damn though I really don't know, my last run where I mained an official weapon I just ended up using one of the unique furious handmades for half of it, if mods are allowed probably the wattz lasers (the 3k at least, I haven't played with the 1k yet)

the plasma defender/glock 86 from revenge of the van graffs looks nifty too (basically I like energy pistols in theory)

(in practice the laser pistol was useless for a long time because of a defense calculation bug that lasted so long it was only fixed when 76 patched it, the plasma pistol is way too blocky from having to also be the rear end of the rifle and its dual damage thing makes it way underpowered however crit kills with it also mean free nuclear material, the alien blaster loses its only good thing when you shift to ammo that's not hard capped so it always comes down to mods)

A’ight… since I’m still learning the lore can someone answer something for me? So the timeline splits after WWII, but like the bombs don’t drop for like another 130 years. Like - did we as a civilization just STOP making music? Because all the music we hear from the BGS Fallout games is music from the 1940’s, 50’s, and 60’s or before al la Classical (Baroque). Does someone have a canonical answer to this?

i don't know what it is about him but could listen to him explain things for hours. One of the only people on youtube that talks to you completely honestly and is just so dang grounded. It's a bit rare for a dev of that stature to open their lives up to the internet like that via youtube channel.

gonna take a stab here at a guess and say maybe it has to do with resource wars. we already see vacuum tubes and non-silicone/semiconductor type electronics more commonly versus the more advanced computers etc in the series. Maybe the military/government hoarded this tech and that left the music industry in an age where it wasn't accelerated by streaming and digitial platforms, since the "high-grade" computer equipment simply wouldn't be affordable/an option for record labels etc. Rap and more explorative genres also often have subtexts of anti-government messaging or "fight the system" style messages that the gov would probably want to censor.

in all honesty, I don't know you at all, so i can't really know what's the best game for you to start with here. All i can say is that fallout 76 is likely the largest deviation from the "standard fallout formula" since the series conception, and even saying that is probably pushing the bounds of people's personal opinions and experiences.

After the occupation and eventual, annexation of canada by the american government the Canadians, like every people, under the rule of an occupying force had those who weren't happy about it.
But with many of those who outwardly resisted being executed, many decided to take the more obscure route forming the canadian resistance.
These people would work behind the scenes. Doing what they could to sabotage the american military, as well as even going as far as gaining intelligence from the american military with the help of china for their war effort.
Through this intelligence gathering people in the canadian resistance found out about small aspects of vault tecs plans for their vault but wanting to remain as secretive as possible, and with all of these vaults for social experiments being in the united states, there was little any of them could or wanted to do about.
What they did find that they could do something about however was a second set of vaults. Unlike the ones in the United States, these ones built-in Canada in 2 large groups. One in southern ontario and the other currently still partially under construction in the vancouver area of british columbia was made specifically for the American military. These vault areas would house interconnecting vaults connected via underground railroad network and were made to store and house large numbers of military personnel to allow them to survive. The nuclear fallout and rise up again to claim what was left.

The original intent was to start an uprising seizing the large shipments of military supplies inside these vaults, to both attempt to break america's hold over canada as well as sabotage their war effort to give the chinese a better chance at seizing alaska.
It was both a blessing and a curse. However, that the time planned for these vaults to be attack ended up arriving on the same day. The bombs fell.The canadians seized the vaults early in the morning, and by the time they heard the bombs were coming changed.Their plans and did everything they could to get as many people inside these vaults as possible.
Largely, they succeeded with much of many cities with vault's populations getting underground before the bombs hit and despite things, initially being chaotic, those in charge managed to get things under control. And after careful organization managed to get the large vaults, it's a habitable zones.

One problem, however, did arise, the vaults. Despite being meant to house, a large number of military personnel for at least a few centuries was not equipped to handle multiple cities worth of people. The supply is rationed even to the bare minimum would only last the inhabitants, about 50 years. And so it was planned early on for expeditions. To be sent out to try in recover what they could to try and fix the outside world.So that the people inside could keep themselves alive.

Through both this careful, planning and the mutual goal of survival. The people in these vaults were able to work together and slowly. But surely, over the 250 years since the bomb dropped reorganized themselves both inside the vaults and in small sectors surrounding them
The underground railways may travel between each of the vaults easy and with little need for surface travel though some expeditions did so out of need for a secondary route.If the trains ever stopped working.

And it was decided for ease of logistics and self-protection. The outside area surrounding the entrance to each vault would be used for different purposes. Rather than a little in each area, this made things much more streamlined and allowed the inhabitants of the vaults to be able to reorganize themselves into jobs.
Both giving better quality of life and more supplies to the faction.As a whole.
Things would go mostly peacefully in the areas around the vaults, with the Canadians. Under the sole idea of simply reclaiming their country, not caring what happened beyond the great lakes, as they prepared themselves to solely expand back across their original borders, there are only opposition local radar tribes and wildlife which were either dealt with or assimilated.
And things with solely remain the same...
Until the enclave came.
As the enclave claimed to be the remnants of the original United States, they saw the military supplies. The Canadians had vast quantity of as rightfully theirs. This was especially important to them as a few machines Inside the vaults had their rare quality of being able to recharge fusion core even if only being able to be done in small quantities this and everything else they had was considered crucial by the enclave to reclaim the rest of the united states, which, in their eyes included canada.
The Canadians under the ideology of them keeping their borders intact outright refused nice angered the enclave, which formerly went to war with the federation. While the enclave had the superior technology, the Canadians 250 years worth of experience of slowly expanding their borde

This along with their professional ability for defensive fortified and trench warfare Evened the odds changing this into a grueling slug match with no clear winner

I will say, The Enclave isn’t “claiming” to be the United States. They actually are The United States. The President and Vice President were members and leaders of The Enclave Pre-War.

Well I'm mostly saying it from the Canadians perspective. As far as i'm aware they wouldn't know any of that beforehand and so any faction weather, knowing it beforehand or claiming to be the united states would automatically be someone they would not want to associate with

And even though I doubt anything I come up with will ever become canon. It's a fun pastime, even came up with a bunch of weapon and power armor modifications, specifically for the setting

I simply don’t think it’d be likely that’s all haha. The Enclave wouldn’t “stalemate” with a group of Canadian militia. In the real world sense any militia would’ve been absolutely crushed by The Enclave.

Like the minuteman, it's a group of possibly, tens of thousands of people spread across the entirety of southern Ontario, from areas like Niagara Falls all the way up to Toronto. With many of the big cities in between being the centerplaces for the vaults

Still - the vast majority of them would have died regardless. Radiation exposure of the years, raiders, and one vault isn’t gonna hold that many people. Not even a collection of vaults would. And then you have the starvation issue. No vault was ever built to house tens of thousands of people. Plus, the Enclave would have simply surrounded the entrances and starved them out, they wouldn’t have gone into the vaults.

Well unfortunately, I haven't watched much of the show. I wanted to do a refresher with fallout, Lord videos and then binge-watch the entire series when I had a chance. But I did see parts of the last episode last night when I was at a friend's house. So I get what you mean. I actually had a bit of a plan for something similar to that. Basically a game in this setting would start out as you with a group trying to find some form of Safe Haven. That you had heard about only to be caught in the middle of a fight between the Canadians and the enclave. It would later become similar to a new Vegas situation where you would get to choose which faction to fight with. But instead of helping the enclave to wipe out the Canadians, it would be starting a Civil War. In the enclave.
To topple the government with their current ideologies, and basically turned them back to the original idea of starting the u s again, without massacring everything that isn't a pure, human

Well, I've been thinking about this for a while. It's the kind of stuff I come up with. When I'm bored I basically had the idea of Frank being like a final boss
Maybe a clone of him that was created specifically for this purpose. It would be a tough fight. And you could either opt to take him in a one on one or face him on the battlefield, with the help of the canadian army and the enclave resistance

I even had ideas of including the other fallout factions, but given the location, I wasn't exactly sure her. If it was a good idea for it to be a big stretch

But it's not something I wouldn't a 100% say no to even came up with weapon and power armor modifications for this specific scenario. Like the phalanx, for instance, modification for mini guns that essentially adds a shield that covers your body. Gives you plenty of protection. Similar to a power armor chest piece. But has the downside of drastically increasing the weight of the minigun and a liquid nitrogen flamethrower power armor modification that can freeze your enemies in close quarters.Combat.

So messaged in here about it awhile back, but I preordered the ncr ranger challenge coin on the bethesda gear store back in november. It said it would ship in january, and here it is, 2 days until february, and I still havent recieved my preorder. I just checked the gear store site, and now it says itll be ready to ship in JUNE. Why is it taking so damn long for a literal coin? Ive been waiting 3 months as is.

Its crazy, I see these creators and other videos on youtube where people are reviewing new products from the gear store. Theres been videos ive seen of the ncr helmet, sequoia shadow box, and a bunch of other things. How are these people getting their preorders after a month, and its taken me 3, and I still havent got it? Oh yeah, and to mention again that the site updated the shipping date to june? I just got fallout 4 and im having these wierd issues where all audio is like 100x louder than normal and everything randomly starts moving at 2x speed is there a way to fix these?

that sounds crazy man. Do you have some mods installed? #1087805680829857822 or #fallout-4-chat might know more, but i've personally not experienced that issue myself before. I'd check the sound settings in game first, there should be sliders for each "type" of audio (radio, voices, etc)

It has good and bad writing but also I think 4 does a better job of introducing things you're not supposed to take at face value (unlike 3), plus it doesn't have the horrendous low that was the ending sequence of 3's vanilla main quest

Shaun's importance is broadly overstated, the expansions are actually neat in difference ways and I think strike the kind of balance you got from OWB and Dead Money in NV, it's at worst a middling rpg writing wise, it just has some really baffling decisions thrown in like the pipe guns

The minutemen is literally just Preston at the start of the game and Preston is basically about to give up on life entirely, in Fallout 3 the railroad was focused on freeing synths

the 10mm actually works, the only issue with the .44 is that it's missing a visible firing pin on the design, mirroring aside the combat shotty, smg and hunting rifle just work, the assault rifle is just a lewis gun poorly crowbarred into being an assault rifle; my actual serious issue with 4's gun designs is the Combat Rifle being a terrible kitbash and not being 5.56mm by default as it says on the mags

fallout fixt might be worth installing (iirc it fixes a quest or two and also adds some interface improvements that were added in 2)

I'm not sure on stimpacks if they use them or not. My take on everything is that they just enjoy seeing the passion in the community when they hint at what they know people want because it provides motivation for them to work even harder seeing everyone be excited, while not giving away enough information so that they can replicate the success of the Oblivion shadowdrop in the future if they do make those projects, but maybe without leaks or insiders giving information about it so everyone can have a huge wow moment. As for loreout, it's made by the same person as WR with help from the LoreRim creator if I recall but I believe it's a more "hardcore" experience because of the immersion. I haven't played it myself, but if you've experienced Lorerim, I'd say it's probably the Fallout equivalent so.. probably pretty good once you're deep into it?

No, charisma is a dumb stat, barter and speech are skills that can just be boosted at level up, the points you take away from both stats by taking charisma down to 1 only takes away 8 points from both skills at the start, easily rectified then you can put the special stat in endurance for more implants or strength for more carry weight, or luck for crit builds and gambling

Charisma is useless in New Vegas unlike 3, 3 actually made charisma important

Since it adds to your persuasion chance so you cant just have charisma 1 100 speech and expect to pass everything

I feel like the Mojave chapter of the BOS would have had a better fate if they had the same mentality as Elder Lyons’s. Maybe even sided with the NCR against the Legion. Brotherhood scribes could have done a better job running Helios One at full capacity and a treaty between both factions would have been beneficial on both sides.
