No one wants true to life, 1:1 realism as that is typically very tedious. And anyway, you're playing it with a controller, so it's hardly immersive. But, people like to play the game with a realistic interpretation in mind, not everyone enjoys certain play-styles like tricklining, and there is a massive difference with skateboarding in real life, and doing it in a game

Like for example, people love The Sims, and you can play realistically and get a job, etc. etc. OR you can light the house on fire and become the grim reaper lol like what

I honestly just want them to create a game that caters to both audiences, Skate 3 kindaaaa had it down you could either do realistic tricks like a kickflip tailslide 270 out or do a 720 christ air backflip, however the animations and physics were kinda meh im hoping they fine tune it to where regardless of style it at least looks good. 🤔

The beauty of Skate I think is that you can play both realistically and unrealistically. Somehow, the game does both super well. Skate is rooted in this weighted, realistic feel of skateboarding but when you want to do a double back flip 900 over the entire Mega Park you can haha

You shouldn’t have to. A hard reboot MAY also help. (Next time. But down stop it now).
While the console is on, hold power button on console for 20 seconds. It will shut all the way down. Wait 30 seconds, then power it back on.
Sorry it’s giving you issues. When it happened to me, I legit thought my old cloud save from 360 was corrupted. Was super annoyed.

I really hope the features like low pop and switch stance makes a comeback. In case you didn’t know how the hardcore realistic skaters would make clips and have smooth transitions into grinds. We would say put the stick halfway down to achieve a desire height when popping an ollie or trick. Then you flick up at a certain speed (gotta have a feel for it kind of thing) Switch stance is the same kind of idea but when you land in switch and hold down the stick when you land, it makes the switch tricks look so much better when you execute them. Ungrindables, wallies, pole jams were also a big part of the hardcore realistic skate community. All of those things made it a fun challenge. Like it was beyond knowing how to flick every trick and get on a rail. Miss those times shout out to the skate reel group on xbox, spifder was a g keeping that scene alive and demonstrating skill to pull off those maneuvers

Skater XL recently added online for consoles, it's only free skate if I recall, haven't played Session and don't know if it has online, but I heard it has a great replay editor if you're into making those look as realistic as possible, both Session and Skater XL are more simulator games I'd say, compared to Skate at least

it was necessary tho.
Skate 1 and 2 had much more detailed maps and textures than Skate 3, a less refined system of streaming assets and the LODs were not as optimized.
So the meshes in the distance were really low poly and that had to be masked with some post processing.

If you force the game to always stream high detailed assets and remove the post processing, skate 2 looks way better than any other game in the series.
It's awesome.

Yeah the map was designed with not being able to get off your board in mind

It's an accessibility tool at the end of the day

Definitely made the game a bit more grounded, off board has always led to exploits and glitches

bc the normal npc’s didn’t have rag doll physics but the skaters did and the physics were really stiff compared to like skate 1 and skate 2

i liked the first two because if you bailed you’d just kinda flop around

It's just a casual way to play. I couldn't imagine them sitting on a certain trick until perfection for a recording, it's one of the most rewarding parts about skate.

session: 7.5/10
pros: rewarding once you master the controls, multiple difficulties, graphics
cons: not a lot of maps, very hard to master, even on easier difficulties
skater xl: 9/10
pros: easy to learn, satisfying to get down, mods are easy to find
cons: not enough maps lol
