Hey I have a question, I can’t use optifine on better minecraft. Wait! Listen. I’ve deleted the magnesium mod but it still won’t work. I’m using 1.16.5 and I am using the curseforge app and also optifine G8 1.16.5 . I’ve allocated 20 gigabites of ram to it but it still says freezing data when it’s about to load fully. I’ve tried using optiforge with it but it only let me load in with it twice and if I tried to load a shader or even a texture pack it would crash. Is there something I am doing wrong? It shouldn't mess up things, create a backup of the world first though on the off chance it doesn't. I'd imagine it involves replacing the mods and configs, etc with the updated stuff but I could be wrong. The most certain way would be to set it up again with the updated version and place your world folder into the server then.

Keep in mind this guide won't cover port forwarding, just how to setup the server itself. You'll have to figure out how to do that since it's dependent on your wifi, router, etc.

It's somewhat complicated so if you don't understand anything that is going on, just look at bisect hosting (more info in #server-hosting), you can rent a pre setup server for a decent price considering what you get from it

All you need to do on there is select the modpack to set it up, and then give your friends the address

also, just one thing before we continue on the Optfine saga
I spent a lot of time on the Nether and End, and then i realised I didn't have the resourcepacks installed, that made REALLY hard to find somethings (like the awful ghast temple) i actually only found it after adding the resourcepacks
there's any way I can reset my nether and End so those things would spawn more frequently?

Make sure the run.bat is able to run by having the correct java version running it

So if you are making a 1.16.5, make sure to have only java 8

There is a way to force direct it without uninstalling the later versions, but it's easier to just have the 8.

Obviously just an example for 1.16.5, 1.17.1 and 1.18.1 require updated java versions

Not really, no. You'll have to stick to the fabric packs for best performance or use the later mc versions with 6gb max allocation
