honestly, living in SoCal, riding my motorcycle all the time, my head got hot. plus taking off my helmet resulted in weird Gary Oldman/Zerg (Fifth Element) helmet hair.

it's been all sorts of styles, from top hawk, faux hauk (shaved sides), to a razor hawk with pink tips.

it's fun to have, but the upkeep takes time.
less time getting ready, less cost of products (I used waxes and hair cement sprays, dyes, etc.)

and I got a nice round head, so that's a bonus.

If I may give my 2 cents.

I was of the same mind when I was first asked to join a Rifts/Shadowrun TTRPG run.

“Speak in character, etc.”
nah, not for me. Until I started with just me and the DM and built my character. Legit, Cyberpunk, Baldur’s Gate, etc all have video games that started first as TTRPG. (The “dice rolls” just aren’t seen.)

I played this 8 month long campaign (3 hours a week) 22 1/2 years ago. And I still remember the sessions, the fun, and the forged friendships between my DM and the other players.

And whatever you can imagine that is real in the game world, you can do. And doing unexpected stuff (which in gaming would be comparable to glitching) really changes the game in ways even the DM wouldn’t expect. (I actually caused the end of the campaign because my DM had no inkling I would go full nuclear when presented the option. We still laugh about it to this day.)
