Hi, I'm having a really strange issue that I'm not really sure the cause of is? I wanted to add a few more mods to the modpack for a playthrough with me and my friend, but they're just. Not loading??
This actually happened with four other mods that came with the pack too that I had to download manually, the only common thread between all of them is that they're jar.zip

I installed the modpack with PolyMC and have been running it off that, if that helps. The mods show up in its instance mods list, they just straight up won't load ingame

I've never had this issue before with Forge either so I'm really confused

winrar is associated with jars instead of java

could be a polymc issue

or it's an issue with how you're downloading the modpack (how are you downloading it?)

you can also try JarFix but idk if that'd fix this

What is doing damage to me in The Abyss? It just started happening a few minutes ago and it's just a constant tick that doesn't go away. Tried drinking milk to remove effects but it's still there.

Found out the issue to this; ultimately it ended up technically being Firefox's fault instead of PolyMC-- basically, Firefox sometimes downloads jars as zips depending on the website. CurseForge specifically does this, and for whatever reason, PolyMC can't read these even if you try to remove the .zip extenstion

Workaround is just to download them through a different browser or PolyMC (if able, some mods in the default BetterMC can't be downloaded through it: Cultural Delights, Verdure, Illager Plushies, and Creatures from the Lush Caverns)

I don't think this bug would necessarily happen with any other launchers so long as it was setup right, but I like PolyMC too much to switch

Been playing 1.16.5 for almost a week now, played for a decent bit today no issues, just loaded up an hour ago and constant stuttering, memory also seems to be spiking high for some reason, aboslutely nothing on in the background, tried even loading a new world to test it and was still getting the same results.. Game runs smooth, then kind of freezes for a second, then repeats, 9gb allocated as well. 😕 anyone got any ideas on how to fix? frame rates don't seem to be the issue either, I've tried lowering settings, changing render distance etc, nothing seems to work, also seems to be an issue only with minecraft every other game seems to be running with no issues 😦

Make sure you have allocated the correct RAM amount. Overall, you can allocate 8gb if you have at least 12gb of ram total. The #faq has guides on how to allocate ram. You can remove the mods dynamicSurroundings / ImmseriveFX and SimpleRPC. In addition, you can try a more lightweight launcher like GDLauncher or MultiMC, guides are in the #faq on how to use them.
