If you're having issues with your friends joining your server, your port for Minecraft may be closed.

  1. Check with https://portchecker.co/ with your IP and Minecraft's port (drop down menu) to see if it's open.

  2. If it's closed you will need to search online "How to open Minecraft port for server with (ISP Name)

Important note: a lot will allow port forwarding, but there may be some ISPs that will not allow any port forwarding. Please check online if this is the case for yours.

Required:

Open the game directory (right click pack -> open folder), navigate to the "crash-reports" folder and upload the latest available crash report.
If there is no crash report, navigate to the logs folder and upload "latest.log."
If there is no log, navigate to the base pack directory and upload the hs_err_pid file, if there is one.

The Essential mod is completely incompatible with all of our modpacks, and there's no reason to use it. All of our modpacks already come with built-in, free world hosting, by clicking the "Share World' button in the Open to LAN menu. You can learn more by typing !ws in the ⁠#bots channel. You can also run type !server in the same channel to learn how to properly host a server for better performance and more flexibility. In modpacks that aren't owned by us, you can use mods such as e4mc or WorldHost to host a server completely for free without Essential's many issues and crashes and the microtransactions that they constantly bother users with. Please follow the guide here for changing the Java version your server uses. This will improve performance dramatically. If you are on a third party server host, you likely can not change the Java version your server uses. Bisect Hosting and a few VPS providers do allow changing Java version, though, which can usually be done through your server dashboard.

The method on Bisect is to simply go to the main dashboard page, and select "GraalVM 22" as the Java distribution. If it crashes, use 21 instead.

For further performance improvements, you can also follow this guide.

Reducing server render distance in the server.properties file is also a very good way of reducing lag. Most of our modpacks include mods like Bobby and Farsight, which make it so reducing server render distance will not affect players.

If lag persists, run the following command ingame:
/spark profiler start --only-ticks-over 50

Moon For Mac devices using Apple Silicon/arm (M1/M2/etc.) CPUs

There is an issue with Java 17.0.8 and newer where you may experience "A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment", which can cause the Java runtime to crash under a variety of circumstances. To resolve this:
Mac:

  1. Go here and hover over the Download buttons until you see one with the option to install a .dmg file. If you have an M-series Mac, then make sure to install the ARM64 version of this file.
  2. Install ATLauncher and open it. For more information on how to install and use ATLauncher, run the !alternates command in #bots.
  3. Click "Settings" on the right
  4. Click "Java/Minecraft" at the top
  5. Set "Use Java Provided by Minecraft" to false by unchecking the checkbox
  6. Manually specify the following Java path in the text box to the left to the "Reset" button: /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/zulu-21.jdk/Contents/Home

If this command was run in response to your question/issue, it is likely because switching away from the launcher you are currently using would fix your problem.
From our experience, the most stable launcher by far is ATLauncher, also known as ATL. Keep in mind that ATL is NOT related to TLauncher in any way, and is not a cracked launcher.

To install ATL, do the following:
1. Go to https://atlauncher.com/download. If you are on MacOS, then choose the "Jar" version under the "Other" tab.
2. Install and run the setup, then open the program.
3. Login to your Microsoft account that owns the Java Edition of Minecraft from the Accounts tab on the right. This process is 100% safe, as it goes directly through Microsoft. ATL doesn't see your account credentials.
4. Go to the Packs tab on the right, then click "Curseforge" on the left.
5. Search the modpack you wish to download.
6. Click "New Instance". Then, follow the on-screen directions.
7. Go to the Instances tab, and click "Play" on the modpack you downloaded. If you ever see an "Update" button on the instance, click it.

To transfer your Curseforge world to ATL, simply right click the modpack on Curseforge, or click the 3 dots, then click "Open Folder". Copy the Saves folder, then click "Open Folder" on ATL and paste the Saves folder there. Do the same with the XaerosMinimap folder, or the Journeymap folder, to transfer over any waypoints you've created.
Because ATL downloads the exact same files as Curseforge does, your world will be the exact same and you will be able to join the same servers. ATL also works without an internet connection (after you've installed the modpack, of course), and does not have any bloat from Overwolf. You are free to uninstall both Overwolf and Curseforge with ATL installed.

hello guys ! I'm currently playing this modpack, but I encountered a bug, idk if some of you have the same problem as me : the ominous trial spawner doesn't spawn mobs if those are supposed to wear an armor ( like zombies mobs and skeleton mobs), but spawns all of the other mobs (like spiders, slimes, and breezes). Idk if I'm the only one to have this problem, (if my world is corrupted, maybe) but if anyone has a solution I will take it.

after updating my server i can no longer connect. i get "Client disconnected with reason: Internal Exception: io.netty.handler.codec.EncoderException: Failed to encode packet 'clientbound/minecraft:custom_payload' (configured:session_data)". Ive never had issues running their generic pack feature. I tried stoneblock 3 with the curseforge api method and it worked okay. probably had bugs i wasnt aware of. The zip method seems to be pretty consistent (have used it for years) and ill be staying with that in the future.

It never removed anything, the issue was it only uses the client packs with the api. It allows excludes through a json if the mod isnt declared as a client mod on curseforge, but that is way to much work. The only issue i have with the zip method is i have to make sure i make changes to the zip config files/mods if i need to manually update one.

Please follow the guide here for changing the Java version your server uses. This will improve performance dramatically. If you are on a third party server host, you likely can not change the Java version your server uses. Bisect Hosting and a few VPS providers do allow changing Java version, though, which can usually be done through your server dashboard.

The method on Bisect is to simply go to the main dashboard page, and select "GraalVM 22" as the Java distribution. If it crashes, use 21 instead.

For further performance improvements, you can also follow this guide.

Reducing server render distance in the server.properties file is also a very good way of reducing lag. Most of our modpacks include mods like Bobby and Farsight, which make it so reducing server render distance will not affect players.

If lag persists, run the following command ingame:
/spark profiler start --only-ticks-over 50

Because ATL downloads the exact same files as Curseforge does, your world will be the exact same and you will be able to join the same servers. You are free to uninstall both Overwolf and Curseforge with ATL installed.

Thank you! I have been playing BMC-Forge for a while but I wanted to change to BMC-Fabric to play in the 1.21 version. I used both CurseForge and ATLauncher, just honestly simply installed the modpack on the launchers and started playing, but in both cases after 10/15 minutes the game just freezes. It completely stops, I can’t click anything, I juts hear the sounds but I can’t see the cursor or move my player. I don’t know if I should add a different launcher to play Fabric (I always played Forge in the past, never used Fabric until BMC). This problem only shows with Fabric installiation, though, the 1.20 from Forge works just the same and I really can’t understand why

hello!

Any help on this would be very much appriciated

currently i have been running "BMC3 Fabric 1.21.1" V21 for my minecraft server.

i wanted to update the server to V23. i then went into modpacks and found "BMC3" clicked on install and selected version V23.

after that i tried to start my server and this image comes up, i then tried to reinstall V23 again and wipe all current data from the server. but it doesnt work

the backup works fine and i can always go back, but how do i go about to properly update my minecraft server?

Hi guys. I'm quite new to the Java edition of Minecraft, because I played Bedrock before. I was wondering why the recipe book has items that can't be clicked even though I have the required items. Also why aren't the recipes for weapons and tools not shown? When I play the java version without Better MC I think the weapons and tools are there and are clickable.

So Started a new world with BMC3 to see if maybe it was just a weird thing about the backpack.. Nope.. Backpack is equiped to the right slot, but B and any other Key does not open the backpack inventory.

So i tried to start a new world in Prominence 2 rpg. But when i clicked Create world it crashed. I don't know what is happening and why its crashing. I did what the Crash assistant said below....

We don't support Aternos nor can we assist you with using it for reasons listed below;

  1. You are unable to add / edit the mods to implement a fix that can be game changing at times.
  2. We are unable to control the updates of our packs on Aternos, nor ever will.
  3. The hosting is not strong enough to host our packs on there without it crashing every so often.
  4. We have other free methods that work much better than Aternos does. Run the !ws command and the !server command in #bots for more information on how to host a server for free.

From our experience, the most stable launcher by far is ATLauncher, also known as ATL. Keep in mind that ATL is NOT related to TLauncher in any way, and is not a cracked launcher.

To install ATL, do the following:
1. Go to https://atlauncher.com/download. If you are on MacOS, then choose the "Jar" version under the "Other" tab.
2. Install and run the setup, then open the program.
3. Login to your Microsoft account that owns the Java Edition of Minecraft from the Accounts tab on the right. This process is 100% safe, as it goes directly through Microsoft. ATL doesn't see your account credentials.
4. Go to the Packs tab on the right, then click "Curseforge" on the left.
5. Search the modpack you wish to download.
6. Click "Install". Then, follow the on-screen directions.
7. Go to the Instances tab, and click "Play" on the modpack you downloaded. If you ever see an "Update" button on the instance, click it.

To transfer your Curseforge world to ATL, simply right click the modpack on Curseforge, or click the 3 dots, then click "Open Folder". Copy the Saves folder, then click "Open Folder" on ATL and paste the Saves folder there. Because ATL downloads the exact same files as Curseforge does, your world will be the exact same and you will be able to join the same servers. ATL also works without an internet connection (after you've installed the modpack, of course), and does not have any bloat from Overwolf. You are free to uninstall both Overwolf and Curseforge with ATL installed.

hello! I'm playing on a server with a friend and we recently updated the modpack from v21 to v23 and since then, some of the mobs in our mob farm are invisible and cannot be hit, we can hear them and see them landing and a fall damage noise happens, but we can't see or hit them :S anyone know what could be causing it or how to fix it?

I'm not sure if i should ask in this channel but. Im hosting better mc fabric 1.21.1 BMC3 V23 on my home server using Crafty(docker container for hosting minecraft servers). The server is running fine and my friends can join and play but I'm getting a lot of errors maybe I didn't configure/start the server correctly or maybe crafty is not supported. Can someone help me. The server is not shutting down properly as well here is the server log file.

Required:

Open the game directory (right click pack -> open folder), navigate to the "crash-reports" folder and upload the latest available crash report.
If there is no crash report, navigate to the logs folder and upload "latest.log."
If there is no log, navigate to the base pack directory and upload the hs_err_pid file, if there is one.
