The two options in this case would've been a) $70 game that is forced to be rushed, have gameplay designed to be popular with ALL audiences, and compete with other titles or b) free-to-play with microtransactions, still try to expand the audience but less concerned with it, and able to stay a niche skateboarding game

On steam, I just bought a 3 pack of Skate House (skate shop simulator), Haiku the Robot (metroidvania steampunk), and Rusty's Retirement (idle game for the bottom of your screen. The first 2 are great, haven't tried the third one yet

What made skate "skate" for me at its fullest was the flick it controls and the actual physics. Everything else was mostly just nice to have.

The problem they'll run into in that instance is what happened to csgo, overwatch, and siege. If they rely on updating graphics, eventually they'll have to upgrade the engine, which has never been received well, even though it's because the communities don't understand the reasoning. A clean, stylized set of graphics means they can spend less time keeping them up to date and more time on adding to the game in other meaningful ways

I hope EA will take some sort of gacha game route with skate. Selling cosmetics wont cut it of the gameplay is good. People wont care. New parts of the map behind Paywall or skatepass etc is a must for the game to stay alive. With the way 343 and by extension halo is handled it might honestly be for the best to switch to UE5. Because so many people who worked on Infinite were contractors, not 343 employees. I think what people are trying to point out is that it's more justifiable to pay full price for a game, rather than it be be F2P and for a game to have it's progression based on lucky dips on what to get, rather than:
A) Microtransactions that can add up over time to be more than what a full priced game could be
B) Lucky dip from a selection of items that are kinda seen to 'bloat the selection' that nobody will use, to lock you into spend more time playing the game to keep attempting to get the item you want from the selection.

Looking at some of the sponsored creator videos the cheapest box is 150 rip chips with 10 items in it. That means you’d need 1500 rip chips to get what you’re looking for guaranteed. But that’s just the “first” loot box. Every other box after seems to be 200 or more rip chips per box meaning you’ll end up needing 2000 or more rip chips for a guaranteed chance to get what you’re looking for.

Yeah that’s why I don’t like the loot box system. Depending on the number of items and the price of the box you might end up spending most of the rip chips you’ll earn from the daily challenges just to get one thing you’re looking for. And another thing with the loot boxes is you don’t know where everything is. So for example, if you’re looking for a plain black shirt for instance you have to go individually check every loot box to see if any of them contain a plain black shirt.

I cant dude, ive been watching videos on this game every dayyyyyy. Even if its a repeated videos. Checking the forums, reddit, discord, website. Its getting bad bro

Sessions is on sale for $10 and the only thing holding me back is the fact i have to learn and i know i will dedicate my self to getting use to the controls, just for me to drop it when this releases

For $10 it might be worth grabbing but it does take a while to get used to, we are only like 5~ weeks from end of summer though

Also, even if you do buy all the extra DLC maps, I found it got stale after a while, I wish it were one big open world instead of separate maps

Yeah probably, I love session skate sim because me being someone who's landed almost every trick and done years on vert ramps and all, I love the flow of the game, the flicks and scoops are absolutely spot on and it feels like you're actually doing the trick having to use both thumb sticks for it

I've heard SXL gets better with mods but it is the definition of float in a skateboarding game

The only route to go in Skater XL Is Mods Fs, played vanilla on console is one of the saddest experiences to mankind.
