also and grammar
I'm sure there are many people here to help
To be honest, "Im", just focus on speaking with others.
that's what im trying to do i want to speak it bc its a lovely language for me
If you want to become fluent in spoken English, you need to speak more.
As much as you possibly can.
Preferably with native or fluent speakers.
I am kind of introverted and don’t really like to socialize but I am listening to the native speaker’s audio and repeating it in another expression.
Hello world i'm new here
Hi. How is going?
Never been better, so i'm here to live the english environment with special people like you guys
My answer was "If i changed one thing about myself, it would be my eyes."
Take an online English test (there are tons of them for free out there) and see what gaps you have in your grammar knowledge

Advance? really?? With all due respect, i think he's a beginner or b1 intermediate. And you call yourself a native?? Now I doubt it.
Typically when it comes to assertions on proficiency we can all assess differently and also a vast majority of natives here are not collegiate graduated teachers but simply helpers.
Correcting the answers you gave: 1) should be "leading"; 5) should be "application"
On the seconf page, 1) should be "vacancy"
Hello guys
I've found that the average native English speaker (especially Americans) is not familiar with the CEFR levels, so has no idea what C1 (advanced) entails.
It might be a level that you can read most of articles without misunderstanding.
And you are capable to write an academic essay.
Hey guys. Could you explain to me what the word "nag" means as a verb and a noun? I don't get it when someone says that a person is a nag.
The word is confusing for me. I looked for its meaning, but I'm sill confused.
Feel free to tag me
Which one is correct? Go see a doctor or go see the doctor?
In the first one, the person is telling you to go to see any doctor, whereas in the second one the person is telling you to see a specific doctor that you already know and/or was motioned before.
Ah okay, so both are correct, just different in meaning... Thanks!
Hey, I'm happy to answer this one. The simplified meaning in my words means to bug someone over and over about something, ex: "do this, do that, do this too"
To nag = to annoy someone continuously
Reaching C2 is hard work.
It requires years and years on end.
What if we use it as a noun. What does "nag" mean for a noun
I would assume it would have to do with annoyance.
i would think personally that "nag" can be used as a verb, adjective
ok i got it, thanks guys
of course
Can someone explain this to me? Thank you sm.
The issue of English and where English fails is a matter of postcolonial concern crucially linked to a national culture and national pride.
What the actual-
Can you post more of the context?
Hello 👋
Can someone enlighten me how to properly use “ I got it” vs “I get it” ? Thanks in advance!
“I got it” is past tense, “i get it” is present
Eg “Thank you for giving me this the other day, I just got it”
“This is how it works? Now I get it”
Thanks for clearing up! Now I get it.
Hello
It's simple actually,
In colonial era Britishers imposed English in judiciary system, administration and everywhere they possibly could. After a country got independence from Britishers natives re-established their own Language and culture's influence or you can say essence. It is indeed about their(native's) nation's pride.
*Britons
i think it means afraid of turning away business
Without context, I assume it means "a really specific fear". For example, if someone was afraid of a certain type of pencil, maybe you could call that a 'niche fear'

Upon Moses’ return to his people, ˹totally˺ furious and sorrowful, he said, “What an evil thing you committed in my absence! Did you want to hasten your Lord’s torment?” Then he threw down the Tablets and grabbed his brother by the hair, dragging him closer. [Al-A'raf 150]
Based on the context what part of his brother's hair did Moses grab?
hi guys, in which meaning is used vibrant in this 'vibrant democracy'?
In this context, mostly strong or bright
It’s not specified, but I’m assuming Moses is facing him and therefore grabbed the side of his head
It could mean
Good democracy
Well-working democracy
powerful democracy
something like that
It's not specified, but I'm assuming Moses grabbed the front part of his brother's hair.
Where does the "nd", "rd" and "th" "st" come from when used in numbers for example: 1st, 2nd 3rd and 4th ?
Oh sorry i did not copied the next sentence.
The issue of English and where English fails is a matter of postcolonial concern crucially linked to a national culture and national pride. The promotion of English is less an issue of nationalism and more a problem of economic.
Can you further elaborate this and maybe give example? I don't fully understand what it is trying to say. Thank you sm.
What the different between may and might?
@summer plank when i and my friend @left ferry get a mute becouse we have it yestarday for 6 h and we dont have un mute
They are both modal verbs and they have quite similar usage, however might is mostly used in cases when we want to emphasize the small odds of something happening e.g. "It might happen, but it is very rare". May is mostly used in formal situations or when we just want to be kind. It often goes with question forms, e.g. "May I go to the toilet?"
May can be also used as might, emphasizing the small odds, but it is a rare usage of it
Ohhh thank you so much
I might try to flirt with you but you may never understand.
"I might try to flirt with you" which means I'll try to hit on you but the chances are low
"but you may never understand" which means cause your English isn't good (ig) so there are higher chances that you won't understand.
i dont know who muted me but i have mut for 6 hours and i didn't have unmute yet
I guess from the ancestor of the Germanic languages. Ordinal numbers are similar in German (a language I'm learning): erste (1st), zweite (2nd), dritte (3rd), vierte, fünfte etc.
I just googled it, they are used because of the last two letters of each number
I thought you were asking aboout the etymology.
I was but also wasn't 😆
<@&909100555157262347> can someone unmute me?
becouse i have mute on 6h yesterday
and i didn't get unmute
thanks
Are you still muted?
no i have un mute
Ok 👍
hey @misty terrace i have a 1 more question
What’s up
can my friend @left ferry have unmute too becouse he have same like me
Let me look into it
ok
Are you sure he is still muted?
no he's not thanks a lot
👍
How would you define the word "endeavor"? We don't have that word in my language (I think xD )
Both words are fairly similar but you use whether to describe options, and if to describe a situation
It’s like persist in doing something and you put most of the effort in your work. In another words, you work so hard to get something
thank you so much
Np
Hey thanks. I know IF but sometimes when i see WHETHER in a sentence i get confused.
You can use that synonymously I think.
They both mean that they come with a conditional clause
If requires a singular condition.
Whether can have two and is more formal or outright.
You will never hear "I'll do this if you like it or not".
May is the casual version of might. The only time it holds more emphasis is when you express possibility, but it is better to say "probable" or "improbable" than "may" if you want to give a specific distinction.
English is promoted in the West because the USA and UK have a lot of power due to businesses established on their mainland (for Britain, one can refer to postcolonialism).
It's basically saying that English is only promoted due to its use economically, rather than any adherence or allegiance to a country.
Now, oddly enough, this thing says two different ideas. One is that there is an issue with English in terms of postcolonialism, and the other is that it is still promoted and fine.
The main part, prolly.
It's just their sounds.
First (st), second (nd), third (rd), fourth (th), etc.

Hello. I just want to make sure if my grammar is correct. Please help.
She loves reading. It doesn't matter if the book is full of pictures or full of words. She's a voracious reader, as is typical. She loves anime, k-drama, period movies or series, and documentaries. She likes books and movies that will blow her mind. She spends a lot of free time exploring various random topics that pique her interest.
She had never considered taking a BS Psychology course. She really wants to pursue a BS in Biology or a BA in Multimedia because she has always been interested in the arts, but things don't always go as planned.
My older sister encourages me to enroll in KLD and take a BS Psychology course since it will be beneficial for me to know myself more. One of my friends, who's also a BS Psychology freshman, said that he will take this course because he doesn't have the money to consult a psychiatrist, so he'll be his own psychiatrist instead.
Though she's a Catholic, she's not that religious. She never goes to church but respects every religion.
I do acknowledge every person's beliefs. Whether they believe in the existence of God or not. Whether they believe in science or religion, it doesn't matter. I really don't care as long as they respect someone whose beliefs are different from theirs. For me, I believe that God does exist and is always guiding us, and I also believe in science. After all, both science and religion provide justification for the existence of life and the universe.
Well, l "the precision of the universe at least makes it logical to conclude there's a creator."
this is not an essay. this is my script for a video that I need to submit this week.
could som1 help me?
just need to complete these sentences
- Even though the youth is exposed to digital manipulation,
- because I love myself,
- Maria Victoria, keeping her family strong,
- Behind all the success story of Rani,
- Kristel, Amy, and Rovee,
"painted by someone and me"
You can't use "I" since it's a subject pronoun; you don't say, for example, "this article was written by I"
I guess we need some context
Teens, when they undergo puberty and wet dreams, imagine women and people that they like. Some suffer this more than others.
Beyond the Catholic part probably earning a weird eye, it is grammatically correct.
It's a play off of Smallpox and the Democratic party of the USA. It's calling the party a disease.
The name suddenly comes up in my mind or in my head? Which one is correct?
a) the name suddenly comes up in my mind
b) the name suddenly comes up in my head
A or B is correct?
Both sound a little unnatural.
"the name suddenly came to mind"
EVERYONE is singular or plural?
Singular. "Everyone is going to the party"
I would say plural
nvm
"The word “everyones” does not exist in the English language, and neither does “everyones'.” Here it is also useful to note that “everyone” does not have a plural form. It is an indefinite singular pronoun, which means it refers to an indefinite or unknown number of people."
Singular. "Everyone lost his job, everyone is coming to the party, everyone is dancing".
That first example doesn't look right at all
Hello, goons.
