If you side with another faction you will absolutely have to kill Danse and lose him forever. If you’re referring to the quest where maxson orders you to kill Danse, with some charisma you can convince maxson to set danse free and he will but throughout the rest of your game bos will constantly try to kill danse. Danse always wins and bos wont attack you personally just Danse

Yes, you can stay in the brotherhood of steel and continue to rank up and do quests for them you just cant use danse as a companion during the quests or bring him into the boston airport

Usually after you convince maxson not to kill danse he’ll fly away and you can keep using danse as a companion but everywhere you go outdoors the brotherhood of steel will randomly fly in and start attacking him, since you chose to save danse as a companion he cant die to bos so he usually kills them by himself in a few minutes after getting downed a few times

There could possibly be a way to complete blind betrayal before blowing up the institute or completing the fight for bunker hill but ive always been too lazy to search it up and figure it out, I always just fully side with bos as default because I think theyre more fun than the railroad or the institute plus you also get plans early in the game to put a jetpack on your power armor

Should I get all companions to full affinity like deacon before I kill them with the bos?

It depends on what style of playthrough youre doing, Deacon gives you the cloak and dagger perk which gives you more sneak attack damage and makes stealth boys last longer

Youll have to decide whether or not his perk is worth all the trouble

Its good to do a little bit of the railroad quests anyway to get the deliverer pistol

Get Curie's, iirc it gives you a 2nd chance, it will save you from a lethal damage once every day, or maybe Auto stim when low HP

Skyrim’s mod space got increased with the Special Edition. Bethesda said that they were trying to increase the size for 4 but that they were having difficulty doing so, I can’t remember the specific reasons.

Fallout 4 is awesome on PC, mainly due to mods. The console patches coming on the 25th are mainly to get the consoles up to code, though some content is coming for PC.

I'd recommend two paths for Fallout 4 modding. One is Sim Settlements 2, if you like base building. Adds story and reason to build your bases. You can safely leave Preston and his group behind, and you'll be nudged toward saving them (since it's the Right Thing To Do) but it's not a requirement. You'll build with this other guy, and eventually get better friends than Preston has (no one like Marcy for example). Eventually you become a real faction, get targeted by another (minor) faction, and steal their main HQ and make it your own. And that's only the first two chapters. The third and final part came out recently. The other is Project Valkyrie and related mods. They are adult mods, but aside from that, they actually do a ton of good for the game. You'll be reunited with a fan favorite character from Fallout 3, and you can force the Fallout 4 factions to work together. And you can turn the Institute into a strip club... but you can also not do that. It's a great series of mods held back by some juvenile writing. The mod authors also have a solid bounty hunter mod that works well with their other mods... and IIRC they have another mod where you can be straight up evil, if you want to roll that way.

No, that's probably a mod that let you recharge fusion cores. That was never a feature in the game.

Think about it logically. What can you actually use Fusion Cores with? Power armor. Some weapons. You can use 3 to get into Vault 81. Have you ever seen anything you could plug them into? I feel like yes, there was one story element where you plugged a Fusion Core into something, but I can't swear to it, or recall what.

But no, there was never a feature in the game or its DLC to recharge Fusion Cores. Once they were spent, your character discarded them. You could have a Fusion Core at 1%, but once it was empty, it was automatically discarded like spent ammunition casings.

Was Fallout 4 ever gonna be on Switch? Because I'd love to see it come to macOS/Apple Silicon, which is the newest and best ARM platform (which Switch also belongs to). There's a solid argument about porting Skyrim to macOS (since it's on Switch and Nintendo doesn't have an exclusive license (since it's also on PC/other consoles), it's already on ARM) but I'm not sure the same could be said for Fallout 4. And while Starfield is "exclusive to platforms with GamePass" (i.e. PC/Xbox, and not macOS because Apple are stupid about game streaming services), Fallout 4 is not as it is on, and is still supported for PlayStation.

Probably a better question for the engineers at Bethesda (I feel like they would have at least tried it), but I would love to see how Fallout 4 runs on modern Macintosh hardware.

Yeah, I've literally never heard of that. Not saying it's not true... but it's completely undocumented in the game and not mentioned anywhere, unless it was added in a QoL patch since I stopped playing a few years ago.

Charging via Power Armor stations makes sense, except they're not powered, but whatever. But reactors? I've taken Fusion Cores out of them, never seen the ability to plug Fusion Cores back in. I was under the impression the Fusion Core powered the reactor.

I think it's referring to the reactors in the large nuclear faculties there is couple of them one in the Glowing Sea. But the fusion cores we normally find are in the fusion generators. But I've never used PA much.

I store fusion cores inside power armor workbench, it doesn't charge them, I have multiple with varying percentages... For months in game time...
You can't insert fusion cores in power generator (reactor) you can only remove them...
Selling a fusion core to a vendor then buying one from them after a certain amount of time doesn't mean it was recharged... It means the vendors stock respawned...

Obviously someone that has never actually experienced the game themselves.

So I'm stuck in Kellog's memory. I got to to the room where the TV and comics were. However it will display the UI for interacting with X or Y or Z memory access however it won't trigger anything. I have run all the way back to the starting room and interacted with everything in each room...nothing of which triggers anything at all

My best bet is that they either got 4 and 76 confused, or they were referencing a mod. I have nearly 5k hours into F4 w/o mods, and I can guarantee you there is no legitimate way to recharge Fusion Cores. If you're hurting for Fusion Cores, your best bet is to: 1. Get your Intelligence to 9 and invest in Nuclear Physicist. & 2. Get your Luck to 2 and invest in Scrounger. Fusion Cores do count as ammo, so investing in Scrounger will add Fusion Cores to the random ammo loot pool (i.e. in ammo containers, etc.) in the world.

I mean, I think it's exciting because FPS boost currently means that Fallout 4 will only be at 1080p. It sounds like this is going to at least get upped "once" aka to 1440p at 60fps. So things should look decently more crisp at 60fps

That's fair lol depending how they do performance vs quality mode, you might want to do quality. A lot of games perform better in quality because performance usually has a "variable" fps. So you see drops, but quality usually has a fixed, so it might be lower, but it's usually more stable.

I bought the GOTY version of fallout 4 and I can't even log in to it! I have an 8 GB Radeon RX580, when I first logged into the Fallout launcher (I have the official version for Steam), I was given an error - it is impossible to determine my video card, and the graphics settings were set to a minimum. When I click "play" in the launcher, a black screen opens for a second and the game crashes. I have the latest versions of DirectX and graphics card drivers. I read a lot of information on the Internet that you can change the resolution of the game window in the settings or change the ".ini" file with the settings - all this does not help me. I tried to install old versions of drivers - it's pointless. If it's important, I have two monitors, both in the same resolution. Funnily enough, the game worked great a year ago, but apparently the new updates just KILLED it

I'm on YouTube, and the Fallout London guy is talking about the upcoming update, like he was blindsided by it. He's not blaming Bethesda per se, but at the same time, that seems to be the point. Like "we were gonna release but this update is coming out, we wish there was some communication from the big corporation" kind of thing. But PC players don't (need to) care about the update. They can defer it. I don't think the mod will really hurt Fallout London, it's more the script extender, right? I'd like to play it, but between my Mac and my Xbox, I don't know if I'll be able to.
And he kind of has a point, maybe there should be a part of Bethesda that works with modders more closely, since Bethesda games do rely more heavily on mods than games from other developers. I thought the update was already out, but it won't be until April 25th... yes, I understand mods, I used to play with 60+ mods. The program did not produce any other failures, except for an error with an unreco
gnized video card (the error came out during the first launch and I did not see it again, but f4 still does not understand what kind of video card I have). I checked the integrity of the game, steam wrote about one incorrect file (most likely it is a '.ini' file with settings). Steam then replaced the corrupted file, but my problem remained.

Nuka world focus’s more on one objective though as far harbor has a lot more to offer

Theres also new weapons in both, and far harbor has new enemy factions similar to raiders

Unofficially... I'm not sure how Bethesda feels about this, but the Creation Club stuff is just files. If you own Fallout 4 on both Steam and GOG, and have both installed, you can find the Creation Club content in the Fallout 4 directory under Steam, and just move it over to the GOG folder, in the same location. I do not think the Fallout 4 game requires Creation Club support to use its content. It's just mods that you pay for, but if you have access to the files, you can just place them.

Best depends on your needs and if your playing survival. But generally, I'd say hangman ally, with nearby farm connected, like gray garden and oberland.

And I wouldn't use the pre walled settlement mod, it breaks pre combines.
It caused problems for me, even when only using individual pre walled settlement mods, the aio causes the most problems.

There's still a cross generation period going on, yes, though it is slowly fading away.

The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One line of consoles are firmly last generation consoles though.

Consider that actual next gen consoles are beginning to be discussed, with speculated release years of 2028 (Microsoft is rumoured for 2026, though I don't see that as being likely).

The Instiute's arrogance actually WAS the cause for major part of the Commonwealth's problems. Supermutant gangs. Institute's creation. Made for no reason other than "just because". Yet they are impervous to radiation and posions, biologically immortal.

Of course it makes sense.. The synths are an existensial threat to humanity in their eyes. The ends justify the means.. yes, they desire tech.. but first and foremost they want the synths and any trace of them completely obliterated so that dangerous tech can not be replicated.

Imo nuking that place makes perfect sense for BoS. Elder Maxson is pretty adamant in why the BoS are in the commonwealth, and that is to destroy the synths and the institute.
