what i expect is an early access game to push fixes out as needed, not on a weekly bases. specifically for a game that already has a purchasable pass.
again, my problem isnt that the game is in early access, or that there is bugs. Its that they know its buggy, they still charge for things, when many players cant even do the challenges without constant restarts.
our solution to that is waiting another week for weekly patches, to see if we were lucky enough for our bug to be fixed. half the time they say its been patched, and yet its not.
we arent talking about an indie company here, this is EA. if a MAJOR bug is still in the game months after release, something is wrong.

But the things they charge for are meaningless cosmetics like a gold skeleton outfit, if you want that it’s your choice it’s not like that’s a core gameplay feature locked behind a paywall. If you aren’t happy with the game don’t buy anything

it's a multi-platform game, they're not able to push patches daily. PSN and Xbox patches have at least a 3 day verification system which automatically puts the release 6 days behind workflow

I mean I don’t disagree, but the problem you’re forgetting is that because the game is multiplatform, Sony has a 2-5 day turnaround at least on approving patches as they test and verify what goes out on PlayStation.

season 0 was stable as hell for me, i had 0 issues wit hit, now finishing missions causes the game to break down, players disappear and lag, the other day i got 0 rewards because logged in at a community park, and thats just some "new" bug

and again, multiplatform doesnt mean you cant have community testing, it may be limited on consoles, but pc players are likely to test a lot, and while these tests may not help console players, its still better than nothing

all i'm saying is exercise a little patience and empathy for your fellow working-class people i.e. the devs. i'm pretty computer savvy and can fix most of the issues i come across with a few basic troubleshooting steps. it sucks that not everyone can or is willing to do that, but it's just the way of the game right now.
not trying to be dismissive at all i promise, but if you don't like the current state of the game then stop playing. check it out in a few months when more updates release and the game is more stable. no sense getting so worked up about it 🙏

I would imagine part of the issue with community testing on pc for this game in particular is that it’s not just cross platform it’s also the fact that it’s all online.

They’d have to invest more in releasing servers specific for certain public available test versions. And then presumably dev work in ensuring that people can’t play with others that are on different versions etc.

There’s probably a few more barriers than we realise.

But it’s not a bad idea. I just presume there’s reasons they’re not doing it currently for one reason or another.

it just seems that there is no community connection here, bugs are being reported, they say they are working on it, but nothing lands.

If I had to guess we’re also going to get some sort of dev/team video to go along with it. Which is hopefully less “we are listening”, and more “here’s what’s coming and what’s changing”. Because I think they lost some goodwill by saying they were listening and not delivering at times

The biggest thing people don’t get, is that the devs … aren’t solely responsible for what goes out or what goes in.

Budgets, approvals, leaders way above them. QA teams, scrum managers… all these sorts of things massively sway what can and can’t be done.

Like a decision to suddenly spend time changing the community lots from blue/yellow to the wood tone isn’t as simple as altering a colour palette - it has knockons.

Somethings have been created and prepared beforehand and were simply pulled temporarily to give them more dev time and to have each update have more content (which they definitely need lmao)

It's a common game dev strategy known as "staggered content rollout"

But many features are either incomplete or don't even exist yet

The other one that gets me commonly is the parks being AI… when like… they’re clearly not. Just because they’re bad doesn’t mean AI did it.

You can tell they’re just quickly mocked together - and they’re on repeat.

The community parks are their only way to test en-mass what we actually like and want. Bad feedback about this is good news long term - they hopefully won’t come back.

It also means they learn stuff like “oh people can’t skate rails like that a lot are complaining” or “ok the player base overall didn’t like parkour, we still like the idea. Let’s tone it down”…

How else do they learn that without the lots. 🤷🏻‍♂️

these parks are far too coherent and logical for something like a procedural generation algorithm to work effectively

i havent played shadows. And I also skipped odyssey. Valhalla was fine but way too long. origins was a bit less fun for me than valhalla but it didn't overstay it's welcome as much.
Overall I don't like the rpg format as much. So mirage was way better imo. But it was a shame that they took the controls and everything from valhalla so the parkour was not good.

All in all, unity was the goat. Such a shame that had the worst launch ever, because it became so good later but people didn't give it a change anymore.

I think it'd be better if they took a note out of GTAV book and had a passive mode that was easily activated via the d-pad so you could turn it off on the fly rather than having to go through a million settings menu.

I feel like most games use camera position as "field of view" whereas this game uses angle of visibility as "field of view". Bit odd but I guess no matter the fish-eye they want people to be able to see far left and right without turning your view, and pulling the camera back wouldn't do enough in that department, plus it would get blocked by and collide with more stuff, making their job managing player cam harder.

i know FPS and sim racing/flight etc have been using it in the angle sense since forever but i have also noticed that some games (3rd person) might talk FOV but really just mean camera position.. that doesnt help

then of course with FOV (angle) its impacted by monitor aspect ratio so my 16:9 vs your 21:9 will use different FOV to maintain a similar view on screen

what makes the most sense.. use whatever number feels the most confortable, the rest is just fluff for most ppl tbh

now for a new issue.. i noticed that on my 9950X3D that skate. is using the wrong CCD for 3D vcache after this last patch

which btw it used to trigger the "AMD 3D VCache Performance Optimizer" service but apparently its not for some reason.. can just start that service manually or i guess set it to always start with windows

annoyingly it took some pretty bad stuff to be able to fix it... in like 6 months during covid... i lost my mum, my home, my job, my sister in law, my grandfather in law... but off the back of it, we ended up manging to get money to put down a deposit on our home. i had some crypto savings (nothing crazy) that helped and the company i worked for sold and gave me a small payout to help.

it basically just cleared my debts off, but we had to lose everything to get here 😐

i started the season with 200 tix .. i have done every single thing including co-op extras to get tix.. i have 21 items left

I started the season with, i believe 8000 tix. I got 50/100 on the new pass and now I'm at around 26000 tix

yeah and there are more pages in the S2 pass and an average of something like 600 tix more per page

ive done every task and otl with co-op, only missed a couple dailies around christmas, and i"ve still got a few pages unfinished

i'm starting to wonder if the whole "if you do everything you'll end up with 20k extra tix" line that kept being repeated was a lie 😅

it wasn't they we were annoyed we had too many tickets

its that there wasnt enough stuff to buy

naah there were a lot of people complaining they couldnt earn enough tix.

And they were right. If you wanted to unlock everything you couldnt miss a couple of days. That was just wrong. I'm all for a system where you have to play quite a bit to unlock everything, but it was way too timegated in season 1.

Luckily, I'm not a person who needs to have everything and will rather avoid the stupid ugly useless stuff like skull stickers
