Short version we have plenty of money to build sage out (web browser game) and the Ue5 game production slowed a bit but it’s still going too and as they get more revenue and as the tokens rise in value they’ll be able to slowly scale up again but like vb said we are in a much better position now to survive after they did the cuts etc

Hello. I bought the cheapest ship to test the game, got the necessary resources from the market. I sent the ship to mining/scanning. But every move seemed to require more gas fees than necessary. The hydrogens I farmed are not worth as much as the gas fee I pay. Am I missing something or doing something wrong? Please don't judge just trying to understand the mechanics

so each time you transport or mine things, cargo token accounts get created for your fleet these usually get closed when you unload, but when you disband a fleet a message will pop up in the starbase that you have open cargo accounts when you press it you get the solana token/renting account fees back

Heyy welcome to the server! The full game will take a few years, but you already can fly every ship in the ue5 version

Star Atlas UE5 first private version is on the Epic Games Store and is currently on release 2.1. In this release, all ships are flyable, even in their clay model phase. Other features currently in-game include: timed race courses, flight combat training, multiplayer testing, and an experimental mode that lets players view levels and characters that are still in development.
For Star Atlas 2.2, the major feature update coming will be combat racing. Compete against 7 other racers in a racing death match to see who's really the best pilot in Galia. Coming alongside this major update is progression, new characters, increased customization and more!

It's a browser-based game, fully on the blockchain, centered around mining resources, space combat, crafting, and political domination. It is also in its initial phases, but will soon be updated with new features.

After starting in SCORE 2 years ago with my ledger, playing this way is not viable in SAGE, I have been trying but always unlocking the Ledger every time discourages me...
The ideal would be another Phantom wallet, that would be easy to do, but how do I transfer my ships and resources there?

yes ledger is the safest you can do, keep it as your main wallet, think of sage labs as a test, its also still separated from your main account

so just send what you need to play in there

Later on we probably get a permission system, so you can give permissions to other wallets, i hope that will make it easier for ledger users to play.

Hello guys i'm new to the channel and to the game i just bought 2 small fleet ( one Pierce x4 and one Opal jet) to better understand the economics behind staking the spaships and i've done some maths ; can you help me understand if that is normal for everyone? i spend 2.64 Star atlas a day to get 1.817 Atlas a day. Is normal that you actually lose money in the process or it just depends on my ships and the today consumable prices (they were lower?) ? thanks a lot

the issue is the 4 resources is an open market

all resources get extracted and produced by players

so you could even go negative in some cases

way to get resources yourself is by staking claim stakes or mining ships or produce them yourself in sage labs

Question:
When I start Sage, I can select "Ledger".
Currently I'm using my Ledger with Phantom, but I thought I maybe can save one click each time if Sage is able to use my ledger directly. My ledger uses the default derivation path (of Phantom) and uses the first wallet for this path. I think it uses m/44'/501'/0'/0' (bip44Change). This path is different from the default path of Ledger Live (LL uses m/44'/501'/0').
When I select "Ledger", Sage correctly finds my ledger, but after this there is no way a) to select the derivation path and b) to select the right wallet. And therefore Sage seems to not use the correct wallet, because it starts with "Start creating a character".
Btw, the Star Atlas game from the Epic Store correctly asks for the derivation path and I'm able to use my Ledger in the game.
What am I doing wrong in Sage?

Your not doing anything wrong. The default derivation path differs from one project to the next. What I would do is link your ledger and take note of the address and send ships there to the default ledger address. It’s of no consequence at the moment and will improve security

Also make sure to test with a few xxs ships before sending over your larger fleets

But bip44change is a standard path. Even Ledger Live uses it, but LL uses a bip44change derived address (therefore it uses m/44'/501'/0' instead of m/44'/501'/0'/0') .
So it seems Sage is using the path from Ledger Live.
I'm using my address for a long time and I don't want to change it just for Sage. And also it would affect my Zealy quests.
So in other words: I can't use my Ledger directly with Sage, until the devs let me choose the derivation path in Sage. Correct?

It’s less about the clicks and more about the third party liability and exposure to extension hacks. It comes down to the amount at risk and your standards of security.

The only attack vector I see currently: Phantom gets an official update which is compromised and this update sends a malicious transaction to my ledger without me noticing it, so I accept the transaction. But this could also happen in Sage - e.g. someone is able to store a malicious script on the Sage server and it sends the same malicious transaction directly to my ledger.
Wallet delegation / player profiles would completely prevent this attack vector, so I'm looking forward to it. Would let me sleep much better

People hack extensions. They do this on your local machine. They don’t have to be a developer of a project your using or the extension. If you are risking a large quantity of assets you need to check the extensions source before each session.

Currently you cannot lose your ship in Sage Labs. The worst thing that could happen is if you run out of fuel - in that case you can self-destruct for the cost of Atlas and the ship will respawn in base.

Most probably you have disbanded your fleet on some Starbase and your ship is in the Deposit/Withdraw ships of that base. You can also check the crafting menu - usually you disband when you want to craft something. If you have some pending crafting to claim - your ships is most likely in that Starbase. Otherwise you might need to check all the starbases of your faction if you don't remember where you have disbanded.

I think currently there is a visual bug when you bring less food than required to fill up the cargo. So when you initiate the mining - check the time it says it will take. Other than that - if the amount of recourses mined equals the free cargo space then you are good to stop mining. Other than that you can calculate beforehand using spreadsheets - there are the mining recourse rates for each ship in the ships stats spreadsheet. You will need to take into consideration the Richness and the Hardness of the resourse your are mining. Here is an example of a table I made for mining Hydrogen with Richness lvl 2. P.S. it is an old one, don't trust it too much:

@worldly barn that doesn't answer the question. i know how much food i need i just don't have enough, so mine until its gone but don't have any indication of when that is. it cost fuel to sop and start mining to see where you are at. there is no indicator to show that you have run out of food, mining never stops even though it is doing nothing the numbers still increase showing successful mining. the cargo bay still shows all the food yopu started with and doesnt reflect how much food is left and doesnt show how much mineral i s in the cargo bay, the carge slide bar at th etop right doesnt move until after you stop mining.

@peak matrixyea, sorry, i like the help but as before i am busy doing stuff and i have enough work to do, if i need 1200 food to mine something until cargo is full but i happen to have 460 food there is no way to know when that 460 of food has been used up and it okay to stop mining, i come in look at the status and click the clicks then go back out and do RL stuff. that is a nice spread sheet.

@peak matrix that bug seems to be what's happening, its not a minor bug though when you intentionally want to stop mining as you don't know when to stop, i had to stop and check 3 times to use up the food and that wastes resources, i know i could open excel type in all the numbers get an accurate time and then set an alarm clock to know when to stop mining, but it sure would be simpler if there was an indicator that mining had stopped, its even harder if you want to go to a far away place mine some stuff there and then move to someplace else and mine stuff there. now imagine you want to stop 3 times , doing a round trip with several stops in impossible.

I agree, it is a bummer if you plan to go mining and then return with the same fleet. I already have a mining fleet, crafting crew set up and then the supply/cargo fleet just brings food and ammo and takes back the production to CSS. Also I already calculated beforehand my fleets consumption and cargo so I don't need to do it again.

I know that the feature for auto-stop mining has already been requested but not sure if it will be implemented in this iteration - my guess is it will be probably ready for the next one that has the new mining features and the battles.

Here is a trick that might help you without the need of too much calculation:

1. Station your fleet at CSS and give it some ammo and food ( about 1% to 5% food, really depends on the fleet and your cargo hold )
2. Undock, go to Undocked fleets tab and check the Manage Fleet menu
3. There in "Mining Ops" it should say how much food you need to fill up the cargo.
4. Dock, take only the min food required that you "Mining Ops" reported and repeat the same process - depending on how close your were to the actual amount you will need to do a little correction. After all the exact calculation is based on the food you carry and you will need to adjust to get the exact amount.

Now that you know the min food required to fill up this exact fleet cargo with Hydrogen Richness 1 you can use it do to a simple calculation for other resourses and richness level.

For example:

1. If you want to go mine Hydrogen Richness 2 - you will need half that food amount.
2. If you want to go mine your faction Diamonds - they have hardness 400 ( hydrogen is hardness 100 ) so you will need around 4 times that amount of food.
3. If you mine Iron Ore richness 2 - it is Hardness 200 but also richness 2 so you will need exact same amount of food

Hope that helps you set up

Before you start mining, it should tell you how much food you need until your cargo hold is full. Use that metric and load your cargo bay with the right amount of food first. In addition, it should give you the estimated amount of ammo needed and the amount of time to full too. Once you have the right amount of ammo, food and fuel, click Initiate Mining and set a reminder to come back once it is full. It is fairly simple if you read what you need before clicking the Initiate Mining button.

If you are trying to min/max on mining you should load your fleet with the min required food to fill up your cargo. If you open the Mining Ops tab when you are undocked at CSS you will see an estimation on how much food and ammo it will cost you. If you want to make a more precise calculation you can follow the steps from my previous post here: #❓┃ask-a-question message

Further down the line when you are able to scale up you can make a supply-chain and use a fleet for mining and another one for supplying and loading of the cargo at CSS. But for starts - best thing is to start mining Hydrogen at CSS and figure the costs of food.

Also keep in mind that if you want to travel to another Space Station aside from CSS you will need to calculate your fuel for the trip back too.

the claiming process were different for them, like an ordinary airdrop, but later we changed that system where you need to claim these in the inventory, since scammers do airdrops all the time and people fall for it, so the new system ensures that you claim it in your star atlas inventory

if you import any solana wallet there you get access to whatever is in that wallet

for choosing a faction it only matters right now if you want join a specific guild otherwise its personal preference, on the rewards atm its the same for each faction, tho its said that smaller factions may get more rewards in the future to give reason to new players to join the smallest to keep everything balanced
