well if I'm gonna completely honest with you then you probably want bigger capital to buy more ships. I also started with few little ships just to try and explore but found out that need to put in more.
also the fees are big only in the start because you are opening token accounts which need rent fee but you get them back later

check some youtube videos and try to focus on SDU scanning

OMG I managed to refuel one fleet directly from the fleet itself...but the other one is not allowing it. When the error screen appears, it wont work. So I will just keep on retrying until the good window shows. Fak me!

Scrooge, right now is historically one of the worst moments for Solana, ever. Fees are way higher than they should be, and things are working like crap. Sorry for your bad experience. I'm sure it will improve over the next few months.
Worth mentioning, one single bike won't get you good returns. But hey, it's like any investment. You won't make $1/day with 1 bike. But you might, with a fleet of 10 bikes.
Another important point: things will change considerably in about 1-3 weeks, with Starbased starting.

the token acounts get shuffled around, the account itself should close when you unload at the starbase (after the starbase already has the item that is as the first time you unload the starbase opens its token account) then gets reopened when you mine again creating a net 0 set of transactions where at that point your only actually paying the transaction fee

note those fees right now are a bit on the high side due to solana being overloaded, however when starbased is out the price of stuff should start to go up and help mitigate those fees

also the sol devs are working on an actual fix to the problem (note this is part of why score is being maintained a little longer as well as why there is the 2 week period where labs is staying on)

Long answer short, your pc seems old and swapping GPU doesent always make your pc better in general 😅 GPU and CPU is nesesary upgrades, but likley because of cpu sockets, you need a motherboard too xD
