Currently LPS packs are not being updated on the Modrinth site, and as such are outdated. This is while the devs figure out a way to automate uploads of the pack properly.

Until the packs can be properly updated, we recommend using ATL (use !alternates in #bots for further info on the installation process ) or Prism launcher. You can download the CurseForge version of our packs on these launchers while still being able to make instances from Modrinth versions of other packs not owned by us.

Please note this does not apply to individual mod projects of developers at LPS.

Free Method

To host a server on your own computer, read the selfhosting guide.
This guide goes over how to install, create, and launch a free Minecraft server on all operating systems (MacOS, Linux and Windows). The guide also guides you through installing Java and optimizing your server for better performance.

If you are installing one of our older modpacks, ignore the "README" file that is included in the serverpack files, as they have outdated information.

Paid Method

We suggest renting a server from Bisect Hosting:
Approx. $10 - $25 a month depending on what plan you choose. You can also get 25% off with Code LunaPixel.

Go here and order a plan which fits you. We suggest 1GB per player but nothing lower than 4GB as the server needs at least 3GB to run.

Go to #server-hosting for more Info!

The following advice works for both the Free and Paid methods:

Transferring Your World

If you're playing Singleplayer and want to transfer your world to your server, simply go to your modpack files and navigate to the saves folder. Inside of this folder, you will see your world saves. Rename your desired world save to world. You can then transfer this folder to your server files. If your world was hosted via world sharing, this process has to be done by the person who would click "Share World".

Fixing Lag

To resolve lag issues, simply run the !tps command in #bots and follow the directions provided.

  2. Prism Launcher
  3. Added two mods, Chunky and Bluemap. No changes to the base pack itself.
  4. BMC3 v38
  5. Certain crash, from testing.
  6. Simply pre-generating the world. The setup I run is a Fabric Server inside of a Docker Container, with the memory limit set to 12GB, MeowIce's JVM Flags and the server pack available on CurseForge for the version above. I have managed to pre-generate a 7.5k radius of my world with (at least, to my knowledge) no problems whatsoever. I have attempted to increase this to a 10k radius, of which at some point during the process, the server will hang and eventually crash due to watchdog (I have changed the max tick time to varying lengths and unfortunately it does not seem to help). I re-enabled Bluemap to see if there was an obvious place on the map that was causing the crash and it seemed to highlight a point where the pre-generation process suddenly stopped. I teleported to that place on the map and while the chunk did load in, the server began to hang and eventually kicked me from the game again. I've copied the seed into a Singleplayer map and teleporting to the same place that crashes the server and it loads absolutely fine. I can provide this information if needed.

Edit: Here's the latest crash report: https://mclo.gs/4IAomTK

Please follow the guide here for changing the Java version your server uses. This will improve performance dramatically. If you are on a third party server host, you likely can not change the Java version your server uses. Bisect Hosting and a few VPS providers do allow changing Java version, though, which can usually be done through your server dashboard.

The method on Bisect is to simply go to the main dashboard page, and select "GraalVM 22" as the Java distribution. If it crashes, use 21 instead.

For further performance improvements, you can also follow this guide.

Reducing server render distance in the server.properties file is also a very good way of reducing lag. Most of our modpacks include mods like Bobby and Farsight, which make it so reducing server render distance will not affect players.

If lag persists, run the following command ingame:
/spark profiler start --only-ticks-over 50
Then, send the link in this channel.

Hello, I changed over the Java Version that my server was using over to GraalVM 21, as well as applied the JVM Flags that were recommended in this, however, I still experience the crash when teleporting to that specific chunk.

Here's the spark profiler, I don't know how long it'll last though:

If this command was run in response to your question/issue, it is likely because switching away from the launcher you are currently using would fix your problem.
From our experience, the most stable launcher by far is ATLauncher, also known as ATL. Keep in mind that ATL is NOT related to TLauncher in any way, and is not a cracked launcher.

To install ATL, do the following:
1. Go to https://atlauncher.com/download. If you are on MacOS, then choose the "Jar" version under the "Other" tab.
2. Install and run the setup, then open the program.
3. Login to your Microsoft account that owns the Java Edition of Minecraft from the Accounts tab on the right. This process is 100% safe, as it goes directly through Microsoft. ATL doesn't see your account credentials.
4. Go to the Packs tab on the right, then click "Curseforge" on the left.
5. Search the modpack you wish to download.
6. Click "Install". Then, follow the on-screen directions.
7. Go to the Instances tab, and click "Play" on the modpack you downloaded. If you ever see an "Update" button on the instance, click it.
This video explains the process: https://youtu.be/xMYW1wMbmkM

To transfer your Curseforge world to ATL, simply right click the modpack on Curseforge, or click the 3 dots, then click "Open Folder". Copy the Saves folder, then click "Open Folder" on ATL and paste the Saves folder there. Do the same with the XaerosMinimap folder, or the Journeymap folder, to transfer over any waypoints you've created.
Because ATL downloads the exact same files as Curseforge does, your world will be the exact same and you will be able to join the same servers. ATL also works without an internet connection (after you've installed the modpack, of course), and does not have any bloat from Overwolf. You are free to uninstall both Overwolf and Curseforge with ATL installed.

The Essential mod is completely incompatible with all of our modpacks, and there's no reason to use it. All of our modpacks already come with built-in, free world hosting, by clicking the "Share World' button in the Open to LAN menu. You can learn more by typing !ws in the #bots channel. You can also run type !server in the same channel to learn how to properly host a server for better performance and more flexibility. In modpacks that aren't owned by us, you can use mods such as e4mc or WorldHost to host a server completely for free without Essential's many issues and crashes and the microtransactions that they constantly bother users with. • Curseforge -> Right click the modpack instance -> „Open Folder”.
  • ATLauncher -> Click „Open Folder” on the modpack instance.
  • MultiMC -> Select your instance and click „Instance Folder” on the right.
  • PrismLauncher -> Select your instance and click „Folder” on the right.
  • For servers -> Open the folder containing your server files.

To find the „latest.log” file, navigate to the 'logs' folder.
To find the „hs_err_pid.log” file, simply look for the file name after opening the instance folder.
To find a crash report, navigate to the „crash-reports” folder and find the most recent file after your crash occurred.

Once located, please upload the requested file here. If it fails, upload to https://mclo.gs/ and share the link here.

!server host a server on your pc instead

You are using a modified version of the modpack!

Adding, removing, or updating large amounts of mods without testing any of your changes is **not **a good idea, and it is very unlikely that anyone will want to debug your issue for you. Please test the changes you make in small groups, as opposed to doing all of the changes at once.

If you want further support for your issue, someone may respond to you in the channel for the modpack you based your changes off, but please only post once. You may also have better luck in #1061339968691257466.

hello there dear folks! ❤️ I am in dire need of help to get my modpack even started and working...
I understod that in order to get propper support I should clarify the following:

  1. What Minecraft version are you using?
    Minecraft 1.20.1 (Fabric Loader 0.17.2)

  2. What launcher did you run Minecraft with?
CurseForge Launcher running on Linux (ParrotOS -Debian12 based)

  3. Have you changed the modpack in any way?
No, I have not modified the modpack. I only attempted to point the JVM to the system GLFW library before, but I removed that change.

  4. What version of the modpack are you using?
    BTMC - V36

  5. Have you ever gotten past the crash condition without crashing, or does the game always crash?
The game always crashes at startup, before reaching the main menu...

  6. What steps cause the crash?
Launch Minecraft via CurseForge with the modpack.
Fabric loader and mods start loading.
The crash occurs before the main menu appears, with errors related to org.lwjgl.glfw.GLFW and UnsatisfiedLinkError / NullPointerException... Highly strange as I could play the vanilla version of minecraft just fine.

Best regards,
Morpheus

hazy sparrowBOT
#

For users who are experiencing issues with the built-in GLFW, there's a quick and easy solution for you to use the latest, bug-free GLFW that can remedy the solution.

  1. Download a pre-built GLFW library from my repository at https://github.com/Frontear/glfw-libs/releases. Ensure you download the correct file from the desription of the release. You may also compile it yourself, details can be found here: https://www.glfw.org/docs/latest/compile.html
  2. Save the file in a location you can remember and will NOT delete (the file MUST stay there or else it will stop working)
  3. In your launcher, go to the java parameters (this is the place you put your GC arguments), and add -Dorg.lwjgl.glfw.libname=/path/to/the/file. If, for example, you downloaded the file in your Downloads (C:\Users\Me\Downloads\glfw3.dll, then your argument would be -Dorg.lwjgl.glfw.libname=C:\Users\Me\Downloads\glfw3.dll)

To learn more about alternatives to the Essential mod, check out this website.

To properly update the modpack you're playing, it depends on the launcher you are using. This video can explains it on CurseForge launcher, and the same method can be used on other launchers as well, but it's not necessary to use this method on others.

  • CurseForge - See above video

  • PrismLauncher -> Select your instance, and click "Edit" on the right. the 3rd tab down will say "CurseForge", click on it, and there will be a dropdown menu, if not already selected, the latest version of the pack will be at the top of it. click "Update Pack". Sometimes there will be new mods to manually download due to liscensing issues, click "Open Missing" and it will automatically download and checked, and copied to the instance folder. It's safe to delete these mods in your downloads folder once done. Once all are detected, the "Open Missing" will be grayed out. You can click 'Continue" at this point, and it will finish the update process and tell you when its successful.

  • ATLauncher - Under the "Instances" tab, find the pack you would like to update. there will be an "Update" button. There will be a dropdown menu, and if not already selected, the latest version of the pack will be at the top of it to select. Click "Update" once selected. Sometimes there will be new mods to manually download due to licensing issues, click "Open Missing" and it will automatically download and checked, and copied to the instance folder. It's safe to delete these mods in your downloads folder once done. Once all are detected, You can click "OK ", and it will finish the update process.

Until the packs can be properly updated, we recommend using ATL (use !alternates in #bots for further info on the installation process ) or Prism launcher. You can download the CurseForge version of our packs on these launchers while still being able to make instances from Modrinth versions of other packs not owned by us.

how do i do the free server hosting locally on my pc

Hi! I'm getting this warning in my server logs with VisualWorkbench mod:
[11:03:57] [main/WARN]: Reference map 'visualworkbench.fabric.refmap.json' for visualworkbench.fabric.mixins.json could not be read. If this is a development environment you can ignore this message

  • Fabric Loader: 0.17.2
  • VisualWorkbench version: 21.8.1
  • Fabric API: 0.133.4+1.21.8

The server starts and seems to work normally, but I'm concerned if this warning indicates any compatibility issues or potential problems. Should I be worried about this reference map warning?

If you are using a cracked Minecraft launcher, we can not assist with your issue. In order to receive help, you need to switch to an approved launcher and provide proof you have purchased Minecraft. This is due to the terms of service and guideline agreements of both Mojang and Discord.

Hi. I'm having an issue where my friend and I can't join our server. The server launches fine with no errors when it starts or when any of us join. The error is within the client. Whenever any of us tries to join we get this error:

java.lang.IllegalStateException: Missing key in ResourceKey[minecraft:root / minecraft:damage_type]: ResourceKey[minecraft:damage_type / frostiful:icicle]`

I haven't installed any other mods.

Can you upload the newest Modpack to a server somehow to play with friends?
