Yeah it’s never something that prevents you from finishing the game as an energy weapons specialist or anything it’s just highly inconvenient. Relatively speaking. It’s like the energy weapons shop. Farming enemies is less ideal even if it’s trivial.

I've personally rarely ever used that place for energy gun ammo even when i don't do that quest.

BoS sells energy weapon ammo, you can even get a regular supply of it for free if you do the BoS questline and it's incredibly plentiful in big MT

Also fiend hunting is a good source of energy weapon ammo, plus you get the satisfaction of killing fiends. One dead fiend means a happier westside.

If you are on PC, and on Windiws 10 or 11, try trying all of the suggestions on the following website: https://appuals.com/make-fallout-3-work-windows-10/ The suggested fix number 4 is likely the most important, but do them all. Also, if the suggested compatibility mode does not work for you, try compatibility mode Windows 8. If none of the suggestions work, try asking Bethesda Help. Fallout NV does have a problem running well on latest high level PCs. That's likely owing to the game being Direct X 9, which newer high lever PC seem to have problems with, at least some of them do.

Tried them, fix #4 fixed it initially but then it crashed again and went back to the infinite loading screen. Run as admin and compatibility mode made the launcher loop infinitely when trying to press play

For fix #4, make sure you set the 2 additions to the .ini file to =1, in case you didn't. Also in the suggested Compatibility settings, set it to Windows 8, in case you didn't. If these ideas don't help, try running the game in Borderless Widowed mode. You may have to set your Resolution in the .ini file, if the resolution in-game setting doesn't hold for Windowed mode. Running as Administrator is correct. Don't give up yet. If the game works fairly well, you may still get some occasional lock ups, etc., but if you can tolerate those, just live with it. The infinite loading screen is a common issue. Just put up with it and try reloading until it works. It's not that big of a deal. Sometime loading a prior save, to the one you're trying to load, will load. After that, load the one you want. I do it from time-to-time.

What "Didn’t work unfortunately?" If it's the infinite reloading screen, yeah that can be a problem? That was a problem even years ago when the game first came out. Try loading a save that loads, after which you may be able to load the save that didn't load. You load it from the save that loaded. That is, when the game is up and running, try loading the save that you originally wanted to load, from the one that is running. I have the game working from a hi-powered PC with a hi-level graphics card, though I have to contend with an occasional lockup, etc., but it's playable.

I got my Fallout NV working satisfactorily, so I hope you can get yours to that point, too. I've been playing it since it came out years ago. It's less hang out and more go to a specific location with him, iirc there was some dumb mechanic where it has to be your first time going to the location for the dialogue to trigger so you could just accidentally miss out on companion stories

Hello i'm new here but I ran into a problem. Long ago I bought fallout new Vegas maybe 5 years back or more. I played it and took a break. Now after I downloaded it I can't play it. It shows me a screen that it is configuring my resolution but when I press play, it closes and reopens the startup screen. after a couple tries it just closes it self without opening the game. Then in search of why is this happening I pressed "store page" and it showed that the game is not available in my region. Yet I have played it before and in total have ~67h on the game. Then I find that I have to buy the game again but now its a "(PCR)" version. My account's region is set to Lithuania. So did I just get my game pulled from me? Or what is happening and what can I do? (instead of buying a new copy of the game I already have). P.S. My friend has the same problem.

Did you upgrade OS's from the last play? Win 10/11 have new rules in place for regional restrictions on SW. The PCR is a Russian specific version, likely due to region control for software regulations. Try setting to an EU region.

Am I the only one who could see a car or taxi power armor design being a thing? I don't mean some racing checkers or yellow paintjob. No. I mean actually power armor built from chunks of cars found across the wasteland. I can easily see the Corvega Atomic-V8 headlights on the shoulders. Perhaps parts from the Zip as limbs and the glass top of a fusion flea for the helmet. Or at least do it like the roll cage of the raider power armor. I feel this could be one heck of a design. Especially if done right.

Ok but the MM aren't meant to be police forces, they're meant to be mutual aid and defense forces that work independent of the settlements but still aids them.

If they were a police force they would become a force that is exerting control and forcing settlements to do what they say which goes against their founding ethos

But wasnt their government and military full of corruption being one of the main reasons they failed. BoS feel like they would be likely to take any corruption from anyone even the government.

I think given the NCR can expand and fight on an entirely new front shows the NCR doing better. Like the entire presence in the Mojave is building infrastructure, setting up bases and actively keeping another nation from expanding says otherwise. There's also nothing really supporting the idea of a stalemate. Brotherhood are in hiding meanwhile we have NCR leadership that successfully fought multiple tours against the brotherhood

If there's something in New Vegas saying there's a stalemate it's not on the fallout wiki page, what is on the page is the NCR winning numerous battles to the point the brotherhood had to self destruct several bunkers

As well as Sawyer saying so many veterans died in the war the brotherhood had to start putting inexperienced recruits into leadership positions which the NCR doesn't have to do

And yes this is the Mojave chapter but consider the Mojave chapter wasn't involved in the war until the NCR entered the mojave, so I doubt it's better in the west

NV's ending directly states hostilities are still going on back west.

"The Brotherhood and the NCR in the Mojave Wasteland declared an official truce, despite continued hostilities between the two in the west."

And the NCR itself took heavy losses fighting the war. Their entire economy was hit the ramifications of which are still being felt in NV

Their blind expansion caused way more problems.
The whole reason they can't just take over Vegas is because they'll lose to an offensive launched by the Legion.

We don't have as much info on the exact state of the war back west but it continues after NV as per the ending slide

You should read what Boone actually says instead of the "stretched thin" misquotation the community has pushed for a decade, Boone says the NCR expanded too quickly leaving a lot of infrastructure new California sees that deals with threats not being built in the Mojave

As pointed out this is because they didn't create the infrastructure they usually have in New California, you are pushing something the game isn't saying

The legion is also a massive fighting force, saying the first battle is showing "they're stretched thin" is like saying the allied nations were stretched thin in WW2, they weren't, the legion is just a rival that saw even worse casualties in the battle for Hoover dam

The game directly says they had supply and reinforcement issues because of the divide incident irrespective of infrastructures, I'm not pushing anything.

The Legion also isn't as massive a force as the NCR. The Legate says just the mojave campaign alone pooled too much of their resources meanwhile the NCR's Mojave force was in a weakened state.
They have more people back west.

But the issue still remains that we have very little info on the state of things back west to really conclude much

We have enough that the BoS and NCR are only in a stalemate because the BoS is in hiding and fight guerrilla wars which is the point of the Mojave chapter. The idea that there is active fighting like there is in the NCR-Legion war isn't shown, meanwhile we have NCR leadership like Cassandra Moore having served four successful tours against the brotherhood, the brotherhood losing entire bunkers, the NCR having an entire division of troops that wears salvaged power armor. The implication is shown numerous times, the BoS are losing. If anything they claim the NCR is purposefully ignoring them because their main priority now is the legion.

Sawyer's claim about the soldiers being in experienced was specifically in reference to the Mojave chapter and there is no indication this is what every chapter looks like.

Even House in game says that platoons of NCR soldiers have died trying to destroy BoS bunkers when the Courier successfully kills them.

The NCR may have salvaged power armor but at the same time their economy is actively falling apart with no proper alternative which is further hurting their operations.

I know Todd did say about not being able to recreate Fallouts 1 and 2 using the usual Creation Engine, but what if it could be remade using the BG3 engine or the similar method and gameplay mechanics of it?

The only way to preserve them in a hypothetical remake would be to not change anything at all but that'd just be a waste.

the wasteland remake really sucked, you can't mesh really old top down RPG games into a new fancy art style and have it look good and charming still

That's the problem. The only way a remake would work is if it doesn't change anything but at that point why not just play the original.

I think there's value in remakes. For a lot of people (me included), 4 was their first Fallout game and the tones of that are significantly different from NV and earlier. A lot of newer fans haven't really experienced the classic wasteland vibes and aren't interested in played the older titles due to outdated gameplay or graphics

I for one would welcome a 1 & 2 remake with things like updated sprites, bugfixes, and mod support. As long as they keep 99% of gameplay and story faithful to the originals.

I'm really enjoying exploring the Ohio expansion in 76 because they modeled the map after the desolate wasteland feeling of 3 & NV

Remakes are overrated. At this point, remakes of the classic Fallout trilogy are unnecessary. If you want to play the classic games, play them as they were released, not versions with better graphics.

"Gameplay related" is where we run into issues. A lot of players are going to view gameplay changes as violating the spirit of the games. Graphics are one thing, but gameplay is a large part of what makes those games unique.

Baldur’s gate 3 is extremely playable on controller. Which is amazing considering the amount of choices and micromanagement you can do in that game (especially if you play Wizard)

I think I would accept a fallout 3 remaster. I'm afraid that if bethesda remakes an old game they would further remove what I love about fallout.

My opinion on bethesda as of late is very low. 76 and Starfield does not help. And I dislike the quality control they held in thier products. I also think the mod store is a slipery slope that is better kept free and open. Similar to steam or how nexus was.

I'm patiently waiting for any news on a Fallout 3 remake. It's one of my favorite games, and it 100% deserves the Oblivion Remastered treatment.

As someone else said, the new expansion coming to 76 has heavy FO3 vibes, and I'm loving it.

Saw this at Target the other day, it looks so weird as a Nuka-Cola machine but without Nuka-Cola and just the Fallout logo on it. Reminds me of the menu at Halloween Horror Nights, where none of the drinks at the Fallout booth say "Nuka" only Dark and Quantum.
Just kind of weird, maybe has something to do with Jones Cola or something?

I'd be honestly for playing fallout 1 2 and tactics in the style of fallout 3 or new vegas.

The problem is, do I trust bethesda no to censor, remove, make tame, or replace entirely the legends and canonicity of these games, to make retcons, or shove a paid mod store in there? The answer is absolutely not.

I trust them to make a hook for a new questline content and then pay wall more content behind it like in starfield for bounties.

No I'm far more excited for that doom mod project that recreates fallout game in that fps engine.

Ah okay, the oblivian remaster is relatively new experience for me.

but yeah, and this is a time were players trust remakes and remasters over new ips. Not because there is never new interesting additions, like expedition 33 and baulders gate 3 for examples for rpgs. A new ip and sequal respectively. Seeing others and myself in agreement that bethesda is not trusted even though they hold the rights for the ip is telling

I can understand why they shift to a monitize mod model. Even though I don't agree with it at all.
